It felt very disorganized, & the lines were extremely long which made everything feel slow & a bit stressful. I also needed an accommodation & ended up waiting quite a while b4 getting assistance. Part of the delay came from not being told at the check-in counter that I needed to show my boarding pass @ the accommodation station. I was told someone would be w/ me shortly & to sit by the accommodation area, so I waited (but it ended up taking longer than expected). Eventually, I realized what was going on & went up to the accommodation station myself. When I got there, the employee acted as if I was supposed to already know I needed to present my boarding pass, which added to the frustration in the moment. The long waits & lack of clear instructions made things more difficult than it needed to be. However, when I got to the JetBlue gate the employees there were way nicer & helpful. They seemed to have it together. So it's a mixed experience.

I didn't notice any staff members in the area, but once we found the correct baggage carousel, our luggage started arriving fairly quickly and we were able to collect our suitcases without much delay. After exiting the terminal, we requested an Uber, and our driver arrived within just a few minutes. We were picked up right outside the terminal and didn't need to walk to specific ride-share areas.

You'll find three airlines here: Air Flamenco, Vieques Airlink, and Tax Aéreo. Carlos Jeep Rentals also has a booth here. I'm not sure when, but they put in new chairs that are more comfortable than the ones they used to have. Airport is clean and laid back. Staff is cool. Snack and beverage vending machines are the food options. Although, the airport is near Distrito T-Mobile and Gran Bahía Restaurant. Paid parking (I posted a pic with the rates). You can also take a cab or Uber to and from here. I really like flying to Culebra from here. It's in San Juan which makes it much more convenient than driving to Ceiba for the ferry or airport. That said, flying from here is more expensive. But I find it worth it because of the convenience. When we can fit it in our budget we prefer it. The trip takes about 30 minutes, maybe a bit more. The best part is the view. You get a great view of Old San Juan and Condado upon takeoff and landing. Plus the view of the northeast coast. Awesome.

San Juan Luis Munoz Marin Airport is the HUGE airport we all use to arrive on Puerto Rico, but if…read moreyou need to fly to some more remote destinations, you should bypass the SJU and go to Aueropuerto Isla Grande. To get to the island of Vieques, one has several options, and here they are: 1) Drive (or take cab) an hour to Fajardo and take a ferry 2) Drive/cab to fajardo and fly 3) Fly out of SJU 4) Fly out of Aueropuerto Isla Grande Options 1&2 require a long drive. I've heard the ferry can be very intermittent, and if you're going to fly, why not fly out of San Juan. Flying out of SJU is more pricey. This leaves Isla Grande. Yes, this airport is super small, but this is what makes it cool, unique, and more cost efficient. Yeah, you will step onto a plane, it is going to be a tiny plane where you can basically look over the shoulder of your pilot (I guess if you needed to, you could help him fly by taking the co-pilot's seat. Boarding is trouble-free and takes no time at all. The airport is also fairly close to Old San Juan, and a short cab ride. Overall this is the only real option for getting to Vieques or Culebra.
