Just stopped in to this fabulous restaurant while out on the road and pulled in on whim. I didn't realize it was 20 minutes until closing. I apologized and got up to leave and the amazing staff basically parked me in my seat and told me it was perfectly fine. It's rare to get awesome service like that anymore. My only suggestions for them: 1) Use fresh mushrooms instead of canned for your veggie omelette; 2) Additionally offer half and half for coffee instead of just the fake stuff. Don't get me wrong the food was okay I would give it 3/5, nothing special but not awful. However, our waitress was extremely rude to us and the overall service was poor. First of all, you walk up to pay and she CHARGED ME THE WRONG AMOUNT! Second, there was political and religious affiliation to the restaurant that made me uncomfortable and the atmosphere felt judgmental and prejudice. It is 2024 and I feel unwelcome in a restaurant because of my character, what are we doing people!!?? Finally, I didn't even receive my full meal and had to request my side of toast after checkout. Julianna's is such a wonderful place! The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is warm and friendly. Their food is to die for; you will not find a better pancake than their carrot cake pancake in the whole city of Kalamazoo, no exaggeration! They also support the local community through fundraising. Nice place, cute and clean inside, service is fine, nothing special. He a tater tot skillet, chorizo is medium spicy, eggs are cooked nice. The reason I will never come here again, is they charged me a 3% credit card fee, and it's their right to do so, but put up a sign there is a fee, put up a we offer a cash discount sign, don't just slip it in on the bill, unfortunately, I did take it out of the servers tip. It's a cost of doing business, I did not notice the restaurant was less expensive because they charge for a credit card, I will just eat elsewhere. read more

For my $17 order I received a crappy Costco frozen burger patty, stale bun, ELEVEN French fries, a small bag of burnt house made chips and very small drink. I could have let all that go, I spent my entire adult life in the military eating crappy food, but the straw that broke the camel's back was literally a straw. A PAPER F'n straw? Are you kidding me?!? This isn't the communist republic of California. The rest of the packaging was styrofoam, giant styrofoam box for the burger, styrofoam cup, plastic lid, but a damn paper straw? The one piece I'm putting in my mouth is going to stick to my lips because some damn idiot thinks they're saving the environment by switching to paper F'n straws. If you want to save the environment, get rid of the styrofoam shit too, and maybe don't give me a grocery bag in addition. Horrible value, shitty food, hypocrisy in packaging, and they forgot my drink to boot. One star, D- rating. Going to try eating inside one of these days, breakfast looks good. Went to Julianna's for the first quite a bit ago. So I'm very late writing this review. But never too late giving them a congratulations on thirty years of excellent service and food! I had heard about this restaurant because of a thirty cent meal deal. To commemorate thirty years of being in business! Two eggs made your way with toast and jam. It was a deal that was so good, that we ended up getting two to three of them every day that week. The best part, was the fact that we could add on bacon for the regular fee. The food which was so good, we ended up coming back even after the deal was over. Regularly it's only $2.75 for eggs, toast, and coffee! We've made Julianna's one of our stops for breakfast. Even cuter is a little car right in front of the business! I wish them well and again congratulations on 30 years we'll be back in the a.m! read more

Nice little diner. I did enjoy my food. It was a regular casserole dish. The waitress was nice but she had no idea why the menu had blue highlights on certain food. So we had to assume it was because maybe it was "specials" or "favorites". So I was already irritated she is waiting on us and doesn't know the menu. We asked for only one pancake and got charged for a full order (6.99$). The waitress didn't even inform us of that. I just felt like the staff isn't very experienced or just plain oblivious. Then I asked if what I was ordering was good or what she thought of it and she neveR even had it before. Just know that is a pet peeve for me. This place charges to use a credit/debit card. Breakfast this morning was nothing special. My husband had biscuits and gravy and eggs. The eggs were very crispy and hard to cut. Clearly the grill was too hot. The biscuit was large, as advertised, and also very dry. He didn't finish it. The gravy was not particularly flavorful. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Eggs were supposed to be sunny side up, but we're over easy. The rest was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. Our server did not identify herself. She did an okay job. The one reason I guarantee I won't be back again was that Fox "News" was playing on two TVs. When you choose to advertise your politics you make some people happy, but you also guarantee others will be unhappy. Their choice made it easy to make our choice. read more

