My 11 year old insisted on going to True Barbers, he would not get his hair cut for months. I have 2 sons and took them both in on a Sunday afternoon. I teach customer service courses and was instantly impressed by the offer of a beverage. A great indication of good service. Both of the barbers, Marvin and Isaiah were personable and gave my sons great cuts. My only dissatisfaction was with their conversation on how they (the barbers) don't want any "rugrats" . Angel was amazing! I brought my husband here today for the first time for a beard trim and a haircut. We walked in at 12:15pm on a Sunday, and got an appointment for 1 pm, which is amazing in and of itself ! My husband looks absolutely stunning! I could not stop staring at him! I watched Angel while he worked with my husband . He definitely didn't forget that I was there, too! But he was so awesome and personable. But as I watched, you could tell his dedication to the craft. His precision. I saw that look on his face and I knew Hubby was in good hands! The whole atmosphere here is awesome! Everyone is friends! AWESOME, AWESOME PLACE!!! I went there yesterday for a haircut and was extremely impressed (if you couldn't tell from my opening statement). This was my first experience at a barber shop and everything went very smooth. I walked in about 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment and sat in the chair 2 minutes later. The lady barber (Whitney) was very professional and had a calm demeanor. She finished the service with a hot towels neck shave, which was phenomenal. I will tell you all why you would see maximum 5 stars for this Barber, it is because they promise you $5 discount for each review you give. I had a good experience last time but this time they did not take down my appointment, then when I went in at the time they apologized and made me wait for 45 mins and they forgot about me. When i noticed that another gentleman who came after me was called for hair cut, I approached the owner who usually takes down the appointment again started to apologize. My regular barbershop was all booked, and i was in need of a little cleanup before heading back off to college after my fall break - so after looking at various barbershops in the area I decided to try true barber. walked in and there was a very nice atmosphere and i had good expectations going into my cut. The barber asked what I wanted and I said the usual clean up around the ears and neck, take just enough off the sides to make them not look poofy and take an inch off the top. throughout the whole cut, this barber barely said a word - asking for approval by merely grunting at me. to top it all off, at the end he took the cape off in the worst way possible dumping all of my freshly cut hair all over me. i just don't know how you mess up that badly. covered in hair, i walked over to the register and the cashier looked at me and she was like okay before you pay, wipe your eyes like this - very confused, i rubbed my eyelids the amount of hair that came off my eyelids due to this barbers lack of attention to detail was incredulous. i walked into this barbershop with 4-5 inches of hair and walked out with a SHORT military / business man side part and 30$ wasted. i will absolutely not be returning to this barbershop and for those of you looking for a fresh cut - just go to great clips - you'll get a better cut than this place. read more

I have been going to various Barbers for the past 8 years and this is one of the best shops I have been to. Walking in to the door they have a real receptionist who greeted me and was able to help me find a time to get my haircut. Call ahead and she'll find an appointment for you before you come. You truly get an entire experience at this shop with a shampoo and neck shave included with your hair cut. I sat down explained what I was looking for and my barber had suggestions on how to make the haircut I wanted to look the best and I was not disappointed in any way. Additionally from what other haircuts I saw while there all the barbers looked very talented and professional. Walked in today, got me in the computer, beverage in hand and in a chair in less than 5 minutes. No wait at all, very nice chair for the wife to sit in while she waited for me. This was a fantastic experience and I did find what I was looking for - a new barber in a new town! Didn't think anything of it when I read about it, but the wash after the cut, the head massage and rinse, and the steamed towel on my neck showed me this was NOT my father's barber shop - but the straight razor neck shave showed me it WAS it's much bigger and better brother!!!! Unfortunately my second visit was awful. I called and the receptionist had to ask me 4 times to spell my name. Then when I arrived for my 1pm appointment I was told it would just be a few minutes but after I asked exactly how long that would be I was told that there was actually no one available to cut my hair for