Tried this place on a whim. We were working in Winter Haven for the week and didn't want to eat at the usual fast food haunts. So we looked up restaurants and sorted by distance and landed on Tsunami Sushi. The staff was incredible, making recommendations and even suggested some modifications. Totally awesome. Now to the food; it was amazing. We got a salad, some sushi and poke tacos. The poke tacos were the winner as favorite dish. Not sure when we'll be back to this area of Florida, but when we do we'll be back. read more

Terrible wait time to order and wait so long to get food too , it took them about 40 min to get our food and I only blame it in the owners because they are short staff and waitresses are running everywhere like chickens on a run .... Place is crowded and our expectations were high and we ended up with full disappointment, The sushi was not even a wow , we're ok but nothing that will make me come to this place again . Good sushi. Extensive menu. Friendly staff. The only negative is that when we first got there, they were trying to take our order right away, but we needed some time to look over the menu. Once we had decided, it took them a while to come back around to take down the order. read more

My kids love sushi and after a day at Legoland, I was happy to oblige with their favorite request. Service was shared by all the servers and they were happy to help each other out, which I very much prefer over section only assistance. We started off with the salted edamame and seaweed salad for an appetizer. My seven-year-old boys love edamame, and there was plenty enough for everyone in the portion. The seaweed salad was just a seaweed salad should be, but delivered in a very cute boat and very eye appealing as the appetizer. Then came our rolls, and we had rolls on rolls! There are so many delicious things on the menu that we just couldn't say no. I would recommend all of what we had: Atlantic, Malibu, Negihana, Hawaiian, Samurai Ninja Roll, and Diablo Roll! You really can't go wrong with the rolls here. Incredibly tasty, affordable and an all around enjoyable experience! P.S., just in case, make a reservation- we walked in just a moment after another family of 4 on the Saturday night- they had to wait and we got the first table since we had called ahead! Came here because the ratings were super high. Not sure if we caught staff on a bad night, but it wasn't my favorite. The rice was old and dry, and we ordered these tuna sushi wonton chips that sat on the sushi bar table so long by the time they got to us it was soggy. The tuna itself and the fish in the sushi was very fresh, and the servers were nice. It's gorgeous inside, I'd be willing to give another try. read more

Love, love this place. The Mexican and the Florida is my favorite. I usually place an order on Wednesday. They are always so busy in the evening I can only imagine how busy they are in the weekends. They have two other locations but the Winter Haven by Legoland is the closest to me. read more

Never disappoints! I am so thankful for this consistent gem. The sushi is always the right temperature which is super important. If it's raw, it should be cold and fresh, if cooked it should be temp appropriate and flavorful. Did I mention creative?! I know there are vacationers to our area, and they may not know what they are walking into, but as a local I am grateful to be recognized and appreciated when my husband and I walk in the door. Our family took a quick trip to Legoland. We wanted to splurge on yummy food, and found this gem. Not sure if this place is usually pretty busy, as it was spring break week, and we dined there on a Tuesday. The wait time was not long at all, possibly 10 minutes. Service was great and ambiance pretty typical for a sushi restaurant. The star of the show was the food AND the prices. The food was really scrumptious. Probably took a few minutes longer than we were hoping for, but good things come to those who wait, right? And the prices?! compared to what we are used to in South Florida, these rolls are a steal. Cheers!!! Ok not but when you walk in your greeted with a hello from the staff. Which are all very friendly. The place was clean the two servers working were very friendly they worked together as a team. Making sure customers always have what they need. We had the rodeo roll, California Roll and Krabby Roll all had great taste. The wasabi definitely will clean your sinuses out. Sodas (Pop) are served in cans with a glass of ice. Stopped here for lunch while on the road. It was delicious! My only complaint is that they put pepper in their crab wontons and I personally do not like black pepper. The service was great though! The servers were fast and friendly! It was a pretty busy lunch shift so we sat at the bar and that was nice. This place was fun and casual. read more

Well lookey what the cat dragged in in on this impromptu date night! After a couple of delicious concoctions at our fave local bar, we realized we needed some grub to soak up said liquid delights. Hubby is a native NYC'er and heretofore skeeved out by the idea of local sushi... However, the stars aligned (along with that 2nd Manhattan) and I was able to convince him to give it a whirl. Tsunami was surprisingly decent- as good as whole foods counter sushi, without the 2 hour drive. My favorite items were the lemon garlic edamame and the Heaven roll. While it wasn't nuanced or inspiring, it was good enough, without any repercussions. We will be back the next time the need for quick sushi overrides the fear of said sushi read more

