    Pulled pork

There's a reason these folks are on the TM best list! Ate here on a steamy Saturday, and we were thankful for a short line, a covered waiting area and cold Lone Star beer for the wait. There is some seating available in the restaurant, but seating is mostly outside (largely covered, with fans going, thank goodness!). The service is fast and extremely friendly! We split a 3 meat (brisket, pulled pork, brisket boudin sausage) 2 sides (famous Brussels sprouts and pinto beans). The brisket and pork were dynamite! Brisket was a good mix of lean and moist, beautifully smoked. Pulled pork was soooo moist!!! Pintos were very flavorful classic Texas beans. Brussels were sweet and very lightly spicy. I love a good potato bread and they serve Martin's here. I could have eaten my weight in their house made pickles...they are the perfect foil to the richness of the meats. Both sauces were also fab --a classic bbq with a little extra vinegar than some, and a great mustard based sauce. We didn't have dessert, but the cakes look divine!! May have to come back just for those! Truth is a fantastic representation of classic Central Texas 'cue and we will certainly stop by next time we are in the area!

The whole experience was amazing. We went this Sunday, came a little early but no lines and easy access to the ordering the whole time we were there so coming early is not necessary . Food is amazing, one of the top two I have had in BBQ. Love the brisket and turkey the best and all the sides are right up my alley. I definitely would stop by again. The food, sides, hospitality of the business and staff, the outdoor dining was nice and clean. We had two small dogs with us and were not afraid of them eating or picking up anything by accident. Food is 5 stars, checking out my pictures, it's definitely worth the drive for this BBQ.

After several attempts to get in the Washington Ave. location, I tried the Brenham location in route to visit family. I was the first person in line. The next group in line was a military family of eight, most from California, visiting a Texas A&M student. They were great company! A 90-minute wait and a 90-minute drive to Belton was all that stood me and a great meal. I ordered 1/2 lb brisket, 1/2 lb ribs, 2 links of their original sausage, beans and coleslaw. The servers were very generous with the the condiments, bread and utinsils. The restaurant had good vibes all around... the patrons, the staff, the decor. I even enjoyed the blues that they played while we waited... foot-tapping duet with BB King and Tracy Chapman singing The Thrill is Gone. The meats and the sides were all top-rate, certainly deserving of the acclaim that Truth BBQ has earned. I moved on to the next leg of my roadtrip fat, happy and satisfied.

Driving around Texas eating great BBQ and telling you the highs, the lows and where to go. Drove out to Brenham, Texas on a Saturday morning to eat BBQ at the original Truth BBQ. Arrived around 10:45am , place opens at 11am. A few people in line and only street parking available behind the place. Free Lone Star beer makes the wait enjoyable on a warm Texas day. My crew of four got the Texas Trinity and added 1/2 pound of brisket along with a slice of carrot cake. Sides we got potato salad and Brussel sprouts. Brisket 9/10 is was good but not a 10/10 Ribs 8/10 as they are good but could have been more tender. Sausage we got 1 link of each type 10/10 but my favorite was the brisket boudin. At 99.75 plus our add ons this enough food for 3 guys and little me. We sat outside as it was a picture perfect day for Texas Saturday. I would return and I highly recommend this place to everyone driving on 290 on the weekends early morning.

Brisket was perfect. Melt in your mouth tender. Jalapeño sausage - outstanding. Pulled pork moist and delicious! Sides - fantastic! Servings were huge. Free beer while you wait, but no wait for us. Worth visiting. Service was fast and friendly

Food was absolutely delicious!!!! Best we've had hands down!! The guys were also super friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately we went a little late so they were out of a lot but we still enjoyed what we had. Obviously the brisket, with the creamy Mac and cheese and the Brussel sprouts were absolutely world famous as advertised. Again we enjoyed everything, so we will definitely be coming back and that's the "TRUTH!!"

Arrived at 12:05 pm on Friday, 2 meats left brisket and pork ribs. Ordered Brisket, pork ribs, and jalapeno sausage. Brisket was moist, smoked to perfection. Ribs was seasoned extremely well, meat was moist and fell off the bone. Sausage had a great snap, delicious, ground to my liking The original is definitely way better

    Lena T.

