Being married to a Turk, I always search for Turkish places wherever we go so when we found ourselves in White River Junction VT of all places, I was shocked to see multiple Turkish-themed businesses! We visited the cafe and the home goods store so we had to round out the trifecta and come to Tuckerbox for dinner. It was a random Tuesday and I was pleased to see that it was packed! Luckily we scored a nice table outside and got to enjoy the bustling WRJ street scene as we dined. We started with some cold mezze, babaganoush and ezme. I liked both but the ezme could have been a little spicier. The lavash (which you need to order separately) was very good and the perfect vehicle for delivering the mezzes to your mouth. For an entree, we split a beyti, which is an adana kebab wrapped in lavash. My Turkish husband said it was okay...I liked it all right as well. The adana was good but the lavash was underdone and very doughy. It reminded me of undercooked crescent rolls from Pillsbury. The lavash we had with our appetizers was perfect so this was a little odd. Additionally, although the beyti was served with a yogurt, there is often a tomato sauce on top of the dough and there wasn't any tomato sauce on the dish. I get that people do things differently, but I think a tomato sauce would have added some flavor and acidity to the dish. It was fine but I think the traditional tomato sauce would have kicked it up a notch. They were out of kunefe so we passed on dessert. I think this is a good place and I liked the vibe and the service. Would definitely come back but would probably try a different dish. We will still commit to supporting Turkish businesses wherever we find them and I was happy to see so many people here enjoying their meals.

Such a wonderful find. Made a reservation for Saturday night though they were not super busy. The decor is immaculate and you can find some in their sister store down the street (which I also recommend stopping at). I tried dishes I had never tried before but were so good. I highly recommend the eggplant stuffed lamb. The baklava for dessert was also flaky, dense and the best sweet end to a savory meal

We stopped in here on a whim for lunch and I am glad we did. The hostess asked if we had reservations (we did not), apparently that is a good idea because they are normally much busier at 1pm when we arrived, but she was easily able to seat my husband and I. Honestly, I was hoping to have a soup of some type but there was none available on the menu so I opted for the chicken salad Sandwich (didn't seem a very Turkish fare), but it was good...although the Sandwich needed more chicken salad to offset the thick Texas toast; there really was very little on the Sandwich. My husband had their PLT, a sandwich that had more substance to it (there was more bacon on it than there was chicken on my sandwich)...but again, both sandwiches tasted good. To drink we tried a couple of their cocktails and while tasty and unique they were very speedy, $16 is far too much to charge for them...the price definitely prevented me from having another, and when we go back to have dinner...we probably will skip drinks (not worth $32 for two people.) Don't get me wrong, we aren't cheap people, we just want a good value...the drinks aren't that. Our server was great! He was friendly, helpful, and there when we needed him. Couldn't have asked for more from him. We did also have a hot appetizer. I forget the name of it now, it was $9 for 2, deep fried rolls (like egg rolls of a sort but with Philly dough and filled differently), these were very good...I could have eaten several, I wish I remembered what they were, but they are last on the list of hot appetizers so you can find them.

What a delightful experience. Gorgeous day, bluebird sunny, early autumn, foliage change in full bloom, and I just happened to be in WRJ to enjoy it. I could have been in Europe with the scenery and the people. Tuckerbox is next to the Junction Arts and Media locale, so the place was animated with artsy people as well as visitors and leaf peepers. Service was flawless. I had their gyro on lavash, which was superb. A cappuccino was also part of the faire. The menu looks distinct and appetizing. Definitely return.

Visiting from Maine--I'm SO glad we found this spot on our second day of vacation. I had lamb shish kabobs and it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, easily a 10/10. Lots of non alcoholic drink options, staff is absolutely amazing, everyone is so incredibly friendly and personable, and just a great atmosphere overall. I have been 3x just this week already-ha! Not sure how this isn't a more recommended place!

A really great spot for WRJ! We were one of the last seatings of the night and they had sold out of many of their entrees, so come early. I recommended getting a side of babaganoush if you like me, like having a sauce or spread with your meat. Will be back!

