Another dermatologist, who performs mohs surgery, recommended Dr. Kelli Lovelace to me as mine had retired. I've been seeing her for a couple of years now and have been very pleased. I see her at the Tulsa clinic, 2121 E 21st St. I've read reviews having negative issues. I particularly don't understand when people report difficulty in making appointments. Several doctors of this clinic also keep hours in Claremore. But that's only one day a week for them. It is a busy clinic. But as another reported, the doctor has "squeezed" me in when I called with an issue. It isn't uncommon for the parking lot and waiting room to be packed. That's my only negative. I'm a blue eyed blonde and one time sun goddess. I've regularly seen dermatologists as far back as I can remember. Her online profile mentions her interest in surgical dermatology and Botox. I have no experience with her outside of regular check-ins. And to that I'll say she is absolutely the most thorough I've ever experienced. I've found her assistants to not only be amiable but helpful with medications and prescribing. They work for you -- they know who has your meds, how much it costs, what discounts are available, etc. Another positive is their patient portal. Answered in a timely manner and no hesitation in giving you a call. Be sure to have all your insurance cards every time you visit and be prepared for minimal paper work once you're an established patient. Once your appointment is over you'll see the personnel at the front desk who will make your next appointment. read more

Today I visited Dermatologist Courtney Cook. Very indifferent, careless, unprofessional doctor, like a robot her a face was saying " I am too busy for you". She didn't even examined my skin tags. She looked at them from distance. Spent with me less that 10 minutes. She just told me that I do have skin tags, which I already knew. Couldn't explain how and why they come out. I had one big black one on my neck, doctor said that she could cut it and send it for biopsy. How she can cut it without knowing what she is cutting? She offered to freeze small ones (which is an old method) and said that they might grow again. Really? In our days doctors do dermoscopy, blood tests and there are tons of medication to strengthen the immune system, she doesn't mention any medical therapy. Doctor said this is not caused by HPV (Human papillomavirus), but she has no idea what it caused. Feeling myself cheated. Very rude operator over the phone saying this is what the doctor learns at school. Don't waste your time. read more

Just a great all round medical experience, if such a thing is even possible. I've been going to Tulsa Dermo off and on for 25 years. I have just now started seeing Dr. Monks and he's already saved my life! my former doc, Dr. Gregg, did the same thing for me 25 years ago. Both instances resulted in a melanoma being removed. All the staff that I've dealt with are friendly, knowledgable and professional. Every employee seemis to truly care about each patient's welfare. I have nothing but good things to say about Doc Monks and Tulsa Dermo. It is a credit to Tulsa to have them here. read more

I called in looking for a dermatologist. Everywhere else is booking out SUPER far and I had some concerns I wanted addressed. The first receptionist was nice and said that even though they don't accept our insurance, we can come in and pay out of pocket. Checked a few other places (Utica Park is scheduling five months out!!) and called them back. The NEXT woman who answered clearly left her brain and manners at home. After putting me on hold for ten minutes, she said that because they did not accept my insurance, I wouldn't be allowed to pay out of pocked because that would be insurance fraud. Are you kidding me?? I've been in the medical field a LONG time. That isn't how ANY of this works. They just want to get paid. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Lovelace for several years now. She's always very kind, personable, and thorough. The office is extremely busy sometimes, but it's never been too long waiting to see her. I went to Tulsa dermatology because it's right by my work and it always looked busy. the nurses and staff were nice. paid my $50 copay. saw the doctor for two minuets . The doctor gave me a super quick exam and offered a medication. I received three weeks later a refusal from insurance to cover that medication. I never heard back from the doctor to give me the other options listed by insurance. I found out they are a second tier on my insurance. a week later I received another $122 bill. my two minutes cost me $172. very little care received. read more

Wow! I need to see a dermatologist, so I called Tulsa Dermatology Clinic. Here is how the conversation went: "Hi. I was calling to see how quickly a new patient could be seen." "What kind of insurance do you have?" - didn't ask anything about reason for visit... "UMR" "Is that part of United?" "Yes" "Okay, we take that insurance. We need a referral from your primary doctor. Once we get the referral we will call you for an appointment." "But my insurance does not require a referral." "That's our doctors' rule." "Okay. Once you get a referral, when could I get an appointment?" "With your insurance, we could see you in late November." "No, thank you." So - here is what I come away with from my one (and only) interaction with Tulsa Dermatology Clinic - they only care about my insurance, don't care why I need to see a doctor. And, it even seems like if I had different insurance, I would be seen sooner. Guess I will keep looking for a dermatologist in Tulsa. read more

