This place has one of the best wagyu in the area, but the portion is way too small. The waygu set i got was $100, supposed to be for 2 person but that barely filled me up. Nevertheless, the meat melts in your mouth like butter and it was super fast to cook. I got their vegetables assortment as a side, which is average. To end the meal, i tried their matcha fudge ice cream which was pretty good. They whisk the matcha right in front of you. Service was super fast and friendly. This place would be the perfect waygu place for me if they increased the portions and if the sides tasted better.

Came here because Tsuruhashi was closed for a week, menu is pretty similar to Tsuruhashi but with more nicer cuts of beef. We ordered the Tsuruhashi set which comes with Skirt steak, rib eye, short rib & miso chicken. We also got an order of beef tongue, pork cheek, kimchi fried rice, combination kimchi set and sanchu. The skirt steak was rly good & I enjoyed the beef tongue a lot. Rib eye was kinda tough but the short rib was fire! Pork cheek is always super good especially cooked crispy and wrapped up in lettuce. The miso chicken was good too, really big chunks of chicken! The combination kimchi is always a hit; but the kimchi fried rice was a huge let down for us. Usually it comes out super red & with lots of kimchi but this time around it was super light in color and had NO kimchi flavor so that was pretty disappointing Service was good, our server was attentive and very sweet. The vibes are a lot nicer here than at regular Tsuruhashi, the tables and grills are more modern & the larger tables are super nice too

This is the additional space that the OG Tsuruhashi has built a following from. Decor is much cleaner and nicer than the original and they take reservations. Service is top notch, people are super nice. Onto the food. DELICIOUS!!! Their marveling is fantastic . It comes for a pretty penny but worth every penny. If come back here but make sure you're not expecting a ayce as it's al la carte everything

Some people will choose Anjin, but if I gotta put all my cards down, it gotta be Tsuruhashi Plus for having the best quality A5 waygu Japanese BBQ in OC. Celebrated Father's Day here and it was a fantastic experience. It's reservations only too. The marbling on the waygu is perfection. Looks like diamonds glistening in the meat. I always make sure to eat the A5 last because the fattiness and savoriness may kill your appetite. It's like eating a stick of butter and you might get sick of it. The Kobe beef was also very tender and the Japanese salad tasted refreshing. Can't forget the Dasai too. This sake is sooo smooth like water. You guys gotta try it. Overall, definitely would come back to this dope spot. The service was good even though she was by herself. People come thru for some bomb food!

Shochu on special, very good and inexpensive

Although we have been to the original Tsuruhashi, this was our first visit to Tsuruhashi Plus. The interior is more open and modern here. The food and service is absolutely just as great. In addition there were really good specials on the Suntory draft and shochu bottle. The meat quality is very good and the price point is very reasonable. Best of all, the grills have that internal suction so you don't have to worry about the smoke.

came here for a special occasion, this location is so much nicer than the OG and accepts reservations! the interior is very clean and modern. service and food was just as great as the other location. the rice wasn't as great as i remember though. highly recommend the beef tartare, tsuruhashi platter, seaweed egg soup. i'd skip the assorted kimchi.

    Matcha Fudge was really yummy!

We celebrated our anniversary here and couldn't have picked a better place! The meat quality was top-tier especially the wagyu and every bite was packed with flavor. The lady was warm, attentive, and to our surprised the best matcha fudge dessert we had! A perfect spot for a special night. Highly recommended!

Recommend calling for a reservation as this spot has limited seating, similar to tshurashi across the street. Personally i recommend doing one of the sets instead of the omakase. There's less meat options but if you know what you like you get a bigger portion size. Highly recommend the wagyu garlic fried rice as well! Service is solid and they kind of watch you cook before bring out the next meat in order to not rush/overwhelm you.

