I was looking for a reputable certified electrician. So i turned to Yelp for some help. Read several reviews from 4 different companies. 1 stood out from the rest, True Power. So i asked for a quote for the work that i had and pics of the work area. Peter got back to me and said his company could help me. So we set up date and time that would accommodate me and my busy schedule. He told me Josh would be doing the work and would let me know when hes on his way. Josh came today to install two ceiling fans that were about 11 feet up on a slanted ceiling. This was something we didn't think we could tackle. Thankfully we called True Power because after seeing the problems he encountered there's no way we could've done that on our own. This is the 2nd time we hired them and have been very happy with the professionalism of the service as well as the constant communication. I would also like to add that Lowe's charges $195 for a "standard" ceiling fan install. I'm guessing there would be an extra charge for tall ceilings and for them to go up one flight of stairs so take that into consideration when deciding who to hire. read more

My "Fuse Box" where you look to see if any of fuses are "tripped" is/was ancient and in need for replacement. Our family planned a staycation for the weekend. It was early morning and my husband and I were trying to get last minute things done before our pet sitter arrived. We were scheduled to leave home at 10:30 am. We have a huge koi pond out in the front yard and additional fish ponds. My husband discovered that the circuit breaker to pump for the ponds had switched off and the pumps were not working. A portion of the pantry and laundry room as well as our garage door were not working either. Imagine the frustration as my hubby tries to figure out the problem. I suggested calling an electrician. I went to Yelp and one of the first companies to pop up was True Power Electrical Services, LLC. I didn't have time to comb through Yelp reading reviews to choose a company so I called True Power. The company owner Peter answered the phone on the half of the first ring! How wonderful right??? I explained the situation to Peter, and I'm pretty sure I sounded frantic. I also conveyed to him that we needed to leave home at about 10:30 am. Peter informed me that one of his workers would be out our way in Mililani and would come as soon as he finished a prior job. About 15 minutes after my call I was sent a text informing me that John would be arriving at our home within 30 minutes. John arrived a short time later and went through our electrical system and circuit box. We have an attic above our garage that electrical lines run through. John went up there and he suspected that mice may have chewed up the power lines causing this problem and suggested we call our exterminator. I asked if this was something that may cause a fire down the road. John informed us that if we were concerned about the lines in the attic, we could rewire them in the garage explaining several options. He said he would write up a few estimates for the work to be done at a later time. John was able to fix our current problem and the electricity was restored. This was all done within an hour of his arrival to our home. We were so relieved!! This problem would have been horrible on any day, but having this occur on the morning we were to be away for the weekend was over the top stressful! I am so very thankful and grateful for the owner Peter Gomez answering my call and getting John out so quickly! They both exude such professionalism, and empathy and the customer service is beyond a thousand stars! Here is my HECO review and review for True Power. Here's the main breaker for our unit that only HECO has access to. For a week we had little to no power at times. Lights flickering, lights dimming, no stove, no hot water, had to spend money for the laundromat. Hired an electrician, Josh, who said we needed HECO to come out because they have seen this before and it's usually the main breaker. But since HECO has tags on the panels, they cannot access it without permission. We called Hawaiian Electric multiple times explaining the issues at hand. We told them what our electrician said. But every time we were met with: your voltage looks fine on our end, it's likely something in your unit, your panel probably needs to be replaced and never, yes we should come out and look. We trusted their opinion. But enough was enough; the keiki couldn't take showers and we couldn't cook meals. We asked maintenance/HOA to call HECO and get them out to meet our electrician, which they did. And here is the result. A melted breaker. This is exactly what our electrician warned about. Lucky our electrician from True Power advocated for us to get HECO out. This easily could have caused a big ass fire for our unit or the complex. Used true power to fix some issues at my moms house. Other companies wanted to charge the same rate but insisted on 4 hour minimum. Thats crazy! Paying for 4 hours for a job that took 30 minutes. They were prompt and figured out my simple electrical issue: my old control panel needs a hard push to activate its switches. Painful and expensive lesson. I'm giving 2 stars because for that it cost over $200 with tax. I understand paying for someone's time, it's $195 per hour. I just thought I would be charged for the ACTUAL AMOUNT OF TIME, which was a fraction of that. I was told this is how all electricians charge. I will say that this is not ethical or fair, but it's how many businesses make a good profit. I don't know if electricians are using Hawaiian Electric as their ethical gauge, because that would explain why they don't see any issue. Pricing was completely fair and in line with what other legitimate electricians quoted me. *As a heads up, the first company I contacted is the one that has the most positive reviews on Yelp and that was a horrible experience. I feel scammed. They charged a $200 assessment fee to come out before they would even quote me and when they did give me the quote it was FIVE TIMES the going rate. My home has had minor electrical issues since it was built 20 years ago. Lately, some of them have become more prominent. Recently, I noticed my small oven shorting out and the outlets having burn marks and the faint smell of smoke. Luckily that day, a friend of mine had a card from this company, True Power Electrical, who had rewired her house so I decided to give them a call. The electrician spoke with me in detail about my issue, he told me what not to do and scheduled a time the next day to come to my home. He gave me a quote and I told him to just do the work.
