It's fun to wander around a big box hardware store for 2-3 hours, but ve big box hardware stores but can spend 2 hours finding things. It can be fun if you have the time, but savings are usually only on individual loss-leaders, and wondering, "I wonder where this could be." Perhaps this could be called a "curated" hardware store. They don't carry the crap, but still have quality items at most price points. The only real negative here is parking, but evenings and weekends are not a problem and it may take a bit, but there's always something within 2 blocks. As I wander in Hero Ace, I have time to look at items and remember, "Oh, I need one of those."

When I was struggling to mount a shelf, I got advice from one of the employees who was super friendly and explained to me exactly how to screw in the L brackets I was struggling with. He walked me over to the aisle and showed me exactly which screws would and wouldn't work for my project and explained to me how the screws would interact with different wall materials. Most recently I dropped by just before they closed to pick up drywall paste and a pallette knife. Despite me walking in ten minutes before they were supposed to shut, they didn't make me feel rushed at all and helped me find what I was looking for. I always prefer supporting a local business and I love having a neighbourhood hardware supply store I can count on with employees who feel kinda like family.

I got an email letting me know that my item was ready for pick up and I made the trip on a Saturday evening. I was greeted at the customer service pick up desk by a great young lady with an infectious smile and a great attitude. She had my item ready, helped me get it onto a cart and I took it outside without incident. Her and the other cashier that I interacted with were both very positive and I had a great interaction with both of them. I will not hesitate to come back.

With some trepidation, we ordered over 1,000 pounds of gravel in 22 bags. We're seniors and we needed the gravel delivered as close to the landscape area where it would be placed, as was possible. This required navigating a narrow driveway, while carefully avoiding ornate brickwork, mature tree branches and various shrubs and perennials. Not only did Lowe's send our delivery driver, Jerry, equipped with a forklift, uniquely engineered to manage difficult terrain and tight spaces, but Jerry was perhaps the most capable, skillful, caring and kind delivery person I've ever encountered. He took the time to understand exactly what we needed, and then skillfully fulfilled our hoped for objective, doing so with remarkable care. While there were no familiar faces, I was both amused and irritated by the blatant customer-avoidant behavior the store associates displayed that day. I watched one gentleman turn into the aisle my friend and I were in, look up and see us, did an immediate about-face with military precision and quickly retreated as fast as he could. Another walked by us, made brief eye contact, and then pulled out a piece of paper from his apron pocket staring at it as though it was the most interesting paper in the world. We checked out in the garden department with our bags of soil and little pots. The soil we bought had one of those easy to open tops that you just have to pull on. The cashier lifted the soil bag right at that spot tearing it open. My friend saw it but I didn't until we were loading the bag into the car. I shouldn't be surprised but I am disappointed.
