    Mixed Grill Plate

Super busy on a Saturday noon. Wish they opened the outdoor seating too. We were all waiting for the limited seats indoors to open up. They're also understaffed. But, the food was delicious. You can also definitely share a mixed grill platter between two people. No need to get the specific mixed grill platter for 2.

Solid 4 for sure! We came in and it smelled amazing. Our surprise bag pick up was after 5PM so I was there after work. The thing I wanted most we didn't get, I love their rice. We got a large wrap with Two sauces ... my favorite is the white so I asked for it. Definitely a whole meal in a wrap. The place was packed when we walked in for pickup. Their menu is massive. I would try it again because I need to taste that rice! And some falafel would be nice too ..

Returned and sat in the back area with my family for lunch. All was just as delicious . Recommend trying the hummus, eggplant and falafel

    Beef Shawarma Arabic Sandwich

The best beef sharawama I ever had. I ordered via Urber eats so my food wasn't as hot, but still really good. The sharawama was so tasty and the beef was tender. Next time I'll try the chicken sharawama.

5 Stars for the food, 1 for the failed delivery/ordering process. Have lived in the neighborhood for years & there's so many places to try, glad to support a business in the Little Egypt area. Mayor-elect Zohran's list of favorite restaurants got me here (his usual order is Lamb Adana Sandwich). My second try ordering was in-person ( - if you haven't visited Astoria's 31st Avenue Open Streets, it's a nice experience in the morning). Went on a Saturday around 2pm and it was busy! The 3-4 tables were full of families & groups (also a larger dining area in an enclosed section in the back) & customers waiting in the front for their orders. 4 ordering kiosks were up front and a counter for cash at the back. I got the $14 Beef Shwarma Sandwich (laffa bread option). It comes with tomato, onion, pickles, tahini & 2 containers of sauce (maybe harissa? and a pink mayo-like one). I was told that the wait is 15-25 minutes (& it's written on their receipts apparently). This is a good time to walk down the block & buy some baklava & Dubai Chocolate from Al-Sham Bakery FYI. I picked up my sandwich under 15-25 minutes later. The sandwich was delicious! Get the laffa bread as the bread option. It's griddled sealed shut around the fillings! The meat was tasty and nicely shaved. Overall the flavors are mild (& not overly salty) but it's the 2 sauces that made everything taste even better. The pickles add a nice tang. There's ($1.50) options to add extra sides into the sandwich. But I couldn't convince them to give me a cup of tabbouleh or rice instead of inside of the sandwich. All of their side's & vegetables look amazing, will try them next time. Ambiance: You're greeted by an enormously long (& very clean) counter filled with bowls of fresh toppings salads, & sauces. Even though the place could be a quick casual gyro-type of spot, the walls were filled with decorations, paintings, ambient lighting, a kind of brown fall theme. The tables in the back looked cozy, and those customers' platters of food were even more beautiful. 5 Stars for Zyara's branding on allll their items: skinny sandwich bags, sticker seal, sauce containers, flat vellum to-go bag - felt like a SoHo/Meatpacking District package of a cozy sandwich. The 1-star delivery ordering: Zyara isn't active on Uber Eats, their Grub Hub menu didn't have the lamb options (originally wanted a Lamb Kofta Platter). Called their number and couldn't tell if it was a call center, their worker sounding like AI, or a call center worker trying to sound like AI/a robot. They were no help in figuring out the names of the lamb platters & mixed up what I said with another item. Also confusion about an add-on for a sandwich or ordering it as a full side (The woman also broke her robotic AI Voice a few times during the call, of is this really sophisticated AI?) After all that, I couldn't place the delivery for later in the evening. 2nd Try: Did call back later in the day & tried again. The person also doesn't ask for your address only "You'll received a text with a link to pay, and then we can send the order to the kitchen." I offered my building & delivery information twice & hung up to pay the link. Finally! - but the link was broken. :( It was send automatically again but still didn't lead me to any page. I guess just go into order or dine-in. The Laffa bread stays fresher that way anyway. Maybe they're busy enough that they don't need to do delivery - or do it well.

