We hired E I Electrical to replace a few switches in our condo because our previous electrician was acquired by this company. They were able to come and inspect the work within a short notice and provided us with an on-site estimate. Everything seemed satisfactory until I was informed that the estimate would include a yearly fee for any future work. This fee would automatically provide us with a built-in discount for subsequent services. This was the first indication that something was amiss. Why would I want to pay an annual fee for work that had already been completed? Another peculiar aspect of their pricing was the flat rate fixed price for each item. They offered a similar approach to car repairs, where a flat rate is charged for parts like a quarter panel or hood. For an outlet in a switch, they had a flat fixed rate. They assured us that this included labor and materials. However, they failed to mention that they sourced the cheapest possible materials. They also stated that I could purchase the materials myself, but I lacked the time to do so. Consequently, I ended up having cheap switches, even though the price seemed exorbitant in my opinion. Given the urgency of the project, I had no choice but to agree. However, this is when the problems began. The project was initially promised to be completed in a day and a half or two at the most. Surprisingly, it took four days to complete the work. They arrived at the site by midday every day and proceeded to shop for materials for that day. Essentially, they had four half-day workdays. The workmanship was rated a 4.5 out of 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. The finish work was quite disappointing. They made numerous holes and neglected to save the drywall pieces to fit them back in, leaving me with a mess of mismatched drywall. They claimed they didn't typically put it back, but they didn't inform me of this when I agreed to hire them. To make matters worse, when I tried to reach the office staff or another representative they initially mistook me for a salesperson or someone trying to hassle me until I proved my identity as a customer. This was quite frustrating. It seemed like they prioritized their profits over my satisfaction. The phone representative kept talking and refused to listen. I don't believe he knew how to listen effectively. Fortunately, I received a call from the owner one day. He was quite pleasant, but it was evident that he has a personnel issue. I would never hired this company again and would never recommend them to anyone. On top of the shoddy work and unethical behavior, they attempted to double-charge me for my services. I noticed a second charge for a similar amount on my credit card, and initially, they denied it. I insisted they investigate the matter, as I had sent them a screenshot of my credit card. Eventually, they admitted to the mistake reversed the charges. Neither the owner nor the project manager called to apologize. In my opinion, their work, ethics, and overall business practices are extremely sloppy, unfriendly to customers, and unprofessional. read more

We needed a 240V outlet for our new electric vehicle, but our home has an unusual electrical configuration: 200 amps total, with 125 amps split into two sub-panels that first go through a Tesla solar gateway, and two Powerwalls. Being a good daughter I wanted to fix all the electrical issues for my Mom. So I called E I and first was so impressed by the customer service to initially set me up. Dan was so friendly and helpful. Then he fixed everything. Replaced the GFCI outlets in the kitchen. Explained how to avoid shorting them in the future (the hot water kettle is a nuisance!), and programmed out ceiling fans that were close together, so the remotes didn't turn on/off the other. After a handyman service failed to take the request, I sent the quote request to a bunch of Yelp recommended electricians. E I Electrical was the first to respond and made it to the house the same morning. Moriah listened as I shared what was happening and I could really see her listening and planning for what she was going to look for. Moriah got to work on the panel in question immediately and within 30 minutes had located the issue, fixed it and cleaned up the panel to prevent future issues. She then offered to check my other 2 sub-panels and made small fixes to potential issues that were found. I am 100% satisfied with the level of service and expertise. I haven't had an electrician to the house before, but will absolutely be using E I Electrical in the future when I do need help. I normally don't write reviews, but I had such a terrible experience with the phone operator that I feel I need to share. He was extremely rude to me and made me immediately hang up and decide not to use this business. All I did was kindly ask for a rough estimate for a simple job (20 feet of wiring from the breaker to create another outlet). The previous electrician I had just spoken to was able to give me a very rough ballpark number over the phone, so I thought it was a reasonable question. Instead, the operator snapped at me saying, "How can we give you a quote when we don't even know what's wrong?" The tone was completely unnecessary and disrespectful. If he had just explained calmly that they need to look at the job in person before providing an estimate, I would have completely understood. Instead, his rudeness turned me away instantly. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this one was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Nothing wrong with the quality of work itself. #1. They require a deposit just to come do a quote. So if you want your deposit back, you have to take their job. #2. Higher priced than expected. For repairing of 1 outlet, replace 1 outlet, add 1 outlet, and add 2 ceiling fans, came out to over $4k. Should have been more like $2500-$3K tops. But the worst part is the tech did not clean up after himself. I had to do all the cleanup, not stretching the truth at all. He left all his scrap and garbage on the floors. He didnt put back the furniture he moved. Got sheetrock dust all over my couch. #3 He had to borrow my ladder and stud finder. I would not recommend this company. read more

