Came back here to treat out my friends who helped with our wedding and new apartment. We got to try quite a few dishes. We got the complimentary scallion balls again which was a big hit with everyone. Snow crab noodles: these were again good and seems to be a standard on the seasonal menu. Pig out: it was not so impressive compared to juicier pork that I've had elsewhere. Not bad though and the peanut noodles did shine through with their chewiness. I think Tuome does noodles very well. Halibut: it was good too and the sauce was interesting like most of the othe sauces. I wish we had bread to soak it up to eat. Scallops: this iteration was in the form of the dumplings and my favorite dish in this meal (tied with the lamb). Lamb: a surprise hit for me. I like lamb but I prefer seafood over meat but this was so tender and flavorful. Those who don't like lamb normally appreciated it as well. Rice: steamed rice with Chinese sausage. I liked this as well but you can get similar versions at cheaper restaurants. Octopus: tender and good too The Cocktails were great too. Tried the east village blossom, blushing Sangria, and the fire in the sky, and you really can't go wrong with any of them. read more

Came here since they've won Michelin 3 years in a row. Ambiance is okay, the service was decent. They were so kind to provide a complimentary scallion pancake appetizer which was really interesting. It tasted like an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese bagel puff. The octopus (3/5) Octopus was a bit chewy, the flavor they paired it with was a potato cream with Chinese sausage bits which was very different Lamb 3/5 This was decent but it didn't justify the price point because it lacked the Michelin flavor I was looking for. Snow crab pasta 3/5 First time having snow crab, tasted pretty fishy, so I wasn't a huge fan. The pasta was good, but I wish there was slightly more flavor/creamier. A great affordable one-star! Came in a group so was able to try a bunch of dishes and the quality and service is pretty solid. The servers are very attentive and dishes come out quickly! Here's a rundown of what we got: -Complimentary scallion bites (3/5): These were complimentary so can't complain, but the bites were light and airy and came with a nice everything-seasoned ricotta. They were a bit oily for me, but was a nice touch. Appetizers -Octopus (4.5/5): Very crispy, just wish it was a bit larger -Quail (5/5): my favorite app! It was so juicy and tender, one of the best quails I have tried -Deviled Eggs (3.5/5): Great deviled egg with such a light and fluffy filling. Liked the crispy touch. Usually I don't go for deviled eggs, but this was one of the better ones I have tried. -Kabocha Squash (5/5): delicious! the squash reduction tasted like a hearty soup that warmed my soul and the pieces of seafood, especially the scallop, were so delicious! -Persimmon (3.5/5): I loved the persimmon itself, but overall was not too impressed by the salad Mains -Branzino (5/5): love love! The branzino was nice and tender and tasted so good with the chowder -Snow crab noodle (4.5/5): a decadent dish with perfectly cooked noodles. The One Michelin Star experience while it comes at a premium is well worth it. At minimum a special occasion or significant milestone with a significant other-this meal would have been worth it. Expand and challenge your palette, treat yourself! Do it once in this economy-you deserve it. While the selection is small (6 appetizer and 5 entrée choices), the meals are each robust in their own rights. I think the Dim Sum Tower and Pig Out both for two with a dessert is a home run date meal, as you can share your food together. The oxtail dumpling in the dim sum tower was EXCELLENT. The pork in the Pig Out had a specific crunch in the same spot of every bite. Yes the Hamachi is raw fish (crudo) but please don't let it scare you off. The quail looked like a glazed mini rotisserie chicken but tastier and richer. The rice side was a pleasant surprise it was sticky and had a mild sweetness along with small bites of sausage. The food was art, tasty art you can eat. The cocktails do not include vodka, tequila etc., but they were refreshing and strong enough to do the trick if you are a light-weight. Note* Gluten & Dairy Free diners: Our waitress initially was not much help here, but upon further conversation was very helpful with suggesting requests and minor substitutions to accommodate. Look up the menu beforehand but do not be afraid to ask. I'd had two near-perfect Restaurant Week experiences here. So why the delay in writing a review? Laziness and procrastination are the most probable answers. Or maybe I was