Headed home from a basketball tournament, our large family was starving and the kids were set on sushi. We did a quick search and found this spot in Moses Lake. I'll be honest, we were a little skeptical at first, but decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away, which was a great start after a long day. The kids ordered California rolls, and my husband and I tried the scallop roll and the dragon roll, and wow. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and way beyond what we expected. I definitely didn't think I'd find sushi this good in downtown Moses Lake, but I was happily proven wrong. This has now become a tradition for us we've come here two years in a row after tournaments, and we plan to keep it going every year. read more

The food tasted just fine. The service wasn't that great. You had to get yourself silverware, and they just brought out a tray of sushi. No soy sauce dish no silverware just a plate. They also don't have a beverage machine so only had bottled water. For the price it wasn't worth it. Nothing came out at the same time and they forgot about my husband's meal. Great Experience @ Tsunami Sushi in Moses Lake, WA. !! First time patrons to this local Sushi Restaurant on a Monday for an early dinner. Service was attentive and no-nonsense. Many employees were on hand and busy cooking, cleaning, and filling several to-go orders. The restaurant itself had curb appeal and was very clean with minimal decor. We had all the necessary utensils and condiments. Food was absolutely delicious, as seen in pictures. Sushi was flavorful and made well. I couldn't decide what I wanted and asked if a Bento Box was available even though it was not on the menu. Our server accommodated my request and said he would make it happen. I was very pleased with what he brought! The chicken and steak were tender, great side of veggies, the panko fish was fresh with a great crunch, tasty gyoza and California roll. Yum! We came across this small restaurant during our trip this past weekend to Moses Lake. I was intrigued to find a Japanese sushi restaurant in a town as small as Moses Lake. Our expectations were not high, all things considered, and I can say that the food basically matched our expectations. We got a crunchy shrimp roll to share as an appetizer, which was pretty good. The sushi roll was big and the ingredients were fresh enough. The Chicken Katsu and Chicken Yakisoba were average and not very impressive. The Chicken Katsu cutlet was dry and came with this weird white sauce (Tartar sauce?) instead of the usual Katsu sauce. The only thing that stood out about this meal was the price, the Chicken Katsu was $17 and the Chicken Yakisoba was $15. The price to food quality ratio was not good, and I ended up regretting spending nearly $50 for such a basic and average meal. Food is generally cheaper on the Eastern side of Washington state, which is why this restaurant caught me off guard. Overall, the food was generally uneventful but the prices were high. We will definitely be skipping over this restaurant if we are ever in town again. read more

Although the wait staff was nice, the quality of the food was pretty bad. I ordered the Sushi Dinner and although all of the pieces looked good, I soon found out looks can be deceiving. All of the different kinds of sushi basically had no flavor. The all tasted the same. This usually happens when the fish has been frozen and thawed too many times. Also the pieces were not very cold either. The Edamame was over cooked and was topped with waaay too much salt. A big disappointment indeed. read more

Decent sushi but nothing to write home about. The Shrimp Tempura was below average and the Tentsuyu sauce was something else. More like a sweet soy but not quite teriyaki. We were passing by and need to grab something to eat. We gave this place a try. The sushi here are pretty decent. We tried four different rolls and they are not too bad. I have eaten a lot of sushi, so I can do a good retaliation and have high expectations.This place does not rank at the top of my list but definitely close to the top. The waiter was difficult to understand but very nice. The restroom was clean and smelled good. The downside was their floor was very sticky and poor ventilation so we smelled like we were in the kitchen after we left there. read more

Sushi, noodle dishes and fried rice is good. Soup is ok but they forget a lot of veggies it's supposed to have. If a dish comes with soup and seaweed salad they might forget the seaweed. They used to bring delicious pickled ginger with the wasabi but lately it's not there anymore. Managers aren't even Japanese, they're Chinese. Service is on average a little on the slower side. Sake is good. In regards to service and most food, sumo express down the street wins. Service here used to be better years ago but maybe the whole tip dispersing debate left a bad work ethic taste in the management's mouths. read more

