The food was delicious. I had the Mahi appetizer. Temp could have been just a tad cooler. My entree was the grill Romain lettuce and salmon salad. So very tasty. For my cocktail I had the THC tincture with ginger beer. I'm not an alcohol drinker so I was pleased to see the alternative. The service was amazing. Our servers name was Destiny. She was very attentive and checked on us regularly. They have all these umbrellas over each table that have to be constantly moved around to keep you in or out of the sun and they are so large and cumbersome they keep getting hooked up on each other. Not ideal. They have another outside seating area where a band plays. That looked very inviting. We were there too early for the band but it looked like a great setup. Inside they had lots of seating which was nice to have the option on such a beautiful day. They have these three fans I think outside to help cool and keep the bugs away. This place was packed Friday night when we drove by and Saturday night when we came to eat. We were told the wait would be around 30 minutes, but it ended up being only 5, which was great. The restaurant is huge with tons of outdoor seating. There's also two full bars, one inside the restaurant, and one near the outdoor area where they brew the beer. There was also live music, which I'm guessing happens pretty often. Everything on the menu looked really good. I had the bison meatloaf with vegetables and the salted watermelon drink. The meatloaf was tasty but should have had more gravy. And the vegetables were cooked perfectly but needed seasoning. The drink was also solid but a bit sweet for me. It was a gorgeous evening to sit outside, enjoy delicious food and good music. We started out with drinks a Champagne cosmo and Devil's Doorway and Crispy Brussels sprout chips. All of it was absolutely wonderful! We split the bison meatloaf meal and oh my goodness so so good! Never had bison before and I would definitely have that again. I could have eaten more of the carrots and snap peas and if I ever go back I would definitely ask for extra and pay willingly for them! Ordered another drink called French Kiss and it was really good too. Service was pretty good...our server was very sweet and attentive at the beginning but when she brought us the ticket she kind of disappeared so we had to go to the front desk to figure out how to pay. Spent the weekend in Wisconsin camping in below freezing temperatures. Best way to recover from the cold is a hot cup of cocoa right? Nah. Give me beer. Drove past this brewery and immediately had to turn around and check it out. The venue is AWESOME. Turf outdoor seating space with table, couches, heaters, and what looked like a stage for live music. The staff here are certainly very friendly and the do a great job explaining the variety of beers they have. Had a beer sampler to try a few before getting crowlers. Would absolutely recommend the Udders up, Fika, and their Oktoberfest beer (as a stout and cream ale fan). All of their beers had robust flavor and interestingly enough a more full mouthfeel than most beers. The Smoked six tasted like smoked bacon which is cool and all but that's an experience, not really something I would drink regularly. This tap room is a great place to get a good afternoon or morning beer with friends and to watch football. I now have another reason to drive up from Chicago other than Spotted Cows. This is my go-to spot after a hike at Devil's Lake! The outdoor beer garden and seating area are absolutely fabulous and perfect for relaxing on a nice day. When it's colder, the indoor space is spacious and cozy. The bartender was outstanding and handled everything solo better than some places do with multiple bartenders. A true gem next to a state park! We were starving after our hike, so my 17 year old and I. Checked menus, and location, and decided on the BLTA before we even got there. The tomatoes HAD to be locally grown, they were SO full of flavor, omg, they made the sandwich!! Also, a LOT of thick, good quality bacon. Also, ordered the bridal sprout chips. The flavor was great, but hard to eat, to be honest, too small to dip into the horseradish sauce, so I ended up putting the sauce on the top and eating with a fork with some success. We were on a little road trip and found this gem along the way. Late August, a cooler afternoon on a weekday. We chose to sit on the outdoor patio. Each table is provided with an object that looks like a shiny fan, it is a fan but it's not for cooling you off it's a deterrent for flies and insects. Cool, not sure how well it worked? We still had a wasp visitor or two but that was no big deal. Actually no flies though, so maybe the fan just doesn't work with wasps. Food: We tried the Ahi Stack. Fresh and tasty but my boyfriend didn't