Yes. Yes. Always yes to this spot. It's always packed, understandably! Every bite tastes delicious and it is always a family favorite when we are in Astoria! The flavors are unbeatable and the service is on point, highly recommend.

I came here because of Mamdani! I saw a video of him raving about this place, so I had to try it for myself! I've only done takeout from here and they do deliver to Jackson Heights, which is nice. I ordered a few things from here which I really liked. Chicken shawarma: I also tried it with the special bread instead of the usual pita. Came with lots of chicken . 10 out of 10. Eggplant: 8 out of 10. I think it's a great dip and goes well with pita. The price point isn't bad either. Thanks Zohran for recommending this place!

Really enjoyed the food here. The flavors were fresh, and the portions were just right. I just wish the meat was seasoned a little more. The atmosphere felt lively but not too loud, which made it a nice spot for dinner with friends or family. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out in good time. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving Mediterranean

Chicken Kebab Plate with Jerusalem salad and Hummus
    Karen O.

Came here for a quick bite later in the evening. The place was packed but the servers were attentive and kind. The shawarma was finished so I ordered the chicken kebab platter with Jerusalem salad and hummus. The chicken was flavorful and fresh off the grill. The salad wasn't my favorite. The vegetables were a little mushy and waterlogged for my liking. The hummus was delicious. They weren't able to offer water because they ran out and the bathroom was far from clean. I wouldn't give up on Zyara just yet, but maybe I would try earlier in the day to see if the overall experience is better.

    Spilled drinks. Not covered.

I ordered lunch from here, with two drinks for delivery. Previous times I had my orders randomly cancelled, so was hoping this third time it would go through. The drinks came without the lids covered therefore spilled completely. This is actually a huge food hazard, the lids are supposed to be covered so it doesn't get tampered with. The uber eats driver was stressed out and let me know he had asked them to properly cover it before he accepted it and they refused to. So when it came to me it was completely spilled all over. I called the restaurant and let them know what just happened with my order and was immediately hung up on. I called again asking why they hung up and they said the "call dropped". I asked for further information for a supervisor/ management to discuss the three poor times I was serviced by this restaurant, only to be yelled at by the person on the phone saying "you're talking too much", said he will not give me his name or anyone else's, and then hung up again. Guess the call kept dropping? I'm not naive. I had the entire interaction recorded and will be posting on social media. Super unprofessional, yelling at their top of their lungs, and very rude. DO NOT order from them.

We got adana Kebab which was delicious, would highly recommend it. Next we got a lamb shwarma which was also good. Place was full and alive. There is good seating inside staff was nice, it was a while untill we got our order but in the meantime they served us some fried chips with a dip which was yummy! Will definitely drop by again to try out ither stuff on their menu!! Yummy

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.

Simply outstanding -- friendly, helpful...just puts you at ease. The food is pretty good too. The kufta kebab was delicious, the accompanying salad was as well -- if I had any nitpick it was that I didn't necessarily love their house sauce and the combo of pita bread + french fries is perhaps a bit too many carbs for my liking. Besides that, this is a great neighborhood gem.

We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and Mix Grill entrees for our party of 7. I would say it's a pretty simple and standard order. No deviations, substitutions, or anything out of the ordinary. Despite that, our drinks took ~20 minutes, the appetizers took 30+ minutes, and our entrees 30+ minutes after that. The Mint Lemonade was so small and tasted artificial. For ~$9, I expect more. The only appetizers worth trying are the Hummus Baba Ganouj, and Falafel. Everything else sadly missed the mark. The Fatoush & Tabouleh were promising but pretty sad. It lacked dressing (lemon and olive oil), flavor, and there were way too many unnecessary lettuce leaves on or around the bowl. I did enjoy the Zikrayat Mix Grill. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and juicy, the rice was light and fragrant, and it was filling. I found the appetizers to be overpriced and along with the extremely slow service, I didn't leave feeling like it was worth it. I don't think I'll be back.

