It's elegant inside and the interior design is beautiful! I walked in for our reservation at 12:30 PM, and the place was just the two of us on a Friday afternoon. Within an hour, it started to fill up due to the heat rising outside. One thing worth mentioning is that it was breathtaking inside. It has beautiful decor and just felt like I was in a different part of the world. Our table was literally a cut stone and the plates were picked with great detail. Our server was kind and patient as we agonized over what to select for our meal. My friend doesn't eat red meat or raw fish but that didn't deter me from ordering the whole royale dorade sashimi. That was really soothing and delicious being that we walked in on a day hot enough to be considered a heat wave. My friend had the Thai tea swizzle. Yes, they have refreshers (non-alcoholic drinks) along with cocktails (alcoholic). I know my friend decided on the grilled chicken Lao style which was really good, whereas I ordered the grilled branzino which came with this delicious salsa Verde. I was debating on whether to get more: looking at the other delicious salads, gai lan, and the Isaan beef meatballs, but my tummy couldn't fit in another bite. Had dinner at Twin Tails on an early Sunday evening when they weren't too busy and had a truly excellent meal from beginning to end. Started with the Netted Chicken Spring Rolls (great flavor) and the Emerald Goddess Salad (unique and refreshing) and both were terrific. Our main was the Cho Lon Duck which was nicely prepared and presented. Compared well with the best Peking Ducks that we have had. The Peekytoe Crab Fried Rice was an excellent side as was the Charred Brussels Sprouts. The Bamboo Sweet Sticky Rice was also good and presented on a unique way. The Soufflé (we had the Vietnamese Mocha - need to come back to try the other flavors) was a wonderful dessert to end the meal along with the Rainbow Sherbet Cake. An insane deal in my opinion. The duck took a while to come out, but so worth it! It was so delicious. Perfectly balanced amount of skin, fat, and meat! We were already full after the appetizers and the duck. But we had 3 FULL entrees and 2 desserts to go. The appetizers were great. The fried rolls were very authentically Vietnamese flavored. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees. The sauce that came with the branzino was great and the fish itself was grilled to perfection! The shaking beef had a slightly sweet and salty flavor profile. The noodles paired nicely with both. The mango sticky rice's rice was amazing! The best rice of a mango sticky rice I've had. I wish the mangos were a bit more ripe, but the coconut cream was able to add the sweetness element. Our dinner took 3 hours, a bit long in my opinion. One of my favorite places I've eaten at all year!! Truly a gem, I can't wait to come back! The service was great from beginning to end and nothing short of attentive. The restaurant itself has a nice intimate vibe so great for date nights or for smaller group settings. We sat at the bar and our bartender was Arti, who was super kind and had great banter. Regarding the food, it was phenomenal! So many good choices to choose from but some of my favorites include: green curry escargot, branzino, oysters, and Chinese broccoli. While they do serve meat and poultry, the menu leans heavily seafood-forward, which immediately caught my attention. The space is romantic and retro, with a moody, dimly lit ambiance and comfortable booth seating. It's also much larger inside than I expected, which gives it a lively feel without being cramped. The night we went, they were hosting a collaboration with Thai restaurant Zaab Zaab, offering a special menu that included a seafood soufflé. Prices fall into the $$$ range, but they're not unreasonable for the setting, portions, and execution. I ordered the crispy garlic shrimp--jumbo, perfectly battered, with just a touch of heat from the chiles. The portion was generous, though you have to order rice separately. Easily some of the best shrimp I've had and absolutely worth the price. My friend ordered the sea bass curry, which arrived wrapped in a banana leaf . She was expecting a bowl of curry and found the dish a little under-sauced, but she requested curry on the side, and the kitchen accommodated without issue. My daughter wanted to experience their famous Cho Lon Duck with me so here we came! The restaurant is beautiful and located right by the Columns Circle. The waitress was professional and helpful. She explained the portion of the duck is equivalent to 2 entrees, and recommended a few appetizers; they all sounded amazing. Since it's only 2 of us and can't take any leftovers b/c we're catching a show later so we only ordered the Netted chicken rolls besides the duck. The duck was Delicious! The bar is beautiful and fun, the tables comfortable and spacious, and the ambiance embodies a Thai drug lord lair in the sky, in the best possible way! The space truly stuns from the moment you walk in. Every cocktail was great with a refreshing Negroni and a stellar Sambal Margarita. The only thing not quite where I wanted it was the espresso martini at the end. Two dishes you must get are the duck and the dorade sashimi. They're both beautiful, incredibly tasty, and worth every dollar. Overall the menu is pricey, but no dish fell flat, and many items were straight up excellent! I dined solo tonight, and this restaurant left a great impression on me. When I arrived, I was greeted by two friendly hosts and sat at the bar which had full service. Carmen was my server/bartender, and she was so kind. She gave me great insight on the menu, and portion sizes. I opted for the Bánh Khot of the small plates off the menu paired with a glass Chenin Blanc. I was blown away by the peekytoe crab and champagne mango with the meal! We paired our drinks with the Grand Appetizer that had to be modified by