another half hour. I went by the reviews and thought this would be a good place. However, the manager needs to work on the skills of the front desk lady/receptionist. She is not the most friendly. I showed up and there were no appointments available and she seemed upset I was down to grab the last one of the day. I was on my way and she called 2 minutes after my appointment time to see if I wanted to keep my appointment (sorry for being a new customer and not being able to figure out where to park). I was 7 mins late--Jesus, I lived in NYC and they're not as ridiculous as this lady--gave me attitude when I showed up, rolled her eyes at me and exchanged a weird look with the barber. I would frankly be very mindful of how a terrible gatekeeper to this business can seriously hurt a potential great customer experience. I didn't even get to try the barbers. My husband went for a haircut and a shave today. Ended up having a terrible experience. He was explaining what he thought would look good and asked for the stylist input, all he did was continually shrug his shoulders and just started clipping away. The stylist was extremely careless with the clippers and needed up cutting a lot of the only part he did not want trimmed, also he didn't wet his hair or bother to wash out the product he already had in his hair. He also didn't apply any type of hot towel/shave cream before shaving his neck and face, not to mention the fact that he was careless and ended up shaving part of his beard down and didn't bother to make it even. I visited True Barbers today and had a mixed experience. I am starting a new job soon, so I want to make sure I look sharp for my first day. I walked in without an appointment, but they weren't busy so I was able to hop in a chair almost immediately. The barber that started my haircut was Patricia. Having my hair cut by her was not a pleasant experience. She didn't really understand what I was asking her to do and the haircut kept getting worse and worse as it continued. When it finally ended, I was in disbelief that my haircut looked so bad. I payed and left the barber feeling upset. On my drive home, I decided to call the front desk and let them know that I was not satisfied with the haircut I received. They were able to convince me to turn my car around to come back to the shop and get fixed up. I was hesitant, but they ensured me that they would fix it. I returned and I sat in Greg's chair to get fixed up. I talked about what I thought was wrong with the haircut and I told him the direction I would like to go. He listened to what I wanted and gave suggestions about how he could make the haircut look better. He did an amazing job saving my haircut and I left the shop feeling more confident that I looked presentable. Greg is a true professional and I am glad he was able to fix my hair. I am leaving 3 stars because they were able to fix their mistake, but it is a mistake that should not have happened. Online scheduling was very easy and the communication/verification was personal. I came in for a cut and shave, this is was my second barber shave. I told Tevorres (SP?) what I was looking to do and he offered some very good suggestions, which I accepted. Should be fake Barbers. You walk through the doors and the pungent aroma of pretentious middle aged man assaults your nose. You look to your left and see an employee slouched so far into his chair I could hardly see his face, let alone his phone that he was urgently caressing. Your standing there in the threshold wondering exactly where or what you just walked into. Is it truly a Barber? Or is it a male salon thinly veiled as a Barbershop. After a brief wait in the quite worn but comfortable chair I was questioned by the messy secretary - "Do you have an appointment?" " No, I'm merely here for a beard trim" I meagerly responded. Apparently this is an appointment only "Barber Shop" (and i use that definition loosely in this case). I was handed a clipboard and a cheap pen and asked to fill out all my information. I placed it back on the counter, smiled, and proceed to return to my vehicle, and clamor for a breath of fresh air. My advice, is to keep on driving. This is an over-glorified salon where real men are not welcomed. Atmosphere is on par with a doctors office. read more

I may never truly know how wel the barbers can cut hair. I visited on Monday and was informed that I would need an appointment, which was perfectly understandable. I made an appointment for the following day at 11:00 am. I recieved an e-mail confirmation for the 11:00 am appoint. I recieved a call at 10:00 asking me where I was at. I advised that I had an 11:00 appoint not 10. I arrived at 11:00 and was told that the barber assigned to me was with a client and would be approx 45 minutes. That is totally unacceptable and created a problem for me, since I was leaving town. They called me later to apologize, but by that time I had already wasted my entire morning.
