I've been wanting to look for laser skin resurfacing, but it is a costly procedure, and results vary from impressive, to hardly noticeable. I chose to do microneedling because it is a more affordable option as compared to laser, and is performed in sessions, which means you don't have to pay a higher fee upfront. Both of my sessions have been performed by Shy, who is incredibly sweet and professional! She is very thorough in her works, and makes sure to update you as she continues through the many steps involved to carry out the microneedling. The sessions take approximately one hour, which include skin cleansing, application of anesthetic, and the actual microneedling. For my procedure, I opted to get the ampoule and led light therapy, two add-one that are fairly inexpensive and aid in the healing process. Results: While it is too soon to notice full results (according to research I've read, full results can take up to six months to show, as they rely on collagen formation), there are a few things I've noticed. For one, my skin feels more taught. It also seems to glow a lot more in the days following the treatment. I did have a patch of red, flaky, irritated, bumpy skin across my right cheek that has completely disappeared since my first treatment. Shy mentioned that the deepest my microneedling session went was .75mm. There is a more advanced, deeper form of microneedling offered at the salon, and I'm working towards getting that one performed for more dramatic results, and to help with the deeper acne scars. Ekaterina explained to me that because it is a more aggressive procedure, she recommends building the skim up with a milder form of microneedling to acclimate it initially.
