My wife and I were looking for a new Chinese restaurant in the area since 'The Orient' on Marlboro on Rt 9 closed down. We have been to a few places, but haven't found a place we like. This is a very old school Chinese restaurant. We found the food to pretty good and the prices are very reasonable. They have a dinner special which is $38 for 2 people. With tax and tip, you are looking at around $47. You each get a soup, appetizer, share a main entree and ice cream. This past Saturday we ate there. We each had eggdrop wonton mixed soup. Standard soup, good, but nothing special. We had BBQ spareribs and Chicken Brochettes. Both were great. The Brochette are chunks of Chicken thigh meat grilled on a stick, marinated in some sort of red marinade. The BBQ ribs are chineses bbq ribs. The entre was called Happy Family. It was a monstrous platter of Chicken, Pork, Shrimp and the usual Chinese vegetables, in a brown sauce with a bunch of fried wontons on top. Very good. I love this place. I've been here several times to meet my cousin and it's always great. The lunch specials which are in the pictures are like $12 and you get a nice selection. Wow! Great food, service, and extremely reasonable! Found it on a whim and gave it a shot and we are so glad we did. I only took a picture of half an egg roll but as you can see it's huge. The flavor was great. The wontons in the soup were obviously homemade. Chow mein was authentic chow mein NOT like Los Angeles (made with noodles). It was in a gravy and absolutely fabulous! While our waiter was attentive and we did order an incorrect item, which they did fix no charge, eve4yone was very nice and eager to please. But...I'm sorry. There is way too much cornstarch or rice starch or whatever thickener in the sauces. The fried rice was fine. The won ton soup was fine. Having an option of brown rice was fine. But the sauce for my shrimp in lobster sauce was not very flavorful and it was " gooey" and thick. This is a nice place to eat. The price is good. It's not a strip mall feeling place. I loved the boneless spareribs here. Truly awesome. The steamed dumplings were good and the egg roll was big and delicious. Loved the home made duck sauce. The problems came with the entrees. General chicken was all white meat and cut into long strips. No crunch and very dry. I didn't love the sauce either. The chicken with veg was bland. So was the veg lo mein, and the noodles were very thin. Orange beef was the best thing we ordered. So great apps but disappointing mains. We have been running out of Chinese takeout options in the area, and have been widening our search and driving to other towns in search of a takeout place to really rely upon Chung sing hit the mark on our first pickup order, we got the special porkchops, tchi-thichicken, chicken and broccoli and then spare ribs, crab Rangoon and some egg rolls Avoid the egg rolls at all costs, they pretty much came soaked in oil to the point it was actually leaking through the plastic and paper bag and into our car Everything else hit it off, the meats were not rubbery like some other places and the portion sizes were great for the price - our only minor gripe was that the broccoli was overdone and soft instead of crisp (not a huge deal but notable) Even with the minor hiccups of the egg rolls and soft broccoli it's still a shining star of a restaurant Will definitely be returning again and trying more things on the menu - I think we have found our new spot ! read more

Local strip center Chinese American that has been there for decades. Owners changed a number of years ago and we changed to another restaurant, then decided to return to try an old friend. Seems like they updated the decor. Menu is typical, no surprises. This is not a fancy gourmet restaurant, it's a neighborhood place to get your Chinese fix. We stayed with the typical combination plates, nice and inexpensive, about $14 for soup, egg roll, fried rice and a selection of about a dozen dishes, and ice cream. Nice sized portions. read more

What is going on with Chung Sing? Got food this week and it was not good. Ribs were dry and overcooked, pork fried rice had no pork and no vegetables, egg foo young was bland and smaller portion and general Cho had No broccoli! Very disappointed. This is very unusual. Used to call it "local" when I lived in Old Bridge. It is just as I remembered. Good smooth silky egg drop soup, great tasting wontons and broth. This is one of the last OG Chinese restaurants that still serve chicken in foil! Soooo good! Food is good, great service. Happy I stopped in while in the area. read more

I've been going to Chung Sing for as far as I can remember. Food was always great. Unfortunately, my last couple of visits have been disappointing. The vegetable fried rice was grainy. This is the second time we tried this place and regretted doing so. The food was edible but flavorless. The orange beef had no red chili peppers and no orange peel. Instead I found pineapple and a maraschino cherry in my food. The beef was not crispy. The flavor was bland. The other chicken dishes ordered were just as tasteless. The portion size was generous. American Chinese food done right I have been going to this Chinese restaurant for about ten years now. It's simply the best in central Jersey. I rarely eat in, the décor is typical and the place is clean. They do not deliver, but trust me, it's worth the trip. My favorites are: The pork fried rice, beef lo mein, and the boneless ribs. I wound up ordering through door dash as our normal Chinese place was closed. We now have a new go to place for Chinese food. My husband and I both got the generals chicken. The only possible ding would be that there was no broccoli. The flavors are on point, So flavorful and the portion size was so large I'll have the rest for lunch tomorrow. My family has been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years and I was very disappointed in our last visit. They served bad shrimp and then refused to take it back. I've tried other Chinese restaurants in the area and this is the one I enjoy the most. Their food is fresh and tasty; I do not have a preference when it comes to ordering. Very nice quiet restaurant. They have the best crunchy noodles anywhere!! Give me some duck sauce & I can eat them for dinner..lol!! Best Chinese food spot I'd say in NJ. I'm extremely picky on my Chinese spots. The sesame chicken is legit chicken- like you cut it and it's sliced chicken. Not all bread crumbs or a color meat that's questionable. Pure white meat . I also love they're chicken noodle soup. My family always orders their shrimp egg foo young, pork fried rice and the Lo mein. I am also newly obsessed with their steamed vegetable dumplings. They put this delicious sesame sauce over them and omg. My family and I also enjoy the chicken in tin foil. I even buy some extra pieces to give my cats and my dog they go nuts for it. We order from this place at least once a week and eat in here maybe 2 times a month. Hands down favorite place. The service is very kind and funny. Prices are also not to argue with. They're specials on the weekends are fantastic and the lunch buffet for $8 is pretty satisfying. They put out a lot of the typical stuff. But to conclude- gotta go here.
