The first 100 customers will receive a Super Dillborn Pita wrap absolutely free! Of course their entire menu will be available for ordering, but no additional purchase is necessary. The restaurant typically opens at 10:30, but today all locations will be opening theor doors at 10:00 in support of Pita Way Day. This location took was the old Dickies BBQ location located in the plaza on the NE corner of Hall Road at Heydenreich anchored by a Home Depot and a Tatget. There is plenty of free parking out front and the restaurant can be seen directly when driving west on Hall. The Super Dillborn is Pita Way's own Detroit-style shawarma wrap; a fully enclosed wrap resembling a burrito filled with chicken shawarma, pickles, and toum (whipped garlic spread.) The wrap is then brushed with sumac infused olive oil and grilled to a golden crisp. The name is likely a play on both their take of a shawarma wrap and a tribute to Dearborn, MI, a bustling community of Middle Eastern markets and eats. My guess is that the "Super" is in reference to their sumac infused EVOO and grill finish, while the Dill obs references the pickles (only) and the Born is paying homage to the roots of the community. I luch prefer this wrap to the traditional chicken shawarma that is typically not grilled and also may contain lettuce and pucked radishes. While I don't mi d the pickles radishes, I'm not a fan of the lettuce that some places use. The texture is fine, but i find that it dulls and waters down the flavor. The chicken is not shaved off the spit and finished on the grill (to ensure cooking as regulated), rather its cooked entirely on the grill then cut up into pieces. The Super Dillborn was pretty much what I expected it to be. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and nicely cooked. The Super Dillborn is priced at $8, which is pricier than most places, but it is grilled, and i think the price is fair cosidering the high inflation rates weve been experiencing with this latest Presidency. The Super Dillborn is my favorite item on the Pita Way menu. Their Dill Fries are also pretty decent, but pricey at $7. Throw in a drink and you're looking at $20 for a meal. What would be nice is of they created the Dill combo where you could get everything for under $15 (pretty much equates to a free drink.) to give the comminity a itt of a break in these inflated times.
