If you want a nice, fitted, good looking, custom suit then you should use True Gentleman but there is no guarantee you will actually get what you pay for. I ordered a suit and a custom white dress shirt for my husband for our wedding. Sam met us at our house in Ogden in February and measured my husband for the suit and we were able to pick every little detail that we wanted. We had the suit rushed and paid an extra $150 to do so in order to have it ready for our wedding in April. We were told the white dress shirt could not be rushed however, and we were fine with that. In March we were given the suit and it looked great but that was the last I heard from True Gentleman. By May, when I hadn't heard anything about the white dress shirt I texted Sam to find out what was going on. He gave me excuse after excuse of why the shirt wasn't done and then eventually stopped writing me back or answering my phone calls. In July I emailed True Gentleman since that is their only form of contact on their website. After numerous emails without a response I finally messaged them on Facebook and threatened them with a bad review and then I immediately heard back. Trapper told me that I would be getting a refund check and asked for my address. A month and a half later I still didn't have a check. I emailed again and Trapper told me the check would be written and sent that day. Two weeks later I still didn't have a refund check. I email again and Trapper told me he did send a check in the mail and it had been cashed. This guy had an excuse for everything. We did eventually get a refund 7 months after I ordered the shirt but in the process I was repeatedly ignored, disrespected, and taken advantage of. I was given the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We love the suit but we will never use True Gentleman again. read more

I am posting this now because I have noticed that in spite of past information, the business is not in fact closing. Originally didn't feel the need to post it here too because of this, but I want everyone to know what they are getting themselves into. After I originally posted this review, Trapper reached out to harass me about my critical feedback. This is what you sign up for when you purchase here: a business novice who cannot assume blame for communication lapses and untimely product delivery. Judging from other reviews I might be in a minority of purchasers, but I highly doubt it. Professionalism is not the strong suit of this business, and especially not something Trapper values. Communication was untimely, often leaving me waiting over 24 hours to hear back from the owner. Delays being a common theme here, my suit was over 3 weeks late, resulting in me and my then fiancée having to push back the shoot date for our bridal pictures. As recompense, I was comped a shirt that I was promised would be here for my wedding day. I was left scrambling to find a shirt for my wedding when I was informed 3 days before it wouldn't be here on time. In fact, it was also 2-3 weeks late. I was home from my honeymoon by that point, which is when Trapper ignored texts and then began a rather uninventive story about how he would be closing down TGSC, something that worker Cole claimed was not happening. Obviously it isn't going out of business, based on the email promotion I recently got. When you spend $1500+ for a suit, you deserve better treatment than this. The suit was beautiful, but not worth the stress and not worth being treated poorly. Trapper is not a decent businessman and does not value your business. You are an inconvenience to him. I love True Gentleman suits. Before my True Gentleman experience, I had never worn a custom suit. Now, I'll never go back to off-the-rack. Trapper knows his stuff. He dresses the part and is willing to go down whatever fashion alley you're traveling. Mine led me to a light blue window pane suit. It's a magnet for compliments. I've purchased two pants and one suit from Trapper, so as you can see the initial orders went fine overall. My wife purchased a suit as a surprise for me for Christmas which we just now finalized. One of the biggest problems with Trapper / True Gentlemen is the pure and utter lack of communication. When I'm paying $1,500 for a custom suit I expect a certain level of professionalism which I did not find with TG. I'm the one that had to constantly follow up on the fixes which there were over 3, ultimately he ended up having to remake the jacket from scratch because they couldn't get it right (it's still not right). The final straw was when Trapper said he'd be at my house "around 2" on Saturday. I responded pleasantly and rearranged my day so that I would be there when he shows up. Come 3pm I ask "should I still expect you soon?". Again, I'm following up with him, I never once received a simple text letting me know when he would show up. He responded with "still in meetings hoping to get done soon if it needs to be later I can come this evening". Mind you this is a Saturday, I've already changed my plans for him so I respond with "I changed my plans for you thinking it would be around 2." Trapper responds with "well wade looks like we are just a bad match, I'm rearranging taking my grandma to her cancer appointment to meet you today so I guess it sucks for both of us, you never once said anything earlier." This is when I start to get really mad, call Trapper some bad names and go off on how terrible his service is. He tries to make me feel guilty by bringing his grandmother into this when he offered to bring it by on Saturday. He tells me we are a bad match after I was simply trying to understand where he was and what time he would stop by. I wanted him to know that I rearranged my day to meet with him at the time that was convenient for him, not me. We go on texting for quite some time as he won't pick up his phone to have a conversation, Trapper doesn't want to own up to anything. He doesn't want to admit the suit was bad, that he has terrible service and doesn't communicate. And if you hear from him or anyone at TG that I'm the "crazy" person, well you can call me crazy if I expect to be updated in a timely manner about my $1,500 custom suit and will absolutely call him out if he doesn't. If he responds to me like that and goes off on my wife then I'll definitely call him some 4 letter words to get my point across. There are other tailors in the area that will better serve you and are more sincere, go to them, do not gamble with Trapper. FYI, I have since blocked his number. After my wife posted a bad review he immediately started to text her again... such a waste of time. read more

