My wife and I have been going to this location for well over 10 years. About 4 years ago (+/-), the main dentist left. It happened right after a corporate takeover. Things have steadily gotten worse. Cleaning before last, the hygienist hurt me. After the cleaning, the dentist reviewed photos of work that she suggested be done. One photo showed a cut to my gum. It was plain as day. However, she covered for the hygienist and said it was a pixel flaw ... or something to that effect. I knew better. My wife's cleaning was terrible as well...terrible. Her hygienist hurt her too. And, it was a different hygienist! Though my last cleaning went very well with a different hygienist, they charged my wife a total of $109 for laser treatment (used to stop gum bleeding during the cleaning process). Not once has my wife ever been told that her gums bled (excessively) during cleaning. The front staff warn you at check in that if it's necessary, they'll use the treatment and that there is an additional charge. They're setting you up. We're never going back... read more

So far so good. I think the staff is friendly and professional. They are on top of things as far as reminders. I haven't seen the dentist here only the periodontist and he's fabulous. It's pricey, but dental work is pricey. I just think Dr. Mata is very good because he is very communicative and takes time to answer questions and explain procedures. Even while he was getting my treatment he let me know exactly what he was doing so that I knew exactly how to let him know that I was OK. Means a lot; I appreciate communication. I hesitated between a 4 and a 5 for this dentist but their friendly and professional staff, from the front desk to the dentist herself, makes anything less than a 5 impossible. My only complaint is the long wait and overall appointment. Every time I've been there, they seem to be running behind. To be fair, they're in a new building and seem to still be working out some kinks in this new place. The actual service and the very reasonable costs were great. I felt like the entire time, everyone I dealt with made an effort to explain what they were going to do or what was going to happen next. They're using the latest equipment that really helps you see what the dentist is seeing and understand what the treatment will be and why it's needed so you feel involved in the decision making and not like an unwilling but resigned participant. I was really worried about my dental appointments due to Covid but everyone I saw/interacted with, staff and patients, was masked and being really careful. I've been coming to this location for quite some time, since I skipped a year they HAVE to do x-rays and they wanted to charge $100. My husband and kids go to a different locations and we did X-rays for them and there was no charge. I dealt with Sal and asked him to check again and he repeated again that I needed to pay for the X-rays. I asked him to have someone else check and he said "I'm the only one here". He didn't sound very knowledgeable that's why I was asking since I've had issues with other offices pulling the same thing on me when I took my kids. They charge and once you call the insurance they tell the office that there shouldn't be a charge and then I have to wait for a refund from the office. I told him then I would skip the X-rays and he said "the won't see you if you don't get your X-rays". Sal didn't bother bringing someone over to explain things to me and see if he was right or wrong in what he was telling me. He was perfectly fine seeing a patient walk away from the business. Sal has NO customer service skills and he's one of the front office workers who drive patients away from the business due to his power trip attitude and lack of knowledge. Get better employees! 10/10 I had a wonderful "pain free" experience The front office Lady named Elizabeth was very friendly and right away helped me check in. I went in because I needed a crown and the Assistant and Dentist Sarah made me feel very comfortable and always made sure I was ok..they even provided me with a blanket because I was cold. Needless to say I do recommend this Dentist office to friends and Family. I love that if you need a crown you can walk out with one, you don't need to wait 2+weeks with a temp crown. This location is very clean and with private rooms where you can't see your neighbor or they can't see you while being worked on also compared to other Dentist offices I've seen, this office has better equipment . I was a patient at Tucson Spectrum Dentistry for two 1/2 years. I spent $1135 on a defective replacement crown. The bite was "off" causing severe damage to the ligaments surrounding my tooth & a broken root. Eventually an infection developed under the crown. Dr. Roberts offered a tooth extraction under local anesthesia, but fell short of offering a refund for his defective crown. Additionally, during my last visit to their dental hygienist for a cleaning, a deep scaling was recommended. The benefits coordinator told me my copay was $800. I opted for a routine cleaning instead. The benefits coordinator said that "as a courtesy" the hygienist would perform a routine cleaning that day, but unless I consented to a deep scaling in future I would be denied treatment. Worst experience!!!!!!!!!! A year ago my then 8 year old was afraid of the dentist doing a deep clean and attempted to push the hygienist hand away. At that point the hygienist said she was "fighting him" and told us he could not clean her teeth and we needed to see a different dentist. Fast forward to today a year later, we are checked in, waiting to be called back after waiting for 30 minutes to be told that she was not allowed to be seen at this office anymore. This place is a dental mill. I