Ok... I'm not sure what the deal is in moses lake but good service is very hard to find. Let me start off with the food. 3 of us had the teriyaki chicken and sushi. I ordered 5 rolls for my husband to go. $90.. and don't forget the $2.50 for the to go. Even tho I ate there and so did 3 others. Our food was good. I'm giving Tsunami Sushi five stars with a couple minor reservations. Definitely the best of the available Japanese restaurants in the area. I somewhat disagree with a previous review stating the fish was tasteless and all the fish tasted the same. Our experience found the fish very fresh tasting. But we have had similar experiences at other sushi restaurants due to the fact that all sushi grade fish in the U.S. is required to be frozen at a real low temperature which can downgrade the flavor from that of truly fresh fish. For the specifics of our visit we ordered water as we are non-drinkers, the tempura calamari, shrimp noodle soup, general sauce chicken, caterpillar roll, and the Lucky boat. As I stated I have a couple minor reservations. First we ordered water and the waiter brought us bottled water @ $1.25 each rather than tap water in a glass. I personally dislike most bottled water because of the plastic taste and when we asked for plain tap water instead the waiter tried his best to convince us to take the bottled as the tap water is "dirty". Sorry, but I've existed on Moses Lake tap water since 1960 and haven't died yet. The second reservation is the calamari. While delicious, eight slices of breaded calamari really isn't worth two pennies less than $9. Otherwise the food was top notch. The noodle soup was incredible, probably the best we have ever had anywhere other than in Japan. The chicken entree was very flavorful. As for the sushi/sashimi it compared equally with that of better U.S. Japanese restaurants and again the better choice for this locality. All that said, I'd go back again. read more

This place was cute? We came in on a Monday afternoon and they were pretty busy. We ordered some salmon, a roll, and beef yakisoba. The sushi was surprisingly good coming from a small town & in the middle of no where. Yakisoba was good as well. The place seemed clean but was a little awkward because there was no music so all you hear are the employees talking amongst each other and the cooking sounds. Seems to be family owned, the cooks were delivering food and the cooks were handing out menus; there was a lot of team work which was nice to see. One main downfall of this place was the sushi rice. It was super sweet and no vinegar and salt seems to have been added... just sugar:( so it made everything taste sweet. Presentation was good though! Sushi & hot food was better than a lot of places I've been to even in Seattle. Will be back when in the area! read more

If I could give no stars I would. If you want nasty sushi that tastes old, spicy mayo that tastes sweet, then this is your place. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and the dynamite roll, both were terrible, the Philadelphia roll had a sliver of smoked salmon and fake crab in it, which I know isn't the normal for this roll, they probably know smoked salmon costs more then some fake crab. The dynamite roll had slimy scallops on it, it was cold and not baked. How hard is it to make spicy mayo? I mean come on it's mayo and siriracha, I don't know what they made theirs with but they need to throw it all in the trash. What a disappointment. Trash sushi, just a complete waste of money. I've been coming here on and off for maybe the last five years on my visits to Moses Lake. I've always liked their sushi in the past, and this trip was no exception. I think that everything we ordered was nicely prepared and reasonably priced. Based on any previous visit, I would have given this place maybe four stars... but it seems that Tsunami is getting a bit tattered and threadbare. The booths and table tops didn't seem particularly clean. The menus were a bit oily feeling, which is sort of disconcerting in the age of COVID at a restaurant where you may be eating with your hands. I get it... they're probably short-staffed - as would be indicated by the hand-scrawled "hiring" signs in the front window. Food is still good and reasonably priced. They just need to step up their cleaning game and show their customers they care. I hope to see more attention to detail and give Tsunami an additional star on my next visit. read more

Food? Truly RAD. The Escolar is incredible. Atmosphere - Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. I mean REALLY. The screaming Japanese comedy show on the screen that only the staff understands and laughs along with? What the heck?! Service - Meh! We requested the wifi password and were told they don't know it. We asked for plates to split things and we got them but they weren't stoked about the request. Menu - Seriously I haven't giggled this much at menu design in a while. They apparently had a price cut across the board as just about everything on the menu is slashed through in pen and or sharpie. But the sirloin steak? Well now...THAT is typeset and printed in a lovely fashion to be "temporarily out of stock". I asked the lady why it was all slashed through and she said "the competition...we have to bring people back in". Total foodgasm! I dropped in tonight for dinner with a friend. I'd seen this place a million times and finally decided to try it. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long! We were seated quickly and our drinks, hot tea, also arrived quickly. The selection was impressive. It was quite a discussion to narrow down my choices. I finally decided on a deep-fried California roll. The breading was light and crispy with a very satisfying crunch. The mixture of flavors was perfect. It would have been incredible even if it were naked... But it wasn't... It was drizzled with two perfectly complementary sauces that were the "icing on the cake" as it were. Great food, terrible customer service. Server only came to take orders and bring food. We waited 15 minutes for him to come back to the table. We needed to get up and ask for sauces and he was irritated. There were no soy sauce trays on any tables so we had to get up and ask him for those too, gave us bowls that miso soup goes in. Then we had to get up and ask for wasabi because none of our five plates of sushi had wasabi or ginger. Once again irritated that we asked and instead walked away to answer the phone that began ringing midst conversation. This was the day with the young boy who styled his hair like Justin Bieber and a young girl. Thought they'd be nicer for their age.
