Great selection no matter what location you visit. Nice to find things that you can use or repurpose without buying new!

I used to go here all the time, but lately each visit leaves me more and more disappointed. They are trippin on their prices! They had jars that are currently available at Dollar Tree marked for $4.99 a piece. Lots of clothes from retailers like Old Navy, used, priced more than you can get new. Lots of items with holes, stains, or just really worn, still asking $12.99+. I miss thrift stores when they felt like a fun treasure hunt for a great bargain. Also, no fitting rooms and no public bathrooms. I will say the staff, with the exception of some newer, younger gals, is nice and very helpful. I do find it comical when the security guard just shakes his head and watches as someone walks out with unpaid merchandise. read more

There are not any dressing/fitting rooms at this location, which makes it a bit inconvenient if you aren't sure on sizing of clothing items. There are not enough mirrors throughout the store to use to help decide whether or not a clothing item will fit either. I came across a mirror to use to sort through the items I had collected in my cart, and I felt in the way since other people were also looking to do the same thing. When I was checking out, I also did not get a receipt printed or emailed me to me since I had signed up for the savers club, so that was a bummer especially if I wanted to return or exchange any of my purchases. read more

I highly doubt I'll be returning to this particular location. There were 6 check stands, 4 are for card payments only, 2 are for cash and card payments and 2 for actual human cashiers. I'm not sure why but all 4 card registers were open, 1 cash/card registers and no cashier's...there was 4 of us waiting for more than 5 minutes because we only had cash. Disappointing to say the least. read more

I found a USED IKEA bathroom rug at this Goodwill that charged me $9.96 and later found out it is only 9.99 NEW at IKEA! What the hell! They overprice many of their items I noticed after that incident. I'm quite disappointed. See attached. Same size too. Screw them. read more

I walked in the back to donate some gold clubs looking for a coupon a very skinny tall older white lady with glasses who woked there came out telling me to get out! I told her I just wanted a cupon for my donation. SHE THEN PICKED THE GOLF CLUBS UP like she wanted to hit me with them because I was in her AREA. she called the cops to come and remove ME. It must have been towards the end of a shift. I was scared I was gonna get hit with the Golf clubs I was trying to donate! They still took the clubs But refused to let me shop because I walked in the back for a coupon. No one was out there?! read more

I buy most of my work shirts there, because I can switch it up more often with all the bargains I'm getting. I've found some really good finds, from Columbia coats to family board games and everything in between. I donate and give back, and support them with my thrift shop habit. read more

There was a vintage wine dripper thingee there that I felt so smart about when telling Mimi what it was for. "Well see, the glass holds the wine, and then you wiggle the toggle and the wine drips out done here." Oh yeah, I'm worldly. Didn't buy that though, I mean c'mon! Where does one store sumthin like that inbetween French/Italian wine parties? Honestly, where? I did pick up two pictures to use the frames for 8x10s of the child's formidable years (1st and 2nd grade), a GIANT Fantastic Four coloring book (with all its pages and no marks anywhere), and big wide shallow plastic bowl with a bitchin' fruit pattern. Too bad I dropped a giant sauce pan on it at home. Now its my cracked bitchin' fruit bowl. read more

Yelpers got it right- this may be one of the best Value Villages in the South Sound. My mom dragged me into the store today so she could find a platter for a cake she is making. She paid less for an actual ceramic platter than she would for any plastic jobby. I perused the glass wares and then made my way to the book section. I picked up a Silver Palate cookbook for $2! Score! In fact, all paperbacks are $2, hardbacks are $3, and if you buy four you get the fifth free. The selection is impressive and carries several current titles. There are some tubs of vinyl. I did not do any digging, but might next time. It is a busy and the merchandise seems to be just a cut above other like-minded stores. Plus it did not have that all-too-familar aroma which tends to permeate everything in the store. There is also surplus items for sale at the front of the store (sheets, towels, super plush blankets- all new!). I am tempted to go hang out there for a day just to write some stories on the characters coming through this joint. Speaking of which, I think our cashier just got done doing some wacky tabaccy. She was completely dead pan the entire time a lady was asking her where the 'whites' were- in reality she was asking about 'weights.' I know- she was totally a hooker. Awesome. read more

This place smells like a thrift store. I dont know what the issue is about these second hand places smelling like this but they stink! This place is easily a down fall from the other one across the town in Tuwila. The positive thing is when Im driving my mom around we spend every other Monday together for the day. And this is one of the places she likes to go. Mondays are when the colors change and that special color is discounted even cheaper than before. So we go here and find things to purchase for our relatives in the Philippines. I like thrift stores because you can find great prices and many times youll find something thats never been used. But they need to find a way so that their clothes dont stink and some how brighten the place up like the other in Tukwila. read more

Finding clothes is hit and miss in here, like all thrift/second hand stores, but there's a lot in here to pick from. And it's cheaper then other thrift stores in the area I've been to, which is always a plus in my book. The place is huge and brightly lit, with lots of room to move between the aisles to pick things out. And the dressing rooms are CLEAN which is a big deal. I got Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic for about $4 each so I'm not complaining! I will be back to rummage in the future as my wardrobe demands! read more

