Out for our annual tour of the New River Gouge and fall color and dawn was just breaking in East Beckley, My friend and I were both getting hungry and decided on getting something to eat to satisfy the hunger and to kill some time for the sun to get higher into the sky. First places we tried were in Princeton at Cracker Barrel and Bob Evan's. It was 6:30am and one of the Cracker Barrel employees who was reporting to work, told us they did not open till 7am. Same with Bob Evans Drove on up toward Beckley where we had planned on leaving I-77 and going down I-64 a bit and cutting over on US19 to Hwy 41. Last trip up last year, I had eaten at Tudor's Biscuit World in Charleston and knew there as was one here so we gave it a shot. First of all, the were open a lot earlier so when we pulled in they were open. I ordered the Politician Biscuit which was Bologna, Fried Egg and Cheese on a Biscuit. Excellent choice. My friend went with the Sausage Gravy Biscuits and they were great. Portions were very large, prices very reasonable, quality of the food was great and only negative point was that the Covid restrictions did make it a bit awkward. Good restaurant and we went one exit beyond our original intended Exit on I-64 but I would put up with that aggravation again to experience that dining pleasure again. Color of the leaves as the sun came out from the Parking lot was amazing.

A great stop! Connected to a gas station so you can fill up and get some basics, too. Great biscuits, really crisp hash browns. You order up at a counter, but there are tables and even booths. High chairs are available. Servers were friendly and helped us figure out what to order to avoid allergens. We all enjoyed our meals, mostly biscuit sandwiches for a late breakfast, but the lunch menu looked good, too. Shaved ham, fried baloney, and chicken fried steak were all hits, plus the prices are great. It was cash only while we were there, but there's an ATM at the gas station a few steps away. The cheese is American cheese, so if like me that's not your favorite, skip it. The rest is all yummy and great. At the end of our meal, we didn't totally understand whether it was a bus your own table type situation or whether the servers cleared it, since it's counter service but there are also booths and some metal silverware, etc. From watching others, it looks like you can kind of go either way but be sure to tip your servers if you leave your stuff on the table. *Only drawback was a sketchy young man skulking about the parking lot for a kind of long time, but that's no fault of the nice servers here, and we felt safe. Just lock your doors and have a great meal. Hopefully he's not there often.

Such a good selection of sandwiches, salads and pizza. We got an order of onion rings to start off with. They were delicious with there house sauce. I ordered Camp Creek Club with house made chips. It was on toasted sourdough bread with a hearty helping of ham, turkey, crisp bacon, lettuce and thick slices of tomato (I opted to leave off the cheese and mayo). The Ham and Turkey were not deli meat but actual pieces of sliced ham and turkey! My husband ordered The Nate which is a fried bologna sandwich. It came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard. The sandwiches were huge and very good!. He finished half of my half and I got the other half to take home for dinner. We had to save some room for the ice cream. Half of the restaurant is the diner and the other was ice cream and cake. There was plenty of choices of both! It was good creamy ice cream. Annie, our server was wonderful and the young man at the ice cream side was so delightful. It was very clean inside and out. This was a definite good lunch stop!

If you ever find yourself drifting through Beckley and your stomach starts whispering sweet…read morenothings... make a hard left into Cheddars Gastro Pub. This place is a bit of a delightful plot twist. From the outside, you might expect the usual--but step inside and suddenly you're in a cozy little universe where the cocktails are dangerously good (and somehow still kind to your wallet), the bar feels like home base, and the food? Way more scratch-made magic than you'd ever guess. And let's talk about Amy. If hospitality were an Olympic sport, she'd have a gold medal and a signature cocktail named after her. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it--just pure, effortless excellence. Whether you're a road warrior passing through or a local in need of a reliable good time, Cheddars delivers that rare combo: great vibe, great food, zero regrets. Go hungry. Leave happy. Possibly stay for one more round than you planned.

Say to come in 5 min for pick up. Inside, no order, so I reorder again. Leave, go to car, order all wrong. Go back inside so annoyed, the Mgr is awful. Does. Not. Care. Gives me the lettuce tomat in a container, no mayo, take a packet. Doesn't care, said I am just one customer and I don't matter in the grand scheme. Horrible all around. I fed sub to my 2 dogs. What a really bad experience. Don't go to this place at all. So, so very bad! The owners need to see how these 4-6 guys operate when they are not around. If my business, all fired. Hire good people and pay them a few bucks more so they will care. Ppl go back to places when treated right. 0 stars.

Little Sicily - A Mediterranean Hug After a Long Day on the Trails…read more After hiking all day, stumbling upon Little Sicily felt like the universe handing us a tiny edible gift. Beckley surprised us once again, this spot turned out to be such a delicious treasure that we kept coming back like well-trained food pilgrims. The food was fantastic. Truly. Some of the best chicken shawarma, hummus, and tabouli I've had in ages, fresh, flavorful, and made with clear love. The kind of meal that makes your tired hiking muscles perk up and whisper, "Oh yes, this is the good life." Service was friendly, warm, and helpful with recommendations, the kind of staff who genuinely wants you to enjoy what you order. Honestly, I found myself wishing we had a place like this back home so I could grab big platters for a party and impress everyone without lifting a finger. A traveler can dream. A great little spot, comforting and delicious, exactly what you hope to find when you're hungry, tired, and ready to be fed well.

Waitress was friendly with timely service, often checking up on us . Highly recommend this restaurant- a culinary masterpiece!!