only went there because I needed emergency work done. I ended up getting two crowns done over four visits. Paid close to $900 for each with insurance. Went in for a fifth visit and guess what? They said I needed another crown! I knew it was a lie and I walked right the hell out of there. I found a dentist in North Tucson with a smaller client base and who operates in a conservative manner. She does everything she can to preserve the tooth and only recommends crowns as a last resort. I told her about my experience with Tucson Spectrum and how much they charged. She revealed that based on my insurance I wasn't supposed to be charged more than $500 for a crown with the same material. Don't know how they managed to up charge me. I ended up getting an onlay and I've had healthy teeth with no other work needed since. If it was up to Tucson Spectrum Dentistry I'd have a mouth full of crowns and an empty bank account. In conclusion, stay away from dental mills like this. A good piece of advice I received after this happened and, how I was able to find my current dentist is, ask professional folks i.e, doctors, attorneys and, government officials who their dentist is. RUN!!! AND I MEAN RUN FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST AS YOU CAN!! If I could get negative stars, I would. This business is FRAUDULENT! They do nothing by lie about submitting your claims to your insurance and try to get you to do things that are not necessary or right. I had a filling done back on 7/9/2021 and not only have they NEVER submitted anything to my insurance company that filling was so horribly done, it fell out less than 2 years after they did it and their excuse was "fillings aren't meant to last forever". But that was the things, I have had a couple of fillings from when I was a CHILD and not ONE TIME have, they ever fallen out. Nor have I ever had an issue with a filling until coming to this office. Then when it did fall out, they didn't even do a cold test to determine if a root canal was needed with the crown. They went straight for it. (Which after getting a second opinion, I did NOT need the root canal). Then they told me that I had a deep cavity in one of my wisdom teeth. They tried to convince me that I would need a root canal and crown on that one too. Since its a wisdom tooth, it would be nothing but a waste of money to do a root canal & crown. Wisdom teeth are usually pulled at a young age so it should have been suggested to be pulled, if it ever became an issue, which it has not still to this day. Luckily, I chose to leave at that time since they wouldn't fix their shoty work and tried to get me to have an additional $1,500.00 of unnecessary services done and went somewhere else. Then, they never even submitted my claim to my insurance company after telling me they did and that it was denied, which is not the case. To this day, my insurance company has no record of any services being done on 7/9/2021. I am still fighting with them on 3 claims they charged me for but NEVER submitted to my insurance. The office manager Liz, is extremely rude and does nothing but lie as well. I have called and emailed SEVERAL times and they still are refusing to send the claims into my insurance company. And when they actually do send in the claims, they send them in under a wrong address (which they have been notified of several times) so then the one claim they actually sent in was denied due to Out Of Network but if they would have submitted the claim correctly with the correct address the first time, it would not have been out of network. This is a horrible dentist, you should run as fast as you can in the other direction. They lie about submitting insurance claims and lie about their billing and lie about what you actually need. Then they do bad work on top of everything else. This office should be investigated for FRAUD! I wouldn't recommend this office to someone I truly hate; much less to anyone else. RUN AWAY! I came here a couple of years ago. I went in. They basically made me feel like my teeth were crap. I didn't want fluoride and they talked to me like I was stupid for not wanting it. If you want preferences or a lifestyle that doesn't include fluoride you might get talked down upon. Also my jaw locks every now and then. I have TMJ so when the hygienist was opening my mouth I told her I couldn't open that wide and she seemed super annoyed. She did a really good job of hurting my jaw. Hurting my gums and teeth. Also ripping the corner of my mouth. It was all mostly the hygienist who interacted with. I ended up having some expensive laser treatment to clean my mouth but I never went again. The girls at the front desk are amazingly helpful. I brought my nephew in for an appointment and we had some confusion with his insurance, but they sorted everything for us, reassured us, were extremely patient and had great customer service throughout the experience. They were also able to help us get seen the same day we called in to inquire about availabilities. My nephew said that overall, his appointment went well. The dentist told him what was urgent and also what not to worry about immediately (like wisdom teeth). They gave him some swag when we left, and although we didn't use it, they offer a free electric toothbrush if you check in on Yelp. Dentist basically would not even listen to what I wanted she just wanted, I love ended up paying $50 co-pay which I'm not quite sure why when I had nothing done other than sit and wait for them to tell me how much they were going to charge me for worst case scenarios. I had been sitting there for about 30 minutes when it clicked I recognized the dentist she was the same one that told me my daughter needed a root canal luckily I said I wanted a second opinion