    Post surgery recovery

We had a pet emergency and I called them because I had taken my other cat there in the past but never this particular cat. They were able to see him right away, started the blood tests etc and got him into surgery the next morning and now he is well on his way to recovery. I'm very grateful for the staff at Caldwell Pet Hospital! When you have a pet emergency it makes such a difference when you have a place to turn to for help when you need it most.

We love it here! The staff is super friendly. They call and text for appointment reminders, which is really helpful. Also, very clean and affordable!

Invoice for proof of refund, time stamped. We arrived at 2:50 pm, we were refunded by 3:41 pm.

I had an appt for 7/13/22 for my new pup to have a wellness check We knew she wasn't due for vaccines for 2 weeks, but us being new pup parents we wanted to make sure she was healthy. Which I told the rep on the phone when I made the appt. When we arrived we were not greeted, it took 15min to sign in There were 2 recep. & the place did not seem busy. We walked to the counter, & couldn't even say hi, the receptionist says "so our puppy package is $200" I told her thank you, here's her shot record We are just here for a wellness check. She said we could have a seat, & we would be called shortly. Soon a male comes out & calls our pup's name, we stand up ready to go. He reaches out for our pup & says I'll take her. I was confused I thought I'd go in with her. But I agreed. Being reassured I would be able to go back with her in a min. Not even 2 min. pass & a female comes out telling us that "unfortunately her vaccines were too far apart & she would need to start ALL of them over." This made no sense, she's 12 weeks old. She's only missing 2 shots. We reluctantly agreed to the puppy package. My partner then asked for our dog back, & she laughed at us & walked away. We decided to get up & pay. We could hear our pup crying. It took 10 minutes to get up to pay. Before we pay we ask for our dog again, the recep. Calls the back & says "pup's owners are all payed up, you can bring her out now." We realized our dog was being held hostage for a checkup. Once she ran my card & handed me my invoice, we still had not received our pup, & the invoice wasn't even for us! We told her to cancel everything, we would not be doing business with them. My partner had to go knock on the vet door & open it to ask for our pup back. Only to see, our not fully vaccinated pup in a kennel surrounded by other pets that could be sick! The recep. Said she couldnt refund so The manager was called to issue a refund, which she did. We walked out shaking with our pup crying. We didn't even get her weight. If a puppy is being kept indoors by her family, and unable to socialize with other dogs. Or even step foot outside because it's parvo season, and she still needs 2 more shots. She should not be put into a kennel next too other dogs. Also maybe be polite to your patients and their families. Greeting with a smile will get you very far. Even if you don't say hi to me, say hi to my pet. Make it comfortable for them. They already panic coming here. Your receptionist having resting B-faces, and disgusting attitudes make it so much worse. The name I was given was Tina, and well I've read quite a few reviews about "Tina" at this point. Maybe, just maybe, retraining is necessary. And definitely, don't laugh in a persons face when they ask for their dog back. Bad bedside manner and horrible attitudes aside. It would seem they're trying to move so fast they are skipping Vital sanitation steps. Not paying enough attention to the the animals they're servicing. Humans invest so much into their pets, they're family. For a vet to treat them as a transaction when trusting you to care for them, Plus the wrong info. My pup had her shots at 7 & 11 weeks. So she wouldn't need to restart at 12. She also didn't just say she had to restart just the DA2PP. She said the deworm, the flea, and coccidia. But those were all completed. Something about that training is wrong.

    Tuby recovering from her surgery.

I called to ask about spaying a kitten. 1. They won't do it till 6 months old and 2. It's $380 which is insane.

We placed our complete trust in Dr. Peterson and her incredible team, and they did not disappoint. They saved our Kirby, and we will be forever grateful. Throughout the entire experience, they showed compassion, transparency, professionalism, and genuine concern--not only for Kirby but for our family as well. They kept us informed every step of the way, giving us peace of mind during one of the most stressful moments we've experienced. Thank you, Dr. Peterson and your amazing team, for giving our sweet boy a second chance. Your kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.

This was quite possibly the worst, most disappointing experience I have ever had. We took our long…read morehaired dachshund in because she was consistently pooping blood. We were told there would be a wait, which was expected as it is a first priority based place. What was not expected was to be told either pay $165 to wait for hours in a room and then pay an additional $2000 for bloodwork, X-rays, etc. or to just pay the $2000 up front to "skip the line". No vet looked at her, there was no exam, there was not even an idea of what could be causing this or what they would be testing for. After discussing with my husband, we thought we would try to keep her comfortable at home until our vet opened in the morning. We were home for an hour and then our dog began throwing up blood as well as pooping it. I decided to take her back because I was so worried she was getting dehydrated. Her gums were looking pale at this point and the diarrhea and vomit was constant. I took her back in and paid the $165 for the room. They knew why I was there because I had already come in. They had me wait two hours before anyone came in. At this point, my dog had been having bloody diarrhea and bloody vomit for 8 hours NONSTOP. I had to go to the receptionist and ask for dog pads because my dog was getting blood all over myself and all over their floors. I also went to the receptionist after two hours had past and asked if anyone was coming to see my dog. She seemed surprised no one had yet. She went to the back room to ask and that's when I got really upset. Their walls are thin and I heard every word and someone back there had the audacity to say, "Well if she hadn't left we would have seen her already!" This made me extremely upset. I was already heartbroken that I could do nothing for my dog and feeling helpless and sobbing and to hear that was like a slap in the face. So when the vet tech came into the room I was really upset after he told me that two hours later all they would do is the $2000 blood work. I asked if they could get her fluids, anti nausea, ANYTHING TO MAKE HER COMFORTABLE while we were waiting. He refused and repeated what I heard through the walls. That it was my fault I didn't stay earlier. I was even told that I would have to leave her overnight...the place closed at 7 am and it was already 3:30 am at this point. By the time they did all of this testing and got me results and a treatment plan, I could have taken her into her vet that opened at 7:00 am and that's exactly what I did. And that's when I made the decision that I would rather have my dog of 7 years die in my arms at home then give one cent to these people. I got ahold of her amazing vet and they got her in right away, knew immediately that she had HGE based on her symptoms and giving her a BASIC physical examination, and started treating her immediately. I paid $2,800 for EVERYTHING: bloodwork, xray, medications, treatment, hospitalization for three days, etc. When I was being asked to pay $2000 up front at this place with no ideas of what it could be and refusal to start anything that could possibly make her feel any better. My problem was not the wait. Or the order of priority. My problem is that they will not do anything to help your dog when it is clearly in distress and dying without intervention. Fluids are a BASIC essential to vomiting to help with dehydration. So is an anti nausea. Anything to stop the vomiting or diarrhea and then they could have ran every test in the world. On top of that, I was basically shamed into trying to make the best decision for the dog that I love and consider family. I'm so disturbed by this place and how they so clearly prey on vulnerable people in the Central Valley who have no where else to go in an emergency. I will never go here again and I hope you read the reviews on here and make the same decision.
