Went to this restaurant today to buy some roast pork for lunch. Didn't want to go there because of past experience but I didn't have a choice since I was pressed for time. The restaurant looked like a regular bbq place with meats hanging at the window so what can go wrong? Maybe it got better since my last visit a couple years ago... WRONG! When I ordered a piece of lean uncut roast pork, the counter guy tried to give me a fatty piece. I rejected it and asked for another piece. It wasn't until I got home, I discovered that he hid the fatty end part of the same piece at the bottom of the container. The pork was tasteless; bbq flavor was weak. AVOID! Let me start by saying that my family and I have been loyal customers to this restaurant for YEARS! We always come here for the roast meats for dinner, big events, praying and major holidays. We never had a problem with this restaurant until today. I came to order a pound of roast pork for the Lunar New Year. In the Chinese culture, this piece of roast pork is used for praying and to bring luck for the new year. EVERY Chinese restaurant knows this and expects people to buy the roast pork for this reason. I placed my order for the roast pork like everyone did on line and it came out to $17.00. I was in a rush and didn't look at the meat until I got home because I assumed it would be a good piece since I always come here and never had an issue. Once I got home, I opened the box and they gave me the worst possible cut of the roast pork. I paid the same price as everyone else on line and they gave me the piece NO ONE wants. First, they KNOW this is used to pray with and gave me a piece that didn't have any crispy skin on it. It is like this restaurant is giving us bad mojo for the new year. It is disgusting and bad business practice on their end. I am never coming back ever again. Now I have to go back out and spend more money on another order. I will be going back to complain after the Lunar New Year. The old lady at the cashier is also very rude and always has a nasty attitude too. She's always yelling at the staff and customers so I'm not expecting much of a sorry or compensation from them. My family and I are super pissed off and livid they would do this for Lunar New Year. Any restaurant would either throw this piece away or keep for themselves instead of selling it to their customers. If this wasn't meant to be used for praying, I wouldn't be as annoyed. Came here to get BBQ Pork (Char Siu) as I did not feel like going to my regulars on 8th Ave in Brooklyn and Wah Fung #1 in Manhattan is closed till further notice per renovations. I live in the neighborhood and pass by a lot but never really stopped in to try till today. They only had BBQ which was actually good and succulent. Service was quick and friendly. Ran by here looking for roast pork and roast duck. Grabbed both and asked for the fattier portions. Good flavors! Too bad their inside seating is still closed. And as the server told me, once they sell out of the meats, they close regardless of the time. So I guess I was lucky to go before they closed. (Which they told me on this random Saturday evening, they were closing at 6pm or 7pm)! Christmas is over and the last thing I wanted is anymore left over lasagna, potato pie, meatballs...at least for a few weeks! I went to the Salt Marsh for my second walk this morning. Now I'm hungry and decided to come to Tung Tung. I got the roast pork and chicken. The chicken is sooo perfectly done, soft and moist, literally melts in your mouth. The pork is also tender with a nice bark and not too sweet or over fatty. You get a nice helping of veg and they always ask if you want sauce.. yes please! This was a delicious lunch and will certainly hold me till dinner time. The place is clean, they have a partition between you and them when you order and pay. Very nice people too read more

Good food. Good food!! The serving starts at 7 AM. Their fried rice is the best I have had in Brooklyn or anywhere in the city. Only some places in San Francisco have fried rice as good. (Such as Sam Wo). The portions of each entree are enough for two people to eat and be satisfied. You must try any of their fried rice dishes. So good! Cost is $8.00 Beef lo mein ($9.00) is also a five star dish. It tastes so good. Quality ingredients are used. I know Chinese food and can tell that quality ingredients are used. My wife cooks Chinese for me and she also can taste the quality ingredients. Also had the simple dish of roast pork over rice. Whatever they did to it made it better than other restaurants. Karen says that it is the soy sauce. That is what she says makes her Chinese meals so good. Another large portion. The price is $5.00! These people work hard and put quality ingredients in their food and charge less than other Chinese restaurants. I compared their prices, including the prices to the restaurant across the street. I think they care about their business