First time here. Called around 3 requesting a 6:30 reservation for six. Henry, the proprietor, stated he could take us at 7. Arrived at seven to a packed place (max occupancy 35), and our table was waiting for us. Multiple tables flipped while we were there, and at times there were diners waiting. Place was hopping. People were laughing, seemed to be really enjoying themselves. The plates of food looked good. Great sign. Three servers, ours was Tony, and he was fantastic. Knowledgeable, patient to all our questions, and prompt. Three bottles of wine, and 2.5 hours later, we were so happy and satiated. Our new favorite place! Mix of dishes from Spain, Italy and Greece. Fresh, quality ingredients. Fantastic Mom-n-pop place. We must have had 15 orders of tapas. All the seafood orders were great. Salads were great. Chicken, rack-o-lamb, pasta dishes were great. My fav's were the spanakopita, anchovies, bow ties, chicken with capers, lamb empanadas. Missed the oxtail, lamb shank, and pizza. Next time. read more

I'm not a regular reviewer. This place is glorious. It's like a dream restaurant for anyone who ever wanted to try it on their own and actually had the talent to do so. Henry is a presence. Henry is a food genius! Absolutely wonderful experience and food! The restaurant sits in a somewhat unexpected mini-mall, but when you walk in, the charm and ambiance are undeniable. I can't being to describe how amazing and happy I am to see this place open! Henry, the owner, previously had a restaurant in Fountain Valley that we loved. When we heard about Truffle Bistro opening, we immediately made plans to get down there. I'll start at the beginning, we brought two bottles of wine. We weren't informed before, but corkage was $15 / bottle. Very reasonable, but probably could have been communicated. Regardless, it's posted here and you're reading this, so you know now! I'll start with ambiance. The place is, to say the least, lovely. Great style, great colors and look, and nice lighting. If you're looking for a more romantic/dim dining experience, make sure you sit more toward the windows. We sat near the kitchen which was fine, but the lighting from the open kitchen was definitely brighter. Great for people who want to see their food and the menu, but not great for those looking for a more date-like experience. Regardless, the place is very well appointed and very nicely decorated. After reviewing the menu we opted to do the tapas style as we were there with close friends who also love a more "sampling" kind of menu. Most of the menu sounded amazing, and so we made a selection of items to start with. All the food started to come out after a few minutes and each dish was cooked to perfection and perfectly spiced/flavored! As we have come to expect from Henry, his attention to detail and quality of cooking is astounding. The ONLY downside to the meal is that there wasn't bread to sop up the sauce, which Henry was more than happy to provide us with something upon request. Our server Tony was very nice, attentive, and informative. The perfect combination of taking care of us without being intrusive. He was absolutely slammed with a very busy Tuesday night. Several large groups with a lot of walk-ins made the place packed. We did see a couple groups having to wait, even with an open table it took a bit to get them seated. The place is great, so be prepared to wait (didn't mean for that to rhyme). But Tony was doing the best he can with running all the tables by himself. This is a great place to go with a group, but larger groups may have a problem. Reservations are recommended if you're time constrained. They do have a bar overlooking the kitchen, but it's not really a social bar area to hang out waiting for a table. I imagine they're very accommodating but be ready. Definitely a highly recommended place to swing by! I can't wait to stop by for lunch and give that a review! read more

I love this place. I feel like I'm in a bistro in Europe. The food is great, the atmosphere is inviting and the Chef and staff are amazing.

We got a few tapas and the food was amazing. There was this shrimp in a tomato sauce and omg it was incredible! You could tell the chef cared about what he was putting out and it showed. The staff was great, nice quiet atmosphere and food was great. I'm excited to go back and try more. read more

Ok. Wow. So glad they are here! Tapas done right in a little strip mall in Orange. We live less than two miles away in Old Towne and we will be regulars... the food is EXCELLENT. We had tapas: Brussels Sprouts, Lamb Meatballs, Lamb Chop, Spanikopita and HOMEMADE Tiramisu. It was all delicious. We will be back to try the lamb shank and lemon chicken. They looked wonderful! The service was very attentive and extremely hygienic. My husband and I appreciate that the handwashing sink is in plain view and that everyone uses it regularly. Love the open kitchen and the friendliness. Looking forward to our next visit. :-) read more