like the texture of it. The way it was chopped or shaved and then formed into the mold. I didn't mind it at all but for him, it was just different. I liked it a lot. The steak bites were good, just ate them straight with a fork, didn't use the crostini. Smoked Trout Crostini I enjoyed a lot. Liked the combination of flavors in these. Drinks: He tried the Gin & Juice and was very pleased with it. I tasted it and would love to order it on the next visit. I had the Strawberry Aperol Margarita, which I really enjoyed. It is a vibrant pinky red hue.and I really liked the addition of Aperol! It wasn't too sweet at all which can happen with strawberry heavy drinks. For beer I was in love with Cabana Dreams and would have brought some home had they sold it in growlers!!!! Stop Gherkin Me Around was my partners choice. It was also pretty good. Took a road trip on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to their outdoor in the country setting. Very nice seating with a band playing good music. The bread on my sandwich tasted old, the picked vegetables medley was awful. Maybe next time I'll stick to the wood fired pizza. Super disappointed in my meal. Our server was just ok, not super friendly or chatty, did her job but nothing over & above. A few years later and i came back to a generally great experience. The bartender was crazy friendly and had great beer recommendations. The pulled ham and Gruyère sandwich was fantastic. I stumbled upon Tumbled Rock after hiking at a nearby state park. It was a beautiful day and I was able to get a table right away. I started with a flight of beer and enjoyed each one. I also appreciated the wait staff helping me pick out the beers. Although they don't have any vegetarian entrees, the asian lettuce warps with tofu made an excellent meal. I'm not entirely sure why they fried the rice noodles. I would have preferred them soft, but the dish was otherwise very tasty. The patio was lovely. Stopped by Tumbled Rock after a day of hiking. Both the Kitchen and Brewery side were packed as it was colder weather and no one was on the patio. After checking in, we were told the wait would be 20-25 minutes. Our buzzer went off after 8 minutes! Score! After perusing the drink menu, we tried a variety of beers as well as a local white wine. The fan favorite beers were the Oktoberfest and Triple IPA. The white wine was really well received as well! For food, we got a variety of handhelds. I got the BLTA which the bacon wasn't cooked as requested and was missing the aioli sauce. My mom got the Hot Chicken Sandwich which was not spicy at all. Meat was flavorful and the sandwich was huge. My dad got the Birria Torta which was also huge and had great flavor. My fiancé got the Wagyu Burger which was straight forward meat patty, blue cheese, and a bun. He wished there were more toppings to enhance the flavor. While I am rating my visit a 4/5, I would still highly recommend making a stop to try out Tumbled Rock. It's a great spot in the Baraboo area and is great for any time of year. read more

My husband and I love coming to Tumbled Rock Kitchen for lunch. All the food we've had has been impressive, and we like the relaxing vibe. Outdoor seating in the summer is vast and comfortable. We stopped here after a visit to Circus World. Atmosphere: Great outdoor seating! They have umbrellas for shade and rain cover. We sat at a high top right next to the building under the eaves... it rained and we didn't get wet! Lots of seating at the brewery and at the kitchen. Service: Super! At least what we got, which was: - BBQ platter - included Burnt ends, ribs, brisket, and wings plus Mac n cheese and pretzel roll - Farm pizza The brisket and wings were pretty dry. The burnt ends were the highlight but none of it was fresh. I know it's hard with bbq since it's often smoked earlier in the day but this was a miss. Even the Mac tasted like velveeta from a box. Def wouldn't recommend. The farm pizza left a lot to be desired. We both found it mediocre. The carrots were good, the best of the three and a good portion. Hiked Devil's lake, then stopped here for an early dinner. Pleasant hostess seated us right away and brought us our beer order. My English IPA was great; earthy hops. We ordered and got our food very quickly. My BBQ platter was outstanding with ribs, rib tips, brisket and chicken wings, Mac and cheese in a cast iron bowl, coleslaw and a pretzel role. Couldn't eat it all and had to bring some home. My wife's tuna steak was also outstanding. Very nice decor. We showed up minutes before 7pm as 4 out of 6 of our party of 6. We advised the host accordingly, and expected to need to wait for the rest of the party. Since he grabbed menus & started towards the open-air outdoor dining area, we realized we didn't need to wait, tho the communication