Great date spot and vibe check place in white river junction with pretty good food. It's a Festival of Lights in there Food/ Babaganoush 5/5: Very good thin Rosen bread with the spread, very light and addictive for an appetizer Doner 4.5/5: Very good and easy to eat, pretty good portion and like the sauce and rice that come along with it Balaclava 4.5/5: Great way to end the meal with this flakey, layered sweets for desserts Service: it's trendy and is what it is

The counter server was kind enough to explain different menu items. We ordered a breakfast pide and a ground lamb pide. I got an iced mocha latte, one companion had a hot spiced mocha latte, and another companion had an iced latte with vanilla, I believe. The iced mocha was very good. The food took a bit of time but it was because it needed to cook in the wood fired oven. The ground lamb pide was full of spices and was very flavourful. It was tasty but it got a bit overwhelming when I was eating it alone. My friend offered to share some of her breakfast pide. I am not an egg person but upon the first few bites, I got quite emotional. It immediately made me think of a meal my late grandmother used to make. It was both a bit sad and wonderful as she had passed within a few months of me coming to Cappadocia and the memory associated with food gave me comfort. I'd recommend trying Cappadocia. It's a beautifully decorated space with some seating, it is a nice way to eat something a bit different from most of the food in the area and the food is very good.

After what seems like countless stops with kid and older parents in tow on this particular trip, I was so happy to find a calm and clean place to take a break. This is a smaller Starbucks but still felt spacious. It's very close to highway 89 and a couple of malls. It was a well needed caffeine boost, toddler stretch, and bathroom break. Everything was quite clean. There were a couple long tables and smaller round ones with people reading or working on laptops on a Sunday evening. The drinks were up to snuff as what would be considered usual for Starbucks. But the real gems were the staff. I probably spoke to every person there as I made multiple food and drink orders for various family members, and the staff members answered every question with a smile. They were even happy to provide two free cups of hot water for my non-tea drinking parents, something that staff at other locations have rolled their eyes at. (I will note that we ordered plenty of other drinks and food to make up for the waters.) They were busy with the drive through as well, but we're super friendly and didn't make us or my kid feel like a nuisance. Both gender-neutral bathrooms are large and have changing tables. They could have been a bit cleaner, but still were pretty good for a commuter/traveler-heavy location. One day again I'll be able to breeze in and out of a road trip stop in five minutes or less... one day when there are no more diapers ha. But until then, I hope I'll find other stops like this one that make the car rides that much easier.

But she proceeds to be in the restroom the whole time we were able to place an order for two coffees and wait an unbelievable amount of time. I bet the workers don't even know how to make a damn coffee there is absolutely no reason I should be waiting 30-40mins for cups of coffee. And I can't even use the restroom either because an employee is still in there. I am on a long hour roadtrip with few rest stops. Very upset. And then I try to stand at the counter and place an order I stand there for a solid 10-15 minutes looking like a fool. No assistance whatsoever, maybe if you don't want to do your job install a kiosk or something?? Then eventually I get tired of standing and decide to turn and sit down since all I'm hearing is three people struggling to make two drinks. One of them looks like they are just standing there. Really? I hear one employee keep yelling "ugh. I have to go home, oh my god, I have to go home I've been working so long!" Like... that's kind of unprofessional, everyone has their issues and okay but maybe don't project them on to coworkers and customers... after hearing that and I'm sitting down a working finally walks over to the counter calling to me from afar asking if I would like to place an order. I just shake my head at this point and leave the establishment. Mind you me and my brother are still waiting for the employee in the bathroom mind you. I hope anyone can read this before entering this place, it's pretty awful and should be shut down. Absolutely unacceptable. P.S. there was literally no other customer in the building besides one woman who was basically done with her order and was out the door halfway through this. Along with no door dash orders in the screen and the drive thru was absolutely empty along with the parking lot. Should have definitely taken that as a sign.
