We stopped by for happy hour and tried all three cocktails they offered. We liked them all. The oysters were also really good. Our bartender was super helpful and sweet. We appreciated her telling us about their off menu items which we truly enjoyed. It's spacious and nice inside the restaurant. They also had outdoor seating too. Highly recommend, can't believe we haven't been there sooner!

What a wonderful Old City find. Stopped in for a quick bite and mocktail on a Thursday and had friendly service at the bar along with amazing bites. I tried the crispy rice and tuna, Japanese sweet potato roll, and oysters. Tastes were delicate and delicious and not overpowering. A lychee mocktail was perfect to round it all out and I'm down to come back!

One of the best rolls of sushi I have ever had! The staff were friendly and welcoming! This roll was so flavorful I wanted to take one or three to go . Will definitely be going back soon

We enjoyed our dinner at Tuna bar. The food came out quickly and the quality was decent. The ginger salad and beef spring rolls were excellent. I would order the Tuna carpaccio as it had an odd texture and flavor to it. The sushi rolls were solid. Cocktails were pretty good too. I would return if I am in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Oh my. What a wonderful first place to visit in Old City! Helping a friend move in today and needed some lunch- so happy we found this place! Went around 2:00 on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was definitely nicer, but I felt comfortable in jeans for lunch. The food was absolutely perfect. We shared the creamy rock shrimp, spicy tuna crispy rice, and each picked a special maki. I had the "Liberty" and my friend had the "Rittenhouse." These were big enough to be a dinner on their own, so we struggled to finish them after our appetizers. But, they were both so delicious, we had to eat every last piece. I would recommend this spot for a date night, girls' dinner, or a delicious lunch like we had.

Visited this place with a friend and it's such a delightful cute place in old city. The food was good and the staff was super nice as well. We went on a Saturday about 40 minutes after opening and we were seated promptly without a reservation. Really enjoyed this place.

Loved the dinner we had here! The space is really cool, it was about to rain so we chose to sit inside, but they had a lot of outdoor which I thought was really cool! They have a great drink list, I got the Lycheetini which was refreshing and delicious! My friends and I got a few plates to share like the glazed Brussel sprouts, ginger salad, and vegetable fried rice! They also got the gyoza, but as a vegetarian I did not try those, my friends said they were great though. We also each got at roll, I got the Japanese Sweet Potato Roll, the flavor was good but it was super dry so a little hard to eat, I think more sauce or some spicy mayo may have helped. The service was super quick and the staff was friendly. All in all a great dinner spot and I would go back! Great start for our girls night out!

Love tuna bar!!!!!!!! No notes. Best place in old city. They know what they're doing here and I will be back

Tuna Bar is my favorite sushi I have had in all of Philly, dunking on other sushi heavyweights like Double Knot and Royal Sushi. I was initially skeptical upon entering, as the interior is hella contemporary and it's just kinda sceney in here. Like are we trying to be a trendy hotel bar or are we here to slang good sushi? My doubt was fed to the canvas when our feast began to roll in. All in all, we got the creamy rock shrimp, brussel sprouts, crispy rice spicy tuna, wagyu spring rolls, a yellowtail roll, a spicy salmon roll, the fishtown roll, and a liberty roll. Everything was fantastic and the quality of fish was top notch. The rock shrimp and wagyu spring rolls were the standouts until the Liberty Roll came and flipped the game on its head. The Liberty Roll came to PLAY. My taste buds had never experienced anything like it: Spicy crab & cucumber topped with torched salmon, spicy aioli, and some rice pearls. It melted in your mouth. It made you feel things you hadn't felt in years.. After torching everything, we were full af but I left it up to God and asked the waiter if they had any mochi for dessert, because my soul is incapable of passing up on good mochi. "Of course!" He responded. GOD STEPPED IN! They had green tea, strawberry, and vanilla and we got one of each and cleaned the plate. Mochi all-stars. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

I'm not a huge sushi person, but after visiting this place. I'm definitely a huge fan! Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. I honestly kept wanting more because it was so good. The service was excellent and helped us navigate items to try, and it was nicely decorated. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone!

    Tuna Crudo (1/2 Eaten)

Easily some of the best fish I've ever had! The tuna crudo and yellowtail sashimi are to die for and the staff was very professional and polite. We went with no reservation around 6pm on Good Friday and they were able to get us a table in no time (though I'd definitely recommend a reservation as they get packed). While they were very busy, the food came out in a timely and we were still checked on regularly!

Unlike others, we felt the portions were not too small. Overall a very respectable dinner showing from Almanac. I kind of regret ordering a pre fixed cocktail because his Omakase was so on point to what he asked for and was delicious. I love rhubarb and Gin is my usual spirt of choice, so I didn't want to pass up the Hanamachi Rikki, but while I found the tart rhubarb refreshing, it fell flat when placed next to the Omakase. While I enjoyed the music choices, he did not and it was also INCREDIBLY dark/moody which isn't our preference, but makes sense for the intimate vibe they are clearly going for.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since they are located right about Ogawa (also amazing)! We tried the omakase cocktail, which was really fun and creative. Although if I'm paying $25 for a drink, I do expect a bit more of a presentation... The scallop crispy rice was absolutely a favorite, we had to order two! The toro was also a standout, although how can you go wrong with toro, uni, and caviar? The wagyu dog itself was great, but the roll it was on was dry. In my opinion, the bread makes or breaks a sandwich, so points off for that one. The ambiance was cozy, if a little dark at times. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive and gave us good recommendations on what to order. I will absolutely be back for the crispy rice alone!

The edamame was standard, and the takoyaki and pan-fried dumplings didn't taste homemade. Rather they both reminded me of what you would pick up at the frozen section at the food market. Nevertheless, they were passable. After all, we were here for the ramen. I opted in for their Terakawa special. The broth was flavourful, and the chashu was the most tender and juicy chashu I've ever had. As for the girlfriend, she opted in for their spicy ramen which was also spectacular. I absolutely loved her wavy noodles. I would have loved to have swapped out my straight noodles for her wavy noodles. They have a nice bounce and slightly chewy texture. Their marinated eggs were to die for. We put in a few extra orders for these. Overall, a great experience.
