This was so fun! The guy that took us out took lots of video and photos, he also kept bringing us sea creatures to touch or showed us where to find some. Absolutely worth it and would recommend this highly to anyone who wants to try out the scuba experience without going right into the ocean.

Try Scuba Diving also has a beginners course in snorkeling! Our instructor Nick was SUPER knowledgeable and patient with our family. Even with two members of our group having a "healthy respect" for the water, he made the experience feel comfortable and safe. The entire group spent the evening talking about how the class exceeded their expectations. Thanks for being a part of and helping make our trip to Hawaii Nick!

Beginner-friendly! Anyone is welcome! A few key notes: The company advises you to store your belongings at your own risk, for liability reasons. They provide two large containers to lock up any valuables. You can wear pretty much any clothing you want. The tanks are around 50 pounds and are carried like backpacks. All the weight is lifted once you're in the water. (The tanks essentially act as large life vests.) I went with my wife and my parents. My wife and father were fine, but my mother struggled to carry the tank and use the equipment. Scott, Kyle, and Alex were all patient and focused on ensuring everyone felt safe and confident with the equipment. They had a dive dinghy that they asked people to hold onto (for safety, so you don't wander off or run into issues). My mother struggled with listening, so I kept reminding her to hold on. The instructors also asked her respectfully. To sum it up, thank you for being professional and respectful with clients who may need a bit more assistance.

    Wonderful first time snorkeling experience!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Mike, and Micki are very cool, friendly, and knowledgeable. We felt safe, and in good hands on our first time snorkeling adventure. Definitely will return to advance to scuba! Thank you guys!

SCUBA DIVING: Today was a perfect day for scuba diving. We found scuba diving on yelp and we immediately called them and Alberto was able to confirm a 2pm appt. My daughters were super excited to do their beginner dive in Honolulu. We paid over the phone and immediately got an email confirmation with online waivers and directions. They do the dives at Magic Island Lagoon and this is a beautiful area island and lagoon where we witnessed at least 4 wedding ceremonies. It has a beautiful view of the Honolulu skyline and also had palm trees for days. Zola did a great job teaching the girls how to scuba dive. They came back super excited and saw some beautiful marine life. They want to do this again and I highly recommend Try Scuba Dive in Honolulu!

Dan was fantastic from start to finish, making everyone feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. One thing we especially appreciated was the small group size. It created a much more personal experience, allowed for individual attention, and made all of us feel relaxed. Dan did a great job balancing safety and fun, and he was wonderful with our teenagers. What we got instead was poor dive management and a complete lack of professionalism. During the dive, I ran out of air, which is a serious and dangerous situation in scuba diving. The response from the guide was dismissive and poorly handled, which only made the situation worse. The most frustrating part of the entire experience was dealing with Gabe, the owner. He had absolutely no patience and was openly unprofessional, not just with us but in the way he interacted with others as well. There was no concern for how unsafe the situation was, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. For an activity where safety, trust, and professionalism are critical, this operation fell short on every level. We paid nearly $700 and walked away feeling stressed, unsafe, and completely disappointed. I would strongly caution newer or less experienced divers before booking here. This is not the kind of environment where you feel supported or safe.

I'm the girl who wants to go snorkeling even though she gets sea sickness and can't really swim…read morebecause I love animals and I want to experience snorkeling with turtles and fish at least once in my life. We did the turtle tour on 5/13 at 8:30 in the morning. They teach everyone how to use the given gear, they antifog the goggles beforehand and sanitize all the gear well afterwards. They have snacks, water, and ginger ale. We saw two turtles within a couple arms lengths at the surface (you can't touch them but gosh they were so close!). We also saw about seven turtles chilling on the bottom. Tons of reef fish swimming so close to us too. The crew makes sure to point out turtles so you don't miss them. It was my first time in open water and the crew was welcoming from the start. They separate the groups so if you can't swim or are not great at swimming, you can stay back and hold onto a blue mat in the water where they teach you and help you feel comfortable in open water first. Even though I vomited afterwards (yes I took plenty of motion sickness medication ahead of time!), I highly recommend the experience. It's unlike anything else. The crew is so funny, they normalized not being able to swim well or motion sickness so you don't feel embarrassed. They get in the water with you (not all crews do!) and were super attentive, and encouraging. I felt safe enough that I was able to learn, get confident in the water and join the others and I still felt like I had plenty of great snorkeling time. Overall, GREAT company for actually seeing turtles! GREAT for inexperienced swimmers and people who get motion/sea sickness! If you're determined, you can still do it. The crew made me feel safe the entire time! You've got this, you only live once!

