Our son attended The Little School of Waldwick from the ages of 2 to 5, and we couldn't be more…read moregrateful for the experience. During his time there, he grew tremendously--socially, emotionally, and academically. We found The Little School after making the difficult decision to withdraw him from another local preschool that wasn't providing the extra TLC he needed. From our very first meeting with the owner, Maria, we knew this was something special. It wasn't just a daycare--it was a true home away from home. The love, patience, and individualized care our son received allowed him to thrive in ways we had hoped for. The nurturing environment and genuine dedication of the staff gave him the confidence to grow, learn, and develop a true love of school. If you're looking for a place where your child will not only be safe and receive an excellent early education, but also be loved and cared for like family, look no further than The Little School of Waldwick. We wholeheartedly recommend it to any family seeking a warm, supportive, and enriching environment for their child.

Maria (who runs the center) just flat out cares. She is incredibly thorough in how she and her team look over the kids. She doesn't look at this as "babysitting", she looks at this as a proper school. She highly emphasizes education and constant broadening of the childrens' horizons, and she knows all of the kids in the school very well. Even more, as our son was starting their program she actively encouraged us to stop by with him after hours multiple times, to acclimate him to the environment before starting up. She did everything she could to make sure our child had the smoothest startup possible, and as a result he adjusted really quickly all things considered. I cannot recommend this school enough, it has been an entirely positive experience and I feel my child is being cared for so much more than at some of the local franchised daycares we visited. (Also regarding cost, interestingly they're on the better value side of tuition rates for the area)

I registered and paid for the clinic immediately. When I showed up for the first day, they first told me we were late and that I had the wrong time. When I showed them my invoice and their website they then said I couldn't have registered for that clinic because it doesn't exist. It is STILL on the website. They are refusing to refund me. They refuse to admit their mistake. They never informed me of any potential changes or that what I had paid for would not be offered. They took my money and did not provide the service that I paid for. Everyone should avoid this place for their shady business practices.

This review is for the kids soccer program only…read more My experience does not square with the lone dissenting review. The coaches seem well schooled in fundamentals and my 8 year old is well challenged in his 2 - one hour weekly sessions. This is not club soccer for sure - more like winter training to build foot skills and confidence - but for the price ($100 for each 8 week session) and given about 10 kids per class, it suits us. Our youngster has already improved in a short few weeks. If your kid is the star of his club team, this may seem elementary. But if he or she is like the vast majority of youngsters who play rec soccer in nj, this program is a nice way to reinforce the skills they learned in summer and fall. Plus, the facility itself is first rate and, most importantly for me, it serves decent coffee. See Pete. He will hook you up.

I'm writing in response to that bad review about no creativity. On the contrary, I think that…read moreschool is all about creativity and creative thinking and being unique!! The owner knows every kid's name and addresses them each in a way that makes them feel special and important. When I visited the school, the owner took a lot of time showing me all the different types of activities and what skill each exercise is trying to achieve. And they rotate all the activities and stations very periodically so it is always fresh and new and the kids don't memorize the answers or get bored. I was also impressed with how the school will help with suggesting other places in the area for other interests, and even other preschools, if this is not the one for you! I was very impressed when I visited the school. I think it is an amazingly nurturing, fun, educational environment.

This was a horrible environment- montessori learning tools but in a rigid, stifling program. My son was punished for creativity. Visiting the school I found 16 identical everything- no child was allowed to invent or create or think. I met with the director and she went off on an irrelevant rant about her own child- who was already an adult at the time, with no real grasp of what was happening in the classroom or playground. There are real montessori schools in the area which are much healthier environments. Run.

Our family was very disappointed with our experience at CAP. My child attended for just 5 months…read moreand during that time we discovered many issues with the school. 1. My child had a medical emergency while at the school and it was unclear how it was actually handled. We received different accounts from the director, area manager, the staff member who accompanied my child to the hospital, and the EMT's who responded to the event. When I asked to see the footage from the time period of the medical emergency I was denied the request. 2. Classes are often combined in the morning or after 4pm, even during disease outbreaks in those respective rooms. Many times I would pick up my child and my child would be in the room where there is a known presence of Croup or Hand Foot Mouth playing with the children from that room. This, to me, demonstrated a lack of genuine care for the well being of the children. 4. My child's teacher recorded and posted a video on the app of another child pushing and kicking my child. My child was kicked 4 or more times and there was no intervention by the teacher. When I addressed this with the director I was simply told this was normal behavior for the age group and if the teacher had deemed to to be excessive she would have addressed it. 5.While regular handwashing is talked about quite a bit during the tour, it was not happening. Many times I picked up my child either right after playtime/before a snack or meal time or during a diaper change and the children were never made to wash their hands. I addressed this observation once with the director and noticed no improvements. 6. My child came home twice with scratches on her body that the staff could never explain. One scratch spanned across her back. 7. My child came home many times with diaper rash, despite us providing 40% zinc oxide diaper cream. On one occasion, I picked my child up and was told that all 3 of the kids left in the room had diaper rash. I don't think it is a coincidence that the last 3 kids left in the room that day all had diaper rash.

My daughter went for a full day of camp on an extremely hot day, much of which was spent outdoors, without any food. Absolutely disgraceful. Even if the counselor didn't see the lunchbox, the right thing to do would have been to call me to ask if I had packed one, and if I had forgotten, to ask me to drop one off. When I brought it up to the company, they apologized and offered my daughter lollipops as a consolation and a discount to return for future. Are you kidding me??? I elected to never send my daughter back there again for her safety and never got a refund for the remaining weeks. I would think twice before sending my child here. Clearly the counselors have no common sense and it is not a safe environment for a young child who cannot yet advocate for herself.

All the coaches here are very good with kids of all ages and they are extremely experienced with a great reputation in the fencing community. My children initially tried all 3 weapons and picked sabre since it's fast paced and more dynamic/fun (each bout/tournament also takes a lot less time than Epee or Foil which is a big advantage for parents!). During high school junior year my child is already recruited to fence as NCAA athlete at a great college and the MFC club/coaches have been providing the best training and extremely encouraging and supportive throughout the process. I also like the fact that Manhattan has multiple locations including Manhattan (b/w 5th and 6th Ave and 37th street with easy access via public transportation) since there are so many nationally/internationally rated/ranked fencers to fence with which is a true advantage and not many clubs provide this opportunity. This Waldwick location is very well maintained and programs are well organized and you can choose lessons from well known, experienced coaches who are very good with kids, I strongly recommend parents especially with young children have their kids try since Sabre fencing is a fantastic way to be physically fit and an excellent extracurricular (EC) activity down the road. There are many age groups and class offerings between Waldwick and Englewood in Bergen County with an option to fence in Manhattan as well on Fridays and Saturdays. This Waldwick location is also well maintained with a great area where parents can watch their kids training and there is a space where kids can do homework etc while waiting for their classes. This is such a caring, supportive community with a good team/club spirit. Kids love to fence and hang out with their club friends! I highly recommend!
