I've only had my nails done a handful of times but this is the best acrylic set I've ever had. Tammi started my nails by gluing the nail down and then I got moved to Van, and she did a great job! Every step of the nail process she made sure none of the material was stuck to my skin, which for me leads to lifting, so I am very hopefully that they will last for a long time. Very satisfied. 1.Reservations mean nothing here. Yes they put me in a chair with 1" of non moving water but they ignored me for 20 minutes. When I got there everyone was working on new mail projects. 2. The massage chair I was held captive in was broken and the massage blade was poking in my back. 3. When I got up to leave they took notice. They don't do a really good job. I had an appointment at 12 didn't get seen til after 12:30 They cut one of my cuticles so I was bleeding and also start the gel polish a little further from the cuticle than I prefer. They also did my mom's nails and left them super thick. She didn't like it at all. They cut her nails shorter than she asked and when my mom told her it's to shirt she said "I know" proceeded to cut them and said she'll fix it with the powder. Ended up here when both I-nail and My Angel Nail told me to come back the next day/in couple hrs...can't believed it happened to me on a Thursday afternoon, no wonder I should have called ahead to check or make an appointment for next time. When I first arrived, I was greeted and asked what I wanted done, told them full set and they told me to pick a color. A few seconds later Nancy came up to me and told me to sit down, after that Nancy took her sweet ass time getting ready, I don't know what she was doing maybe getting the supplies ready for me, but it seemed like she was in the back forever and afterwards she was moving super slow. Nancy couldn't really speak or understand English, because when she asked me what I wanted I couldn't understand her, I wanted Gel manicure and a pedicure and she couldn't understand, I couldn't make out what she was saying and afterwords she told me to head on to the chair for the pedicure. Nancy did my manicure, she asked me how I wanted my nails cut and I accidentally said round, what I meant to say was the opposite I guess it's curved in...? anyway I'm a nail virgin so that was my fault on that part, overall the part that Nancy messed up on was how she painted my nails, she suggested 3 coats when really 2 coats wouldn't have made both my thumbs all bluky looking, she also missed the corners and didn't clean up my nails. Top it off when I paid, she wanted me to go to the ATM across the street since I had Wellsfargo, but I declined and asked why and she made an excuse that the machine was kinda broken. I can't say I blame her for tryna get cash bcuz I know that nail shops overwork their employees and they don't get paid a lot. My pedicure was done by another woman sweet and little words in her of course you all know why. What I liked about her was how when she made a mistake which I didn't catch until after she caught it herself, she cleaned it up and re-did it and I for one appreciate it so much. She did an amazing job and I should have tipped her more than Nancy but I felt Nancy did try and she was nice so I decided to tip them the same. All in all I won't try this place again. read more

I could never see myself with acrylics until I went to Tulips. I was hesitant at first until I found this design that I was confident in and I decided to just go with it. I am truly disappointed. I usually get my eyebrows waxed here but wanted to try getting a gel pedicure. No problems with waxing of my eyebrows. My gel pedicure started out ok. The nail tech didn't give me a warm towel or feet massage. She massaged my feet after my polish was on and I only because I asked. Throughout my pedicure she was busy speaking in vietnamese to her coworkers. The main issue that I have with Tulip Nails is when my gel polish was applied I noticed my big toe was whitish in color and not purple like the rest of my toes. When I pointed this out to the nail tech and she said it will "change" since it was mood color polish. I gave her the benefit of doubt and went home. I was horrified when I got home hours later and it was the same.. (See picture). I went back to the shop in the pouring rain. When I got there they were defensive saying that only one polish was used not two different nail polish so therefore it was me, my body temperature. Basically blaming me. I politely asked for another coat to cover up. It took another customer next to me to explain to them in broken English that I wanted another coat. While I spoke English fluently, they refused to hear me. They proceeded speaking in Vietnamese and I was humiliated. I even said thank you after the new coat was applied. The whole time they were defensive, never apologized, and completely ignored me when I said thank you for the coat of polish. I will never return here again. First time customer... I've been going to my manicurist over 9 years in Oakland. She wasn't available yesterday and I was in desperate to get my pedicure done. Therefore I found Tulip Nails via Yelp... I am very particular when it comes to my pedi and mani. I've been to many places where they don't know how to cut cuticles and would always leave me with a hangnail/infection. Upon my arrival, I immediately asked for someone who is experienced with cutting cuticles. I even showed them where I would like them to focus (the last thing I want is an infection!) . The young lady said, "we all know how to and will cut them." They sent Lisa out for pedi and Nancy for mani. I pointed to Lisa where and how to cut my big toes. She said, "yes, I know." First time around, she was gentle and barely cut anything. Second time around, I said, don't be afraid... just go ahead and cut them off cuz it's hurting my toe. Third time around, my toe was bleeding. The process was painful as she pushed way too hard. I held in the pain cuz I wanted it out. Eventually she said she got it out, but I couldn't tell cuz my toe felt bruised. Couple of other manicurists kept walking by and looked at Lisa's work and made comments in Vietnamese (which I couldn't understand). One lady asked me, is your big toe ok? It was hard to tell cuz my right toe felt bruised. This tells me they gave me a newbie. Which I'm not too happy with cuz I specifically asked for someone who is experienced with cutting cuticles. Overall: Nice little shop with lots of varieties of color. Nice massage chair. Nancy did well on my manicure and was able to achieve the polish I wanted. Tulip nails has became my go-to spot for my manicures. They do great work especially when it comes to acrylics. I normally always go somewhere else to do my gel manicures but broke 2 of my nails right before a couple big events and had to go with the acrylic. My other nail salon didn't do a great job with the acrylic so I sought out Tulip for better work, and I must say they have made me discover a new found love for acrylic overlays. They put the acrylic on my natural nails (no fake tips) and then gel polish on top. I get complimented all the time now on how nice and natural my nails look. The ladies here get the edges so smooth on the acrylic that u can barely tell when it grows out. Nothing a little light buffing and clear coat can't hide to extend my manicure for an extra week or so. My manicures last me about 3 weeks, could go longer if I just took better care of them. I file them down after 2 weeks because I'm just not used to having long nails. I've yet to try the pedicures because I still really love my old salon for that. I wasn't very impressed with the leg wax as they use the wax rollers and can actually be a little painful as it pulls the skin when applying. But Tulip nails is now my spot to go for manicures. read more

