We live in the Dallas are and go ski in New Mexico. When we pass through Amarillo, this is our MUST STOP place to eat. We have gone every year since we got lucky and found this place. It looks odd from the outside but the food is THE BEST. We have never been disappointed, no matter what we order. We love this place.

Hole in wall w/ great food. Work did take out order from this restaurant. Tried to go back over to get some shrimp spring rolls, but they were closed for holiday weekend. You must try for yourself. I've since tried their ginger chicken & chicken fried rice. All very good. My peer had beef fried rice.

Kabuki's hibachi-style steakhouse without the Kabuki price. Most everyone has been to Kabuki. You sit at a big table with strangers and watch a chef cook your choice of meat and fry it up with mixed vegetables and fried rice. Tsunami takes out the chef, the pizazz, and the price. This restaurant used to be a Toot-n-Totum gas station and it hasn't really spruced it up much since. They don't even have an actual sign. It's just a burgundy banner that's tacked up over the front windows. I missed it the first time because it looked nothing like a restaurant. The interior is as basic as could be. Tables and chairs - that's it. I ordered the Shrimp dinner ($10), which is fried rice, shrimp and vegetables. There's plenty of rice and shrimp but the vegetables are CRAP. At most teppan grill restaurants, you get stir-fried zucchini and mushrooms. Not here. Grilled broccoli and carrots - ew. They might as well have been just for decor. Still, at ten dollars, this meal is a decent value. Let's get down to the bottom line: Is the food better than Kabuki? No. It's about the same. Are the portions bigger or smaller than Kabuki? Smaller, but only because they don't have the mixed stir-fried vegetables. Is the price cheaper than Kabuki? Yes, it's at least 35% cheaper. Is it as much fun? Sadly, no. If you don't mind missing out on the chef, the show, the onion volcano, the fancy decor and the vegetables - then Tsunami is a good alternative to more expensive teppan restaurants like Kabuki. Pros: good food, good portions, good prices Cons: it's in an unmarked, old gas station; vegetables are a joke; no onion volcanos.

Best Chicken panang in Amarillo. Red and yellow bell pepper, carrots, onions, sweet basil in coconut milk. Fried rice is amazing. And make sure to try summer rolls. We will definitely be back!!

We think this place is really good. So much better than Kabuki and Sakura Teppan meals and half the price. You get miso or egg drop soup with your meal. The egg rolls are home made and wonderful. Portions are large and filling. The place is clean. It is located inside an old Toot'n Totum.

I always get the Rock & Roll roll and it's seriously my favorite. It's so fresh and flavorful every single time--I literally crave it. You can tell they're consistent with their quality, which I love. Service is always quick, and everything just runs smoothly every time I go. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Amarillo. If you haven't tried the Rock & Roll roll yet, you're missing out!!

Decor is more Thai than Japan, nothing memorable. Service? Also fine & courteous - you'll get what you need, just not much extra. The menu moment: Lots of varieties of Thai dishes and Japanese rolls. What I tried: Pad Kee Mao (#58) -- Stir-fried udon with a full house of meats, shrimp, and veggies. Spicy, saucy, and hits the spot if you're craving pan-fried noodles. Solid portion for $14.95 -- and the one thing I'd come back for. Crispy Tofu (#5) -- Tried it for the first time... and probably the last. Didn't quite land for me. $8.95. The takeaway: Nothing really stands out here, but it gets the job done if you're in the mood for Thai-style noodles. The know before you go: No dessert. Translation: no mango sticky rice. Tragic. Next on deck: Ceviche Salad (#89) -- because curiosity wins. The bottom line: Worth it if you're nearby and want a quick noodle fix. Just keep expectations in check (and maybe skip the tofu).

**Terrible Experience -- Avoid This Place**…read more If I could give this place negative stars, I would. We went to this sad excuse for a restaurant last night, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Our party of five adults (plus a young child) waited nearly two hours and never even received food for most of our group. Two of the adults were served, but the rest of us were completely forgotten. After more than an hour of waiting, we finally asked what was going on--only to find out they had*never entered the rest of our order at all. At first, they told us our food was "just a little behind" and on its way, but that turned out not to be true. Then they even tried to serve us another table's order--who had just arrived--so that's when we realized our order had never been placed, or had been given to another party. After we complained several times and had to flag down multiple people for help because our server had disappeared, we finally got them to put in our order. When they did finally start bringing food, they brought the dishes out one at a time, with more than 30 minutes between each. By that point, four of the six people in our group (including the child) had already left. I asked for my food to be packed to go because everyone else had already left, but they put the meat, vegetables, rice, and noodles all together in one box, turning it into a watery, soupy mess that was completely inedible. Both entrees we were served had to be thrown away. Even after explaining everything that had happened, our waitress disappeared for another 20 minutes. We had to flag down three different servers just to get our bill--for a meal we never got to enjoy. In the end, we were **extorted for over $70** for an experience that was beyond unacceptable. Whatever you do, **DO NOT VIST TOKYO STEAKHOUSE in AMARILLO TX.** You'll wait for hours, get little to no service, and walk away frustrated, hungry, completely ripped off, without an explanation or apology. This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've ever had. We waited hours only to have our pockets picked by these people. In the end, we went home, and still had to make our dinner. Don't waste your time on these clowns.
