First (and last) time here. Very loud place with 20+ TV's. Ordered a tenderloin sandwich with fries. The fries were delivered to the table ice cold, not the slightest hit of warmth. The sandwich was hot. Was going to send them back but server disappeared for 20 minutes and I didn't want my sandwich to get cold, so I just ate the sandwich. Then when we were ready to pay our bill the server disappeared again for 30 minutes. Don't understand how a business can stay open operating this way. read more

We love a good time at Truman's! They always have wonderful specials each day of the week and their bourbon selection is sublime. Good food but the service is terrible. It's a crap shoot on what kind of service you are going to get when you go here.

Let me start by saying that I understand it's spring break, however... that doesn't discount the fact people come in to pay money for services or goods and they expect it to be good. We sat for 15 minutes before being seen there were maybe 30 people in the place and 3 servers plus a bartender. I ordered a simple tap beer that tasted skunked and there was way too much foam to beer ratio. My partner ordered what she thought was a pineapple margarita and we both agree that what they made was just pineapple juice and some kind of alcohol but no tequila in it at all and was honestly appalling. Then we move on to the food, which the appetizer was great the okra was cooked right and the ravioli was great, that only and the sever that we finally got were the only things saving this review. I got a berries and cream burger which the sauce was great and the burger was great but just throwing a few blobs of cream cheese on was border line criminal to the burger. All in all this place used to be a great spot but has gone drastically down hill and they either need a bar rescue type change or the owner needs to get involved quick before it gets worse. read more

I have came to Truman's my whole life, my sister used to work here, i have many friends who work here so i thought why not apply. My friend told me to go in and speak to someone there to apply. I go in and I speak to Hallie Reams at the server stand. Off the bat, she was incredibly rude, looking me up and down. I asked her to speak to a manager about applying. she said there was no manager, so I asked for an application. She said she would look for one, goes behind the bar for 3 seconds, comes back, and says they do not have any, then she said "you can apply on indeed and they might reach out to you". the whole interaction was very rude and frustrating considering I was just coming in to try to apply and be apart of the team. I came in smiling trying to be very nice, and she made the whole interaction very uncomfortable and mean. read more

Food was horrible... Nacho cheese taste like water. Then we had Emily as our waitress she was cool till we told her we didn't want the nachos, took them back then thought we were gonna pay for them. I wish I lived in Columbia - this place is fantastic! I ate my weight in buffalo chicken and tater tots, and washed it down with some Blue Moon. The ambience is perfect - unpretentious and laid back. The staff was very helpful getting the Celtics game on one of the TVs, and our waitress was great - attentive but not "in your face". I can't wait to eat here again! read more

This is not a handicap accessible restaurant. Me and my sister who is in a wheelchair visited the restaurant. The building is handicapped accessible but the restaurant has one table that a wheelchair could be used. Two ladies were already sitting there. I walked around the entire place and they only had bar seats and tables available. It was embarrassing for us because the two female servers on duty said absolutely nothing at all. They just watched us walk around until we left the establishment. I was shocked at the lack of attention given by the staff in the matter. Very disappointing. read more

I made a pit stop into Truman's on a Saturday evening around 5pm to satisfy a massive nacho craving of all things. I figured I would take advantage of their daily happy hour from 4-7 and get a deal of the matter. For 7.35 I got a HUGE plate FULL of yellow corn chips, nacho cheese, jalapeno peppers, olives, grilled chicken chucks, diced tomato and onions. It also comes with a side of salsa and sour cream. Now I will note that if your not one for the "cheesy" fake cheese sauce like you find at the ball park, then this on not for you as it comes heavy on the stuff. Its has no real cheese contained within it. As one who prefers the real deal, this concoction still works for me. It comes sans black beans as well which for me is what makes real nacho dishes more authentic. I made it about 2/3 the way through the mass of crunch and color and that was it, the rest was boxed and brought home. Enough for 2 if not 3 people with big appetites. Not quite what you would find at Addisons for several reasons but this one ranks up on my top 5 nacho dishes I have ever had to this point. Well worth what you pay for to say the least. read more

