When I saw that Tea Ninja closed, I felt upset about it. I loved drinking their Thai milk tea with the classic boba. The question became where could I find an amazing boba place? I found out Tsaocaa replaced Tea Ninja. I ordered the Thai Milk Tea with the Amber boba. It tasted decent. I found the milk having a heavier taste. It covered the Thai Tea flavor. The amber boba tasted just like the regular boba. Joseph ordered the Muscat a grape Green tea with lime. He said it tasted fine. We picked up for our orders at the end of the counter. When asked a question, one of the servers quickly responded. An added plus! I liked the atmosphere at Tsaocaa. It felt relaxed and light. I did not feel rushed - another added plus. I like Tsaocaa. The insides are quaint and you'll find all the standard flavors like jasmine and taro. They use a non dairy creamer, so if you have problems it's nice to have an option. Relatively new chain on Broadway. They had a soft opening a few weeks back but they already updated their interior and held a grand opening with a BOGO drink special. The drinks I've had were all great and many dietary options. I haven't had their food quite yet, but I was a couple feasting on a couple of dishes and they looked great. Very disgusted with the jasmine milk green tea with boba I ordered. The tea had that super bitter over-roasted flavor and the boba was way too soft. A waste of money and time. So bad I threw it away after a few sips. You order at one of the online kiosk stands (there are multiple, just look around to avoid lining up unnecessarily), and the inside is very cute and bright. They also had some bao bing (but korean I think) dishes, desserts, and korean food items on the menu. Hopefully those are better than the boba milk tea. read more

This place is a great option if you want to have a boba iced tea! This tea store has a wide selection of teas - from milk teas to fruit teas and tea slushes. They also offer multiple desserts on the menu. I have visited this place three times, and my absolute favorite drink is the Watermelon Green Tea Slush with Peach Boba (I had it twice) or Honey Aloe (tried it once). I ordered this drink for the first time as an experiment, and I absolutely loved it. Now, I am a big fan of this drink and will keep ordering it over and over. Once, I brought my friend to this tea store, and he decided to order Peach Black Tea with Peach Boba. He loved his drink a lot. I tried a little bit of it and liked it too. Also, once I decided to order the Earl Grey Crepe Cake, and I liked its taste a lot! The only issue was that it was completely frozen, so I couldn't eat it right away. I waited for about 10 minutes, letting it thaw slightly, but it didn't soften even a little bit. So, I went to the staff and asked them to put the cake into a microwave to thaw it, which they did for about 2 minutes, but the crepe cake still didn't thaw well. I believe that this crepe cake is more of a take-away option, to eat later after letting it thaw. The prices on the menu are very reasonable. For example, the Watermelon Green Tea Slush with Boba costs $6.90, and the Crepe Cake costs $5. The tea store's location is great. It is on Broadway Street in the heart of Boystown, Chicago. It's also close to the Lake Michigan waterfront, perfect for grabbing a cold drink while enjoying some activities in the park near the lake. The tea store is remodeled and ideally clean. I like its cute design a lot, especially the wall decorated with toys. I like that you can place an order through a machine (there are three of them), which helps avoid long lines. You can also make an online order and just pick it up. The staff who works in the tea store is very hardworking, as they start preparing orders right away as soon as they receive them. I also appreciate that multiple people work there at the same time. However, I wish these employees were more friendly, as they don't seem eager to engage in extra conversation or even offer a smile. Plus, not all of them speak English. For example, when I had the issue with my frozen cake, one guy had to translate for another guy to understand my request. I absolutely recommend checking this place out if you are looking for an iced tea. read more

I'm a huge fan of Tsaocaa Chinatown and Lincoln park! So when I saw that there's another location in Chicago, I had to show my support! I always do a rotation of fruit tea or jasmine green milk tea. Today, I ordered my standard jasmine green milk tea and bubble waffle. My friend ordered the iced muscat grape green tea and pork sung bubble waffle. The taste is similar to all the other locations! I did have an issue with the flavor of my milk tea but they corrected it when I mention it to the staff member. So they're very attentive to the customers request! The inside is very bright and cute. One of our favorite boba spots in town! The tea is brewed so well and the drinks are delicious. My favorites are the king oolong and the lychee jasmine milk tea. I like my drinks less sweet so I get them with 0% sugar. My husband loves the cloud mist with cheese foam. The fries and wings are also delicious and the perfect complementary snacks to their drinks. I've been wanting to try Tscaocaa forever and I finally got the chance to yesterday. I ordered the ruby black milk tea and it was amazing. Not too expensive and a big drink size as well. The inside of the store itself was adorable, they have an entire plushie wall and plenty of seating. The employees were kind and friendly but my only complaint was my chicken sandwich was still raw. The inside was very pink/undercooked and I was only able to eat the bun. It would've been good if they had cooked it a few extra minutes because I know frying chicken thighs can be difficult. read more

Everything here looks good and tbf a lot of of their drinks and desserts are probably ok if its already prepared but I would not get a drink with boba again. New bubble tea place in the old Tea Ninja space. A little confusing inside when using the machine to order but there were some paper menus that helped described the drinks better and which ones were caffeinated and not. You can dial in the sugar which is nice. But in some places if you get no added sugar there is a baseline of sugar. Not here. We got a milk tea and it could have actually used some sugar. So heads up on not getting "extra sugar". Overall excited to have the place. We'll definitely be back. read more

The girl in the front was so rude! When I asked if she could remake my drink or change it for another one she refused and made me pay for a second. She said she could not. The drink was tasteless, it was mostly milk and watered down. I will never come here again. Professionalism 1/10, drinks 1/10 would not recommend.