Stumbled across this restaurant looking to take my mom out for her birthday dinner, last month. Such a treat! Delightful staff, yummy appetizers/small plates and the desserts were amazing! It was a while since we went to this place (maybe 4 months), but I really just wanted to be sure not to come back for tapas. The other main dishes looked pretty good. Our first time to Truffle Bistro last night, although the eatery has been open more than a year just around the corner from us. What a treat to discover the gourmet version of a speakeasy on our doorstep. This is a high quality European style tapas restaurant with the choice between small plates and regular entrees but we stayed with the tapas menu for our first experience. It was excellent. As fine as anything you will find in Barcelona, the home of "tapas" dishes. Add in a wonderful ambience, professional and knowledgeable service and Henry, the Chef-owner who takes pride in management by walking about, and this all adds up to a place to keep. It was busy while we were there and I'm sure that word of mouth and the excellent reviews that are accumulating will only increase patronage. That is well deserved. So now, before thinking about defaulting to the Circle in Orange, there's an off Broadway option that is as good as the best in this town, maybe better. On Tustin, between Walnut and Collins. Thanks to Henry for spending time at our table on our first visits - because he obviously cares. Thanks to Tony our server who explained the dishes and options and made great recommendations for favorites. It was a fine first evening and we will be back. read more

Truffle Bistro is amazing! We ordered tapas items and main dishes as well. Everything was so delicious and well presented. The brussel sprouts were a table favorite along with the cauliflower, lamb meatballs and caprese salad. We also ordered and half rack of lamb which came with rice, veggies and a delicious sauce. I should have taken pictures but we were too busy enjoying it! The prices were very humble which enticed us to order/ try other items. The owner Henry is extremely attentive and insured his customers are happy and well taken care of. Happy to see such a great place in town! read more

As an Orange local, I took notice when this new place opened. I've been for dinner twice now and both times I was very impressed. The menu selection is extensive without being overwhelming. I'm a firm believer, that a few menu items done to perfection is better than a huge menu with mediocre execution. Everything I tried at Truffle Bistro was delicious! My first visit, I had the truffle fries to start and the grilled salmon with vegetables for my entree; both were amazing! My second visit, I had the Brussel sprouts and garbanzo bean salad to start; both were very good. The salad was light and refreshing although I prefer mine a tad more seasoned; nothing some lemon and salt didn't fix. For my main course, I had the Spanish Seafood Stew. The dish was very hardy and so flavorful! I also tried a bit of my fiancé's lamb shank and it was tender and juicy; he enjoyed it! All in all, this place is a gem and I'll def be back. read more

First time eating at Truffle Bistro and we were pleasantly surprised! We sat at the bar and order beer, wine and small plates.....lots of small plates! Everything was delicious! We had a jumbo seared scallop served on risotto, artichoke hearts in Cajun sauce, bruschetta, caprese salad, tiramisu ..... I would recommend them all! Our server Katie was attentive and helped us make great choices and Henry was very personable and we hope Truffle Bistro does well. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Chef Henry knows what he is doing! He's created a warm, casual place where anyone can find something they'll want to eat. His menus draws from Greek, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and some Cajun French recipes served as either Tapa's (small plates) or as full entree's. And, because none of these localities can eat good food without some type of alcohol, there is a nice (but small) selection of beers and wines. I think 99% of those who review Truffle Bistro will probably give it 5-stars, but I'm reserving my last star until I've been there a few more times. I did see a few places where he could improve but, for only two months in business, I'm sure Henry will soon be hitting on all cylinders! I'm definitely giving him my "Worth going again!" recommendation! Been there now three times. This is definitely a 5-star restaurant!!! read more

Fabulous! We tried Truffle Bistro for the first time last night and were excited a great new place has opened in Orange. We tried the fried cauliflower, olive selection, clams and mussels and the special of the day duck breast in pomegranate reduction. Loved everything, the cook on the cauliflower was on point and the aioli that top it is wonderful. The olives were sprinkled with a little Feta cheese that really perks up their flavor. Calms and mussels are served with a fantastic crusty bread and swimming in a delicious white wine broth, as good as Belgian mussels and clams. The crispy duck breast was perfectly rendered and the pomegranate reduction had wonderful flavor. Servers are charming, wine list very good, we will be back! read more

Omg I went to truffle bistro because a friend told me about it's a nice little place in Orange a wine bar it is tapas style and if you sit at the bar you can see the chef make all your food and he's super nice his name is Henry also the service you get from his waiter Tony omg you feel like your in a fine dinning restaurant he knows a lot about wine and he describes everything so vividly plus he's handsome lol over all not a bad place to spend $50 dollars for an amazing cute experience !!! read more
