The PB açaí protein smoothie had 59g of protein and was thick, creamy, and really filling. The Tropical Dream smoothie literally tasted like a vacation in Mexico. So refreshing. For my bowls, I mixed the bases and did half oat matcha with açaí for one and half coconut with açaí for the other. The coconut base was unreal. Easily my favorite. I was obsessed with the flavor. The service too was really great. The lady that helped me and made our yummy treats was super nice and friendly! Healthy, delicious, and actually satisfying. Delicious, fresh, and best of all - right in my neighborhood, Truly Açaí featured the freshest Acai bowls/smoothies I've tried so far in LA. In addition to Acai bowls, the Brazilian bread and empanadas are top tier as well. The ham + cheese empanadas were my favorite. The only drawback is parking, as it's in Koreatown. But that's what Uber Eats and DoorDash is for (TA is on all the major food delivery apps). I was luckily able to find free street parking a block away when I visited. read more

I actually don't like trying acai places because they can be so hit and miss. Sometimes the acai can be like a frozen hockey puck and sometimes it can be bland. That was absolutely not the case here. I thought the acai was delicious. The serving size is about the same size container you would see at a frozen yogurt place, which was sufficient for me. Something I found interesting was that usually acai places offer pretty basic other options such as sandwiches and paninis. Here it was Brazilian cheese bread and also empanadas, which I would like to try if I'm back in the area. Guava flavor is on point and it's a bit sweeter than the regular açaí (I got both flavors to compare). My sister and I got horrible food poisoning from here!!! I got a too good to go order from here and obviously with food from the end of the day or maybe even a day or two in the freezer it's not going to be perfect but Jesus CHRIST was that horrible. It tasted like play dough and the fruit tasted old. I know it wasn't something else I had aten since this food poisoning only struck my sister and I. A star for the nice lady at the front though. Funny I found this place just by searching "acai" in my Google Maps and thank goodness I did find it. This is the best acai place I've ever eaten in Los Angeles. The portion sizes are amazing. The quality of the ingredients are so fresh you can taste it in each bite. Seeing the employee actually cut up fruit slices to put in my bowl put a smile on my face. Not to mention he was extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself a tiny cozy little slice off of 3rs Street. The ambiance is very reserved with great uplifting music playing. I had a very unfortunate experience being harassed at this store, like I was a criminal. I always order the same smoothie so I was surprised today when my smoothie was a different color than usual. I took a sip and it tasted different, too. I went back to the counter and politely informed the male staff member that I had ordered a different drink (and I remember the drink he gave me must have been the one the woman behind me ordered). I proceeded to be verbally berated and told there was no way that I ordered a different smoothie. In a threatening tone, the staff says he will check the cameras to confirm. He make a brief phone call in the back and says that allegedly I did order the smoothie he made for me, but his boss said it was okay for him to make me another one. Ok, weird, but I don't care about being right or not - I just want my normal smoothie. As he is making it, I throw away the first smoothie in the only garbage can - I had taken a few sips and obviously it would not be sanitary to try to return it. When he returns with my new smoothie, I am immediately spoken to again in a threatening tone, "Where is the other smoothie?" I informed him I threw it away because I had taken a sip. He proceeds to begin looking through the garbage and pulls the first smoothie out! I get out of the store as fast as I can and I was so rattled from the whole event. I guess just know if you're ordering from there - you may be receiving a smoothie that was taken from the garbage. read more
