    Cocktail and beer flight
    Jay S.

We went to the pottery pub while on a walking eating and drinking tour. This is our second stop in. We had a beer flight as well as a cocktail flight. My wife had a cocktail flight and said she absolutely loved the ingredients. Come to find out that the owner was a chemist and I may be wrong and he really figured these drinks out. There are a lot of other libations available such as Mezcal, etc. my beer flight was really really superb. We saw a group coming in to work with the pottery and have some fun drinking there libations. Really cool place and nice people.

I absolutely love the concept of this business and it's a great way to spend a few hours. It's a cocktail lounge combined with a pottery studio and the whole experience was so much fun. From the friendly bartender and creative cocktails, to the cozy space and beer that they brew themselves, each element worked together so well. They sell a few small snack items but if you're working with the clay I think it would be difficult to eat at the same time. A large hunk of clay only costs $16 and they have all the tools you'll need. You work at your own pace and even if you don't have much experience with clay it's fun just to be an artist for a bit. You're then able to paint it and the specific type of clay they use is self-dry. Because of this, it dries with a darker matte finish so it's probably not going to be your prized masterpiece but it's really about the experience.

Went to the brewery for St. Patrick's Day. Got a raffle drawing win of pottery class and some cocktails. They exchanged the classes for SWAG. got sweatshirts, and it feels weird to rave about a zip up hoodie, but I wear it everywhere. The canned cocktails are great, and we have a nice little pottery cup. My wife and I are 100% going back there next time we visit Santa Fe.

I brought some friends here when they visited, and it was such a great experience. If you are looking for a fun and relaxed spot with good drinks, this is the place. It works well for date night, hanging out with a group, or even family gatherings. You can do pottery or simply enjoy a drink. Street parking is available. The customer service was excellent. I did not catch the bartender's name, but he was extremely nice, helpful, and kind to everyone. He made some amazing drinks, and I will definitely be back. Overall, this is a really cool spot in a great location with a nice atmosphere inside. Please support this local business if you are visiting Santa Fe or if you are a local looking for something fun to do.

I've seen the sign advertising this place but just hadn't been yet... now we will definitely go again! A fun, chill place for a good drink and tapas if you're feeling snacky. The draw for me was playing with clay and making my own sculptures! A great date spot, for clay it's $9 per person. There was tons of tools and paint to create your masterpiece. The atmosphere was calm and groovy allowing you to get into the flow of your creative process with a yummy drink in tow. This place also sells local artist's pottery!

You down wit TPP? Yeah, you know me. Like many of the reviewers, I stumbled upon the pub after finding out the Georgia O'Keeffe museum had sold out, so this was a nice consolation after missing out on all those paintings of beefy axe-wound flowers. Because people are stumbling upon this pub, maybe it should be called Stumbleroot. Anyway, the place is so chill they should paint icicles on the walls. The guy behind the bar didn't give us a hard sell. Or even a soft sell. Don't.. don't you want me? It was almost an anti-sell. He waited until I asked, and he was like, "oh, yeah, we have clay..." I almost sculpted a brick in my pants when I found out it was only $9 for a pound of clay, with the tools, paint, and time included. I think if people knew it was that straightforward and cheap, they would dive in. Best of all, it kept us off our phones. Plus, it's a chill bar with unique offerings. I got a giant Japanese lager for $5. Plus, they have Open Mics (Wed), live jazz (Summer Sundays), and live music (first Fridays). Artisanal and organic, it's a very hipster offering that joyfully welcomes tourists with open, heavily tattooed arms. So... for this reason, Tumbleroot was one the best experiences we had in Santa Fe, and one of my most recommended businesses anywhere. It's an enormously inviting, unique, memorable, and cheap way to enjoy a beverage, perfect for first dates, couples, friends, families, co-workers, and people looking for exciting new ways to ruin their new Double RL shirt. By the way, the Reporter's "Best of Santa Fe" listed Tumbleroot the #1 Best Bar a second year in a row (for "top-notch locally made drinks" and being an all-inclusive music venue). PS. (The Small Print). The paint selection is bare (they had no white which is limiting), but it's hard to complain since it's free. Maybe they could offset this by charging $1 for paint. The pottery will air dry overnight, so hopefully you have the next day to retrieve it. It's not waterproof, so don't make shot glasses. And it's fragile (my cat whiskers and gas can handle fell off), so don't make handcuffs. And, try as you might, it's nearly impossible to summon Patrick Swayze's ghost.

    A beer & a pound of clay each. ;)

We stumbled on this place this afternoon when we were strolling downtown, looking for a quick drink. We live near Tumbleroot Brewery & love it, so we were excited to see this new location & their UNIQUE, FUN idea! "The marriage of suds & mud" is their motto. The owner of Tumbleroot's wife is a potter & they had this business "baby"... BRILLIANT! It was warm & cozy inside on this cold & sleeting night; every table was full! Lots of smiles & deep conversations while we all worked on our entertaining creations. I wish there was a way to do more advanced (fired) work.... Right now, it's just air-dry clay. Maybe later.. (or maybe they have special events like that on the calendar? I haven't looked at the website yet.) We spontaneously called a couple of friends & they popped over to join us - curious about this new place! We had a great time & we'll DEFINITELY go back!

After an afternoon on a hot, sunny day walking the Sante Fe plaza we were looking for somewhere to stop for a drink and just happened to find this place and we were so fortunate ! Pottery and drinks a perfect combination. The owners are a husband and wife team , the wife a potter and the husband a brewer, and both so welcoming and nice. We tried a flight and each drink is served in handmade pottery glasses and cups, so unique and available to purchase. Drinks are served with a small plate of snacks. There is plenty of pottery to purchase but you can also purchase a ball of clay to create your own . The vibe is calm, relaxing and chill. Absolutely loved the combination of talents. Definitely will return,

Ask the Community - Tumbleroot Pottery Pub

I am bringing my daughter to Santa Fe for her 17th birthday- she would love this place, but obviously can't drink. Will she be able to come and accompany me or does she need to be 21 to enter the establishment?

She doesn't need to be 21. A bar and table seating is available for others - great location just down the street from the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum...

There were only 3 children signed up for the "Kids Clay workshop", so there was plenty of opportunity for the teacher to provide one-on-one attention to them. There was not much direction or instruction from the teacher on how to prepare the clay or proper painting technique to use on clay. She did demonstrate how to attach items to clay by scraping. For this age, we felt there should have been more instruction on designing of the objects and directions on how to paint the clay, so when fired, the color would be more vibrant. The color of the completed pieces was very washed out, almost if they had been just painted with water color. The teacher said the project would be ready in 7 to 10 days and that we would receive a text when the pieces were ready to pick up. It took 21 days and we were never notified for pick-up. We had to personally check 3 times to see if project had been completed and was ready to pick up. Very disappointed in the service after paying over $80 for the class.
