One of my favorite places I've eaten at all year!! Truly a gem, I can't wait to come back! The service was great from beginning to end and nothing short of attentive. The restaurant itself has a nice intimate vibe so great for date nights or for smaller group settings. We sat at the bar and our bartender was Arti, who was super kind and had great banter. Regarding the food, it was phenomenal! So many good choices to choose from but some of my favorites include: green curry escargot, branzino, oysters, and Chinese broccoli. I also recommend the chocolate soufflé, as someone who doesn't enjoy chocolate desserts, this was amazing and reminded me of a brownie. Twin Tails is an 1980s-inspired Southeast Asian restaurant located on the 3rd floor of the Shops at Columbus Circle, serving Thai-Vietnamese cuisine. It's operated by Quality Branded, the same group behind Don Angie and Zou Zou's, but I hadn't actually heard of this restaurant until I started researching pescatarian friendly restaurants in the area. While they do serve meat and poultry, the menu leans heavily seafood-forward, which immediately caught my attention. The space is romantic and retro, with a moody, dimly lit ambiance and comfortable booth seating. It's also much larger inside than I expected, which gives it a lively feel without being cramped. The night we went, they were hosting a collaboration with Thai restaurant Zaab Zaab, offering a special menu that included a seafood soufflé. Prices fall into the $$$ range, but they're not unreasonable for the setting, portions, and execution. I ordered the crispy garlic shrimp--jumbo, perfectly battered, with just a touch of heat from the chiles. The portion was generous, though you have to order rice separately. Easily some of the best shrimp I've had and absolutely worth the price. My friend ordered the sea bass curry, which arrived wrapped in a banana leaf . She was expecting a bowl of curry and found the dish a little under-sauced, but she requested curry on the side, and the kitchen accommodated without issue. Service was good overall, though it was a bit difficult to get our server's attention at times. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I do plan to return. My daughter wanted to experience their famous Cho Lon Duck with me so here we came! The restaurant is beautiful and located right by the Columns Circle. The waitress was professional and helpful. She explained the portion of the duck is equivalent to 2 entrees, and recommended a few appetizers; they all sounded amazing. Since it's only 2 of us and can't take any leftovers b/c we're catching a show later so we only ordered the Netted chicken rolls besides the duck. The duck was Delicious! It came with 3 different sauces and the coconut rice was good too. The chicken spring rolls were made with double rice paper making it extra crunchy, great flavor and texture. This Columbus circle restaurant is just such a gem in the building. The bar is beautiful and fun, the tables comfortable and spacious, and the ambiance embodies a Thai drug lord lair in the sky, in the best possible way! The space truly stuns from the moment you walk in. Every cocktail was great with a refreshing Negroni and a stellar Sambal Margarita. The only thing not quite where I wanted it was the espresso martini at the end. Two dishes you must get are the duck and the dorade sashimi. They're both beautiful, incredibly tasty, and worth every dollar. Overall the menu is pricey, but no dish fell flat, and many items were straight up excellent! We had our baby with us and the staff was so kind and wonderful about that. Overall we ended up with a service team that made us great drinks, served us awesome food, and took good care of us! My friend treated me to a birthday dinner a few weeks ago. The sister restaurant from the same group that owns Bad Roman, which are both located inside the Shops at Columbus Circle. We started off with cocktails, and boy, they were strong!! My friend ordered the salted lychee Martini, and I ordered the Bangkok Screwdriver. We paired our drinks with the Grand Appetizer that had to be modified by replacing the lobster spring rolls with Vietnamese Bo La Lot. The chef was generous to give us a full order of this dish, and it was worth ordering it. The Grand Appetizer also consisted of pork cha gio rolls, chicken Satay, banh khot, and Yellowtail. For our entree, we shared the cho lon duck with a side of wok tossed long beans. We definitely enjoyed the long beans, meanwhile, the duck was beautifully presented, and the portion size was meant to be shared with 3-4 people. The duck is worth ordering for the experience and a fun DIY way to create your own peking duck wrap. My friend took the leftovers home. To end the night, we ordered the ube creme caramel, which was very good. However, we could not finish the dish because we were both full. and since we celebrated a birthday, we got a Thai ice coffee affogato on the house. The affogato was one of best I have had in a while. The coffee used was also strong. This place is so worth going to celebrate a special occasion or have a group dinner. We started a tasty and refreshing, papaya salad, the Cho Lon Duck came in three tiers -- it looks similar to Peking duck but with Thai spices and sauce, creating a flavorful Thai-style version. The royal dorade sashimi was fresh and paired with a Thai dipping sauce, giving it a refreshing twist. We also really enjoyed the lobster noodles and bamboo sticky rice. We had 730 reservation and my wife complained that the bathroom was not that clean. I recommend as a good experience, but wouldn't go out my way to go back. Last night was my first time at Twin Tails. Immediately upon entry you are struck with this amazing decor, beautiful view of Columbus circle, and just an awe inspiring ambiance. Usually I note that the staff was great which they were, and they were very attentive, which they were. But I would would much like to