and she did not need a root canal it was just a cavity, this place is just about getting as much money as they can and they're going to go after the extreme rather than just doing what could or should be done. After waiting in the exam room for 30 minutes, the dentist discussed what she saw in the x-rays (about 4-5 minutes) and then looked at my teeth for 30 seconds before leaving. I'm not even sure she touched my teeth at all. I did not have any cavities or other concerns and I did not see her for the remainder of my visit (a visit taking over 2 hours). After 20 minutes of waiting - again - a dental hygienist came in to examine my gums and informed me I had moderate gum disease and bone loss. According to her, even the healthiest areas of my mouth were still borderline and at risk for gingivitis. I knew, based on an eerily similar experience at Oracle Modern Dentistry, that this would "require" an expensive treatment/cleaning that would "require" additional visits 3-4 times a year for the rest of my life. For clarification, I am in my late 20's and I have brushed and flossed every single day my entire life (at least since I've been old enough to do it ). My gums are not receding, painful, swollen ... etc. Also, previous to moving to Tucson I frequented the same dentist every 6 months for years. He never made any mention of concern about my gums. I informed the hygienist of this and she told me "there must be a genetic reason for this because you're doing everything right! You're SO young to have this problem!" She said it takes years for this degree of bone loss to occur because it is so gradual and she made it clear this progression would have been "painless" and occurred completely unnoticed by me. While that particular fact may be true to a degree, it's also rather convenient for her and this dental office ... I again told her my previous dentist never mentioned my gums being anything but healthy. She responded "I guess there must have been something ... possibly wrong with your original dentist." Nope. There was not. Eventually she left and a staff member came in to discuss insurance and treatment prices. The cost of the procedure was double the quote I was given at Oracle Modern Dentistry. It would be 450 dollars after insurance and because my gums were in "such bad shape", I would have to return and pay again every 90 days. When the office employee was done I told her I would not be having the more advanced cleaning/treatment and that I would like to have the regular cleaning that was fully covered by insurance. Her reply was "oh no! I'll have to go and discuss this with the hygienist. I don't know if she'll feel comfortable with you leaving without the proposed treatment plan ..." Thankfully she left after that. When the hygienist came back - 20 minutes later - she again expressed how I "really needed this treatment". Yet, despite this great need, I never saw anyone other than her. I repeated that I felt uncomfortable with receiving and paying for a treatment I felt was unnecessary. At that point she gave up and she proceeded with my "regular cleaning". "Regular cleaning" because it was the quickest, least precise cleaning I've ever had and her attitude towards me completely changed. I could tell she wanted me out of the office as soon as possible because a) I was wasting her time with a "regular cleaning" and/or b) she felt uncomfortable I had declined her sales pitch. Her cleaning consisted of flossing (though she missed 2 teeth) and polishing my teeth. She also "forgot" to do a fluoride treatment and only "remembered" when an employee asked if she needed any. Her response, directed at me, was "do you want fluoride? It shouldn't cost you anything ..." I left the office with the following questions: *If my gums were in such an awful state, why didn't any of this come from the actual dentist? Especially when I was declining a treatment I "really needed"? *If my gum disease had progressed so far and gradually, why did my previous, and trusted, dentist never mention it to me? *Why do my teeth (and x-rays) not resemble the more advanced stages of gum disease as depicted on the "educational" images/posters placed perfectly within my view from the exam chair? ***In conclusion, avoid this office unless you want to spend 20-30 minutes waiting in-between multiple pushy sales pitches, only to be treated like a cheap nuisance when you decline their expensive and "necessary" procedures. read more

I went here because I was having pain on a back tooth (I suffer from sensitive teeth which I informed the doctor). I don't have insurance and I was told that I needed a root canal and was given a price of $4,200 for the root canal or $1,200 for an extraction. When the doctor left the room I heard him tell the assistant "I just don't see anything on the root". At the time I didn't know if he was talking about me but to make sure I went to Dedicated Dental and after X-rays I was told that all I needed was to remove an old filling and do a new one. Easily the best dental experience that I have had in over 30 years. Dr. Roberts is a truly gifted Dentist. I came to his office with severe tooth pain. Scheduling was easy and the staff member on the phone was very friendly and there was an open appointment available that day. Dr. Roberts was very thorough in his explanation of what was going on with my teeth along with the treatment plan that I needed. From there, his staff was amazing at going over every possible financial option until we settled on an option that was very fair and affordable with a monthly payment plan. The payment was much better than I was expecting. I met with Dr. Mathews also who is very competent and I believe is a great option there as well. I was experiencing a 10/10 aching pain