If you truly want a fully customizable suit for a competitive price, look no further than True Gentleman. No detail is overlooked. While undergoing an extremely thorough fitting process, you are given endless options of fabrics, buttons, seam colors, etc. to choose from. It's almost overwhelming, but knowing that you get to choose just about everything about your suit makes it all worthwhile. You can even get a custom message stitched under the inner jacket pocket. Dope. The suits arrived a little late but only because they had gotten held up in customs. Trapper and his employees kept us in the loop and maintained good communication during the whole process. Like a piece of fine art, a suit cannot be rushed so I'd recommend ordering one well before (at the very least 2 months) your wedding, dinner event, etc. Basically anytime someone tells me they need a suit I recommend True Gentleman. read more

If you are expecting one shred of customer service, this is not the place for you. Similar to other reviews contained herein, I had to do all the leg work with following up on my order and making sure my suit would be completed on time. I am entirely convinced that had I not followed up myself, they would have completely forgotten about my purchase. When it came time to pick up the suit, I was told that if I could get to the store before 1:00 PM, I could pick up the suit. I arrived at the store at 10:30 AM and the store was closed. I was then told that everyone else was out of town and it was my fault for not coming to the store the previous day. This conversation actually happened. Even if TG was selling a new suit for $1.00, I would not buy it. These guys act like they are the only game in town. They are not. But even if they were, I would happily drive to the next town over just to spurn TG. read more

My cousin was wearing a suit from True Gentleman, so my husband and I asked him where he got it. Turns out it was custom made down to the very last detail - buttons, buttonholes, linings, etc. I made an appointment with Trapper and he came to our house to get my husband's measurements. We asked him if we could have it by Christmas, and he promised it to us by the beginning of December. This first meeting was at the end of October. Beginning of December came around - he forgot to place our order. I understand, mistakes happen. Since then however it has been nearly impossible to get ahold of Trapper. We never got the suit, and when we asked for a refund on 2/17/15 he told us it would take 10-15 days to receive it. It has now been 6 weeks and still no refund. In the last 5 months since he forgot the suit my husband and I have sent 12 emails (to both of his listed emails), 6 texts, and called twice and he's only emailed back 6 times to set up meetings (both at our house and at his tailor) that he never showed up to. The tailor informed us he didn't even put the meeting on the schedule with her. He wouldn't send us updates on the suit, nor updates on the refund of his own accord. He may seem too busy to respond to our various inquiries, but he had no trouble posting his own suit modeling shots on Instagram 36 times in 6 weeks! This just seems like blatant irresponsibility and disrespect from someone who is supposed to own his own business. Over this 5 month period since we first ordered the suit in October, we've missed family pictures, two weddings, a wedding anniversary, a funeral, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, and five job interviews we would've liked that suit for. No worries, we were able to buy a less-expensive suit through a different business and have it tailored within a week. Now we just want the refund. In summary, don't use True Gentleman for your next suit or do business with Trapper Roderick unless you want your messages to fall on deaf ears, and never want to see your suit or your money again. Update 7/16/15: Trapper tried to bribe us to remove this review and not sue him by giving us a suit (ill-fitting/untailored, and without the rest of our order). Beware of other reviewers being bought for a positive review. Others have contacted me in response to my review - this behavior seems like a common occurrence. Buyer beware. read more