This is a great, all around sports bar. Spacious, all the TVs and all the games. Large menu (including breakfast) serving up better-than-average pub grub. I came here with family to catch up, watch two football games (Mizzou, naturally, and the Nebraska game as I'm from Omaha). And eat and drink a little. Truman's allowed us to do all the above. Service was friendly and fast. My Busch Lights were in bottles, which I prefer. Most from our group opted for the $7.50 AYCE buffet full of two types of wings, salad, nachos and fried ravioli. No complaints from them. I opted for the elk burger, as I'd never had elk before (I think). Couldn't really tell the diff between beef, especially with all the toppings, but it was a good-ass burger, served with just the right amount of pink. Add in a side of sweet potato waffle fries and it was a good deal for $10.50. Bathrooms were a little gross, but hey they had the Husker game playing face-level above the urinal. Typical sports bar and food. Good table layout, pool tables and TV set up but the service in general is delayed long wait times for the drinks and food. Bonus at this spot is they serve breakfast all day and it's good. If I could give no stars, I would. my boyfriend spent $125 for a takeout order, in which we were traveling 2 mins literally to get back home, waited over an hour for the food for it to be cold, NOT EVEN WARM. He reached out to the restaurant to ask to get it remade, was told they were closing and the manager would be in contact w us in the morning. Never did call so he went in, was told the manager wasnt there, they took information and told the same message. Never heard back so he went in again, was given a phone with the manager on the other end who was nothing but foul on the phone and called the cops on him for trespassing, while he sat in a chair and was belitted for requesting HOT FOOD. this place is disgusting, along with the humans there. This restaurant is an episode of Kitchen Nightmares waiting to happen. We waited a long time for food that was all reheated from frozen anyway. Only half our table got their dishes, but they had to wait about 5 minutes for utensils before someone grabbed a different waitress and asked for some. Then when the rest of us got our plates, my burger didn't have a top bun and they sprinkled powdered sugar on my sweet potato fries. Gross. We also learned a lot about caesar salad. Someone at my table ordered one, which is the pile of crap in the photo. The waitress then argued with us about it being a caesar salad when we told her it wasn't. Her response: "We are not a fancy restaurant." You don't need to be fancy to put some croutons and caesar dressing on some romaine lettuce, but I guess they're just waiting for Gordon Ramsay to come tell them that. We then had to wait a long time for our check. Food was bad and service was even worse. Don't waste your time on its "and grill" aspect of the restaurant. It should just be Truman's Bar. This is one of the most alrightest places ever. I'm always coming to because the food is constant. If you want breakfast at 7 in the evening, or dinner at 7 in the morning, you'll get the same thing. The only reason i won't give 5 stars is their lack of improvisation. I wanted chicken and waffles, and though they delivered on chicken and French Toast, they didn't do a good job on the presentation. They wouldn't let me order just 2 slices of French Toast. To be fair - I was having a pretty good time, the food/prices were decent and their beer selection wasn't bad. I came here tonight at about 5:15 for the 5:30 Mizzou game against UCONN. I came in with my soon to be mother in law. Her son, my boyfriend plays for Mizzou. We got a great seat in front of a big TV and a little after the 3rd it was changed to hockey for ONE table. They seemed to be playing favorites with that table anyways. I asked to have it changed back and our waitress went to the back to ask and they pretty much refused. Sorry I came here to watch a game, made an effort to continuously order so we weren't just hogging a table. Our waitress was fine, she did what she could but whoever was in the back is the reason for the 2 star review. If you looked in our area everyone's back was turned to try and watch the Mizzou game. Terrible. Long hour or (usually) more waits for food. Food comes out incorrect or cold. Tables are filthy and servers are too important to clean them when asked. Management is lucky to serve alcohol at this place as their skills in management is lacking at best and is sinking the place and losing customers. One of the better sports bars in Columbia. The food is actually really good - they have a huge menu that I did not expect when I first came here. Unique burgers, amazing wings (personal favorite is the Thai), and they freakin have a breakfast menu - and a freakin buffet on Sundays?! The staff is prompt and happy to serve. They also have pool tables, and I hear karaoke is a good time. The only down side is they are on the west side of town away from Downtown or other happening bars. Needless to say there are many other sports bar restaurants around and we will make better decisions next time. Honesty and customers are not thier priority. Sad. On the recommendation by a friend, we stopped in here before Mizzou's first football game of the year to fuel up before the rest of the night. The ambiance is awesome - I love how nice the staff is, the other visitors were friendly and every where you turned there was a tv within your view. They have a great menu, if you can't find something to satisfy your craving then I'm not really sure where else you would go. I recommend that if you choose fries for your meal, pick the waffle fries - you won't be disappointed! Only "issue" I have is with the people who come last minute to watch the game, get upset that they can't find an open table, and literally stand by a table to get you to leave. We had tickets to the game, we were leaving as soon as we paid our bill. Two patrons saw that and stood by the other 2 chairs at our table, literally staring at us. Please, you don't want people to do that to you, at least step away and then come over as you see us leaving. I understand that this is a popular place to watch the game, but I'd like to enjoy my visit as well. All was fine until that happened. However I won't let the above issue bother me because everything else was great and I do know that we found a new stomping ground when in Columbia! read more