Waste of $$!! It was my first time at Tulip Nails and I decided to get a gel manicure. There was no wait at the door so my group and I got seated immediately. Honestly, the service was really good and the women there were really nice. However, a gel manicure is supposed to last at least 2 weeks. After a week, my gel manicure started peeling and chipping off on its own!! I paid for a gel manicure because I needed it to last longer than 2 weeks but I am extremely disappointed in the manicure that left me with bare nails again in a week. I also wanted my nails to be cut even but the lady made my nails all types of shapes. I don't know if I would be coming back to Tulip Nails again :/ I honestly wished I had a good experience with their nail service but I am extremely disappointed to have paid so much $$ for my nails to be back to normal again within a week. read more

No, no. Sorry I'm viet, and I never hate on my people and their nail shops. I support my people cause I know they work hard. So this pains me to actually write this but this has got to be looked into. I walked in on Saturday cause I desperately needed to get a manicure cause I didn't have time to go anywhere else. I just got a haircut around the corner so decided to try this shop out. Needless to say, I walked in for gel manicure, and I walked out with a partially acrylic nail, cuts and scrapes. Wtf. The lady who worked on me must have not had alot of experience or something. First, while she was clipping my nails, she cut into my nail bed. That shit was painful. And I don't even know how she did it cause my nails are long. She continued to try to nails but kept clipping part of my finger so I pulled back. I told her she wasn't cutting my nail. Showed her that she literally cut into my nailbed and now I have a crack in the middle of nail. She apologizes and then says she will fix it for me. She takes out acrylic powder and puts acrylic on my cracked nail to put it back together. She said it will help my nail not separate from my nailbed. Are you kidding me? I came in for a gel manicure not an acrylic nail. I am not happy but have to say ok cause what the fuxk am I gonna do with a cracked nail bed now? I also notice that her nail clipper is kinda rusting on the inside-um when was the last time this has been replaced? Next, she tries to sand down my what now is an acrylic nail, and tries to buff the rest of my nails. While she is doing that, she sands my skin on my cuticle down too. Again, OUCH. That hurts. She uses cuticle scissors and missed, and cuts me again. Now my wound is like semi burning cause I have an open wound and thetr is a shit ton of chemicals she's continuing to put on. And... I'm just waiting for this shit to be over. Anyway, she finishes my manicure by using cuticle oil for my hand massage. I wasn't sure about that either cause I thought cuticle oil should be for cuticles and lotions should be for massage. When it was all over, I still tipped because I understand people have to grind for their shit. But I absolutely don't appreciate the shitty awful service. I hope they hire people with more experience. Also, my cuticle that was cut and scraped now has an infection after the nail shop. Thanks. Never ever again will I walk into a random nail shop. read more

Owner Yvonne, daughter Qui and grandma are great! They are extremely quick when all you need is a manicure regardless if it's gel, nail polish or a full set. They are very attentive when getting a pedicure. This is great especially for those days when you're exhausted. Oh did I mention they give out mimosas most days of the week?! Yes!!! Cons: if you are assisted by a few of the other employees you will have issues such as lopsided or uneven nails. Nail polish that chips or comes off the same day.