Like most other reviews the sides here are pretty amazingly good. The corn pudding was definitely unique (something I've never had before) and oh my The brussel sprouts was to die for. The brisket was moist, flavorful, and just down right rich. We are brisket people and truth doesnt disappoint. The ribs were pretty good but we definitely enjoyed the brisket more. The hot sauces were a great addition to the meats and the tables are cleaned off, turned around pretty quickly and there was never a giant mound of trash or trays left around unattended for long. They also have to go containers for any leftovers by the utensils and soda fountain area. The staff were super friendly, helpful, and quick to clean up any messes. We made a stop here before flying out so we had 3 pieces of luggage with us that they were able to accommodate and store off to the side. I definitely look forward to coming back.

Holy crap. It was so lucky that we even ended up here. My husband and I were visiting some family in Houston, and we came super excited to experience Texas BBQ. We were driving with my family to Austin, and my cousin happened to recognize the logo on the side of the road and we immediately turned around. Best decision ever. The line is so long. It went way out the door and only for worse after we got there. Shoutout to the beautiful people of Truth BBQ that had free water and beer for us waiting. The one employee is a prankster though. He was coming out to denote that the beef ribs and turkey were sold out. He went to go mark the brisket as sold out, but just as everyone in line was about to have a heart attack, he said he was joking. Ha ha ha. Speaking of the brisket. Best I've ever had, and it's not close. We ordered so much once we finally got to the front of the line. And the sides are absolutely worthy of writing home about, especially the mac and cheese. The carrot cake was heavenly as well. Make it a point to stop here. It's absolutely worth the drive and the wait.

Texas Trinity platter -- fed 6 on my visit
    Andrew B.

Truth BBQ in Brenham has been on my radar for quite a while, but I don't make it to that town very often. Well yesterday that changed after my family visited Blue Bell Creameries & man was it good. My family of 6 ordered their Texas Trinity platter to share, 1lb each of brisket & ribs & 3 sausage links (regular, jalapeño cheddar, brisket boudin), plus we added 1/4lb of turkey for my youngest. Sides for our order were mac n cheese & brisket beans. If I had to rank each the entree items from favorite to least favorite, I would go 1/brisket, 2/jalapeño cheddar sausage, 3/boudin, 4/ribs, 5/turkey, 6/mac n cheese, 7/brisket beans, & 8/regular sausage. Dont let this ranking fool you, though, because I would return & eat all of this again in a heartbeat. Their brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, & brisket boudin are special dishes. Truth is some of Texas' best IMO! Service was fast & friendly. The most negative things about our visit were parking, highway noise, & they only have a single, unisex public bathroom.

    I'm soo ready for this!!

March 26, 2023 Came for the bluebonnets but, wanted to try this place because I read it was one of the top 10 best bbq places in Texas. Truth be told ... I've had better. Sorry, Leonard Botello IV...I'm not sure you were grilling in Brenham today but, there was nothing memorable about ANY of the food and I spent $40. I got 3 meat... brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs. Corn pudding, collards and coleslaw. Pulled pork looked like scraps and it had way too much fat in it; grossed me out. The brisket was dry so I used the bbq sauce... that tasted sweet and sour, sour like vinegar; didn't like it. The ribs were tasty and had plenty of meat. Corn dressing... blah..no onion, no nothing... The collards were ok but needed more salt & pepper, at least more ham... the coleslaw... was decent, I prefer sweeter. Dublin TX take on big red soda was great. For the money... disappointed

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, with a nicely decorated dining area and plenty of seating. The staff was incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. But of course, the real star was the food. Let's start with the brisket. I tried both the lean and the moist cuts, and they were both cooked to absolute perfection. The bark was fantastic--a deep, flavorful crust that gave way to incredibly tender meat. We were also offered a sample of the burnt ends, and they were delicious, a rich and savory bite that left me wanting more. The Hatch Chili Oaxaca sausage was another highlight. It had a smooth, mild flavor that let the sausage itself shine. The cheese had a nice texture and a subtle hint of chili that wasn't overpowering. The ribs were also outstanding. They had a great bite, just the right amount of pull from the bone, and a wonderful flavor. The classic salt and pepper rub was perfectly balanced, enhancing the meat without dominating it. For the sides, I was impressed with the potato salad. It was wonderfully creamy, loaded with big pieces of potato and bacon, and had just the right amount of onion for a nice tang. The mac and cheese was also great, with a very creamy sauce that had a fantastic flavor. While the noodles were a little on the softer side, it didn't take away from how delicious the dish was overall. Overall, this is a top-tier barbecue joint that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly great BBQ experience.