I have been going to this Value Village [or "ViVi" as my mother would affectionately refer to its code name] since I was about 7-years-old. For me, there's no better thrill than to hit up a thrift store on a Saturday morning, latte in hand, and see what kinds of treasures I can dig up. This Value Village is reasonably-priced and you're almost always guaranteed to find a lot of good stuff here. [I used to buy a lot of mens collared shirts here in High School. I think I remember finding a nice coat here, too.] Heck, my dad still swings by this location on occasion to casually peruse the vinyl records section. Love the holiday sales -- but come early!! There can be swarms of local ladies who are ViVi regulars, so their carts are sure to block the aisles, stacked with mounds of heavily discounted clothes. read more

I've stopped my weekly trek to Value Village because I was starting to accumulate more than I was getting rid of and goodness knows I need to start downsizing/cleaning up. It was like being with someone so long that you need some time apart to start to miss them. So I took some time so let myself miss it. It's been about a month now. My last visit I picked up a pair of black Columbia snow pants for $10 as well as snow pants and jackets for myself and my son for our tubing expedition that weekend. Pretty good haul by any standard. This time I made the ultimate score: a pair of made in the USA tan cowboy boots size 6.5 for $12.99. Can I get a 'whut-whut!' It wasn't until I started walking around with them (at that point still unsure about whether I wanted to finalize the purchase) that I got a sense of the value of my find. A couple of hipsters were eyeing them in my hand. My sister proclaimed her jealousy. Some random stranger regaled us of his recent expedition to the Goodwill where he picked up a pair of engineer boots for $15, and topped off his story with the fact that he never buys ordinary flannels these days because he always finds Pendletons. And the final confirmation--the cashier's envy as she muttered her congratulations of my find. President's day sale on Monday. I'm so there. I think I'll wear my new-to-me cowboy boots just for the occasion. read more

Customers now have to bag their items while cashiers stand around and watch. Also, you can't take your shopping cart to your car to unload your items, leaving valuables to be stolen while you load belongings. Goodwill is just a few mikes away. Much more customer oriented. read more

With most thrift stores, it's a long hunt, sometimes fruitless and sometimes amazing. My best and quickest finds for this location have been for dresses and shoes, especially for my short frame and big feet. It's like this store knows I'm a hobbit. I have a pretty good routine when looking through used and consignment items: buttons, pits, zippers, soles, etc, I check all the places where it gets worn the most and I only buy brand names in really good or brand new condition which I've been able to find here. In the past month I've been able to pick up brand new Wolford tights for $5 (regularly priced $85), Vince Camuto wedge heels for $7.50 (normally priced $115) and a Jessica Simpson dress normally priced at $85. But sometimes I leave empty handed because it looks like unloaded a dead grandmother's wardrobe onto the racks. I've been to this store more than others and I wish they would combine all the dresses in one long rack like other stores instead of separating the summer/sleeveless dresses out. It doesn't make sense. Also, if there's a tag sale going on, it's only advertised at the front cashier, instead of around the store like they used to. read more

Today I was in line with my purchases and the cashier, a thirty-something disgruntled guy dressed in all black and sportin' a pig-shave, all of a sudden says he's closing the line and slaps the closed sign down on his register, even though there's like 5 of us in line still. I told him that he's got to be kidding, that's BS. He says we'll have to go to the ONE open line that had 6 people in it already. Freakin' pissed me off. I told the other cashier about it, and she said he does that all the time. What a jerk. She had to come back off her lunch to help check out because the guy closed his lane on all of us. They should let this guy know that this is unacceptable. Checkout took over 25 minutes. BS. I was informed by the sweet young girl that it is better to shop on Thursdays when they choose a discount color tag. Downside: Discount color choice is random and determined by the sorting folks, and you won't find out until Thursday when you either call or come in. Prices run high on average compared to the other thrift stores in the southend. I found many items with original store tags that were less than what VV tagged it for. I looked at and chose not to purchase 12 items because of pricing being too high. I'll stick with Goodwill. They have better service, better selection, and a discount tag process you can count on and is published in their newsletter located at each register. It's not a mystery. I won't be back to this VV. And I'll be sending my donations to Gooodwill from here on out. read more

A freak for thrift shops, I come here a couple of times a month. I'm typically pleasantly surprised with the selection of decent stuff/brands--clothes, housewares, books and whatnot. Everything is somewhat organized. Plenty of parking. Wouldn't say they have much in the way of furniture though. There are some things that really seem overpriced--like activewear, fake designer handbags, and anything with an original tag attached. But there are still deals to be had and it's still a great place to check out and I will keep going back. Some minor downsides--I find the store to be a little dark. The dressing rooms are now kept on lockdown and you sometimes have to hunt for someone to let you take your no-more-than-six-items in. And as with any thrift shop, bring hand sanitizer. read more

This value village is fairly well organized. No complaints from me and I come here a lot.

