The food was amazing and a bit unexpected given it was a small tavern. Incredible. Menu had lots of great options.

We tried Tujax based on a recommendation from a friend. Her recommendation "Do not let the outside disturb you. It is a hole in the wall with an award-winning chef." This is a perfect description...the ambiance is dated but food was fabulous! My husband ordered a burger which he described as fantastic, and I ordered one of the specials, Shrimp Pad Thai. The fries were out of this world (I snagged a few off my hubby's plate). The drinks were good as well. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and loved it and I ordered a Moscow Mule which was very good! We will definitely be back! read more

We were out and about in the area for Arts and Eats! We ate at Tujax a couple years ago, but honestly, it is a bit out of the way for us. Now, we are saying, SHOOOEE! What were we thinking?! It is SO worth the journey! Firstly, the gal behind the bar, Patty. Greeted us with a huge smile of welcome, and "glad you are here!" You know how you just WANT to be someplace from the get go?! Patty made one feel that way. After looking I g a the beers on tap, Patty assured me(as did the woman sitting next to me!) that what I REALLY wanted was her famous blueberry Moscow mule. Oh, my goodness. She was MORE than right! Cool, refreshing, and so full of blueberry goodness...mmm! Ran was happy with his Founders All Day IPA. Next, was choosing from the SEVERAL amazing menu choices. We mulled over the specials. Do you know TuJax's has an award winning chef on staff?! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I looked about the rather dated, but endearing decor. It is all part of the small town allure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - and, usually the BEST food to be found! As we pondered, the gentleman behind the counter offered to help with our selection by tossing the quarter in his pocket. I inquired as to how many sides it had?! He laughed, then told us to get the Rueben. It was the best! We were not disappointed! The corn beef was house braised to perfection. We arrived at about 7pm on a Sunday and the waitress warned us that they closed at 8pm for future reference. Was a bit confused at l as it was shortly before seven but whatever. So we felt rushed making it order. However shortly thereafter she came over and apologized she thought we l it was 8pm rather than 7. That made sense. My friend ordered a dirty martini when she was pleased with. I just ordered an iced tea. After looking at the menu we both decided in the walleye. Or food came rather quickly. The whole meal was hot and delicious. The walleye was perfectly done. The friend Rice was the highlight of the meal. It was a longrain rice with peas and carrots and and amazing seasoning . As a side it has shorting vegetables including squash, carrots and turnips. The whole meal was tasty. The waitress was friendly, chucked on us often but not to much. No room for dessert although they sounded amazing. I suggest if you are looking for a road trip you venture out to Delton that you try this little bar with the amazing high end food. This is the place to go for elevated bar food! In a time when restaurants are moving toward pre-made ingredients, Tujax is making their own bread, smoking their own meat, and cutting their own fries, and you can taste the difference. Awful, I got the brisket and fried rice. The rice was alright. Not great but not awful. The brisket on the other hand was terrible. There was no meat. It was all fat. Fat fat fat. Awful. I will never eat here again. It was horrible. read more

Staying in Delton for the week and didn't feel like cooking, so popped into Tujax. The food was delicious so believe the reviews! We had salads with homemade ranch dressing and homemade croutons, and the blue gill with fries and the potato salad. Everything is fresh and good. We saw an ad for this place and went for dinner on a whim. We had passed by many times and never, ever considered going in: mistake! Sure, they have a typical "bar food" menu - burgers, sandwiches, fried food, pizza - all of which looked good, but the special menu was the star. Good mussels are hard to find in Michigan, but their PEIs were great, very meaty and tender. The white wine broth was good, although a bit salty, but the (homemade) bread served with it was excellent. We also ordered the shrimp and scallop cakes, which were good, but a bit overwhelmed by the salsa served with them. Both of us ordered the walleye, lightly breaded and pan fried. It was a little dry, but tasted fresh, and I loved the tartar sauce, which I'm sure was homemade. The accompanying rice pilaf was very nice, and the side vegie mix was wonderful! What a treat to find a bar chef who knows how to slice and cook vegies. We will be back to this unique place, which attracts all kinds. Don't be turned off by the building. Staff is super friendly and makes you feel like a local. Friday and Saturday nights menu usually has Walleye on it which is amazing. Pizzas and Burgers are good. The cook/chef has come out a couple times that we have been here to see how w liked the food. Looks like a dive bar but give it a try, you will likely be surprised! Wish they would experiment with some other fish items like blue gill, grouper, salmon, etc. betting the chef could create another great option. read more