highlight Pooja. She was above and beyond amazing. Pooja's knowledge of the each dish and drink coming out was amazing. She was also so welcoming as if I knew her for years. If you do make it to Twin Tails I'd ask for Pooja she'll definitely take care of you, just make sure you take care of her yelpers. As for the food we had so much and if could write that I disliked something I would. But I can't. Every single thing was an explosion of flavors, contrasts of textures. Every dish was an artistic representation of Vietnamese cuisine without skipping out on flavor. Some places the food may look nice but doesn't stack up in the flavor department this is not one of those places. Some standouts for me were the dorade sashimi, if they would of gave me a cup of that cilantro sauce it came with I would've been happy with that so much flavor added onto such a tender sweet piece of fish. Another the pork shank which was juicy, yet crisp and packed with flavor. The glass noodles just put that in a bucket and I'll be a happy camper. Rainbow sherbet cake contains cashews. It's good. But the soufflés are better. Was very pissed that we stated it was my mom's birthday, ordered the deserts early on before the entrees and they were brought out without candles or even anyone to sing happy birthday. 40 mins earlier, my entire table watched then do this for another table. We started off with the chicken spring rolls and the papaya-kumquat small plate. Both were very excellent, light starters. The chicken spring rolls were so flavorful and crispy. The papaya and kumquat small plate came with a bunch of lettuce and basil with which we could make lettuce wraps, and they mixed the ingredients tableside! For our main dishes, we shared the cucumber-mango cobb salad, coconut rice, red curry sea bass, and the night market chicken. All of the dishes were fantastic, and the coconut rice paired beautifully with the seabass and the chicken, both of which were very tender and juicy. The seabass with the coconut rice were probably my favorite bites of the day. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice, ube creme caramel, and the Thai ice coffee affogato. All were delectable but the ube crème caramel stole the show. It was so unique in flavor and not overly sweet. The texture was so smooth and nice, and the color was such a pretty deep purple. They didn't come up to us to let us know our main dish was going to be late until about 20-25 min. We also didn't receive anything comped after waiting that long. It's a pretty large restaurant with lots of wood accents and the music is pretty loud. We were seated right away and we were walked through the menu and provided suggestions from our server. Had an absolute FEAST at Twin Tails and will not forget it. ***Actual food review starts below It was one of my first meals after I came to NYC and honestly it really set the bar up there - my mom and I discovered it in the Columbus Circle and at first we were thrown off by the entrance because it's just two doors and you can't see anything inside the actual restaurant. Feels somewhat like a speakeasy as once you enter it's a completely different atmosphere as it's pretty dim inside with warm glowy lighting and the interior is that of retro luxury. I'd say the inside is kind of on the louder side as there were a lot of people and conversations going on but we were seated pretty close to the other tables. Shoutout to our server Chloe because she was an actual star throughout the whole experience!! She was super sweet and helpful, so well-informed of the menu, and genuinely made this dinner a delightful one, so we're very grateful for her service - the literal words of me and my mom. That being said the other servers were also so nice and welcoming as well, so overall can say that TT's service was wonderful!! Royal Dorade Sashimi : 4.5/5 - The fish was fresh and fatty, literally glistening, and had this springy-ness to it that made each bite nice and tender. My only thing is that the fish itself was a bit salty, especially with the sauces on the side that were also salty. But I did love this one sauce that had a peppery, mint (or some type of herbal) flavor. Tiger Prawn Pad Thai : 4/5 - I think the appetizers had knocked everything out of the park so hard that in comparison the pad thai felt pretty standard. Still great pad thai, and I liked how the noodles were chewy, kinda like al dente style. The tiger prawns were a bit tough to eat through as I think they may have been overcooked. I will say this one took a bit to come out, but maybe we devoured those appetizers a little too quickly. Mango Sticky Rice : 5/5 - Love love love the macadamia on the rice (wish there was more ) because it is absolutely sublime with the mango and coconut milk. We were first seated in a booth in the back, they happily moved us by the window as requested we just had to wait for availability (which is completely fine and understandable, of course). Our server was Hugh and he was just suchhhhh a gem. Incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. I highly recommend requesting to sit in his section if he's working during your visit. Hugh convinced us to order the whole royal dorade sashime, which I wasn't originally interested in because this was the most expensive item in the raw section, but WOW. It was incredible! And it is a decent amount of sashimi for the price tag. I highly recommend ordering this! It is buttery and so delectable. Twin Tails is known for their duck, I am personally not a duck fan but again--WOW WOW WOW. This was SO good. The duck tower with the wraps/toppings/sauces, it was all amazing. The tiger prawn pad thai was also SO good. For dessert, we had red curry suffle. To be honest, it didn't taste very red curry to me however it was VERY delicious. The drink, food and dessert menu truly honors authentic Vietnamese flavors like lemongrass, fish sauce, and combines the influence of other southeast