to my tooth and I had been putting off a dental visit for over 6 months. If I had known that everything at this office was going to be this smooth and efficient, I would not have spent those months in the pain that I was in. There was plenty of parking available and the office itself was very clean and well-maintained. Dr Roberts and his staff made me feel very comfortable and greeted me by name when I entered into the office. When the treatment was performed by Dr Roberts, I experienced hardly any discomfort at all and by the time I left the office, the months and months of tooth pain was completely gone! I have had over 10 different dentists and this is by far the most helpful and pleasant visit I have ever had. The first two visits were great! I needed a root canal and that was a joke. I was in this surgery for three hours. The doctor had other appointments going on, leaving my room often explaining the three hours. Horrible experience! I've had to go back a few times because the crown didn't sit right. Tucson spectrum dentistry has a bait and switch tactic. you send them a referral for a peridontist to tell you to come in with an appointment and then when you get there they want to give you some full mouth x-ray and charge you for it when you already have a full mouth set of X-rays from your dentist two weeks old. their excuses they can't do a diagnosis without a full mouth x-ray when all I need them to do is look at one tooth with the gumis receded and may need periodontal work. If I had been told that I need a full mouth x-ray I would not have come here because then the fee would have been more than what they quoted me on the phone and advertised. Dr. Roberts is my favorite person in the world right now. Growing up, my family could not afford regular dental visits and I only visited a dentist in Mexico if I absolutely had to. I knew I needed a lot of dental work but I was afraid to go and be judged for my horrible oral care and extensive work that could've been prevented had I gone earlier. I finally got dental insurance and built up the guts to go in for a consultation. Dr. Roberts and his staff were amazing; they never judged me for my botched up teeth and were only concerned with giving me the proper care I needed as soon as possible. He answered all of my questions thoroughly (which I love) and let me know my options and what took priority. The office is also very clean and "high tech," which made me feel very secure. I just had my root canal done today. The local anesthetic has worn off and I feel nothing. No pain, no discomfort, the crown feels and looks amazing. All done in one day. If anything, it's a little unsettling how good it feels. I'm so happy I listened to the reviews here and went to Dr. Roberts. Best dentist ever. He is very straightforward with what needs to be done and compassionate towards my fears. I've had significant work done and it's been amazing. I recently went to this dental office for a cleaning. (May 2021) I had made the appointment on at 3;30 on Thursday and then someone called and said it needed to be rescheduled to Friday. So they changed it to 3:30 on Friday. When I asked why they changed it, they said because they were going to need more time for the appointment. Then, on Friday at around 2 pm, I got a call saying that if they didn't hear from me in the next 20 minutes, my appointment was going to be cancelled. I called back right away, and they said that the hygienist wanted to make sure I was going to be there. I thought it was weird, but I really wanted to get my teeth cleaned. So I went. The person who took my x rays was very nice and even though I didn't know why I had to have so many, that was okay. Then the dental hygienist was poking my gums and saying numbers. I have never had such pain when this has happened before for me. It hurt each time she took a measurement. Then, she sat down and showed me on the x rays how my gums were receding and that I needed this laser treatment to stop the problem, and that she would do it with the deep cleaning. I never asked for a deep cleaning but I was beginning to understand why they wanted to reschedule for more time for the appointment.... they had decided I needed a deep cleaning before even seeing the x rays. Additionally, no one has suggested that for me ever. I take great care of my teeth. But whatever, then someone came in and said it was going to cost 475.00 for all the stuff the dental hygienist wanted to do. I said yes to everything except the laser treatment. I had expected to come in for a cleaning that was covered by my dental plan and here they wanted 475 dollars. But that wasn't the worst part. After agreeing to everything besides the laser (around 350.00), I sat in the dentist's chair for an hour before the lady who took my x rays came in and was surprised to still see me because I guess the dental hygienist was supposed to tell me she had to leave and reschedule the appointment, but she didn't. So basically, I still need a free cleaning and don't need to go to this place to get it done. I will be going back to my old dentist who is about 45 minutes away since I moved, because I can trust them to give me a regular cleaning and not try to upsell me on a deep cleaning that I don't need. read more

As detailed in my previous reviews we have always been happy with the service and care. We have tolerated the long waits in the office, waiting to be seen, or in between procedures. But yesterday was too much. We had an appointment at 10:00; and had received a call confirming the same. But when we checked in we were told our appointments weren't until 11:00/11:30. It appears they changed their internal scheduling, to accommodate some event, but did not let us know. We didn't wait and rescheduled.
