My feet need help lol so I needed to have help with a broken nail, calluses, etc so they would look cute for my barre classes too hah! She helped me find the right color (lavender). She also noticed my chair was very uptight and showed me I can lower the chair to a more relaxed position. Just moved to the area and decided to try this shop for my nails. My appointment was at 10:15. I walked in at 10:10, but my nails didn't start until 10:45. The tech was very nice and apologized multiple times. They do not offer acrylic so I went with dip. The service was very nice, but I absolutely hate my nails. They are all different shapes and sizes. I asked for square square and got some rounded square and some diagonals. None of my nails are straight or smooth. I don't know if it was just an off day, or if this typical quality, but I want to cry. read more

My hair stylist referred me to her nail salon, which I thought was this business, but ended up being Elegant Nails. I made an appointment to get a full acrylic set with cateye French tips and pedicure. The appointment was with the manager Mylissa and the overall initial appointment went well and we had a great conversation. Although I had a pedicure scheduled, they accepted a few walk-ins and told me they would no longer be able to do it and asked that I come in the following day (on a Saturday). This was somewhat annoying (especially considering this was my first experience with them), but I agreed and found a time. After my appointment and taking a closer look at my nails I realized she only used the nail drill (not an actual handheld buffer) to smooth the surface of my nails. I noticed many bumps and imperfections including residual acrylic under the nail and glitter outside of the French tip (even up to my nail-bed/ cuticles). I came in for the pedicure the following day which was scheduled with a different nail tech, however Mylissa was in and she's the first person that greeted me. She asked if I wanted to get the pedicure (pink color gel with cat eye) and I confirmed yes. I also in a very polite way asked if someone could buff my nails and repaint the surface with the top gel coat. She immediately got defensive and said that she wouldn't be available for a few weeks. I replied with "it's just buffing the surface and adding a top coat. The entire nail set does not need to be redone, nor will I be making any changes to the design." She then replied in an aggressive way that she's the only person that can do it. I then replied "you're saying your nail techs can't buff the surface of my nails and do a top coat? This is very simple and I would imagine they all are capable of doing this." She continued to say that she's the only person that could. I replied with I had a manicure and pedicure scheduled yesterday and came in again today and will not be coming in a 3rd time to get my nails done. This was extremely surprising, embarrassing and very uncomfortable as other clients (including the one sitting in-front of the manager) were also clearly uncomfortable by the situation. I'm shocked by the lack of customer service and the extremely unprofessional behavior of Mylissa. She offered no solutions, apology, nor did she try to remedy the situation in any way. Small concerns which could've been resolved very easily and could've resulted in an overall positive customer experience resulted in a very negative experience and poor customer review based on how the manager Mylissa handled the situation. I hope Mylissa comes to realize this and treats future new and existing customers with more respect and decency. I said "ok, I'll go somewhere else then" and drove a few minutes to Elegant Nails. They were able to get me in immediately, did an excellent job fixing my nail set (free of cost) & gave me a wonderful gel pedicure. I'll definitely be back to Elegant Nails but would never consider going back to Truelux. I hope the owner sees this review, addresses the situation / completely inappropriate and unnecessary response from the manager and reconsiders how they run their store. read more

I've been going to Truelux nail salon for about 6 months. I usually get a gel pedi and dip manicure. I went in on Sunday for a repair, one of my dipped nails came off. I wasn't due for a full mani just needed the one nail repaired. The woman (manager/owner?) who is always there was extremely rude when I walked in. She asked if my original manicure was done there and I told her that we had been traveling out of town and I had it done at a salon out of state, I then told her that I would pay for the repair. She seemed very put out by that. She then asked the gentleman to repair my nail. As he started the repair I immediately realized that he was not going to do a good job on the nail. He started painting it with gel nail polish and I told him that I had dip (not only did I make that clear when I walked in but you would think a nail tech would know the difference). He shrugged and continued to apply the gel. He was rude and seemed very rushed. I just wanted out at this point. I paid the $6 for the repair and will never return!!! Here is the repaired nail minutes after leaving the salon. Would not recommend!!! read more

When I asked them to fix them they said they don't know how to do it correctly. They cannot do nail art. I'm not sure why I was not informed of this before they started. I was out in this area and decided to find a nail salon for a pedi/dip nails. Truelux caught my eye because it had a detailed website of the services they offer, plus with a promotional new customer offer of 15% off on first time services. I called and made an appointment and got in earlier this morning. Lucy did an excellent job on my toes. Anna did a great job on my nails. I was one happy customer. When I got ready to pay I inquired about the new customer promotion listed on the website. Anna immediately told me that it was no longer in effect. I was confused because I did not see an expiration date on the promotional advertising. I showed Anna their own website with the promotional offer. She explained that under prior management it was good, but not anymore and refused to honor it. Anna said something about offering me 20% if I came back. I was very surprised by this less than acceptable customer service and false advertising. I told Anna that while I liked the services I was disappointed that they had false advertisement. I doubt I will return as I am certain like with many other nail salons in Austin I can certainly find the same quality of services, and much better customer service. #customerisalwaysright #FALSE advertising is not cool!! read more

Found this gem of a place under the former name "Emilie's". New owner, Julie, is in process of name change. I arrived with my 4 year old daughter as they opened at 9 am Saturday morning. Immediately we were seated for our pedicures after we decided on our type of service and selected from the vast color choices beautifully displayed on the back wall. It was my daughter's first pedicure and they were so sweet and patient with her. Mia was her technician and she didn't such a good job especially with all that squirming from my daughter. My pedicure was perfect! I had not been in too long and there was much "work" to be done. Tammy took good care of me with a nice leg massage and a flawless paint job. Prices were VERY treasonable. Went here today when my usual place was booked up. Figured why not try something new. My nails looked fine. The nail tech didn't do a bad job. But it was 2.5 hours for gel manicure and reg pedicure. For price that's more than what I pay for with paraffin wax, massage and special treatment as part of deluxe pedicure. Super disappointed. Definitely do not planning on ever going back. read more

Have been trying nail salons in lakeway. Was very hopeful for this one. Left with a less than decent polish on my toes or my nails. The y did two thin layers of polish and it was on my cuticles and finger tips. They were chipped by the next day and didn't look like they had been done by a professional. I took the polish off and redid it myself. It's lasted almost a week now and looks good professionally done.i didn't bother removing my toe nail polish but did paint over what had been done. This salon is under new ownership and they're still trying to get fully staffed. It's a beautiful, clean salon, very relaxing atmosphere. No TVs, just music. Olga does one of the best gel manicures I've ever had, all the while being very gentle with my natural nail. Most inefficient salon I have ever been to. The nails did look good when we left, however there was no sense of urgency with any of the techs. When we arrived (4 of us), there were no other customers and 3 techs there to help us. About 2 hours in we were still finishing up pedicures. Usually the techs foil your hands while getting a pedicure so that gel or sns comes off before starting the manicure. They don't do that here. Total time for 4 pedicures and 3 gel nails ended up being 4.5 hrs. For three technicians working, it seemed unreasonably long. I would have given three stars, however I got gel on my nails and one nail was chipped within a day of getting them done, and after 4 days, half of my nails are now chipped. They also said they don't do SNS when we went which is what I usually get, but gel typically holds up better than 5 nails chipped in less than a week. read more