PLEASE COME HERE!!!! This is it. This is the best Japanese bbq you'll ever have. Service is unmatched, atmosphere is unmatched it's so clean and so cute and feels very personal. I would say there's about maybe 10-14 booths. It's small but so well thought out you feel like you're in your own little room if you make a reservation. I would suggest making a reservation because it is a popular spot and not many booths. I've never had a better Filet Mignon its the best I've ever had it's so tender and the flavor is out of this world. The Prime Ribeye is also a great option flavor is amazing and very tender. The after dinner tea is such a nice way to end your meal and really makes you feel special. The interior is so so so nice. This is the only place I've ever taken videos on the inside but i had to because it needs to be shown it's so cute!! I think everyone should try this place. The garlic rice is also a great side dish and I would recommend that. Will be coming here over and over. Worth every penny.

Tried the JP Wagyu--rich flavor with a touch of fat, just how it should be. Thinking of sampling the American Wagyu next time for comparison. Service was a bit slow, but understandable with only two ladies running the floor. Worth the wait if you're not in a rush.

    American Wagyu short ribs.

If you like Japanese BBQ and don't want to wait in line at the sister restaurant Tsuruhashi, then visit this place. Same owner. Same style of food. Just a newer and cleaner version. I like it here because it is quiet and there is more privacy. Meat is fresh. I recommend this place. Free and ample parking.

A crazy selection of beer just as you walk in the door from multiple microbrewery's in cans and bottles. Just open the door and select one. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, that's what we had. I had the Mango Hefeweizen 16oz beer and my wife had the Slap & Tickle 16oz. Both were exceptional. It was happy hour and we got our beers for $6. We had two each. We had the roasted brussel sprouts as a shared appetizer and it was fantastic. It was done in a balsamic vinaigrette reduction with small pieces of salami fried in. Out of this world good. My wife had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, grilled, with just regular fries and really Loved it. I had the bacon & blue burger with regular fries and it was fantastic. They were slammed when we went in around 4:15pm with an unscheduled nsoftball team eating and it did take some time for them to get to us, but once they did everything went great. Friendly staff and great food. It was clean and other than the softball team not to loud. We will be back to this place again. Highly recommend it.

The mixology was exceptional. The Gold Rush (lemon, honey, and whiskey) was fresh and balanced, and the smoked walnut cocktail was creative without being overpowering. I typically don't enjoy Old Fashioneds -- they can lean too strong or overly sweet -- but this one was perfectly blended and easily one of the best I've tasted. The food pairings were just as thoughtfully executed, from toast points with roasted garlic and blue cheese to jalapeño poppers, brisket, wings, and a decadent chocolate molten cake to finish. What truly stood out was the atmosphere and service. We made our reservation only a couple of hours before the event, and the staff graciously rearranged seating so we could sit with our friends. The patio heaters, string lights, and intimate setting made it feel like a beautifully produced private event. It was a memorable birthday evening, and we will absolutely be back.