waiting for the third time to be the charm. Since I've now visited as a regular diner, that fruitful day has come and gone, and it's time to give Tuome all the praise it deserves. You really can't go wrong here. I've tried a persimmon and scallop appetizer; a tapioca coconut pudding with berries and almonds; their beignet ice cream "sandwiches" with goat's milk caramel; hell, even complimentary curry lime popcorn. It's all delightful, and proof of the team's inventiveness and impeccable execution in creating culinary magic. During my most recent visit, we got the octopus appetizer. Unsurprisingly, the octopus was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. The fingerling potato "foam" was fluffy and decadent, and the pork XO crumble was also a nice touch. Not sure if that's where the brown butter was, or if it was used to cook the octopus. Either way, I didn't really taste it, but oh well. The shining beacon that calls me every single time is their snow crab pasta. I live for it. The dish is aromatic, rich, and umami from that dashi butter, with perfectly al dente pasta and a hefty portion of crab meat. Fantastic pan-Chinese restaurant located in the outer reaches of the East Village. Very cozy place with Hans Wegner like chairs and lots of brick and dark wood. Highlights were octopus with the airiest browned butter whipped potato, the breaded and fried- deviled eggs, and the pork belly which was cooked perfectly crispy, with most of the subcutaneous fat rendered out (why can't more restaurants do this correctly?) However, i didn't care for the accompanying noodles - they were a little undercooked for me. Chocolate hazelnut dessert was as beautiful as it was tasty. The food is really rich, so have come hungry. I was really excited to try Tuome for their contemporary Asian American menu. My favorite dish was their complimentary scallion puffs. They were very airy and crispy and reimagined the classic scallion pancake. I also loved the perfectly grilled foie gras in the scallop appetizer. I came here for Father's Day. Truthfully, this restaurant is a little hard to find considering it blends in with the residential buildings around it. It's a little small inside and I felt like the tables were pretty close together. For appetizer, we had the quail and they gave us complimentary scallion puffs with cream cheese and everything seasoning. As a main course, we all shared the halibut and the Pig Out dishes. And for a side dish, we got the rice that came in a banana leaf. The desserts were the best part in my opinion, to top off an already great meal. We had the beignets and chocolate cake. We really wanted dim sum, however they wouldn't substitute the two pork ones for non-pork options. Apparently they say they make enough for each order. Which was a disappointment. 1 of my favorite spots in the city, but I was disappointed by the snow crab noodles this time. They seemed to have changed the sauce a little and cut the crab in half. The scallop dumplings were quite the surprise, though I don't think there is enough value at $28 to order it, though it was unique combining it with foie Gras. The lamb chops were a bit small, but very tasty, perfectly medium rare. I believe this might be my first time, trying the original location of a Michelin star restaurant. I love the ambience of this restaurant, stellar place for a date as it was very intimate with the lighting and all. The menu was small and easy to read, Made things easier to pick from. We got the dim sum tower which was pretty tasty. I wish they had more steamed options instead of fried options. However, the best thing was the lobster item and the shrimp toast option. The steam shrimp dumpling had a weird taste with the saltines of the sauce and the citrus flavor of the foam that was on the dumpling. The fried pork football dim sum was OK. The crab noodles was the star of the show was the noodle texture was perfectly cooked. The crab was amazing. Cocktail was also very good, not too strong of alcohol. Taste yet it got the job done. The complementary bread was unique and very good. The pork dish was my least favorite, I was expecting it to taste like lechon however besides the crispiness layer on top, the pork was very mushy, which I did not like. Excellent low key relaxed Michelin starred restaurant in Alphabet City with amazing food. Elevated Chinese/Asian cuisine with excellent cocktails. We went with some friends for an evening out. Ordered cocktails- everyone loved the lychee and the sour cherry / sparkling wine cocktails. I got a glass of orange (skin contact) wine which was perfectly complex, refreshing, and light. We decided to share and ordered: Hamachi app Octopus app Snow crab noodles Pig out Ice cream bao dessert Everything was delicious and impeccably cooked and presented. The hamachi app was so good- great balance of fresh, fatty, sweet, sour, salty and crunchy. You make little lettuce wraps and add a chunk of hamachi and then top with fried crunchy taro? And an amazing green sauce (similar to a thai green seafood sauce). Octopus was great too- somehow crunchy on the outside yet tender inside. The snow crab noodles are a must order- pure umami bomb with perfectly chewy al-dented noodles. All of us wanted to lick the bowl, but refrained. I wish that you could get a second helping of noodles to soak up the remaining sauce like a kaedama at a ramen restaurant. The pig out was delicious as well. Served with a light green salad with lychees to cut the fattiness. And two sauces to place on top- a chili sauce and a scallion ginger sauce. So good. The dessert was great as well. Crispy baos (like the sweet mantou buns but with a flaky texture) that you split and fill with vanilla ice cream, red bean paste and a drizzle of caramel. Excellent way to end the evening. They have a small, changing Asian fusion menu and we loved almost all the dishes here with the highlights being: - snow crab noodles with squash and dashi butter - heirloom tomato with "Tom yum" seafood and watercress - deviled eggs made crispy - fluke (fish) with massaman curry and CORN!! Good food and ambiance. We had a reservation for 7:15 PM on evening and came in at 6:45 PM hoping to be seated early. They did end up having a table ready for us at 7:05 PM, but we had already begun walking around at the park nearby! They start with light fried scallion pancakes with ricotta and I loved them! Originally we ordered a side and an entree but they recommended us to each order an app and entree. Personally I understand if they have recommendations but I do wish they were more suggestions than expectations that were put on us. Here is my review: Wagyu beef tartare with nori chips: (5/5)- best beef tartare I've had in my life! The wagyu's marbling is and so fatty and tender. Perfect amount of flavors- not too salty. Highly recommend! My other favorite dish is the snow crab noodle (what they are known for): THIS IS A MUST GET!! I don't even like noodles but oh boy, the texture of the noodles is perfect- it's more on the hard and chewy side. The flavor of the dish is so creamy and yummy! (5/5) Pig out: this is also one of their specialty dishes, but I did not like it at all. The surface of the pork is fried and suppose to be crispy... but it's way too hard, and it definitely hurt my mouth and cut the top of my mouth ...:/ the pork was also not that great, not really fatty or anything special. The best part about the dish was probably the arugula salad... Chinese beignets: their only dessert. It was not packed at all for a Michelin star restaurant, but it was also a random weekday evening. I couldn't really remember how the ambiance was. The service was interesting. Our waitress was helpful with making suggestions. But we all thought that the service was rather quick at clearing the plates off our table. Like excuse me, I would like to dip more of this lovely food in the sauce please, but it was gone within seconds. We started our meal with the complimentary sesame bread followed by our apps of deviled eggs, persimmon and octopus. They were very good. For the entrees, the snow crab and the pig out were good! The wagyu was not bad but not our favorite. We also liked our sides of rice and broccoli. But I didn't think the sticky rice was anything special from the ones I've had at our nearby dim sum places. The dessert of the fried buns with ice cream was good except when you have the ice cream on its own, the goat milk taste was overpowering. The meal started with the chef's surprise, which was a spin on a classic scallion pancake. The pancakes were nice and crispy, and came with a cream cheese dip. The branzino had great texture and came with a broth with a flavor profile similar to clam chowder. Good solid food at a Michelin 1 star that is very approachable. The vibe is more comfort food / hipster but the food is a great. Had the snow crab pasta that was very buttery in a good way and nice portions of snow crab. A solid dish Had the pig out which was done nicely. The salad pairing was nice and refreshing. The sauces really enhance the pork skin. The peanut noodles were a touch to Al Dente for my taste. Also had the beignet dessert. If you don't like goats milk don't be afraid of this. The notes of it are so subtle I had to taste a large portion of it directly from a spoon to only get a hint of it at