Julianna's is a cheap greasy spoon with great lunch specials, with quintessential middle-American comfort food. I've been here for three lunches. The first time I visited I ordered their homemade Chicken Pot Pie. I was really impressed. It was screaming hot, enormous, made fresh from scratch that day, and had a classic flavor. Second visit: burger. Nothing to write home about. Today's visit: Meat Loaf with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. Win. It had a sweet, barbecue-y flavor. Tastes like home. My advice (if you're there for lunch): skip the regular menu, and look for the daily specials page. Pick the most down-home-sounding thing on the list. This is a great place for breakfast or a quick lunch. I was there on a Sunday at 10:30am with a group of 10. There was no wait, which I appreciated since most breakfast places in my town would be packed by that time. Our server was so nice and polite and kept our coffee pot full the entire meal. Most of the party ordered the special, which was eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. They also have a special every day that's $2.25. Can't beat that price! I ordered the Julianna potato casserole, which is hashbrowns smothered in hollandaise sauce with cheddar cheese, ham, bacon, tomatoes, green peppers, & onion. It was very good. I would most definitely order it again! My boyfriend had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant, which was also very good. The ham was thick cut, not just deli style lunchmeat. The atmosphere is cozy, like a coney restaurant or diner. The tables are close together and the place isn't huge, but I didn't mind. There's a fireplace that makes it feel homey. First of all the waitress with brown hair was rude, then when my friend got her food there was a lot of hair in it, they made her new food... gets worse then they gave her a bill for the full amount ! So instead of my friend going off on the manger and using foul language I went politely and spoke with the manger explaining to her the waitress was rude and my friend shouldn't have to pay her bill..... So days later I checked my bank statement noticed I was overcharged, so I called and the manager would be in a later and would call me. I spoke with the waitress first and she said she could refund me then the manager who I also believe is the owner got on the phone extremely rude and asks you were overcharged? I told her I believe so and also the service was awful and rude service ... she says cutting me off " don't even go there your friend didn't have the audacity to come and complain for herself " Mind you she was raising her voice & Hung Up The Phone On Me ! and I didn't to get explain that I was trying to be nice so my friend wouldn't go off on her... I tried to call back but I was hung up on twice ! So I called back blocked my number said " very rude to hang up on me and didn't let me explain my side" she says " what's there to explain " I stated my friend would have went off and I was trying to be nice and she shouldn't have hung up on ... she states "well should I have said goodbye " well yeah! Always look for fake reviews and take them into account. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The location is surrounded by industrial truck type businesses so I was expecting a greasy spoon with gum chewing nasty aproned waitresses and country ditties twanging over the speakers. Not here! They seem to cater to business types and elderly locals. The music was contemporary soft rock playing as I entered a nicely decorated dining room with clean comfortable upholstered booths. Clean carpeting covered the floors and the lighting was lowered to provide a nice dining experience. The noise level was low too. The menu items are creative and delicious but not to the point of being "what on earth did I just eat" but much better than the places I usually have to eat. Their grilled chicken sandwich special sounded great but I arrived too early to order it. I wish I was through here more often. Its definitely a keeper. read more

This place has a cozy atmosphere with the fire place and close tables. The restaurant was super quiet. It's a seat yourself style. So I was suprised to see only one waitress. The waitress came over a total of three times to our table. Once to get our order, once to give us our food and a third time to give us our bill. She was sweet and polite, but definitely focused on the customers she knew. My fiancé got the black and blue burger. The burger was very big and juicy, but the onions and blue cheese over powered any seasoning on the meat. The burger surpassed the bun. Overall a suprisingly good burger. I got the country fried steak topped in sausage gravy with eggs and hash browns. The country fried steak was super thin steak covered in a thick layer of batter and swimming in gravy. The eggs were super oily and the hashbrowns were tastless. I had to add tons of pepper and salt to taste anything on my plate. One good thing was that if you order coffee they leave you an entire pot of coffee at your table for 1.99. This place seems to be big for the senior citizens in our town.
