Always high game delicious. I only wish their salty items for breakfast were better. They have just two options for those of us who need a non-sweet protein breakfast: The ham and cheese croissant has the goodies rolled up tight and restricted in the middle shaft, and barely any cheese anywhere, so most bites are just boring croissant. And the spicy beef croissant really sucks because you get so excited to eat such an amazing sounding thing and then you realize disappointingly they have a sweet substance on the top, which completely ruins the whole thing. It's literally inedible with the sweet wash on it. And I've tried peeling away the top crusty layer but the sweet stuff is penetrating pretty much the whole bread layer so it's futile. :( If they had even one of these salty items properly executed, I would have given five stars here. True Loaf is PHENOMENAL. First, the almond croissants are the best thing there. The middle piping is always overstuffed and it bakes crispy on the edges and they sell it like that and it's so good. We got to True Loaf at 4:00 and as expected, there was a limited selection. I wa super happy they still had the kougin amann, as it is my favorite pastry to get at a bakery! I got the kouign amann and small apple danish for $11.50 total. Despite getting them at the end of the day, they were perfectly crispy. If you're debating on going, I highly recommend! Terrible, terrible experience. We ordered the Cruffin, and it was absolutely disgusting. I bet they were trying to follow Dominique Ansel's lead with the cronut (croissant and donut), but this was just a COMPLETE FAIL. The outside was a thin, non-flaky exterior (not a croissant-texture at all, as refereced by the name) and was not a muffin either. The interior was a disgustingly sweet rice-pudding texture, and there was ALOT of it. With the disgusting texture of the rice pudding, and the non-flaky, non-muffin-y exterior, it was absolutely terrible. In other words, a FAILED attempt at replicating the popular and established cronut. In addition, obviously it was good that they were following COVID-19 protocols, but 1 PERSON IN AT A TIME???!!! With the amount of space they have, it could at least fit 2 people. There was 3 staff working when we came in, and I find it hard to believe why they couldn't help serve/ring people up since most of them were standing there aimlessly, looking for something to do. We also had to wait outside in the hot Florida sun for a while (which again, isn't an issue due to the current pandemic) but I just wish they could AT LEAST have the competancy (and yes, I am using this word because there were 2 staff literally doing nothing) to ring people up, allowing for more people to come in at a time (because with the space they have, they could have 2 people in there at a time while following social distancing guidelines). Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes due to this in the hot Floridian sun, or rain if you're unlucky. Also, if you're looking for something good, definitely don't get the Cruffin. True Loaf is a neighborhood bakery in Sunset Harbor. There is limited counter seating for perhaps 6 people, most people grab and go. Beautiful croissants, babkas and pastries. Many Jewish specialties. They were making small Spanish bocadillos with cured ham, cheese and grated tomato, but those were unfortunately not in the menu and available only if ordered in advance. So sad. Service is correct, yet a little convoluted. Beverages are an afterthought. Convenient parking in public garage in upper floors of the same building. read more

Usually they have a line forming outside early on weekends. My go-to are their cream filled pastries. They also serve sandwiches and coffee. True Loaf was true love at first bite! My friend brought me here after going to a class at flywheel to treat ourselves after a killer workout. Immediately, I was struck by this bakery's minimalist design and open floor plan. The counter is an unassuming table loaded with cookies and pastries next to the cash register. However, the lack of a display case and few labels on their pastries makes it difficult to know the full scope of True Loaf's menu. I had to rely on a mixture of asking my friends for suggestions and annoying the cashier to decide what to order. I ultimately chose the chocolate dipped peanut butter cookie and an almond croissant and both turned out to be great decisions. The cookie was rich and moist with the peanut buttery goodness that hit the spot. I saved the almond croissant for later and was delighted to find that it was even better than the cookie! The croissant part was flaky and perfectly toasted while the inside almond parts that overflowed from the croissant had a unique cake texture. It was certainly the most unique croissant that I've ever had. I'm really impressed with the items that I tried today and I'm excited to go back to True Loaf to taste more of their creative and unique menu. read more