I needed an electrician because one of the circuits in my breaker box kept tripping. I called this company and was able to book an appointment quickly and easily--especially welcome after a couple of other companies flaked out on me. They cancelled the initial appointment from today to the next day, which was fine. However, the electrical issue resolved itself this afternoon, so I called to cancel. That's when I was told the $195 deposit was non-refundable. During booking, they had mentioned a charge, but I understood it would only apply if the technician showed up and performed an inspection with or without work. That was not the case. Joe informed me that the $195 fee applies simply for making the appointment--whether they come out or not. I was understandably upset. After some back-and-forth, Joe agreed to reverse the charge and not bill me after all. Thankfully. The booking process itself was fast and straightforward, and I appreciated that. But be very aware: this company charges a $195 non-refundable deposit just for scheduling an appointment, regardless of whether the technician ever shows up or any work is done. read more

My fiancé and i needed help confirming some covered ceiling fan outlets throughout our home as well as installation if it was feasible. Keep in mind that we pursued this on a monday before we were leaving the coming Saturday. we called dispatch on tuesday, seeing if they had availability for inspection and installation that week. Joe did a great job determining what was needed since he was communicating with me, with absolutely no knowledge in electrical. he was able to confirm that they had availability that thursday, and to call him back to schedule. so we went and bought our ceiling fans that day, called him back, and put us on the schedule for thursday morning. amazing! thursday comes around and Josiah comes by during his scheduled arrival time. he was quick about determining if the outlets were compatible (they were) and installing all the fans. maybe took him 30-45 mins each? he was quick, efficient, and most of all, so friendly and professional. after installation, he'd show us how to operate them and the rotations (we've never had ceiling fans before). i absolutely recommend this company based on their service, efficiency, and value. they are reasonably priced and feel like a company who values their clients. read more

I recently had our old electrical panel replaced by EI Electric. I want to recognize John Paul (JP) who was the electrician assigned for the project. He did an excellent job in installing the new electrical panel and rewiring all the old wires. He was very meticulous in his work to make sure that everything was removed and installed correctly. He took the time to explain to me exactly what he was going to replace and what will be installed. He seems to have a lot of professional experience in installing electrical panels. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and was very organized in his work. Our new electrical panel is so much cleaner and organized compared to the spaghetti mess of wires in the old panel. He labeled each panel switch clearly and neatly, so it was very easy to read. This was a big project and he went above and beyond to successfully install the new electrical panel where everything worked the first time he turned the power back on. He took him 2 days for this project and fortunately he had some much needed help on the second day where another great electrician, Alden, came to assist. They make a great team working together and Alden was also very neat and super friendly too. I highly recommend EI Electric for any electrical installs or problems. I had enough of taking showers in the dark for two weeks thinking I could change the tube lighting myself. I contacted E I and immediately after describing my issue Joe said the issue was probably the ballasts and said he could have a technician come out the next day! He was right! JP the technician was knowledgeable, kind, and explained what he was doing and why. I was even given different options with quotes. I chose the longevity option and they had availability that day to get the correct lighting and complete the job! JP noticed a few other things and walked me through his recommendations and reasoning. I have used E I Electrical since 2016ish and all the technicians and Joe have provided consistent quality work and I have never had an issue. during a home inspection Daniel and El Electrical said to the buyers that there's a 50/50 chance of this home their buying burning down do to some of the house still having aluminum wiring. They scare people into their extremely inflated pricing. Their quote was $30,000 to change 5 location of aluminum wiring. Also aluminum wiring is ok to have in the home. You just don't want to see aluminum branch off to copper. Horrible business and service! read more
