My exposure to this business was less than a minutes, but so telling. Called and asked for a quote. Got a price range instead. That's a major red flag for a mechanic. If they can't tell you a solid, to the dollar price for a specific repair. Then they'll play games and you could be spending the top dollar or higher. They could make things up. You already know the game It also felt like, "here's a general response because I don't feel like doing it..." So, rude! Yeah. Too many red flags with this place. I can't say we haven't had our problems, but I can say they have always sent me home with a win/win in hand. Since they have always been square with me, I end up back here for just about everything i can't do myself on my car. They also helped me get a car passed inspection, with some great and specific instructions and methods to help me pass. I dig these guys. read more

I am indeed a fan of Tunex in Woods Cross. I've been taking my '91 Accord here for a few years now and they have never done me wrong. Just this morning I took The Champ (my car) in because she was having some transmission troubles. Unfortunately they were not able to fix the problem, mainly diagnose but gave me a great recommendation for someone who can fix it and didn't charge me for anything. The employees are super nice and respectful. I'm a girl and sometimes I am a bit weary of mechanics being honest. But these guys do a great job and are decently priced. The only downside I guess is that they don't do much transmission work. Other than that...Tunex in Woods Cross rocks the casbah. read more

I would definitely recommend these guys. They are straight with you, and do a decent job with prices and timelines. The owner/manager seems to like to interact with each customer, which is nice. They have a full spectrum of services, including the ability to renew your registration. This is nice because if you live on the South end of Davis county, it is quite a drive to the DMV. Hopefully, I won't need to, but I'll go back in the future when the old car has problems. read more

We're on a roadtrip from California to Colorado. Spent the night in Woods Cross, UT, and in the morning discovered that one of our rear taillights (including the turn signal) was completely out. We had been planning on going to an Auto Zone, but a couple blocks from the hotel we happened to spot this Tunex, and stopped there first to see if they could sell us a lamp for the car. Well, they took the car away for 5 minutes, came back and said it was done and only charged us 5 bucks for it!! Amazing service. The only other comment I have is that their driveway / entrance is kinda tricky... but totally worth it. We're back on on our way to Colorado with barely a dent in our travel time. I have only used Tunex 2 times and both for small things, but I have been impressed with their fairness and service both times. The first time I had just purchased a vehicle and wanted to have them inspect it before my buyers remorse period was over and the price was very fair and their inspection was detailed and accurate. The second time my car wouldn't start so we had it towed over but when it got there they weren't able to replicate the issue, but because I insisted they did a full inspection including driving it on the freeway and running it for a long time to see if it was a heat issue. All of this checking cost me only their diagnostic fee of $26, and the only possible issue they found was that my negative battery wires were a bit loose so they did some cleaning and tightening, and didn't charge me anything for it. It was obviously a quick easy thing but I would expect just about anyone to charge me for that since it did take a tech some amount of time to work. I had received quotes from them for some other work in the past and it was pretty high (just shy of double what another shop across the street did it for) so we did it elsewhere, so it sounds like some things are pricey here, but others that they specialize in are very reasonable. Of course that is why you should always get multiple quotes when getting work done. read more

I can honestly say this is my favorite shop. Recently had work done on my crap car and as usual they went above and beyond and worked late to get it done under crazy conditions. Well considering I am from another state I was worried about what would happen to my car being away from my trusted auto shop. I had heard from a friend to come here and boy am I glad I did. Usually being a young female places try to rip me off left and right. Or they don't tell me everything that they are doing/going to do and just charge me. The gentleman that helped me was very open about the prices with me and made sure I was ok with them before moving forward. When he found out the first main problem with my car he called me over, took me to look under my car and showed me exactly what had happened and how he was going to fix it. He was very honest in telling me that it wouldn't be a long term fix but that's perfectly fine :) He kept me informed the whole way, especially before making any further plans.