the finish. Making a sandwich with it is fantastic. Been back to Tuome twice and I enjoyed it both times, deeply! Part of a handful of NYC spots that inject so much flavor and texture into every bite and dish. Everything here is creative and delicious. The ambience is dark, romantic, candlelit. The space is small but they do what they can with the real estate. The Pork Belly is a must -- interesting deconstructed cubes that are crispy and shatter in your mouth. I also absolutely loved the Fluke Tartare, with the huge floating chip, which I had last time (two years ago) -- not sure if it's still on the menu. Service is good, although this time due to the last party finishing up we were sat down about fifteen minutes after our reserved time and had to wait outside for a bit. read more

The Mains are the star of this Michelin Star restaurant Walking in, the set up of the atmosphere is cozy, open and slightly dark; no blinding bright lights here. Noise is no issue here, it is a great place to take that special someone. The service was up to the standard you would expect from a higher end restaurant, they were attentive, knowledgeable and professional. Not anything that would separate them from elite Michelin star restaurants. As far as the food they provided complimentary Scallion pancake puffs which did not blow me away. They were crunchy with some flavor but did not remind me of a scallion pancake I have ordered from countless Asian restaurants (5/10). For the Apps, we ordered the Scallops and Octopus. As far as taste goes, Scallops had a bit more flavor while the Octopus required dipping into the puree to combat the rubbery texture. Scallops (6.5/10). Octopus (6/10) The main's is where Tuome shined the brightest. The Snow Crab dish tasted amazing. Noodles were cooked al dente, and paired well with the fresh crab. The flavors worked well together and would highly recommend getting this dish again (10/10). Finally the Lamb, it was tender, flavorful, and presented well. The puree was a good balance of complex but not overpowering in any sense (9.5/10). One more thing: skip the Broccoli, there is nothing wrong with the taste, I just thought it would be chinese broccoli and not regular. The vanilla ice cream and Chinese Beignets were amazing! Overall: I would recommend people venture out to the East Village to try Tuome. Focus more on the mains and maybe try a different Apps Dish if you're interested. If this is supposed to be Michelin star, we should not both be sick afterwards. I am hesitant about eating seafood in general unless I'm at a reputable restaurant. My first introduction to this place was not great by the host hence why this is not 5 stars. We arrived to our 6 PM reservation at 5:59 PM. There was a couple in front of us, then we arrived, then another group of family, and then another couple. Instead of greeting us the host was sitting at the bar and said he would be with us in a couple minutes. Finally, he arrives with his ipad and he states "So who was here first". I said the couple before us arrived and he stated "Actually it was the couple outside". Besides that, my overall experience with the rest of the staff was great, especially the waitress and the food runners. The waitress continued to refill our water throughout the night. The food runners cleaned our table and changed out the utensils. What impressed me was when he noticed our table was wobbly, so he fixed it for us! The attention to detail! My boyfriend and I ordered based on what was recommended the deviled eggs for the appetizer and the pig out for the 2 of us as our main. We were given complimentary bread of scallion pancake puffs and homemade ricotta, which tasted like an everything bagel but light and airy. The deviled eggs usually come in threes but you could also order a plate of 4. The eggs were delicious with a nice twist for a crispy coating! The pig out was enough for two given the richness of the plate. You are given 10 square pieces of crispy pork paired with a refreshing salad, al dente peanut noodles, and two condiments. The combination of the three was the experience. Crispy top layers of the pork with a tender bottom. Slightly bitter arugula with a citrusy dressing and sweet lychee pieces. Creamy peanut sauce with noodles just cooked right. My taste palate was insane. At the end of the night, we didn't want dessert. However, the restaurant remembered that it was our anniversary so we were served the Chinese beignet with our check as a surprise, which was sweet of them to remember! The beignets were like a fusion between a mantou and a croissant. Cut the beignet and pair it with some vanilla ice cream, red bean, caramel