This is probably the worst chain in thrift stores. To begin, they have some of the highest uppriced used items anywhere. Compared to Good Will and others they are expensive. My number one complaint is their RETURN POLICY. While most thrift stores will offer store credit with receipt, this one according to the manager who goes by JC, DOES NOT. Instead they commit the consumer to lug around the defective wrong item to use as barter. This is NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT, but ridiculous. What if a customer buys 10 or more clothing items that do not fit? By policy, they must truck that wardrobe back and forth until they find items that do. Change the policy or lose business!!!! read more

Overpriced, smells funky, always screaming children running into you without an apology. Some days they have a good selection, some days I can't find anything. I was in there and bought a ton of toys for my kids. Most of the things I got there were great scores however I did get 1 bag of what I thought were Barbie clothes but nothing fit the barbies and a ken doll that had a cloak that was hiding his almost severed neck. I went in the next morning go exchange return with a bunch of other toys I was going to purchase. The pleasant cashier remembered me but the acting manager would not allow me to return $6 in merchandise to satisfy a customer. I didn't buy the great finds out of principal and left the store. They lost a customer for life. But good for you for holding your policy because I didn't have my receipt. read more

THANK YOU BABY JESUS! Yes, you read that right. I'm thanking, specifically-the BABY jesus. Why? Well, I am about 6 months pregnant and you know what isn't super fun? Shopping for clothes. When you have gained weight, have swollen feet, a belly past your toes, stretchy/itchy skin and have to pee three times an hour-the last thing you want to do is try on clothes. From my experiences here at the Burien VV, I'm pretty positive that the baby jesus has my back. And belly. Thanks BJ! Shopping while pregnant sucks. It's a) a reminder that you're getting HUGE b) not comfortable. Luckily, I have found a MECCA of insanely fabulous, very pretty and wonderfully well kept maternity clothing at this particular VV. I tend to cheat now on the Capitol Hill location with the Burien store because frankly, I'm not a spinner. I do not have the need for hipster stuff right now. My taste has fallen prey to comfortable meets classy. Think billowing soft cotten tee's, long cardigans and skinny maternity jeans. In size L or Larger! And whoever donated those brand spanking new Columbia cross training tennis shoes-gracias! My wide feet that swell up to look like they actually belong to a middle aged Italian man with gout-couldn't thank you enough! I'm not going to go to a Maternity store and spend $30 on a shirt I'll be more than tail waggingly happy to burn once this baby boy gets out of my belly. So, in knowing my excitement to shed these pre-natal ensembels ASAP i'm more than glad to thrift shop but maintain a fabulous wardrobe all while saving uber amounts of mulah. OH and I got a total steal on a wooden changing table! It was $14 bucks. I'm sanding it down and lightly refinishing it, not a whole lot of work to be done because it's in great condition but I need it to be a different color so that it matches as our little guy gets older. I like to shop for housewares and have found that, for the most part, this Value Village is great. Yes, there are times I find absolutely nothing but that's the risk you take shopping at a thrift store. Bakeware, dinnerware, and small appliances seem to have gone up around the board but VV still has some of the best prices. Goodwill has particularly upped prices on vintage housewares which I think is a result of cherry picking items for shopgoodwill.com. I got a working iHome portable speaker system for my iPod the other day for $10. The other great thing about VV is the stamp card. I wish GW would do this. The cashiers are consistently good at stamping your card even if you are not quite to $5. So, even if you get something not on a tag sale you are still working toward a future discount. This location is definitely better than the new Tukwila store which seems to be constantly bare. I'm sticking to this Burien one. read more

I love a good thrift store and this one is a good one. There is plenty of stuff to rummage through and its clean for the most part. Things are always changing and I can usually find something that I want. The wait at the register always seems longer than it should, but that is probably just me. I have found that the cashiers could use a little "nice" pill now and then. I understand that this isn't your glamour job, but it is a job and if we stop coming in and buying things, you will be out in the hand out line with so many others. I am not sure why customer service seems to have dropped off the training list, but these guys generally aren't very personable. Other than that, happy thrifting! read more

This place sucks so much it makes me angry that these people are so rude to the customers several times i have been there and when you ask a worker a question they turn their head like they are waiting for someone else to come answer for them. The big white girl as the casheir has the most biggest problem she sucks fire her. If you want real good service go the another period , the people here are at they worst . All of them act like they do not get paid like it some prison work program for them. They do not care about the customer. read more

They have a great selection of clothes there, many good brands and they often still have new tags on them however, their prices are HORRIBLE and their "sales" are not clearly marked. They often charge close to retail price for items to the point where it's comical. I have heard several people comment on their prices while shopping there. In my opinion Goodwill has a comparable selection and their prices are about half of what Value Village charges. A tank top at Goodwill averages $2.99 while the same tank would be $4.99 or more at Value Village. Another gripe I have with them is that I've almost always had to wait at least 5 minutes in line while several employees are standing around talking and sorting clothes. Thumbs down on their customer service, they are definitely not in a hurry to get you out of there! I'd say that Burien has many other second-hand stores that offer better prices and most of them help charities and the community while Value Village is just making someone rich. read more
