COVID-19 Takeout Review I called ahead to pickup an order at Nori and they told me they would take 10% off if I paid with cash upon pickup. They have created a barrier between the restaurant and the pickup area. I felt very safe picking up and paying for our food. We ordered the Tuna amazing roll, cucumber avocado roll, kani salad, shrimp shumai and miso soup. All the items were really good. We would definitely order from Nori Sushi again.

What do you do when you're too stressed to cook due to 3 months social distancing by yourself, crazy news of your city being burned down and 400 years of racial suppression? Order sushi. Nori is close to my apartment so I opted for them. They have a little doggy door once you enter the restaurant where they keep the staff totally separated from the customers. My order was done on time and I felt safe picking it up. When I got home, I was happy to find everything just how I ordered it. I'm looking forward to returning during these troubling times, as well as in real life haha

Good service and amazing food. We ordered tempura for appetizers and it was crunchy and so flaky. One of the best tempuras I've had in a while. Then we had 3 rolls, tuna amazing, shichima salmon and crystal diamonds. The Schichima Salmon was my favorite!. The crystal diamond was good too. All in all, I would go back to Nori for their fresh and unique rolls.

    Staple in the sushi!!!

Discovered a STAPLE in my sushi. The restaurant was absolutely not apologetic. They refused to refund the whole order and would only offer a refund the one roll because the rest of the order was "fine" - not that anyone wanted to eat anything else after seeing it. I typically would not come for a small business online, but the response we received from the manager was absolutely inexcusable. No apology was offered until we made a comment about feeling disrespected. Had the management been more apologetic or understood how dangerous a situation like this could have been, we might have returned.

Very nice and clean place. Beautiful presentation. Very fresh sashimi especially the white tuna. The ginger salad dressing is pretty good. I went to this place because it offers chocolate soufflé for dessert. I asked how long it would take to prepare it because I know it takes a while to make it. The waitress said it wouldn't take long because it's premised. I was disappointed that it's not freshly made so I decided not to order. That's why I took a star down.

I've been here before pre-Covid and I must say the set up inside to pick up is very safe. I also like the incentive to pay in cash and receive 10% off! I ordered three sushi rolls and an order of spring rolls. All of the rolls were tasty and fresh. I appreciated the rolls being packaged separately but they did get slightly smushed as seen in the picture.

New Restaurant in the hood (less than 6 months). I am skeptical on taking my friends and family to a restaurant that I have never tried before and this being so new I still did not get a chance to try it. But thanks to my Elite yelpers who gave me confidence through their reviews on taking a crew of 8 members to this place and must say none of us were disappointed. It is a small - medium size restaurant, very neat and polite staff. It is BYOB. It has a good variety of sushi, sashimi, bento box, fried rice. We started with Dumpling soup, green salad and Edamame. Soup was awesome. Ordered wide variety of Sushi and specialty rolls - Striped Bass, Eel, Mackerel, Shrimp, Crabmeat, Fireworks roll, super dynamite roll, surf n turf roll and Godzilla Roll. Everything was very fresh and delicious. It took a while to get the order so highly recommend munching on some of those apps while the sushi gets prepared. Overall I found the atmosphere very calm, non-chaotic and clean!!!!

My friend and I were looking for something to fill our hungry bellies after an intense work out. But, nothing heavy on a hot, humid, summer day... Nomi Sushi to the breach. Thank you fellow Yelpers! Amazing selection. Fresh fish. Big portions. Attentive service. Great prices. We couldn't believe how much we ate for $20 each including tip. They even have a loyalty card. I will definitely be back!

Had a great time at Nori sushi. They have a beautiful and clean interior and are great for street/people watching with their large windows. The avocado salad was rather large for the price and was fresh. I've gotten 1/3 of the salad for the same price (and more!) at other local restaurants. Their sushi is sizable as well - 8 pieces served with your standard pickled ginger and wasabi. The staff is rather attentive and kind. Our server was very accommodating and came to check up on us and refill water often. And finally, they have 10% off if you pay in cash! This place is such a steal for the price, the atmosphere, and the service. I'll surely be back soon.

I enlisted a little help with trying to find a sushi spot that would serve the right amount of ambiance and delicious cuisine. Nori Sushi delivered! I will only touch on the decor and music for a bit because time and attention is definitely needed for the food. The decor was simple yet modern and the music was a unique twist on newer songs. On to the food... For appetizers, we ordered the Shrimp Shumai, Fried Calamari, and the Rock Shrimp. These were excellent choices that were fried just right. Often times, I notice there is an excess of grease left on the food and they are not allowed to rest before being served. Nori Sushi has this just right. It was clear the dishes were prepared fresh and allowed to rest so the flavors weren't overwhelmed with the taste of grease. Further, they were flash fried and not allowed to swim for too long. It was my first time having Shrimp Shumai; I highly recommend it. Rolls: Our sushi selection included: Spicy Tuna Roll, Aloha Roll, Holy Crab, and the Spider Roll. The classic Spicy Tuna Roll was good. I was not wow'd or deterred. It was prepared as it should be. No frills. The Aloha Roll, as implied includes some Hawaiian themes (pineapples), was comprised of salmon and tuna. The Holy Crab was filled with crab (soft shell and spicy) wrapped in soy paper. The mango that complimented the roll was sweet yet light. It was probably my favorite roll of the night's selection. The Spider Roll was your classic soft shell crab roll but was prepared perfectly. The flavors were delicious and refreshing and the presentation was novel. I can't wait to return and try more of the rolls. I would definitely recommend a visit to Nori Sushi or ordering take out, which seemed to be a big hit during our visit. Happy eating!

