We celebrated my son's birthday at Truva in April and they made the day truly special. A special thank you to our waitress, Büşra, whose warmth, attentiveness, and exceptional service made the celebration unforgettable.

Ordered takeout many times and finally went to dine in for lunch in a party of 6. Portions are so generous and service is hospitable and with a smile. Bathrooms can be challenging if there's a long line as over the weekend there was only one open. Chicken souvlaki and chicken gyro plates were so juicy & tender. Also loved the Turkish coffee (it was different) and Turkish beer. Love the vibes and decor. Looking forward to coming back

I don't know what it is about this restaurant but I can never get a picture of my full plate. Once the plate comes, I'm ready to eat! It's so so good

Outside you'll see this cute chef inflatable urging you to go inside. Inside there are plenty of tables and service is quick and efficient. They close at 9:45 pm, so make sure you're there earlier. We were there at 9:15, they warned us about closing, but accommodated is anyway, which was great. The lamb chops were over cooked and lacked much flavor. We also got the mixed grill. It came with several types of meat. The most delicious, and reason alone to come back were the lamb shish kabobs. They were mildly seasoned, allowing the meat to shine, and cooked to perfection. I'm not a white meat fan in general, because it's easy to overcook... but the chicken shish kabobs were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. I enjoyed them. The rest of the meat was ehh.. the dish included chicken and lamb gyro meat, and compared to the chunks it was just okay. I was very disappointed with the adana kabobs, it was overcooked and lacked flavor. Don't sleep on the salad and the rice that come with the plate thought. They were both very flavorful and added to the dish. The awesome rice pudding is a must here. It was fantastic. It's made with clotted cream, was so thick, with just the right amount of sweetness. Dangerously good. Almost 4 stars! I'll be back to try the other menu items and see if it's actually a solid 4, excluding the lamb chops. Also had the other dessert, it was alright..a bit too jello like with too much nutmeg for me.. A few other notes. The dish comes with a very thin bread slice, that complements the food very well. It also comes with a roasted hot pepper and a piece of roasted tomatoes. The yogurt from the squeeze bottle adds lots of flavor. These are things that really make the meal special. And the left overs are equally delicious.

I was craving Mediterranean food and found this place in Astoria. They had great reviews so more of an incentive to check it out. From the outside it looks like it would be small and not enough seating, but stepping inside it's fairly large and they have seating outside as well. I liked how during the winter time it is heated well. This place is very lowkey which is a plus. The service was great too, but they may need more servers to help out. I wanted to try something from the oven but they ran out of everything or stopped using it after a certain time. So, ended up ordering humus which comes with bread (it was really good), the lamb gyro comes with salad with rice (the large portion was fairly large and the smaller one would've been enough) , and last but not least the beef shish kebab that comes with salad and rice (the small portion was ordered and that was just right.) I liked the beef as it was flavored well and it was tender. If you look at your bill at the end remember that they add gratuity and if you have cash there's a discount too.

I came to this restaurant once before and couldn't figure out the name or where it was. But, I remembered how good the lamb was and I recognized the decor today. A lot of places mix lamb with beef (which I don't eat), so I really appreciated that their Lamb Shawarma Platter is just lamb--and it was delicious again. This time, I got the lunch special which came with an appetizer (I chose the hummus with bread) and a soft drink. The portion size was way more than I expected for a lunch special--I actually took more than half of it to go. Definitely a great value. For only 18$. My server was super attentive and really thoughtful. I even ordered another lunch special to go, and when I said I didn't want the soda, he reminded me it was included and told me I might as well take it--such a small thing, but really thoughtful. The place wasn't super busy, but honestly, the food here is pretty great. I'll definitely keep coming back.

    Christina ..

Truva Cafe is amazing! They have my favorite chicken soup of all time, I always feel better after eating it. Also, their falafel is super nice and crunchy, very delicious with the white and red sauces. A few other highlights are their lamb, shepherds salad, and gyro wraps!

There is plenty of parking in the area if you're driving in. There is plenty of seating indoors with a wonderful backyard as well. I liked the ambiance it is very family friendly. they even showed the Arsenal match against Porto in the UCL cup! The food is fantastic i got pide it was my first time and it tasted very healthy as well as the babaganoush. it was okay they gave a lot of bread with it the mixed grill was awesome it has an assortment of meats that was very filling and perfect for 2 people. i over ordered too much food. the service is polite and attentive! 10/10 A+ will go back and you should too!

Ordered: Mix Appetizer Plate (~$23): hummus, babaghanoush, ezme, tabouleh, spinach tarator, and olives Small Mix Adana Kebab (~$18): ground chicken and lamb skewers with salad and rice French Fries (~$8) Aya's take: Dinner at Truva is great for both small and large groups as there are usually tables available for walk-in and service is pretty quick. We started off with the Mix Appetizer Plate. The tabouleh was fresh, light, and properly made. They focused on the main ingredients of tabouleh and didn't use filler ingredients (like bulgur) that other places do. The dips were also great with my favorites being the hummus and babaghanoush. They all went so well with their complimentary, warm, and fresh Turkish bread. The Small Mix Adana Kebab (~$18) is technically not listed on the menu but they were able to give us one skewer of each which I appreciated. The chicken adana and lamb adana had different seasonings and flavor profiles but both were filled with herbs and aromatics, were tender and juicy, and paired well with the white sauce on the side. The rice was fluffy and light and the salad was light and fresh. All in all, pretty solid Turkish spot and still one of the few to do it (and do it well) in Astoria!

The food is absolutely delicious! I had a falafel sandwich and kunefe. The sandwich had fluffy bread with subtle sesame flavor, and the falafel was warm and well-spiced. There were a variety of fresh toppings and sauces to make for a pleasant meal. The fries on the side were also nice and crispy, without being too oily. The kunefe was perfectly crispy on the outside with a delicious slightly sweet cheese filling and syrup. The dessert was satisfying without being too sweet. Both dishes came out to about $33 after tax and tip, which is about average for the amount of food.

I fell in love with the food here! It was my first and definitely not my last. I decided to come here because of the reviews and the lunch special! Bread, soup and entree was perfect! Great portions. The service was okay. I wasn't asked if I needed anything so I thought that was kinda weird. Besides that I will definitely be coming back! I also didn't mind on how tranquil and quiet it was in there. I came around 2pm and there was barely anyone else there and I didn't mind it! I know it can probably get busy in the evening and weekends so I would definitely like to come out in the night and have some dinner. Next time steak kabab!

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.
