    Quite interesting decor!

If you're confused by the outside, you're not alone. The ceramic pigs really are an interesting touch! I was excited to find this local Black owned BBQ spot. It's clear that they're a favorite because a lot of customers were in and out, but they did a great job of managing safety by only letting in a certain number of people and asking people to wait in their cars after ordering. I had the turkey wings and they were big (and yummy)! I also had the Mac & cheese and collards as sides. The side were so-so. My date also said he wasn't very impressed by the flavor of the sides but he did love his pork. The sides aren't enough to turn me away though, I would return!

We had heard good things about this place. We were not disappointed at all. Baby back ribs were awesome! You have to try the sexy lady BBQ Sauce. The owner Milton sat down and talk with us for a while. Everyone there was super friendly! I definitely recommend this place!

This place is fantastic. They offer great BBQ. The meats are tender, and smoked to perfection. We highly recommend this place. The sides were great, and the sauces so tasty.

Excellent pork and sauces. The mustard sauce was our favorite. Enjoyed the sides. Great family run place.

Hash over rice (good!), mac and cheese, canned green beans, and dry ribs.

The good: - the barbecue and ribs were well smoked - the hash was interesting, with a little liver flavor The not so good: - the ribs were much too dry. The barbecue was also a little on the dry side. - the mustard sauce was too sweet, tasting more of sugar than mustard. - the string beans were straight from a can. We asked as we ordered and she told us that they were fresh. Since we got take out, we didn't discover the lie until we got home. - the mac and cheese was some of the worst we've had, very bland and not very cheesy. They were out of collards, which we would have ordered. - atmosphere inside is not very nice - 4% surcharge on all electronic payments

I stopped at True BBQ on my way into town for a quick dinner and I was pleasantly surprised with my meal! I ordered the chopped bbq plate with two sides (coleslaw and corn), along with rice and hash. Everything was seasoned well and really tasty! The plate was about $12. My favorite part of the meal was the delicious BBQ sauce they recommended to me. I'm glad I got to try some Carolina BBQ from this cute restaurant!

Small order - Baby Back ribs

Ordered the small baby back ribs plate. Enough food for 2 meals or to split for 2 people. The baby back ribs were so amazing with a lot of flavor and meat. The BEST hash I have ever had. Clean throughout, no grisly pieces etc I've gotten in it at other places. Potato salad was good as well. Flavor of the Mac and cheese was good but needed more cheese. Handling Covid well - mask, distancing, shields, and once you place your order you wait in your car and they bring it to you. Will definitely be back.

Something about being at the Zoo makes me crave BBQ, probably has something to do with living in Memphis for 5 years and going to the Zoo and then Central BBQ at least once a month. So as we were finishing up at the Riverbank Zoo, we brought out google and asked where the nearest BBQ place was, which is how we stumbled on True BBQ. They smoke the BBQ right there in the parking lot, the smell draws you in before you even open the door. The menu is simple. I ordered the chopped BBQ plate, I expected shredded BBQ, like what is on a BBQ sandwich, over the rice but it was almost like mush with a tangy mustard based sauce, it was delicious. I had the potato salad and Mac and Cheese sides, both were good. My son had the BBQ sandwich and Coleslaw, the slaw wasn't my favorite but the sandwich was good. The service was amazing, they were all so nice and accommodating! We will definitely visit Trues again!

Came to true BBQ for late lunch. We ordered ribs with collard greens and mac n cheese. My husband ordered it without BBQ sauce. Which to my surprise was delicious. I'm used to BBQ dripping and my fingers getting dirty. The meat was so tender. And very tasty. The collards had a sweet taste to it. Which I really liked. Mac n cheese were ok. The tea is sooo good!!! The staff was very friendly. In the mood for BBQ. Give it a chance. You won't regret it.

Spare Ribs, potato salad, and baked beans!

We were passing through and wanted some BBQ. We ordered spare ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. Well rice hash came with the dinner. I've never heard of such but it was delicious. I serious recommend trying it! Sweet Tea was also awesome! Will definitely try again if passing through! The Pretty lady sauce is mustard base and very tasty! I

Best BBQ in South Carolina. I've eaten Q all over the south, and this place is near the top.

They don't have a set menu but what's available that day is posted in a couple of places, while you wait to order. They mark out things as they run out. I arrived just after 1 pm and there was already no more dessert. Not cool. Seating is odd and limited. Great for groups of 6 but horrible for 1-4 people unless you want to eat with strangers. Indoor has AC and outdoor is upstairs with narrow tables and it's stupid hot even with 2 fans. To order, you request your meat then slide down and order sides and desserts. They put it on a tray then you order drinks and pay. A tip was requested at checkout. A staff member did check on me 2 times for drink refills. Unfortunately it's clear you are to bus your table. Everything I ordered was really good and really expensive. Brace yourself...$33 for one person. I requested "a pound of ribs" which equaled to 2 ribs and was priced according to weight -$14.40. Good flavor and sauce but not very meaty. It's good that the smallest sides ARE large enough for 2 to share. There were no smaller single portion options, so I enjoyed the $6 cornbread pudding, $5 collard greens, a good sized $2 piece of cornbread - you get to choose center or side/corner - and a $3 sweet tea. Read that again: $14.40 for 2 ribs and $16 for 2 sides, bread and a drink. Overall good food but stupid expensive and unwelcome seating options. Posted hours: Saturday 12-5 and Sunday 12-3. Closed Monday to Friday.

The price is very reasonable; this is a place where you could easily throw peanut shells on the floor and no one would bat an eye (disclaimer: there are no free peanuts to nosh or shells to toss). Hudson's has a buffet. We checked it out quickly (looks like it had pulled pork and fried chicken and chicken livers as protein and a lot of cafeteria style sides and desserts). I guess if I were 30 years younger and had a big appetite I might go for that deal. After a short discussion, we ordered platters: two pulled pork, and one rib. My wife ordered chicken salad. When our orders arrived, we counted three pulled pork platters; alas, no ribs. Opps! Once my order hit the table, he couldn't take it back, so he promptly corrected the order and I got the benefit of double meat, i. e., a generous portion of pulled pork and my ribs. Pulled pork was quite tasty, but I think that I have made it just as good or better in a slow cooker. I really did enjoy my ribs. They had just enough meat and a brown sugar, dry rub. They were tender and not dried out, so I'll give Hudson's four stars on the ribs. I think the baked beans were advertised as barbecue, but our friend who had them said they weren't, but still tasted good. The mac in the mac n cheese was not over cooked, and it was quite cheesy, and I was surprised to find a few crispy chunks of cheesy sauce--always a plus! The slaw was fresh and well prepared. This was our first trip to Hudson's and our friends have been there several times but not for years. I have to give them a solid three. As I already mentioned, Hudson's a good-value dining choice; the BBQ is decent, but the sides are not much better than a K & W cafeteria. A great family Smokehouse!
