Went in for a first appointment today. The whole team was fantastic. From the initial greeting with Monica and Lisa to the computer paperwork which was explained in detail by Lisa. The wait on less than a couple of minutes. Sy took me in and ran me through a few eye test and explained everything all along the way. They use all the latest equipment and guess what? No eye dilation was needed. What a great deal that I did not need a ride home. Dr Bui greeted me after the initial tested was done and did one final test. How many ways can you say thank you to someone that has given you your vision back? Dr. Marie Bui is a Rock Star when it comes to Ophthalmologist in the Central Texas area. My journey for the right doctor, to remove cataracts from my eyes, started over two years ago. I made appointments with three other Ophthalmologist who either wanted to rush me into making a decision without educating me on my options or recommended certain types of lenses that I knew I would not make me happy because I would still have to wear glasses. Needless to say I was frustrated and my vision was getting worse. I read some reviews on Dr. Bui and her staff and decided to make an appointment. The difference in how I was treated from my first appointment was so refreshing. The clinic uses state of the art equipment to examine your eyes and get the best prescription for your lenses. Dr. Bui goes over the different lenses and how much each will cost. She explained what range of vision you will be able to see. She showed me a picture of the eye and how they remove the cataract. I told her I wanted to get multifocal lenses and she gave me her recommendation for the brand of lenses (IOL's) with the best outcome for me. I felt I could trust her because she answered all my questions and let me decide what lenses I wanted that would work best with my eyes. I chose the Pan Optix Toric multifocal lens so I could see great at distance and up close for reading. Her wonderful receptionist set the date for my surgery and I left Dr. Bui's office feeling confident that I finally found the right Ophthalmologist for me. Now, I have to share another twist to my story. One week before my surgery, Alcon Pan Optix came out with a new, improved lens called the Pan Optix Pro that had less halo's and glare. I immediately called Dr. Bui's office and ask if I could get the new Pan Optix Pro. I was so nervous, but within a couple of hours I got a call back saying they could order the new lenses and I would just have to cancel my surgery until the lenses arrived which took about a month. The surgery went very well in both eyes. Dr. Bui checks your eye the next day after surgery. Again, she answered all my questions and went over instructions to use the eye drops. I can now see 20/20 out of each eye and my vision is amazing! Everything is clear and the colors are vivid. I cannot ever remember seeing this good and I don't need glasses or contacts! Don't waste time trying to decide which Ophthalmologist to choose! Dr. Bui and her staff are the best and I highly recommend her to anyone needing eye surgery. read more

I had, hands down, the best experience with Dr. Bui and her team at Truvision!! I came in for Lasik because I suffer from allergies and my astigmatism makes wearing contacts very difficult. I went to an optometrist and was told that I might need to have cataract surgery on my right eye and he recommended that I see Dr. Maria Bui. I scheduled my appointment with Dr. Bui and found her and TruVision staff (Christy) to be professional, courteous, and respectful. During my consultation, they found that I also have cataract in my left eye. Realizing how quickly my vision was degrading, I was thinking to have cataract surgery performed on both eyes. After discussing my expectation, Dr Bui recommended that the multifocal lens (PanOptix) would be my best choices. We schedule surgery for both eyes several weeks out. I learned that my medical insurance would not cover the surgeries because of my high deductible. I was unhappy to hear this news and considered going with monofocal lens or deciding if I should do surgery on one eye only. I spoke to many friends and people that had cataract surgery to help make my decision. I was surprise that it was a split and didn't help in my decision. I called Dr. Bui with my concerns and her calmness and confidence reassured me that my decision with the multifocal lens were right for me and I would be happy with it. I knows this sound cliché, but I genuinely felt a sincereness that she wanted me to have the best vision I could get. She laid it out for me that given my health, condition, and past history of my eyes, the multifocal will meet my expectation. Lens replacement is expensive, but what price do you place for having quality vision? For me, I already felt how cataract was affecting my quality of life. My surgery on my right eye went smoothly and painless; within 48 hours I was able to see clearly at all distances. My second surgery on my left eye didn't go as smoothly. I felt some scratchiness when I blink my eyes but that went away after several hours. I also felt a lot of pressure that was very painful and didn't appear to go away. It got worse as each hour pass, so I called Dr Bui and she asked me to meet her at the office. I had my son drive me to her office. When I got there, she releases the pressure with a tool and apply eye drops to my left eye. I thought I would have to endure the pain all night, but I am so thankful that Dr. Bui was able to treat me that evening. The next day after surgery, I can almost see as clearly as my right eye. What I want to say about lens replacement is that I am ecstatic and I should of done it early when I first detected cataract. My vision is the best that it has ever been. I am able to read fine print as close as 6" from my face (seriously). At nights, I do see starbursts and sometime halos around lights but they are no worse than my glasses. This is my opinion and take it with a grain of salt, but my research on why some people have good result or bad result is directly related on the doctor you choose. I very grateful to Dr. Bui for her consultation, calmness, and confidence in my quest for the perfect vision. I give Dr. Bui all the credit for my decision to have surgery on both eyes and lens choice by consulting and reassuring me that I will be happy and I will not regret the choice.