We went on a Wednesday, which is bingo night. I believe Tuesday is trivia night. The outdoor setup is great, especially on a nice evening. Lots of bench-style tables, plenty of room to hang out with friends, and everything felt clean and well kept both inside and outside. They have a good selection of beers with plenty of choices. You can order up front, and occasionally someone will come around to the tables too. Service was good and everyone was friendly. They also had a pizza vendor there making thin, crispy pizzas, which were pretty good and perfect with a beer. I heard Flashpoint recently celebrated their sixth anniversary with a big party. We missed that, but even on a regular Wednesday night the place had a great vibe. Big bonus for me, I was able to ride my bike here from home, which made the night even better. As we approached Harper's, the first thing that caught us was the unmistakable aroma of pecan and hickory burning. You could smell the smoke before you even walked through the gate, and honestly, it was impossible not to follow it. We had been looking for barbecue after we couldn't get into the Orange County Fair, and thankfully, Harper's was close by. We pulled up, saw the wood stacked outside, smelled that incredible smoke, and immediately thought, "Okay, we may have just found something good." We finally found street parking and walked in, expecting the place to be packed because it looked incredibly busy. It was busy, but surprisingly, it didn't feel crowded or chaotic. The property itself is beautiful--landscaped, open, and thoughtfully designed. There are two patios in the front, an enclosed room with a bar, and then an outdoor backyard-style area with additional seating. But the real showstopper is the smokehouse. As soon as you walk through the gate, you can see this massive smoke room and the working barbecue pits right there in full view. You can see the smoke, the wood, the pits, and the barbecue being cooked right in front of you. It immediately sets the tone for what you're about to eat. Ordering is simple and casual. You walk up, choose your meats and sides, and they plate everything right in front of you. The meats are priced by the pound. And then came the beef rib. I have to say this because I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it: that beef rib was phenomenal. This was actually the first beef rib I've ever ordered. I've had a friend order beef ribs at another barbecue restaurant before, and I remember thinking they were somewhat chewy. So I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. Harper's completely changed my mind. The bark was incredible--deeply smoked, beautifully seasoned, and packed with flavor. And the tenderness was unbelievable. It was like eating pot roast on a stick. The meat was so tender and flavorful, and the combination of that bark, the smoke, the seasoning, and the texture was an absolute dopamine hit with the first bite. I cannot stress enough how good this beef rib was. The St. Louis pork ribs were equally delicious--smoky, flavorful, tender, and exactly what you want from good barbecue. We also tried the cornbread muffin, Brussels sprouts, and vinegar-based coleslaw. Everything was delicious. The only thing I would personally change would be cooking the Brussels sprouts a little longer. I prefer mine more tender, but that's completely a matter of personal preference. I'm currently doing carnivore and avoiding sugar, so I had to resist the pulled pork, even though I love pulled pork. I noticed they use Cali Gold barbecue sauce with it, so when I'm off this diet, that is absolutely going on my list. They also had smoked turkey and brisket, which I somehow talked myself out of ordering. I already regret that decision. And now I'm wondering whether they do smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving, because I would absolutely show up at my mother-in-law's house with a Harper's smoked turkey. The service was excellent. We were greeted immediately with warmth and kindness, and everyone was welcoming. And I have to mention the atmosphere because I was genuinely impressed by the space. This isn't just a place to grab barbecue and leave. It's a beautiful, comfortable space with multiple seating areas that would be fantastic for an anniversary, birthday, private gathering, or even a small wedding. Harper's feels like one of those places you're lucky to stumble upon. If you love barbecue, you need to experience this place for yourself. From the moment that pecan and hickory smoke finds you outside, all the way to that first bite of perfectly smoked beef rib, Harper's delivers. And that beef rib? Absolutely unforgettable. Run, don't walk, to Harper's.

The lot was full, and the line stretched past the front patio and onto the sidewalk. We ended up parking a couple of blocks away and walking over. Despite the long line, it moved at a reasonable pace. One thing that helped was being able to grab drinks from the bar while we waited. They have a great selection of beers and seltzers, and it looked like a lot of people were picking up to-go orders as well. For our meal, we ordered the 4-6 person platter, which included beef cheek, tri-tip, ribs, sausage, chicken, pulled pork, six sides, cornbread, rolls, and pickles. We also added the 5-cheese mac and cheese. Everything was flavorful and there was more than enough food for our group. The sides were excellent. We tried the pit beans, pee wee potato salad, carne con chile, farro salad, and wild rice salad. My favorite was the warm potato salad with mustard, brown butter, capers, and dill...it was unique and absolutely delicious. The restaurant offers lots of seating with outdoor dining areas both in the front and back. They also have a private room with windows overlooking the main dining room. During our visit, it was hosting a private party of about 20 people. The kids loved their root beer floats, and by the end of the meal we were way too full to even consider dessert. That's definitely something we'll have to come back and try next time. Overall, the food was worth the wait, the atmosphere was lively, the world cup was playing on the tvs and even on one of the busiest days of the year the staff kept things moving smoothly. We'll definitely be back.