I highly recommend that you not use this company. My first order was great!! The next two disastrous. I ordered two suits and paid for them in June 2015 One was for a friend for his wedding in September. It was a bit of a hassle but finally got it done. As of today's date (12-08-2016) I am still waiting. He has made numerous excuses and promises. 1st promise by Christmas 2015. Nothing received nor was I contacted. Next was it's done but we moved and it's packed away, we will send when on packed. Now they do not answer email text or phone calls. I've bought 3 suits and several dress shirts from True Gentleman over the last year and a half. I worked with Trapper each time. He gave me a great deal on each. One time the pants needed altering and he did it for free. It takes a while to get the stuff, but he told me that at the time I ordered them. I love the way you can make everything custom. Trapper gave me some good ideas on fabrics, color combinations, etc. that I would not have thought about. I'll be getting all my suits and shirts from True Gentleman in the future! read more

Worst customer service I've ever had. My husband bought a $1500 suit from true gentleman and had to get it altered 4 times from true gentleman. After the 4th time they still couldn't get it right, so we took it to Nordstrom to get altered. Nordstrom was appalled at how awful the tailoring was done. They couldn't even get the jacket symmetrical. For it being a "custom suit" there should be minimal alterations needed, if any. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to get the suit altered before the wedding so we altered it after the wedding. It took multiple calls and multiple emails to get any response and it took months between each alteration. We also ordered a custom white shirt and it came 2 months after our wedding. read more

**** BUYER BEWARE**** the first experience we had ordering a suit from Trapper was fine, the suit came out very nicely so I decided to surprise my husband with one as a gift for Christmas. Trapper said it was the perfect gift because he already had all my husbands measurements and so it could be a total suprise. Well it ended up being a nightmare. The suit did not fit at all like his original suit when the measurements were supposed to be the exact same as his previous suit. My husband contacted Trapper and he began to make excuses about how it was because of his body type, he has an athletic build, it was just supposed to be the exact same? The suit was again completely off, Trapper made it seem like it was a huge inconvenience to him to have to change anything, I'm sorry but when I'm spending $1400 on a suit is it too much to ask that it actually fits?! Finally after 3 attempts he said he would be dropping it off at our house at 2 ish, when it was 3 and we still hadn't herd from him my husband sent a text just asking if he was still planning on coming, the normal response from a company would be for them to apologise because they know you time is valuable and don't want you waiting around all day but instead he went off on my husband and gave him some guilt trip about having to cancel his own plans to come drop it off. Like his time is way more valuable than ours and once again we were being an inconvenience. That was the last straw, this was supposed to be a fun gift for my husband and instead it has been nothing but a headache with terrible customer service and we are left with a suit that still doesn't fit right that we will have to pay someone else to fix and bad memories associated with it. I was looking for a really good looking suit that fit perfectly for my wedding. I couldn't find any place that really blew me away. My wedding day was getting close and a work friend suggested that I contact True Gentleman. I called True Gentleman and Trapper set up an appointment to come meet me at my apartment the next day. He came by and was great. I got to choose every single detail that I wanted for my suit down to my initials on my custom made shirt. I was a little worried I came to him to late to get my suit finished in time for my wedding. He had my dream suit completed in three weeks! I can't compliment him enough on his professionalism. He kept me updated every step of the way. Honestly, best suit I have ever owned. Quality is amazing and the fit was perfect.