This place is BY FAR the best sushi place in Polk County. I've seen these people take so much shit from customers (I'm a regular) but they're the sweetest group of people you'll ever meet. Theyre also very aware and cautious of allergies. I have severeballergies to certain items on the menu and have never once had an issue with them!So come try it for yourself! The manager is an ABSOLUTE GEM and a ray of sunshine. My favorite server is Deanna but the others are just as great ! read more

Tsunami Sushi is a favorite of locals with two locations in Winter Haven, FL. This location on Cypress Gardens Blvd. is conveniently located right around the corner from Legoland, making it a popular stop for tourists too. It is located in the same shopping plaza as Tijuana Flats, Tips & Tods Nail Salon, and Cypress Cigars, near the Dollar Tree. They have a clean establishment with a wide variety of sushi and sashimi options on their menu. Their sushi and sashimi are beautiful, bountiful, and always taste fresh. The atmosphere is nice, but not extraordinary. Seating is limited during peak times, and they have some odd hours of operation. The staff is always friendly end Love you and usually attentive. Because they are adjacent to the cigar shop, there is occasionally a faint cigar odor, which is not a problem if you like cigars, but can otherwise be distracting to those who cannot discern the occasional odor. On the other hand, if you like cigars, just walk next door after dinner from a great selection. I love, love, love the sashimi and nigiri at Tsunami Sushi. The Kendra Roll, Firecracker Roll, and Volcano Roll are very good and will satisfy those with bigger appetites. If you're looking for a more romantic atmosphere, the location on Central Avenue in downtown is better and provides access to the local bars, if that's your thing. read more

I came here on a Saturday night after coming out of Legoland, my 4 year old daughter was asking for ramen, which she loves. Unfortunately they did not have ramen, but they had Udon, and the waitress was super nice, not only about the Udon's special instructions, but also about bringing the udon first and quickly. If you want to find good sushi with welcoming staff and quick service. Look no further. Tsunami sushi was great. Me and my boyfriend got the Scorpion and African roll and they were great. Due to covid, we were forced to use grubhub. I placed the order through the app and called the restuarant to verify, they were super kind to verify the order and the food came sooner than they had said, that's always a plus!! We ordered the lobster roll, yummly crumbly, and the paradise roll. They were so delicious. The only downside I would say, is the rolls were kind of small. They were only 6 pieces to each roll and I'm used to loaded rolls for the price. So it was a little disappointing but I would still come back. The taste and flavors were definitely there, the combinations were great. If only they wouldnt skimp a little, they'd be amazing read more

Delightful reprieve after a day at Legoland. Surprisingly authentic and delicious sushi spot just minutes outside the gate. Great sushi and a great kids menu. Sushi was good and this was the busiest restaurant that i have seen in 8 months which speaks to its reputation and quality. I would give it 5 stars but my philly roll came with smoked salmon but wasnt described as such. I hate smoked salmon and sometimes i feel like its an excuse to not use fresh salmon. This is a great spot for sushi, not to be confused with the one in downtown Winter Haven off Central. In my humble opinion the service and sushi are way better here. We are vegan and they will make vegan rolls in a variety of styles so you get an assortment - ask for the Adams Rolls. We have never been disappointed. If you have a large party, it's best to call ahead...it's not a large dinning area, but the will reserve tables for you. We have also ordered take out from here and it's also good. read more

My daughter and I love sushi so we had to give this place a try while on vacation. It was so good we ate here 2 days in a row! Once we picked up takeout and the next we ordered through GrubHub. Over the 2 days we had the Diablo roll, american roll, chicken yaki soba, miso soup, California roll and bagel roll. Everything was DELICIOUS! So fresh!!! And the staff was so friendly. I would come back to this place if I was ever back in the area for sure! Very clean. There was only one other person in here when I first got here but it was filling up quickly by the time I left and the waitress seemed to know everyone. The selection was very large. The only negative comment I have is that they charge more than a $1 for soy paper substitution. read more

It looks small from the outside but its pretty big on the inside especially when the extension is the produce seafood and meat are located. It is clean inside but there is a stench when you reach the produce meat and seafood aisle. The shelves and items are organized and neat and somewhat easy to find things in particular. The freezer section to em need to eb restocked since a few areas were almost empty with items. I was in a hunt for a small bottle of LKK Hoisin sauce and they offered smaller bottles for about $3 I think. They have reasonable prices on some items. And some are similar priced to other asian stores nearby. They do sell the viral fruit ice cream pops that come in those containers where it holds the popsicle stick. I was not interested in them so I passed them by. This store is not busy or crowded like Lotte or Enson. This place has a good variety of cute kawaii dishwares. I would come back here again but I prefer Lotte / Enson for more variety.