Friendly service, nice ambiance (especially once the music came on), and good sushi and sashimi! We stopped in on a Thursday evening and decided to dine in. We were the only table at that time and there was no music playing so at first the atmosphere felt a little strange; however, while we ordered and then ate, the dining room filled up, the music came on, and at least a handful of individuals came through for take out. The seaweed salad appetizer was plentiful. The pork gyoza was good--could have spent a little more time in the pan. The sushi and sashimi bowl ordered by my table were beautiful in their presentation and overall quite tasty. Definitely plan to return. Note: Current promotion is 10% off for dine-in!

Great takeout spot for sushi takeout in the city! I was happy to find everything just how I ordered it when I got home. I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi Combo and it was very fresh and delicious. Convenient location and affordable pricing. I'll be ordering from here again!

I loved the starter and mid course palate "resets" (included in overall 18 course count). The inclusion of two final desserts was also appreciated as other omakase experiences in Philly are sushi only. The tamagoyaki is amazing so hopefully it'll be on the menu when you dine! The atmosphere was quiet, only two others dining at omakase with our party of five. The drink server was dressed in traditional Japanese clothing and was mostly invisible, yet present. It felt too intimate to be snapping away so pictured is the menu as of Jan 15 and the final bite - the persimmon cheese cake. Royal's announcement on they starting to take reservations, a few months ago, immediately had me in stalker mode. I set a calendar reminder, waited for the day, hopped on & bang- success!! Another Philly weekend awaited, Yea! We arrived at Royal (apologies on review delay, circa April 11), for our 8:30pm high top table reservation. We were greeted and seated immediately- right side corner table ready. It's very dim in Royal, small but mobile and a bit noisy. Nothing unexpected. Skating over service, but they are so noteworthy. Our server was attentive, kind and helpful. They HUSSLE here to bus and clear tables. Timing for patrons arriving and being sat was like it was scripted, it was so flawless. No one waiting at the entrance corridor on arrival. Machine precision. Now, our meal- I'm drooling in my daydreams over it. We tried many plates & loved the portion size to be able to do so. The chicken wings- crisp, thick golden fried and tender. The toro with caviar- silk. A touch of brine, a melt in your mouth pleasure. The grilled octopus had an unassuming spice, mellow char and just the right consistency of chew. My husband ordered a surprise- I was scared. Fish heads. WTF, ok here we go. The plate came- heads on heads, quite the portion. This fish- first bite down, intimidation gone. This is one of the best things we've ever eaten. Succulent, moist fall apart whitefish. Didn't even taste like it was battered, no thickness to the breading. It tasted fried but so clean it didn't make sense how good it was. I don't have words. And now we get to the sushi- and I go completely mute.... There is no description worthy here. We had the Dragon Roll and the Spicy Crab Tempura roll. Can we call them the "Die and gone to heaven rolls". Fall apart fresh. Quality. Restrained, but pronounced. Pure. Insane. How can you describe food you will always remember. Except in having passion and a simple happy heart. This is what Royal gave us- in a sushi roll and a fish head. Thanks Jesse and team- simply the best!

One thing though, the restaurant was surprisingly hard to find because there really isn't much signage on the entrance/door. But there's a paper lantern outside, so if you see that, you're in the right place. I had really high expectations coming here and thankfully I wasn't disappointed, although nothing completely blew me away except for the Aka Taka roll. The chirashi bowl was solid overall and had good quality cuts of fish for $52. Everything tasted fresh and balanced, but next time I think I'd personally just order the sakedon instead. The chasu bao also wasn't really worth the $14 in my opinion. It was still good, just not something memorable or mind blowing. Same with the wagyu steak, for $38, it honestly just tasted like a really good steak, and the portion was a little smaller than I expected. My favorite appetizer was definitely the miso eggplant. Such a unique combination of flavors and the eggplant was cooked incredibly soft and well. It almost tasted like a sweet potato with the miso on top, and I would absolutely order it again. But the standout of the night was easily the Aka Taka roll. For a $27 roll, I had very high expectations and somehow they were all met. The roll was stuffed with different cuts of tuna that were unbelievably soft and buttery, and there was this crunch in the middle, maybe daikon? Whatever it was, it added the perfect texture. Honestly, it's something I'd go back just for.

The restaurant itself is super cute small, cozy, and BYOB (definitely bringing a bottle next time). It was pretty empty when we went, which we didn't mind at all. It gave a relaxed vibe, though the service was a little slow. That said, it worked out since we ordered a variety of dishes and weren't in a rush. Linda was our server--very nice and attentive. What we ordered: Spicy edamame: really good, great flavor to start Miso black cod two pieces, but thick, flaky, and buttery with a slightly sweet sauce and shredded carrots. Taste a piece of the fish with the carrots. Yummmm Oyster uni spoon: a standout. The roe bursts in your mouth and the flavor melted together! Made my taste buds happy! sooooo good!!! Fried oysters: nice and crunchy, really good. The sauce drizzled over the cabbage pulled it all together Tuna Tango roll - looked nice, but just okay. Didn't do much for my taste buds Sushi burger - delicious!!! Everything worked together and it looked really cool too!
