I suspect they ran out of pork and made the Substitute without asking. Little to no way 2/2 were "mistakes" Spent $31 on 2 incorrect dishes and one egg roll. Also, flavor was lacking compared to other places and previous experiences at this one. Do better. read more

People recommended this place so we took a ride for lunch. Food- I often judge Chinese food by the ribs- soup-egg rolls The ribs were like nothing I've ever seen in a Chinese restaurant. Roughly 2-3 inches long and there was tough meat below the bone. Seems like they just poured sauce on some boiled ribs. The soup had zero taste with two small wontons that weren't too bad. The egg rolls seemed like something from the frozen food department at the supermarket. Lunch special you had a choice- either soup or egg roll. I had roast pork chow mein with plain fried rice- it looks more like brown rice, no egg-scallions-pork mixed in. The service was fine as we were the only people in the restaurant. BTW if you want tea you have to ask for it. Server was a nice guy but the place has zero ambiance. read more

Ordered some take out from this local Chinese place. We ordered the food through the phone and pickup was for 40 minutes later (our order was big). Everything we ate was what you would expect of American Chinese food - salty, garlicky, and the subtle hint of the wok. The fried rice was good compared to others I've had in the area and they included mushrooms in the rice. The one downfall of this place is the spicy food not being spicy at all. One couldn't tell at all that this item on the menu had a pepper symbol by its name. 6 years I stayed away from this place because of bad reviews. Tonight I thought of trying it since it's still open all this time. Just ordered the beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice, diced chicken with cashew nuts and an egg roll. The prices are more expensive than my normal Chinese restaurant and they charge a $5 delivery fee without mentioning to me - then I was asked if I want to leave a tip for the driver. Not nice. I had to pry the information out of her. And on top of all that, they charge a fee to use your credit card. The food came quick, the only highlight of this adventure. Food was not good at all. Chicken tasted like beef, all the same texture (rubbery), no real flavor of sauces, barely any chicken in the fried rice, the cashew nut meal was tasteless and dry all around. I guess I can agree with the rest of these negative reviews that this place was not good at all. Food went straight in the garbage and $55 straight in the toilet. read more

Unless ownership has changed, I think I know who owns this restaurant, as I think I went to school with the family's daughter. Of course, I digress. Honestly, I was satisfied with the food here. Everything tasted fresh and had great flavor. The prices are pretty fair as well. It also helps that they deliver in the area so you do not have to get out and get this as soon as you get home from work. The portion sizes are also quite generous as you will definitely have leftovers. I know when my mother and I ordered here, we did. I've been searching for a good Chinese takeout place in this area and I think I've found what I've been looking for. We dined in and ordered tangerine chicken, veg lo mein, and Singapore Mei fun noodles. If you dine in, you get complimentary wonton chips. Be aware. They are addictive. The tangerine chicken packs a punch! Very tasty, crispy and you definitely get the flavor. The lo mein was really fresh, not greasy, seasoned with. My Singapore Mei fun noodles we're ordered with fried tofu instead of meat and they were well done and full of flavor. I was pretty happy with my experience. The prices were fair, about what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. The service was friendly and fast. It doesn't get too packed on a weeknight but it's still busy. The only downside I would say is that there aren't a ton of vegetarian options. read more

I'm afraid this will be our last visit to this restaurant. With the original owners, we were here at least once/week. For years after the original owners left, we would come occasionally. It seems that with every year that passes the food becomes more disappointing. We ordered pickup and got a couple of basic dishes and some soup. The best way to describe the food was watery. Everything tasted watered down. Like they made the soup and threw in some water to stretch it out. Same with the chicken dish. And the fried rice actually had a little heat in it!? That is not the norm and made it inedible for a member. Sadly the quality and the taste of the food had gone way downhill. In addition, the restaurant itself is kind of a mess, there is stuff piled everywhere. We officially recycled our menus which is sad because we've been coming here for 30+ years. read more

This is probably the best Chinese takeout restaurant in central Jersey. My family has been ordering food from Tung Hsing House ever since I was a kid (I am now 26)... and I will still make an effort to eat here when back in town. The food still is delicious after all these years. The meat in the dishes tastes authentic, real, and juicy rather than the normal stringy, rubbery meat you get from most asian takeout spots. For entrees, I would strongly suggest trying some broccoli + meat in garlic sauce dish. The broccoli here is amazing. Never thought I could be so excited to eat broccoli... until I tried Tung Hsing House. Standard Chinese takeout foods are delicious as well. They make an amazing General Tso's chicken, lo mein, fried rice, etc. Definitely give this spot a try if you're in the area. read more

The apps we got were not good. The spare ribs were dry and overcooked. The egg roll was over fried, while the crab rangoon were under fried. The steamed dumplings were mushy and doughy, and the dipping sauce was oddly spicy. The scallion pancakes were too thick. Wife thought the chicken and garlic had too much celery. However, the veg lo mein was good and the general tsao's was absolutely FANTASTIC. Like, this is my favorite dish I order everywhere and this was the best I've ever had good. Awesome Chinese restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious! The sesame chicken was one of the best sesame chickens, I've ever had! Really tangy, and the chicken was nice and tender! The spring rolls we got as an appetizer were nice and crispy, and had a great deal of vegetables! The service was very good as well, fast and friendly!