sauce, and yuzu marmalade. Delicious! The food was SO AMAZING. Every dish, from the apps, to the sides, to the mains, is so flavorful and rich in texture. For the apps, i recommend the fluke tartare and the apricot. Both are very refreshing and fun to eat. For the side dishes, the broccoli and the rice are to die for. The rice was made with sticky rice wrapped in some leaves which reminds me of zong zi. For the mains, the pig out and the blue crab noodle are must-trys. The peanut butter noodle that came with the pig out is so rich in flavor I'd have that for my main dish. The food absolutely deserves a five-star rating. But for a restaurant that has one Michelin star and at this price, I expected better service. 10/10 this was such a wonderful experience. The ambiance and space is lovely, with perfectly dim lighting for a special occasion or a date night. It's intimate and small without feeling cramped. The food was SO good. Everything from the bread plate, to the snowcrab, the lamb chops, and the octopus was wonderful. The beignets and ice cream for dessert with the dulce de leche/caramel sauce was sooo good. I loved that it was a bit DIY and you could make your own ice cream sandwiches. My favorite from the savory food was probably the lamb chops-- which at first came out a bit overdone, but the manager was more than happy and very gracious about redoing for us. Huge difference between the medium well ones and medium rare ones we ended up having the way we wanted! The sauce was so delicious, and they were great with the slow cooked onion puree. A lot working right there. This brings me to service. Everyone was super friendly and thoughtful, our waitstaff was great, they even allowed us to move tables because the AC was blowing at us and I was a bit chilly. The manager who was so nice about our lamb order personally came over and checked to make sure we were happy with the medium well ones, which we really appreciated and it didn't make us feel awkward about asking. Visited Tuome on a very impromptu evening with a friend of mine and was treated to an excellent dinner filled with many great bites. Going in, I had been hesitant on visiting as the menu had very limited vegetarian options, but I was thrilled that they were able to make adjustments to the offerings and was able to try many of the dishes. The main highlights of the offerings were the deviled eggs which had a very crispy exterior paired with a very flavorful finish, one of the best bites of the dinner. The kitchen was able to make their crab pasta but vegetarian, using various herbs and spices, and was one of the better pasta dishes I have had recently. We paired the pasta with the mapo tofu side dish which was extremely flavorful and had a crispy exterior with a fluffy interior as well as the broccoli which had a great chili oil drenching the dish which was very tasty, both of which were incredible. We finished the meal with the Chinese beignets paired with a caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream which was the perfect end to the meal. One of the best desserts in the city, truly a great finish to a great meal. Tuome left a great impression, and I will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

Really solid food with great service! Nothing was bad (hence the 5 stars) but I will say it wasn't memorable. I'm surprised it has a Michelin star. But nonetheless I would recommend dining here. Was so excited to check out the spot on our visit to New York! We had a reservation at 6:30 PM, but unfortunately, had to wait outside for a while and was seated at 7 PM. On top of that, the waiters and waitresses didn't seem too enthusiastic about helping us out for the night. We started with a deviled eggs appetizer, which was unique because the eggs were fried. However, besides that, it wasn't too special. Next, we had the quail dish. This was my favorite dish, the quail was braised perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. The main dishes included a snow crab noodle. The noodles were great, you can tell they were aiming for al dente, but the noodles could have been cooked 30 sec-1 min longer. These were the same noodles used for our pork dish. The noodles were still a bit undercooked but the taste was a rich, peanut sauce, which I loved. I was really looking forward to the pork, but it was really not what I expected. The meat was like a carnitas texture, soft and fell apart easily, which is what you expect of a BBQ dish, but not of a Chinese dish. The skin was good though, crispy in every bite. Overall, very unique experience, but I did not think that it depicted Asian fusion to the best of its abilities. read more