and try harder. Bathroom was clean. The service was good. The lady who was managing was very helpful and showed extra concern for our satisfaction. We were happy to leave her a generous tip. They are cash only. Why four stars? Nobody spoke much English. I had trouble speaking with anyone on the staff. It seems that no one knows any English. Even the manager spoke a few words of English. I do not speak any Chinese. I hope that they can hire one person who speaks some English. Cantonese food. It's a reasonable price place. They are known for their congee. Seafood was good. For dinner my group order a whole roasted pig ($138) soooo good. But it needs to be pre ordered. Not very fancy but definitely worth it. My fav is the chive with duck's blood (it's a Chinese thing) don't order if you don't know what it is. I ordered a thousand year egg congee, with a sweet fried crueler & char siu wrapped in rice noodle. The congee was yummy but doesn't compare to the ones on 86 street which are cheaper and smoother. Which probably means Tung Tung adds less corn starch to their congee. The fried crueler was perfect - crunchy, sweet, fresh and a great addition to eat with my congee. The char siu wrapped in rice noodle was a mistake... both to eat and the cashiers bc I originally ordered a beef one. The meat was flavorless, the rice noodle was cold, and the only thing giving it flavor was the soy sauce. Would come back for congee when I'm in the area. read more

They put 驰名烧腊 (Well known Chinese BBQ) on their menu but they just opened not too long ago so ... that was kinda weird to me. We got takeout from this place and we did not enjoy any of the food. We got a rice with roast pork, char siu(bbq pork), and braised duck. Roast pork was too salty and got too much spices on it; BBQ pork was kind of dry, even though we ask for the fatty part; and the braised duck got so much noticeable feathers on it and not enough flavor. The rice noodles were freshly made. The ambience is very old Chinese style ... so it may not seem appealing or instagram worthy. There's not too many Chinese restaurants in this part of Bensonhurst that are actually "good" except for Good Day Seafood Restaurant. Jin Jin and Blue Sky Jwy aren't legit nor very worthy to me and Blue Sky Jwy is quite expensive in my opinion. When we heard that Tung Tung opened up, boy were we estatic! I'm so happy and glad a legit Chinese restaurant opened in my fiance's neighborhood because some times going down to 86th street can be a true nightmare especially when it comes to parking and double parking. First off, their hours are on their menu and Yelp page are wrong. I have friends and family that have been there past 7PM and they're opened! My fiance and I came here for a sit down breakfast once and there can be quite a wait especially on weekend mornings. I believe the time we went for a sit down breakfast, the wait staff told us they didn't have any fried crullers yet . We ordered our "Tang Jai Jook" (Fisherman's/Sampan congee) and a soy sauce pan-fried noodle. I must admit that their congee feels and tastes slightly different from the ones I usually get a 86 Fu Kee on Bay Parkway. The texture feels different and I must admit when you order take-out from here, they don't give you a lot of ingredients when you get it and it tastes bland-ish too. Their soy sauce pan-fried noodles is decent, but not the best I have had. Honestly, it also feels a little plain too because the last two times I ordered this - it only had chopped mushrooms and bean sprouts (so plain!) Earlier last week, my fiance and I ordered via phone for take-out - Ho Fun with wontons, cha siu and vegetables. My fiance asked specifically for them to separate the noodles and solids from a different container with the soup which they did not when we arrived, so they had to repackage everything! I'm so used to having some yu choy or leafy vegetable typically with my wonton noodle soup. When we were setting up our noodle soups at his home, we discovered that they were pretty cheap with the vegetables and gave us bean sprouts instead! That's hardly a vegetable. Their cha siu and roasted meats are pretty good, but I still prefer the ones from 86th street. Overall, I'm happy that Tung Tung opened up on this side of Bensonhurst. It definitely adds value to the neighborhood. The not-so-great parts of Tung Tung is that they do not serve dim sum except for a few selected cheong fun - that's about it. They also do not have like main dishes you can order typically for a dinner or something of that nature. The service here is okay, perhaps a little forgetful and skimpy at times. It's definitely a good place to come though for a simple breakfast, quick lunch or dinner fix and even to pick up roasted meats on the way home from work. read more