I went to see doctor Ashwini Vaidya. She is sweet and doesn't rush her time with me. It can take a new patient a few months to get in. They are or have added a few more dermatologists according to their website. The review someone wrote below about the person on the phone asking about insurance, EVERY medical facility does that, and will continue to ask if insurance has changed the next time you need a visit. For someone wanting to see certain types of doctors, you might have to look for a newer one that hasn't been out of school very long and doesn't already have a full or overflowing case load. That is easy enough to do by going to the state specific medical board, osteopathic board, or dental board website. The Oklahoma medical board has a section of choices including type of specialty and even "new". read more

I was weary of the reviews but two friends recommended to come here so I trusted them more than reviews. I should have trusted the reviews. This is hands down the busiest dermo clinic I have ever been to and I have been going to them since I was 12. When I saw the doctor, I showed him what I was currently using, what I liked and that I didnt want to go back on pills. He suggested pills. I repeated I do not want to go back on them and that the face wash I had been using made a huge difference. So he writes me a prescription for a day and night cream- mind you I already use a night cream. It wasn't covered by insurance.... I told them I only wanted what was covered. When I go to pick up the new prescription from CVS... I get home.... its a night cream. So instead of giving me a face wash like I said I wanted.... he gave me a night cream.... that I cant use since I already use one. They dont listen, they only want your $$$$$. read more

My husband went in early for a 2 pm appointment to fill out paperwork. He waited until 3 pm and then asked.. he was then informed his appt was really at 2:30 because he needed to fill out paper work (which took 5 min). He sat back down but was not taken back to a room until 3:15. He then waited another 20 minutes until the doctor came in for a 3-5 min visit. The doctor was very kind but my husband will never go back. There are plenty of other kind dermatologist's out there that respect their patients time. read more

Office manager at this location is not a service minded individual. After I provided her a gift regarding their service failures, she replied if I didn't have to come here for service! Who says this? Who acts like a ride and unprofessional 2 year old? I don't recommend this location and until I receive an apology, I will provide a negative review for the blatant disregard and disrespect I was provided. A doctor (with very poor manners and a haughty attitude) here failed to diagnose my father's cancer. They continually blew off my parents' concerns. Fortunately, Dad found a real doctor elsewhere that removed two quarter-sized squamous cell spots from his face and head and he is recovering nicely. read more

I called to make an appointment despite the negative reviews. I was met with endless questions concerning my health insurance. After I had supplied all of the information and made it through those hoops, I was informed I had to have a referral from my primary health care provider before they would consider scheduling me. I carry PPO insurance and do not require a referral. I decided to take my medical needs to a medical professional who is concerned about my health and maintains a staff that exhibits that attitude. Avoid these folks unless you like to deal with endless questions/actions that are not necessary. read more

My first visit the nurses and doctor seemed very impersonal. They seemed more concerned with getting me in and out and when I mentioned wanting to discuss acutane they went straight to the paperwork to prep for it without hesitation. Although this may seem nice, this was my first ever visit to this doctor and he didn't take even a second to get to know me or my history before giving me what I wanted. Since this is such an intense treatment I have to get monthly labs done. I went to get my second set of labs done, going on the precise date my doctor's nurse informed me to. The next day I get a call from the nurse telling me that the labs were run two days too early, admitting it was her fault and sent me to have labs run again. When I go back to get the labs run again I noticed that she listed for me to have an additional test which wasn't necessary. If I wouldn't have known better I would have wasted an extra $60. Not only did she mess up the lab orders, she insisted that even though it was her mistake they would not be able to reimburse me for having to run the labs again. This bad business has cost me extra time and money and I've only just started using their services. read more

I went to Dr. Monks several times for a few problems, including annual skin cancer checks and adult acne. Like another reviewer, all my experiences were that Dr. Monks seemed to be on the way out before he even got into the room. He wouldn't take the time to discuss any problem I had (and still have). He would only rush to prescribe meds or ointments if I brought up an issue or asked a question. For adult acne, he only prescribed 1 ointment, but informed me that I had to check and see if my insurance would cover it. Other doctors ask their staff to check whether my insurance to see if a procedure or medicine was covered or not - don't believe I've ever had to do it myself. The skin cancer checks were especially a joke, both for me and my husband, who I talked into coming to Dr. Monks. These seemed to be the times that Dr. Monks rushed in and out, hardly giving our bodies a glance. I wonder if he even looked at our skin at all. Thankfully, Dr. Monks never did push me to buy any of the products they sell, so I guess that is what deserves the 1 star rating; otherwise, he'd get zero stars. The nurse accompanying him into the exam room was VERY rude. She never once acted like she was there to help me - she acted like I as an inconvenience. I will never go back to the Tulsa Dermatology Clinic again. read more
