I've tried to get a carry out from here on 6 different occasions and was successful once. The food was good when I was able to get it. The hours are very inconsistent. They are closed very early and at very odd times. I have opted to use one that is consistent with their hours that is a bit further away. I like consistency and the hours here are far from that. It hasn't been temporarily either, had been this way for years. Not sure how they honestly continue to stay in business. I used to love Tubby's, but I got this sandwich there recently and it was so disgusting so sloppy, what a mess. I was just picking out the pieces of meat. I'm pretty sure they're gonna be made. The original Tubby's on 13. & Harper has the original bread. This location the bread overwhelmed the steak and cheese and that was put on very sparingly. Disappointed- my husband has never lived in Michigan and I raved about Tubbys. This was a disappointment. read more

Service was good. The kid at counter did everything right and was helpful. The food however was a waste of money. We had steak and cheese and chicken and broccoli subs. There was literally 2 small piece of broccoli on sandwich and barely any chicken. The steak was minimal. You mainly got lettuce and a huge bun. Honestly my sub was really good. Close to the end I noticed something strange in my steak and cheese sub... I'm pregnant and the fact that I saw this made me throw the rest away and I will not be ordering the steak and cheese again because what is this??? It's been 6 years since my last visit and again I have to say, never again.I just ordered and picked up 2 subs and a drink. I asked for a cup for water, the owner/manager handed me a styrofoam cup. I asked for a lid because it was a to go order. He said he didn't have lids those cup, I asked for a cup with a lid, like the one I paid for. His reply was "those cost" I asked him again as it was to go. Nope! Yes, sir they do cost- cost you my future business. Horrible! Bad reviews in the past and now it's under "new management"... and it might be worse now. Ordered 2 meals today, 1 sub was made wrong before even making it out to us. but staff said nothing to us. 4 people after us all got their subs and left before we went to the counter and they said we made the large sub wrong. so the other sub and 2 orders of fries got cold and hard. finally got our food and the remade sub and the other sub was wrong. Looked over the receipt and it was correct there so the girls did everything correct, the cook messed it up. Then they were talking out loud about the first sub that was screwed up because they could just use that one it just had lettuce on it. One girl said it was thrown away already. He was going to serve us a sub he messed up AGAIN! And change that one into my wife's sub now. That didn't work so he came out and said I'm all out of cheeseburger do you want a steak and cheese instead... we opted for a refund. He refunded my wife's meal only and we left throwing everything else in the trash where it belonged. Go to a different location if you have the time. This is the best Tubbys in the area. I've been coming here for years and the few reviews mentioning rude service just baffle me. The owner is helpful and kind and always willing to chat. The ladies making the subs are the friendliest, welcoming, and helpful people I've ever met let alone at a small sub shop. The food is always fresh and they load their sandwiches. I haven't been to a tubbys in over 20 years..got a steak and cheese, with mushrooms. 8" for 8.98. Very small amount of meat, lettuce and Everything for that matter. Definitely not like what I remember. No wonder Michigan is being flooded by sub shops. Tubbys once had the sub market in Michigan, not anymore. Stick a fork in Tubbys... My wife stopped by yesterday through the drive thru to bring me home a steak and cheese sub,it had less then half of the steak they normally have. It was like eating a lettuce and tomato sub. This just might be hands down one of the most depressing places I've ever set foot in. My goodness, what is going on in this place. By the time I walked out with my 2 subs, I felt like I had entered the Twilight Zone. I couldn't tell if I needed a drink or a Prozac. The place is eerily empty. Like not just because there wasn't a soul in the place beside me and the two employees but because the place was simply empty. It felt as if they were getting ready to go out of business. The bread rack, which we usually see full of trays of sub buns at other sub places, had 2 lonely tray of sub buns. Sub buns that were screaming to be thrown in the garage rather than be turned into someone's lunch for fear of being hated forever. Ugh. I was at the counter and already greeted by the employee. I was committed now, like it or not. I bellied up and was thankful I at least had a coupon for $5 off my order. (But