from the host was lacking. The previous interaction involved us asking what time the kitchen closed, or if it already had, since it was listed as 7pm online, which was only minutes away. The clipped response: "If the kitchen was closed, I wouldn't be seating you." Mind you, we've been seated at PLENTY of places that would still seat you for drinks, and possibly limited menu, after the kitchen closed. So, much for our attempt to not be those patrons that show up just under the clock & keep everyone late. (As a lover of dry humor, I can tell ya the guy wasn't being funny, or trying to - he's just a lousy host & since the front of the house makes the first impression, well - it was as lacking as the guy's personality.) Things turned around with our server, she was far more personable & was also knowledgeable about the offerings. One gal ordered the cauliflower crust pizza & they were out of it, so, she opted for a burger with no bun - and was understandably disappointed. The wings were good, tho nothing about them would make them truly stand out. The bison bone marrow was good - came with tons of bread and butter. I do prefer the cut lengthwise for ease of eating, but not a deal breaker. The tuna steak was excellent. The salted watermelon drink was a hit with the table, the Manhattan was ok & the beer was decent. Waters were automatically given, which I definitely appreciate after a day of hiking. My fiance got the Dutch farmer and udders up and he enjoyed those, I had a Moscow mule and it was good considering this is a brewery. We shared some cheese curds (good but not great) and the sourdough bread board (I might be a bit snobby on this I'm use to San Francisco sourdough, but it was ok) we shared a pizza (something farmers pizza- if had corn) over all the food was good. Our server was a guy who worse sunglasses inside and had a neck tattoo- he was super cool, we've never been to Wisconsin and asked him for recommendations and gave us some super cool advice so shout out to him for helping us explore Wisconsin! The overall restaurant is super nice--they have large outdoor patio space, and the inside is spacious, a great place to accommodate a larger party. After visiting Devils lake this was the must visit spot . It was extremely busy and we waited about 25 minutes as the hosted predicted. We sat outside and enjoyed the live music . This was a cooler fall day so thankfully they had some heaters to kill the chill in the air . We ordered beers both in which were great . I enjoyed the devils doorway the double ipa which I throughly enjoyed. As for the food we ordered the Quesabirria which my wife loved expected for the bit of netting found in the meat . This was unfortunate but the service and floor management was quick to cover the cost of the dish . We also ordered the elote dish which was nice . This could have stood out more but was good . Soft bun, fresh pickles, delicious sauce 10/10 for me -and I loved the side of marinated or pickled veggies they served with our sandwiches! So much better than a cole slaw or potato salad. Went for lunch. Modestly busy with plenty of outdoor seating available. Reviewed the menu and decided to do an appetizer lunch. Lots to choose from but went with three items we would not normally not order. Deviled Eggs caught our eye. Three deviled eggs beautifully prepared and topped with three different appointments: one had olive slices, the second had smoked fish and the third was topped with a pork crumble and a drop of sriracha. We really enjoyed creativity and flavor. Buffalo sliders were an easy decision. Three small patties cooked medium each on a small pretzel bun with a slice of tomato and piece of lettuce. There was a mayo type aioli as part of the presentation. The meat was fine, nothing special to heighten the awareness of the tastebuds. The buns seems to be dry. Perhaps they were toasted, so I'll go lightly on that point. Aioli lacked kick and flavor. The sliders were accompanied by a small pickled vegetable selection with a vinaigrette dressing.. This item was one of the higher priced appetizer items on the menu. I expected more. Lastly, we ordered lettuce wraps. Generous portion of ground chicken nicely flavored with tasty sauce and bacon, all topped with cellophane noodles. Butter lettuce served as the vehicle for delivery. It was fresh and nicely presented. Service was average and a little lagging in responsiveness, but it was pleasant and friendly. The setting is very nice. We will return some me evening when they have live music. From a value perspective the meal was good, but I was turned off when I learned of the 3% surcharge for credit card use. Come on, this is Baraboo, WI not Chicago or New York. We will return but I can't give my full support and highest recommendation at this time.
