On a Sunday visiting family in the Chautauqua Institution and we headed out on the boat to Tulip's in Mayville. There is a public dock available just a couple hundred yards away from Tulip's. When we got there at about 11:30 on a Sunday the wait for a table was about 25 to 30 minutes. Plenty of room on the lawn out front to wait and even some outdoor games to play. We were called and seated at about 25 minutes; we had requested a table on the patio so my niece's dog could come along. Tulip's is located in a large Victorian house with a wrap around patio all overlooking the lake, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a summer brunch. Our server was great, friendly and helpful; orders are taken on a tablet and sent wirelessly to the kitchen. The menu has one side of breakfast items and the second side of lunch items. The food is slightly upscale without being overly fussy. There are some vegetarian items and others that can be made vegetarian by just leaving off the meat items. I ended up ordering the classic french toast, others at the table ordered sandwiches, corned beef hash, and omelets. Despite the restaurant being busy the food came out in about 10-15 minutes, all of the food being delivered by several servers; our server did check in to make sure that everything was delivered and that we were enjoying out food. Everyone enjoyed their food, portions were good, the food was well presented. My french toast was very good, carmalized on the outside custardy on the inside, slightly sweet and savory. It was presented with whipped butter and syrup. A nicely done classic and a great brunch. I would highly recommend Tulip's, a great place for breakfast and lunch. It seems like Chautauqua and Mayville have already figured it out and they are busy and doing well. read more

Wow! Everything was so fantastic for our midmorning brunch. It's a charming little spot in a converted Victorian home near the water. My wife and her friend had been the day before and wanted to take me back. My wife had the French toast, which she had had the day before, her friend had eggs, toast, and bacon, and I had the brunch madame. Let me warn you, if you order this, you will be a bit surprised when it arrives at your table. It is massive. But beyond being massive, it was perfectly toasty and cheesy on top with layers of ham and Bechemel inside, and it sat in a pool of glistening hollandaise sauce. Our server, Misty, laughed when I told her that it should come with a disclaimer, but it was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten for breakfast. It came with a side of breakfast potatoes and a perfectly soft poached egg nestled on top. To top it all off, the coffee was divine. Misty told us it was from Erie Street coffee and they sell it at the restaurant. Note that if you're going to go here, they close at 2:30. But it's definitely worth the trip and we will definitely be back. read more

What a cute and friendly brunch spot . It's right on the water , but sadly it was cloudy and rainy that day , so we sat inside . They had a nice selection of coffee specials , so I got one that was like a salted honey latte . Absolutely delicious . I ordered the Brunch Madame, which was like a hot ham and Swiss with béchamel sauce and a poached egg on top . It was a generous portion and I was able to upgrade my side to a fruit cup . Yummm ! If you are in the Mayville area , definitely do yourself a favor and stop by for a bite to eat ! read more

What a cute new place in Mayville. The interior is decorated so cute and colorful. It makes you happy being there and they have a great view of the lake and have lots of patio seating. This is how brunch should be done! We came for brunch and were able to get seated right away. I ordered a cappuccino but I loved the glass that the latte came in, so I'll probably order that next time. Service was friendly. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. The honey drizzle wasn't very spicy and the chicken was just a tad cooked too crispy but overall it was good. I might try something else next time. I'm excited to return and find my favorite dish. read more

The staff is always friendly, attentive and professional. Finally, the location, if you sit outside on the balcony you get a nice view of the lake. What a great breakfast spot. I had one of the best lattes I've had in a while. They offer anything from healthy yogurt/granola to heart stopping gravy/eggs/potatoes. I went the heart-stopper route and it was Dee-licious. They also offer fresh baked goods. The ambiance we light and fresh and clean. Our server was very nice and checked on us the right amount. What a cute spot!! I grabbed lunch here with my aunt and cousins a couple Saturdays ago and had a great experience. It was super busy in there so our waitress was a little tied up at times, but was so nice and accommodating. I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich and a specialty chai iced coffee drink - both fantastic! Will love to enjoy this place in the summer when its nice enough to sit outside on their deck. Tulips Brunch House was a hit! We each got the Erie street club (one gluten free) and we both loved it! The space is clean and bright with plenty of windows looking out onto the lake and lots of seating areas both indoors and outdoors. The bathroom was a single stall (w/c accessible) and well maintained. Our server was very sweet and helpful and checked in on us often. Well our waitress was new I think and a little confused about the menu and the food. We both ordered the corned beef hash. Unfortunately it was the worst I've ever had. The corned beef was very fatty, the egg was fine but the egg was not drained so there was an inch of water in the hash. I think we just ordered wrong as the food on everyone else's plates coming out looked great. Beautiful place and the people working there seemed happy. They did take 20 per cent off but it was basically inedible and we left hungry. read more

I've been here twice now... the first weekend they opened and today. I don't know what other people are talking about... portion sizes were exactly the same (they haven't decreased since opening) and they were plenty generous. My husband is a big eater and he found the sandwich to be very filling! I had the burger, he had the club and we got a side pancake and bacon for our daughter- all was delicious and cooked perfectly. Oh and I got a frap which was ridiculously good and only $5!!! Food is very tasty, the staff is super nice and attentive and the view can't be beat. The service is quite good, the menu is generous - as are the food portions. The food itself needs more flavor. I've been three times and each time needed to salt and pepper everything, and that's very unusual for me. Plus, on our last visit the indoor temperature of the restaurant wasn't above 60. Almost everyone in the place was wearing jackets, hats, hoodies, etc. BUT - the people and the atmosphere (meaning decor) are top notch and easily enough for me to keep coming back. read more

They have nailed every aspect from the beautifully crafted menu composed of quality and locally sourced ingredients to the absolutely stunning location where patrons can enjoy the bright indoor dining area or enjoy the lake view on the wrap around patio seating. The food was delicious and was prepared and served in under 15 minutes after placing our order. Mind you this was the first week they were open! My personal favorite has to be the coffee bar where I have been served the best iced latte I have had in the area. I tried the Yogurt and Honey Bowl --even though I wanted one of everything on the menu! It came layered with granola, Greek yogurt, fresh berries and local honey. Simple, yes, but thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented--deliciously refreshing. For a soft opening, service was attentive but relaxed and very knowledgeable. They were also great with my young kids! Both times we waited without being acknowledged for more than five minutes. The first time we were finally told, rather brusquely, that there would be a wait. It seemed the wait staff was under some stress so we left. The second time we stayed. The food was ok and very expensive.