really, would you expect anything else from me- the coupon queen.) I placed my order for a Tubbys Famous and a Chicken and cheddar both large size. Famous was $7.65 and chicken was $8.95, and the large size was a foot long (I'm pretty certain). The famous has cotta salami, hard salami and ham with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and their famous dressing which is like a creamy Italian. The chicken and cheddar was just that with ranch and lettuce, tomato and onion. I opted to have both grilled. I asked if the subs came with banana peppers and I was told no. What!? No banana peppers on an Italian sub?? She asked if I wanted to add them. I asked if they were extra and she told me $1 per sub extra for peppers. I said forget it, I'll add some of my own when I get home. Why to nickel and dime your customer. When every other sub place gives you free unlimited toppings this place is charging you $1 extra for banana peppers. Cheap company. My subs took forever to make. Mind you, I was the only customer the entire time I was here. But wow.....slowest sub making ever! I receive my subs and quickly walked out into world. I felt foggy and dazed.... it was the Twilight zone in there- no joke! My sub were not worth it. Not even with the $5 coupon. The chicken was this "chopped and formed" and then sliced and then chopped again on the flat top by-product. It was disgusting. It tasted like a cheap chicken by-product hotdog. The famous was equally gross fake luncheon meat. It wasn't even deli quality meat. It was like the cheap by-product stuff you see sold for $.99 for a 1 pound package in the grocery store. Oh course I asked for heavy veggies and that was completely ignored. And the bread, I'm so sorry bread- but I hate you. Stale and hard at the ends, but soggy and mushy in the middle where the pool of dressing consumed it. The employee greeted me so that's a plus. Take your sub cravings else where. This place is clean enough and the owner is usually friendly, BUT he has cut way back on the meats that go in to the sandwiches! I ordered a grilled chicken and I found it hard to see anything but veggies and bread! Like HALF of the usual chicken was in my sandwich! I tried again with a steak and cheese.......... same thing. I had not been to a tubbys in a long time and I took my daughter here after picking her up from pre school. I remembered that Tubbys usually has some special on Tuesdays but couldn't remember exactly what it was. I asked the man working (I'm assuming the owner) if they still had the Tuesday special. He quickly replied, " you have to buy 2 med drinks. I said ok, what exactly is the special? He then said " and it has to be the large subs". Ok, what exactly is the special? He so rudely replied (like I was stupid for asking) " you have to buy 2 med drinks and 2 large subs and the second sub is half off!" He then turned his head away from me and pounded his fist on the register like he was so bothered to have to explain it! The other lady behind the counter gave me a look like she knew he was being rude and didn't know what to say. I told him thanks anyways but we are leaving and I walked out. I could not believe how rude he was!! I will never go in there again, and from the looks of the other reviews, I'm not the only one that feels this way! It's less than a half a mile from my house and I would rather drive to the Garfield or Van Dyke locations and spend my money where it is appreciated. Terrible customer service! read more

Dont bother. This isnt the Tubbys of the past. Its now a generic sub par in name only. If you order a jumbo size you GET the exact same amount of meat as a regular. $9 for a jumbo steak and cheese that weighs about 1 oz. Total fraud and contacting the BBB. We've had average to above average service here. The gentleman behind the cash register is usually engaging and enjoys making a quick conversation about football or the importance of family. Giving them 1 star because I can't give them 0 zero stars. Went there for lunch with my mom. As she was eating it, I noticed a long black hair in her sub. I pulled it out and took it to the counter and the man rudely took the sub and threw it out. They made her a new one and as she was eating that one, I found another. I took the hair and the sub up and the manager actually took the hair out of my hands and examined it. He reacted as if we put the hair in the sub. The manager should have refunded us after the first hair and still didn't after the second hair. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in there today and asked for a turkey sub. Got a turkey pepperoni sub when I called back instead of the owner stating that he was sorry for the confusion he commented that's what you ordered. And I replied with well what do I have to say to order a just plain turkey sandwich and he was so rude by saying just a turkey and cheese sub.