We called to ask about the brisket. Was it fatty and was told no so that was ordered for me. My friend got another item that was good. The brisket was perhaps 50-75% fat. Very little edible meat. I have had plenty of lean brisket in Colorado that was incredibly tasty. The Tujax brisket was not worth buying. The next morning I was able to get more meat from the rejected portions to give a little to the dogs. Only counting this meat for the dogs would I allow the fat percentage to drop to 50%. read more

This place has an excellent chef Tues-Sat! Go in-person. The only reason for three stars is twice this week I wanted a delicious pizza from Tujax. I called 8 times over an hour from 5-6 PM from two different phones, and let it ring over 15 times. Noone answered. I tried to order online and their FB/website doesn't seem to take orders. It was Saturday the first time, so I wrote it off to a busy night and got pizza elsewhere. Then Monday I tried the phone again, SO MANY TIMES. No answer. My hunger was more powerful than my photography and I have no pictures but let's see if I can come up with a thousand words. I came here expecting a decent meal off of a couple recommendations. What I got was an amazing meal! I had a handcrafted burger with swiss, cheddar, and bacon. You could taste the care that went into it absolutely amazing. One could easily compare it with 5 Guys. With my burger I chose the side of house made chips also delicious. For an appetizer I went with the mini corn dogs and was not disappointed. Tujax has amazing food I come here every time I'm in Delton. The food is fresh (lettuce, cheese, French fries etc.) and the portions are huuge. Also if you love ranch please please try theirs it's to die for. Never disappoints!!!! read more

Best hamburger I've eaten!! Don't judge the book by it cover, it doesn't look like much but the food is gourmet.

My own biases have kept me away from Tujax for far too long. This place is a hidden gem and if it were anywhere else...Say the west side of GR or the gentrified part of either GR or Kzoo...It would be crawling with hipsters trying to establish their street-cred. The food is NOT bar food...This is food made by someone who has a passion for what they do...The Tempura Walleye was absolutely worth twice the price and the appetizers were all great...The Artichoke Dip has just the perfect amount of heat to it. And I've searched this entire state for someone that can make creme brulee and not have it taste like a propane torch...This chef pulled it off... Easily one of the best I've ever had...Creme brulee is something most don't understand....But I just wanna take a nap with this one. They also bake their own bread and cookies fresh daily...And you can get them to go off the Baker's rack...It's a nice way to bring this beautiful place home with you...It's almost like the owners found every way they could to make this place perfect in ways you didn't know were possible The place feels like the perfect Blue Collar Dive bar out of any Midwestern town in a movie and it feels that way because it is perfect...In every way...The food...The juke box...The waitress...The chef in the back that is proud as hell of the food he makes for you...The neon signs....The tiny little town just outside the door full of Salt of The Earth Kind of people Just go, embrace the beauty of something that hipsters and wannabe foodies haven't found yet. Hey! Stop right here, this is the place. This food rocks... a real chef in a dive bar - they should sell franchises for this idea. Small town place, everyone is more than friendly, great wait service and did I mention the outstanding bar fare and more... They smoke their own meats, the salads are so good and the pretzel buns are outstanding. Couple all of the above with small town prices and you can't beat this place. Stopped in on a recent Saturday evening around 6:30 - busy but still plenty of seating and waited on immediately by a friendly, great waitress - ? Kim. I had the awesome Olive burger with homemade chips and my hubby had the Tempura battered walleye - said it was the best he ever had!