asian cuisines utilizing pandan in their souffle, and thai iced coffee in their affogato - both EXCELLENT and some outstanding bites from this year. The food was excellent all around as well - those spring rolls were delectable and highly memorable. The shaking beef was extremely tender and flavorful, savory and a little smoky. The spicy chicken stir fry did not pull punches on spice and heat. The sticky rice was sooo sticky and gently sweet. Delicious. One thing to know is that it IS quite an expensive meal. But it takes authentic asian flavors, honors them, and creates a new expression of them in many of their items, especially in their desserts. One thing that was moderate to highly unpleasant - the wait staff kept trying to upsell us on items, urging us to order more, or order another round of drinks. I had an excellent first time dining experience at Twin Tails. The restaurant receives a 5 star rating based on its ambience, excellent service, and the delicious fusion flavors and presentation of each plate. Our waitress, Denissa, provided us with an enjoyable experience alongside terrific recommendations. My friend and I ordered a variety of menu offerings to sample what Twin Tails had to offer. The dishes that we ordered include- -Starters- Chicken Satay with peanut and ginger sauce -Crab fried rice -Pad Thai with Tiger Prawns -Sea Bass -Crab Uni Sandwich -Pistachio Soufflé -Ube Crème Brûlée -Lychee and Espresso Martinis I enjoyed what every dish had to offer. The standout dishes were the pad thai, crab fried rice, and crab uni sandwich. Some of the dishes were on the smaller size, so we were happy to have ordered additional plates. The homemade soufflé was absolutely fantastic. The Ube crème brûlée also took me by surprise. Very light and flavorful. Although on the higher end price scale, you definitely walk away satisfied from the quality and presentation of each dish. LOVE Twin Tails! Ambiance is cozy and inviting, you would never know you are inside Columbus Shops. I personally like to sit at the bar and enjoy the conversations with bartenders. They are friendly and attentive. The yellowtail and yellowfin tuna are amazing for lunch. A lighter option but very flavorful. If you go for dinner, a reservation is a must. They do get very crowded. Came here on a Saturday night for a party of four that ended up being a party of two after some cancelations. The hostess was so nice to still seat us at a four person table, which as you can see from the photos below we clearly needed! The restaurant is huge and so well decorated! You never felt like you were eating in a mall. I was a little nervous the food wouldn't live up to the hype but I was pleasantly surprised that everything was delicious. Everything was served at once, which worked because while we did have hot and cold items, the sashimi stayed cold as it was on ice. The steak satay and long beans were good and I'm happy we ordered them, but I wouldn't say they were a must order. The lobster summer rolls and dorado sashimi were my favorite! The lobster summer roll was stuffed to the brim with fillings and came with two dipping sauces and the dorado sashimi was so fresh! For dessert we had a soufleé which also is a must order! Food (5/5): Food was sooo delicious. It's different than most Thai restaurants we we've been as there is definitely some fusion elements. For example the duck was like Peking duck from Chinese restaurants. Speaking of that duck it was so juicy and tender. The steak was also amazing. Usually filet mignon can be a bit chewy, but the filet mignon here was top notch melt in your mouth. The other dishes like the lumpia and the dessert like the souffle and mango sticky rice were also amazing. Service (4/5): Definitely great and friendly service with an upscale feel. Only issue was that we reserved at 830pm and we had to wait until almost 915pm before getting seated. Overall though the service was top notch besides that issue and they apologized by giving two complimentary appetizers. Ambiance (5/5): Really beautifully decorated restaurant that feels very upscale and fact. Nice dark lighting decor with plenty of seating area. We were looking for someplace to eat while In NYC and were in the mood for Thai food. Twin Tails was quite a pleasant find! It is located in The Shops at Columbus Circle. We had no reservation but were seated rather quickly. We had Denisa as our waitress and she was just wonderful. We mentioned that this was our first time dining and while she did not push her recommendations - she excitedly "aprroved" our selections! This is more of a Vietnamese cuisine than Thai food. We ordered the following starters: Peanut-ginger chicken satay, crispy Pork Cha Gio rolls. The satay was delicious and came with 2 sauces: Peanut sauce and a ginger sauce. Loved the peanut sauce! The ginger sauce was great with our long beans dish- added a nice tang to it. The crispy rolls were also delicious and came with lots of lettuce and cilantro. The portions were quite generous. Our waitress also "ordered" the mushroom Banh cuon rice rolls - with her compliments. We thoroughly enjoyed this. The rolls had a "melt in your mouth" consistency and the mushroom fillings were just delightful - a nice fusion of flavors. For our entrees: we had the shaking beef, lemon grass ribs and wok tossed long beans. The long beans had a very elegant presentation but unfortunately fell flat on flavor. This was probably our weakness dish. Shaking beef was so tender and delicious and the lemongrass ribs had a nice caramel coating and was also tender and meaty. We thoroughly enoyed our meal. We also had a lychee martini and a glass of red wine. A very generous pour by Denisa! We were seated facing the statue of Columbus and was quite scenic looking out on the park. The restaurant was a little busy and the noise level was a little higher but the service was just excellent. Made our day! Would definitely come back again!! read more