It's a little overwhelming because there is definitely a lot of seafood to choose from. The fish selection looks fresh but they do have some previously frozen seafood like large prawns and lobster tails. They have the names of everything and the price per pound posted which can be a little intimidating because it's a bit expensive. We ordered a grilled branzino and asked for the large tiger shrimp. The staff behind the counter said it would be the ones without the head but when long at the sign, it said head on tiger shrimp so I was a little confused but we just went with it because we assumed the staff knew what they were talking about. We did also get the head-on large prawns. We asked for everything to be grilled and confirmed that they don't use butter or cheese or cream on anything and then we went upstairs to get a table. Upstairs by the window is nice because you can people watch on a good day. We asked the staff member if there were any butter or cream or cheese in the mezza or rice and she said no, so we proceeded to order those and also asked about the soup of the day. She told us it was a shrimp and corn soup and that sounded good so we ordered that as well. The mezza came and the babaganoush and moussaka were good. The lemon potatos were fine but other places have made it better. The tahini was tahini and nothing special. The soup came and we took a sip and it tasted like cream so we were confused because the staff member didn't mention cream when she was taking about it. We asked about it when another staff member came by to drop off the rice. The original staff member who helped us came back over and we asked her if there was cream in the soup. She told us that yes because it's a chowder and the chowder has dairy and told us that we ordered the soup. I'm not denying that we ordered it. My issue is that we specifically asked about avoiding dairy in other food menu items and she didn't even stop to mention that hey the soup of the day that you want is a shrimp and corn chowder and has dairy. She took it back but I felt like we were inconveniencing her because of her tone. The mains arrived shortly after. The head-on prawns came and then the branzino. The large head-on prawns were overcooked and a little rubbery. The branzino was a touch too lemony but that was probably my fault for squeezing lemon over it. The fish was firm and smooth. There wasn't a lot of flavor on either dish. By this time, our table is pretty full and one of the staff members came by with the tiger shrimp and he more or less just stared at the full table and then plopped the plate down right next to my husband's phone. We barely even had time to move plates around to clean up space for him, but I feel like they should have definitely looked a little harder because one of our plates was just full of bones and shells and could have been taken away which would have made room for the shrimp. They were also over cooked and rubbery. Throughout our meal, no one came to check on us once. At the end of the meal, I used my own hand sanitizing wipes and was a little puzzled that they don't give any to customers. We got the bill and were a little peeved that they charged us $3 to butterfly the branzino. We weren't told about that and we didn't particularly ask for them to butterfly it. There's individual hand wipes by the stairs and it's odd that staff don't bring them to you once you're ready to pay. Are customers expected to walk around with dirty hands to go grab the wipe by the stairs? It's definitely a one time experience and overall, I wouldn't recommend it for the poor service and seafood being overcooked and underwhelming.

Right when we got seated, the manager brought us freshly prepared, piping hot pieces of Falafel. Very good and well prepared. Very nice of him. Then So I ordered myself their chicken shawarma. The chicken was a little dry but it was still flavorful and delicious. A little hint of Sumac. What I would recommend is management to take a little more precautions on their customers. We ordered their famous Mixed Feteer, which is basically like their house pizza. And it took about 20 minutes to make and I totally understand that it gets a little busy but we have to prioritize the first customers all the way to last. But I would love to give my love and appreciation to management for serving a complimentary plate of their house sweets. It was heaven! We had their Kunefa and chocolate baklava. My friend ordered the watermelon salad for lunch which looked absolutely delicious as you can see in the pictures- the perfect dish for a hot summer day. I ordered the mixed platter that came with a salad, rice, different kinds of meats. I loved that I got to try a variety- I honestly couldn't pick a favorite because I enjoyed all of it. My dish was so big that I even had leftovers for dinner and lunch the next day. If you're looking for somewhere to eat in Astoria I definitely recommend this restaurant! My only complaint is that it was hot inside the restaurant. Not sure if their HVAC wasn't working that day but the warmth was not pleasant on a summer hot day.
