This place may be OK for kids haircuts but they charge premium salon prices for haircut, $42 without a tip, that was worse than any discount hair place. It's ridiculous. An older woman cut my hair and when I got home, it looked like they put a bowl on my head and cut it short under the bowl. My hair was not blended at all. She didn't listen to how I told her I wanted it cut she just cut it the way she wanted to. Will absolutely never be back. The staff was not really friendly and seemed bored & disinterested. Understaffed Every time I'm there usually only 2 chairs operating. I was promised easy access when i signed for the premium VIP monthly charge. WRONG! Nearly impossible to get scheduled for the services promised. And equipment is 2nd rate for the sinks, hot water, foot soak and nail care. JT is 5 stars but he's not there much. Another GOOD operator is Amy but not there much or when I've asked. The other guy I've had cut my hair seemed more interested in his lunch brake or jabbing with some other guy hanging around there than paying attention to my hair. Therefore, I recommend that prospective customers now pass up on making use of this Lake Travis men's barber service. Recently, There are salient issues about both making, fulfilling scheduled appointments and appropriate level of managerial attention for quality customer service. Recently, I note that some of the establishment staff apparently make use of this barber facility as their daycare for their children. This is disappointing for customers seeking a quality set of professional barber services, without these distractions. Customers pay for barber services, not observe noisy children who want to engage in play.this fact seems to be ignored by the manager. This once WAS a great men's barber shop, I think, no longer. I am disappointed, as I have made use of this service for about a year. I am now canceling my annual subscription agreement and will find a better managed alternative. I would not recommend anyone use this, until management makes an effort to implement substantive improvements. When I was seen, the lady tried to get me to leave before washing my hair. When she did eventually wash it, she didn't even properly dry it so I just left with wet hair. The best thing about this place is the shuffle board and the fun decor. The service was very very slow and lacking. They clipper cut my 11 year olds hair in 3 minutes and it was terrible. We even showed the lady a picture of his last haircut and the finished cut was nothing like it. I am taking him to another place to see if they can fix it until it grows out. I scheduled an appointment for a haircut and beard trim. I showed up 15min early and waited 30 min past my appointment time. They only had 1 stylist working. After waiting 45min he calls a guy back who walked in 15min after me. Really guys!!! WTF? Why have an appointment system if you can't honor the scheduled time??? They may have great cuts. My husband and sons have been coming to this location for 2 years but recently it's been harder for us to get in. You can't make an apt without a membership. I inquired about memberships for my 12 and 14 year old, only to be told that my 14 year old is considered an adult and would have to pay $130/month. I have been a customer off and on for a couple of years. I usually get good results. I really like the concept and like the atmosphere. Recently when my barber left for other employment the owner recommended another barber. I went with that but the results were not as expected. She literally gave me a "bob" haircut. Really? On a 50 year old man, not a good look, or on any man for that matter! I returned to see if they could fix it, another girl tried but made it worse. After 5 days my wife asked me to go back and speak to the original barber. She was not so nice and wanted me to pay for an new haircut because I waited 5 days. I got into it with her and got angry and said to her "you're the one that fucked this up"! When I spoke to the owner, he was given another story that I cussed them out. Not true! He was one damn cocky jerk and could not understand that maybe the customer is right this time. After reading the other posts, this guy should never interact with the public. Been going to tuneup for years now. Started at the main location in the Houston area and then moved out to Austin. The location is nice, people are great, but they do not honor appointments unless you are a "VIP". So even if you schedule an appointment on their app, it means nothing. Tune-up offers a VIP program that allows people to cut in front of people that are waiting regardless of how long that it is... okay cool, not an issue. I've been going to their shops for a year now, and I don't enroll in the VIP program because I tip my barbers 100% and id rather take care of them directly. That's fine, that's my decision. I'm okay with that. Today, I went in and was told there's a cut in line after about 30 minutes of waiting. That's fine, annoying, but again fine because I don't pay for VIP. Once again, I am cool with that. The owner Wes and I have had several chats in the past, and when I asked if this was conducive to business, instead of getting a calm and professional response; I got,"well then join VIP if you don't want to wait". I told him that I really don't appreciate his demeanor or the delivery of the message to which he responds,"well, when you figure out a better way let me know". Super condescending to someone who has not only taken care of his barbers but also put money directly into his pocket. So here you go man, here's the better way. As a business owner I understand the benefits of repeated income monthly to future investor attraction. As a business owner I understand that some people are going to have their toes stepped on. As a business owner, I also understand that explaining to clients in a non condescending tone how my business operates when they question the intent is very important. I don't care about the premium service offering, I get it. Trust me. But for someone who has left money at your establishment for a long time now consistently to be treated with such a distasteful approach shows so much about your character. Your barbers are fantastic, and I would never take anything away from them, but I can't leave my money at a business that doesn't respect its regulars. So came in to get a simple top and beard trim. 40 mins after I got there for my scheduled appointment I was finally seen by someone that clearly didn't belong in a hair salon. Clumsy and uneven cutting followed by awkward seat moving to wash my hair and countless "how does thing look?" questions. Didn't expect a simple trim to be so complicated. After about an hour I was offered to spike my hair since I mentioned wanting to try that. After working the paste into my hair the lady realized she hadn't cut an entire portion of my hair. And then proceeded to do so as hair clumpy hair from the paste fell all over my shirt since the apron was removed at this time. "I'm just so tired today!" Then you probably shouldn't be cutting someone's hair and charging them $50 for something super cuts could do better. For those that care Erin was the so called stylist. That he needed to go to a barber to get the cut I was asking for, so when I complained at the girl at the register she recommended this incredible person Elena and she actually finished the job and I was so happy with the cut....She herself was very upset that this other women used that excuse in order to stop cutting Lazarus hair.... Brought my 14yr old and 13yr old boys in for an adult haircut. Brandon was next available, so my son Caden went with him. Brandon seemed irritated from the beginning which already made me uncomfortable. When my son was done he asked me why Brandon didn't wash out his hair and use a hot towel like my other son got. I asked Brandon and he said its not standard and that he gave my son a child cut. I simply asked the cashier to make sure that my charge was adjusted to a child's cut from an adult charge. When done I didn't feel like tipping Brandon due to his negative attitude. We walked outside, got into my truck and as I was backing away I saw Brandon standing 5 feet in front of my truck giving me a "thumbs-up" - clearly upset that we didn't tip him. As I was sitting there evaluating the extremely uncomfortable situation I wondered... would this guy do this to my wife? Would he do the same to a single mother? If so, would they also feel threatened or intimidated? I am 43 years old - never once have I had someone come outside in an act of intimidation because I didn't tip them. I will not only never come back - I will share this incident on Yelp and with the local people that I know. They offered half off the second time, so I tried again with a different barber.
