I had seen this place multiple times on my way and around Southern California. Specifically the Costa Mesa Newport Beach area but never stopped by. Today. My friend had to go shopping and so we decided to grab a bite to eat at kenwoods. From the outside, the windows are so darkly tinted. I couldn't tell if they were open or not. But upon opening the door there were people scattered throughout the place. So we just walked into the bar area and got a high top table. Server came up to us, asked us for drinks and handed us menus. He came back shortly after we gave him the order. I had a chicken Caesar salad and a space dust double IPA, my friend just had a cup of coffee. The chicken Caesar was really good, and the beer was as expected. The first cup of coffee that he brought to the table was cold so we had to send that back to get a fresh cup. Now it wasn't that busy so I would think that the server would take a moment to check to see that the coffee was warm, but apparently that didn't happen. I got my food and started digging in and the coffee came out a few minutes later. The salad was good, had a nice size chicken breast on top and the dressing was really tasty, not overpowering. I was a little bit stunned at the bill when it came to the table and it was $35 plus dollars, I guess the food and grocery hikes still surprise me, although they shouldn't. The dining experience was okay, it wasn't stellar by any means, but it was adequate, I didn't felt neglected or rushed in any way. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the coffee incident. Having been a server in the food industry. That's definitely one of the things you look for. The size of the portions were huge the bbq sauce was a vinegar based sauce and not to my liking. I did manage to eat one. The waiter offered to exchange my meal but I opted to just eat the tater tots. But they were way too salty for my taste and I had him take the plate. Stopped by for dinner one night with my wife. Went back to this place after my brother took me here for lunch after a round of golf one afternoon. Hostess was super nice and got us to a high top table near the bar due to the bar not having any room. Waiter was great. Made sure we were taken care of with waters and got our drinks right away. Tomato soup was very tasty. Great flavor. My wife and I shared the spicy spinach artichoke dip. It is definitely spicy but very tasty. The chips were outstanding. Plenty of spinach in the dip. With that being said, it has now become my go to spot to watch Football on Sunday mornings. They plenty of TV screen to watch multiple games at once. Our entrees included: the Baja Chicken salad, Cobb salad and Grilled chicken plate. We all enjoyed our food and commented on how delicious our food was. Although prices have gone up everywhere to eat out, we felt that the quality of the food at Kenwood's is definitely worth the price. Special shout out to our server Dylan and the bartender and food runners who took care of us. Even if the food was just "okay," I would continue to come back to Kenwood's for the amazing service. We have been coming to Kenwoods for quite a while now and I had never gotten around writing a review. We discovered this place a couple years back and I was hooked after our initial visit. Let me start by saying that the service has always been really good and they really seem to care about their guests which is appreciated. The food is also very good (albeit a bit hit or miss on somedays) and I have never left dissatisfied. I have had the chopped wedge salad , the chicken wings, the morning glory burger, bbq chicken flatbread amongst other offerings and each was great in their own way. My wife and mom have also enjoyed their dishes here as well from the burgers to the garlic herb chicken, to the salmon and more. The place can get busy at times but we have always been lucky with our timing. They have a fairly large indoor seating area as well as a large outdoor patio. Parking is usually fairly easy to find but is shared with many other businesses and restaurants in the shopping center. They also have great happy hour specials on appetizers and drinks as well that will save you a few bucks, so be sure to take advantage. I love gastropubs. The vibe is usually upbeat and the setting very chill. A lot of gastropubs have up their food game and Kenwood's is right up there in quality offerings. Now, if you're like me, then you like less salt in your food and will need to ask for that when you're ordering. Most gastropubs use a bit more salt than I like but I get it, more salt more drink orders. So just make sure that you take that into consideration. Crispy Cauliflower was fantastic. It definitely lives up to the name Crispy! Pork Chop moist and tender. The bacon jam wasn't over the top and wasn't too salty. Broccoli was really good just a bit too salty for me but the baked potato wasn't salty so it all blends well together as a meal.