Stopped by true loaf after eating at Lucali's witch was an amazing experience! I had a difficult time deciding what to order. Since I'm visiting from chicago. I had to make my one choice count! I did. Got one loaf of banana bread with chocolate chips and walnuts, and two huge chocolate chip cookies. It did not disappoint. Banana bread was huge and weighed at least 5 pounds legit brought it back with me to Chicago lol...super soft amazing flavor the best part was it wasn't overly sweet same with the cookie. I'm all for more bakeries in Miami Beach but True Loaf is significantly pricier and not noticeably better than another French bakery I frequent in Miami. Croissant $3.50 now $3.75 vs $2.50 other French bakery Chocolate Croissant $3.97 now $4.25 vs $2.50 other French bakery Baguette $4.00 vs $2.95 rustic baguette from other French bakery Chocolate Bread Loaf $10.75 Chocolate Bread Half Loaf $5.37 From our visit, I realized they need to better label all their goodies and breads. At least the name of the item and ideally the price please? We annoyed all the dudes behind us in line, who were antsy for their coffee fix, by asking the employee what all the pastries were. I really had no idea what they were. The small pies and other more unique pastry items were unlabeled. We got a half loaf of the chocolate bread although the employee didn't want to give us the half at first - until she realized one was already cut in half. $10.75 for trying their chocolate bread for the first time was too much in quantity and in price. Fortunately, the bread had a nice crunchy crust and was filled with an adequate amount of chocolate chips. The crumb was tender and airy. However, I wasn't wowed by the croissants, chocolate croissants, or the baguette. They didn't smell or taste better than the ones I usually get or make at home. Pros - Email receipt option. Fun flavors of loaves to try. So many different loaves with seeds and different flours. Easy place to load up on coffee, brunch, bread for dinner, and tomorrow's breakfast. Cons - Not much space to sit and eat. Couple of small, cafe tables outside. Not all items were labeled. You had the option of checking out the chalkboard that had some but not all items with prices, asking what the pastries were, then looking back on the chalkboard to check the price. Back and forth. The pastries were placed behind the counter around a corner towards the front store window, so you have to lean awkwardly over the cash register to see them all. The big bread loaves are also placed far away to the back. Whoever designed the place should have put the items behind glass but closer to the customers. ALMOND CROISSANT. I've made my own croissants before so I know just how much butter goes into them, meaning that if I'm going to indulge, I want a croissant that screams butter loud and proud. True Loaf's almond croissant does just that. And to make matters even more incredible, there's a piece of cookie rolled in the bottom! The reason why I docked a star is because my friend and I also shared a brioche bun filled with custard. It was just ok (we did eat it after the croissant...). The custard was not overly sweet and the fresh blueberries had a nice tartness, but the brioche was somewhat dry and dense. There's limited seating along the wall inside and a few tables outside to enjoy your goodies. All in all, a cute bakery with amazing almond croissants! P.S. I've been coming here at least once a month from Broward and I specifically love the lemon filled donut. Today I ordered online knowing the lemon donut will be ready an hour after I pick up the rest of my order. I get there at 10, the person inside tells me to come back at 11 for the lemon donut. I stayed in Miami trying to kill time because at least to me, the lemon donut was worth the wait. I got there at 11, the same person inside tells me to choose between a Nutella donut and a raspberry jam donut. Nothing else. As if I had amnesia without even knowing I had amnesia (I didn't). I spent an hour waiting to be forgotten without a care. Tell me you lost the lemon donut, you ate it, you accidentally gave it away, just talk to the human across the counter! Who knows what happened here? All I know is that even though they had my phone number, nobody cared to call and let me know to stop waiting unless I wanted something else (or maybe just a sincere apology?). I didn't want anything else. I don't expect great service from Dunkin's $1 donut but they provide it. I expect great service from a place that sells $6 donuts but I wasn't worth it for them, and neither was my wasted weekend hour. I'm good on that. read more

True Loaf bakery is serving up some tasty baked goods in their relatively new Sunset Harbour location. From freshly-baked breads to cookies to pastries to Panther Coffee, True Loaf has something for everyone, and the intoxicating aromas are sure to lure you in if you happen to just be passing by. I've not yet had the pleasure of sampling their actual bread, but I've indulged in a couple different pastries that have absolutely blown me away. I had a passion fruit cream-topped financier that was buttery and delicious. The passion fruit flavor was strong, but the butter flavor of the financier came through. On my most recent visit, I tried True Loaf's almond croissant, which was flaky and delicious. Buttery, flaky layers of a croissant with a bit of almond cream, topped with almond slivers and a dusting of powdered sugar - yum, yum, yum. I also tried a passion-fruit pastry cream-topped kouign-amann, which is a type of Breton pastry (yes, I did have to google it). It was a crispy, sugary confection that I'm eager to try again. The passion fruit cream helped to offset the otherwise sticky pastry. I'm looking forward to other delicious confectionary treats from True Loaf, and will definitely be trying their breads in the near future! read more

I got here around 5:30pm on a weekday and was so happy they hadn't run out of cookies! After seeing them on Instagram, I knew I had to make a trip to Bay Street for them. After 4:00, all baked items are 50% off so my huge cookie was only $1.50 or something ridiculous like that! The woman helping me was so nice and seemed as excited as I was that I finally got to try one of their cookies. The storefront is clean, bright, and beautiful. All of their pastries looked amazing, but the chocolate chip cookie was too good to pass up. read more