I didn't even get off the boat and my son already asked me "can we come back to this same boat again next time!" From the gate B, which is your entrance, make sure you read your additional info after your confirmation email, especially if you are taking a Uber or Lyft, or else you can get dropped off at the main area and have to walk and find gate B! It's a long walk if you do not specify, our u er drive was the one that asked me, what gate sir, or else you have a long walk. Thank god he asked us! So from the gate to the entire experience, it can be overwhelming, it's a lot to do, it's a ton of fun. I rated 4/5 for the snorkeling because it's open ocean vs doing this inside a "bay" You first get a cruise down the waters and learn about the city and the captain t Story tells you a lot of history and the buildings while we are cruising and then we turn around to the play and snorkeling areas! Wow! But knowing my kids they want to also PLAY! Thais is the boat, you have a water trampoline, a water floating board that you legit can lay on or stand on and play balance and or just lay, and a huge slide!!!!! Wow! And drink and snacks are included! We didn't even get a chance to grab a beer! lol (for additional $ on your own) Just look at the view and the photos. So this entire experience is just 5/5 We booked through TripAdvisor. This is 100% recommend, since this is also at open ocean, it's easier if you can swim and not afraid of the waters. They do offer life jackets and self blown floatation vests, your choice. Must do!!!!! See you next time!

Whereas other shops wanted to charge me for a full on course, Captain Maddie set me up with her dive-master sister, Ashley. We saw so many turtles, eels, a shark and several octopuses (Ashley has an incredible eye for spotting them). I had such a great time I booked another dive. This time, noting my comfort level, Ashley took me on two deeper wreck dives. They were spectacular. I'm so grateful I found Ruckus, Maddie and Ashley. I hardly write reviews but their considerate and meticulous service made for an unforgettable experience. Many companies offer discover scuba lessons in Oahu so I called a few to understand the itinerary before making a decision. I spoke with Toby, he welcomed all questions and gave an honest glimpse of what the experience would be. He was also courteous enough to let me know that they might reschedule our reservation in case they don't have enough people to meet a minimum for the boat. This did happen but the company let me know this promptly well in advance and even followed up to remind me about completing e-learnings etc. Fast forward to the day of the scuba and my mother & I met with Toby and the captain on Diamond T II, their boat along ala moana. The captain did a quick lay down of the safety instructions and Toby walked us through the nuts and bolts of diving - key skills, sign language, etc. The crew split us into parties of two each. The sea was a little choppy and I was feeling a little sea sick so I asked the cap if I go jump in the water till the first pair finished their training and dive and he even gave me snorkeling gear!! This was a great way to kill time and also get a preview of the dive ahead. The cap also encouraged my mother to join me and despite her fear of water, she felt at ease in doing so. This half an hour was unexpectedly enjoyable as we were able to interact with some marine life and my mother felt more comfortable being in water. We then got into our gear, which was labeled, super clean and hygienic, and proceeded to do our training session with Toby in the water. This was the highlight of our experience as jumping in a water can be pretty daunting with heavy gear, especially if you run into tricky problems like water in the mask or your regulator. Despite my mother running into these frequently, Toby was incredibly patient and relentlessly made an effort to do her skill training without rushing her. Unfortunately, she was feeling pretty sea sick and also tired by her time in the water so she decided to pause but Toby and I carried on into the water. We spent a serious amount of time close to the ocean bed, Toby was alert yet let me free roam in the water so I gained some confidence too. I was surprised by how clear the water was and we saw plenty of fish, it was magical. On returning, I found out that my mother got sick on the boat so the cap helped her with a pair of goggles, some jelly, and light humor to alleviate her motion sickness. The crew was highly aware of most passengers feeling sick so they expedited our return to the waterfront. I fail to see how this experience could've been more enjoyable and how this crew could've been more considerate to first time divers. Thank you so much for this!!

Many other schools of interesting fish to swim with, as well. The gear was pretty new, though less sophisticated than I am used to. We took the video package, but the very cloudy/rainy skies washed out a lot of the vids a little bit. :-( The spot they took us to was, of course, popular, so I would pick your times to try to reduce crowding.