I always try to be supportive of small, locally owned businesses everywhere I go. Look at some of my other reviews, it will bear this out. For once, it wasn't a Sunday when we were passing by and we weren't in a hurry, so we thought we'd stop for lunch. It looks like everything you'd expect for a barbecue restaurant. Everything rustic and country. There was a menu painted on the wall with no prices anywhere. They have a nice selection of sides in meats. My wife ordered the 2 Meat Plate with Brisket and Sausage, Potato Salad and Pinto beans. I was thinking about Pork Butt; however, when I saw it , I decided to pass. Strike 1! I ordered the Brisket Plate with Black -Eyed Peas and Coleslaw. When the young woman handed it to me, It had Pintos on it rather than Black-Eyed Peas. When I cited the error she indignantly snapped, "That's what you ordered!" Strike 2! (who argues with civil paying customers?) I said, " I'm not trying to be any trouble. I just want what I ordered." at which point the older woman told her to give me a side of Black-Eyed Peas, which at this point seemed completely academic. We found a table, found our way to the drinks and also to the Barbecue Sauce and various condiments. I really wish I could say that this was the best Barbecue that I ever put in my mouth but unfortunately, I have to say just the opposite. Strike 3! This is singularly the worst barbecue experience that I have ever had anywhere in Texas or elsewhere in the country. The Brisket was gray, dry, and there wasn't a smoke ring in sight. It was no better than the Pork Butt had looked to me, in fact it was probably worse. My wife loves Sausage and she is not as discriminating about it as I am, but she said that was the worst Sausage she ever bought from a Barbecue Restaurant in her life, and she's the lifelong Texan in this couple, not me. I see mixed reviews out there besides my own and I'm wondering if perhaps the problem here is just inconsistency with the food because other than that and the little service blip, this wasn't a horrible meal but it was pretty far from a good one. Sorry Nathan's, I so wanted to like you.

My first impression was yes this is a good thing. To place an order, you must approach a tent covered kiosk and type in your order with your phone number and they will text you when your order is ready that's the simple part...... the hard part is actually getting the order that you placed . A customer in front of me ordered several sandwiches only to find out that some of her items were not placed in her bag, and they actually recalled her order, and they had to simply reassemble the order altogether; that was rather depressing, but I thought, simply by ordering three items they could not mess up my order.....Not so fast. I simply ordered a rack of ribs, 1 pound of sliced turkey and a single individual order of collard greens.. when I got home, I realized that they did not include the collard greens. Wow technically 1/3 of my order was missing altogether. As for the quality of the food that I actually received, the ribs were quite large and flavorful although I thought the smoky flavor was a bit much but the turkey was absolutely fabulous. I could cut it with a fork. . They do include sauce and other condiments, but they're spicy sauce was way too spicy for any of us to consume, and their sweet sauce must've been made with an overabundance of molasses because we threw those sauce packets away. So the spicy sauce must've been prepared in the house because you had to dip it into a container while you waited for the food to be prepared but the sweet sauce was in a pre-packaged container and yet there was no indication of any ingredients, even though it was obviously Prepared by an off site vendor(probably H-E-B out of San Antonio) . I suggest having a bottle of "Head" sweet barbecue sauce, handy to enhance the meal. Although they did offer pickles and onions with the order, there was barely enough to simply cover two slices of bread. I spent over $60 for this meal, and to get such a lame amount of condiments is unacceptable. They at least should have asked me how many portions of pre-bagged, onions, and pickles That I would like to have included with my order. I will give them another try because I have yet to sample their brisket and other highly anticipated items on their menu ..........