I believe the sign on the establishment claims that they open at 7:30am, but countless times I've been here at 8:30-9am and the fried crullers are always not ready yet. I've only gotten the combination congee and sometimes it has a very fishy taste. The workers here are also not very efficient. They all seem like they are still learning how to do their jobs. Be prepared to wait and be prepared to not be able to get what you came for if you come early in the morning. Just ordered a simple Wonton soup just to give it a try, how bad can it be? OMG! I ordered a take out, so when I got back to the office, the spoon is missing, so I need to compromised only with a folk and chopstick, next thing I found is that all the meat in the wonton already fell out from the Wonton skin, and by just counting the "skin", there might be only 5 of them!! so $5.50 for 5 Wonton (actually is a bowl of soup, meat, shrimp and wonton skin)!! First of all, when me and my family walked in the owners or the waitresses were very stubborn and unkind, secondly after out order it took over 20 minutes for even ONE plate to come out and when i looked into the kitchen the chefs and waitresses were not wearing mask even tho they were talking so i would guess saliva is all over our food, lastly the food was very mediocre and the bathroom was just pure horrid. This place is a typical Cantonese styled restaurant with your basic congees and wonton noodles soup. It also has tasty roast pork, soy sauce chicken and duck hanging on the window display. I've tried many things on the menu and have not been disappointed. Their beef chow fun And Singapore noodles are yummy. It's our family's go to place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We usually take out but there's plenty of space to sit in. Call in for order as they usually take awhile. I'm grateful that we have a such a great place to count on when we want comfort foods in our own neighborhood. Surprised to see the low ratings on this restaurant. They are right that when they first opened they were disorganized and food was inconsistent. Now they are one of our favorites! We always buy takeout and their congee and fried crullers. The congee always has lots of ingredients in addition to the congee. We also order roasted meats and noodles. I've been here a couple times and every single time they fuck up my order. Last time I ordered a pork over rice and they deliberately leave out the skin which is the best part. I had to request it for them to give me the skin. Want to write this review for a while. I ordered food for dinner in the past it was home made. First time to try out a Cantonese restaurant food as I always walk passed there. First time ordered beef rib with egg plant. They gave me the wrong order when I picked it up didn't notice it till I got home had to call and ask them to replace it. The rib and eggplant tasted great like home made. We ordered other dishes there the first two times was good. We ordered there like 6 months ago. Now fast forward, the lady wrote the wrong order and got home it was the wrong order. I ordered eggplant with chicken and salted fish. We got a pungent smell and looked spicy with red chilles there. This can't be what we ordered. Called them back saying that she heard me say eggplant with garlic sauce. She had the audacity to tell me to keep it and eat it and put salted fish in there. I said no we want a replacement. They used the same eggplant and probably rinsed it off and cook it with the favor we wanted how I know that they did it. I saw a black seaweed that was was on the original order on the replacment one that should not have a seaweed. Second we ordered the short rib again and does not taste the same as originally before they added onion and peppers there now. This place is a mess and will not order from them again. I never write reviews but I am fed up with this place. This place is good if you are a chinese speaker. If you are not, then good luck to you my friend. I have come to this spot many times because it is close by. I come here many times hoping they would get better with their service but they haven't. And since I am not a chinese speaker, the service was slower for me even if you are picking up for take outs too. The food is mediocre and with their bad/slow service, you feel like you lose the rest of the flavor from the food you order. This is going to be my last time coming to this place because I am fed up with their slow and bad service to non chinese speakers. I have ordered 2 roast meats over fried rice, not a hard order to understand since that's one of the popular dishes people orders. Not only did they got this wrong, they have an order of my fried rice sitting on the side AFTER it was ready for a good 10-15 minutes while they help out other customers who speaks chinese. The only meat I had was chopped up roast pork cooked in with the fried rice. Then I went to ask for my other meat and they charged me 2 extra dollars after the fact that they got my order wrong and have that same wrong order sitting on the side for a good 10-15 minutes.