replacing the lobster spring rolls with Vietnamese Bo La Lot. The chef was generous to give us a full order of this dish, and it was worth ordering it. The Grand Appetizer also consisted of pork cha gio rolls, chicken Satay, banh khot, and Yellowtail. For our entree, we shared the cho lon duck with a side of wok tossed long beans. We definitely enjoyed the long beans, meanwhile, the duck was beautifully presented, and the portion size was meant to be shared with 3-4 people. The duck is worth ordering for the experience and a fun DIY way to create your own peking duck wrap. My friend took the leftovers home. To end the night, we ordered the ube creme caramel, which was very good. However, we could not finish the dish because we were both full. and since we celebrated a birthday, we got a Thai ice coffee affogato on the house. Last night was my first time at Twin Tails. Immediately upon entry you are struck with this amazing decor, beautiful view of Columbus circle, and just an awe inspiring ambiance. Usually I note that the staff was great which they were, and they were very attentive, which they were. But I would would much like to highlight Pooja. She was above and beyond amazing. Pooja's knowledge of the each dish and drink coming out was amazing. She was also so welcoming as if I knew her for years. If you do make it to Twin Tails I'd ask for Pooja she'll definitely take care of you, just make sure you take care of her yelpers. As for the food we had so much and if could write that I disliked something I would. But I can't. Every single thing was an explosion of flavors, contrasts of textures. Every dish was an artistic representation of Vietnamese cuisine without skipping out on flavor. Some places the food may look nice but doesn't stack up in the flavor department this is not one of those places. Some standouts for me were the dorade sashimi, if they would of gave me a cup of that cilantro sauce it came with I would've been happy with that so much flavor added onto such a tender sweet piece of fish. We started off with the chicken spring rolls and the papaya-kumquat small plate. Both were very excellent, light starters. The chicken spring rolls were so flavorful and crispy. The papaya and kumquat small plate came with a bunch of lettuce and basil with which we could make lettuce wraps, and they mixed the ingredients tableside! For our main dishes, we shared the cucumber-mango cobb salad, coconut rice, red curry sea bass, and the night market chicken. All of the dishes were fantastic, and the coconut rice paired beautifully with the seabass and the chicken, both of which were very tender and juicy. The seabass with the coconut rice were probably my favorite bites of the day. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice, ube creme caramel, and the Thai ice coffee affogato. All were delectable but the ube crème caramel stole the show. It was so unique in flavor and not overly sweet. The texture was so smooth and nice, and the color was such a pretty deep purple. Had an absolute FEAST at Twin Tails and will not forget it. ***Actual food review starts below It was one of my first meals after I came to NYC and honestly it really set the bar up there - my mom and I discovered it in the Columbus Circle and at first we were thrown off by the entrance because it's just two doors and you can't see anything inside the actual restaurant. Feels somewhat like a speakeasy as once you enter it's a completely different atmosphere as it's pretty dim inside with warm glowy lighting and the interior is that of retro luxury. My only thing is that the fish itself was a bit salty, especially with the sauces on the side that were also salty. But I did love this one sauce that had a peppery, mint (or some type of herbal) flavor. Tiger Prawn Pad Thai : 4/5 - I think the appetizers had knocked everything out of the park so hard that in comparison the pad thai felt pretty standard. Still great pad thai, and I liked how the noodles were chewy, kinda like al dente style. The tiger prawns were a bit tough to eat through as I think they may have been overcooked. I will say this one took a bit to come out, but maybe we devoured those appetizers a little too quickly. Mango Sticky Rice : 5/5 - Love love love the macadamia on the rice (wish there was more ) because it is absolutely sublime with the mango and coconut milk. We were so full but we'll definitely have to come back for their passionfruit souffle and signature dishes, and ofc their cocktails because they sounded amazing. Popped into this viral spot on a Friday night around 9 PM and snagged a table for two without a wait--score! The menu focuses on Thai-Vietnamese street food, but don't expect anything groundbreaking. We went for the viral duck, which was solid but not mind-blowing. Good, not wow. The vibe is what makes this place. It's a great casual spot for a date or a fun night out, it's giving Buddakan ambience that's worth the slightly higher price tag compared to your average Thai/Vietnamese joint in the city. You're paying for the experience more than the food. Might swing by again for drinks and to soak in the atmosphere, but the food alone wouldn't pull me back. read more

We had such an excellent experience at Twin Tails. We were first seated in a booth in the back, they happily moved us by the window as requested we just had to wait for availability (which is completely fine and understandable, of course). Our server was Hugh and he was just suchhhhh a gem. Incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. I highly recommend requesting to sit in his section if he's working during your visit. Hugh convinced us to order the whole royal dorade sashime, which I wasn't originally interested in because this was the most expensive item in the raw section, but WOW. It was incredible! And it is a decent amount of sashimi for the price tag. I highly recommend ordering this! It is buttery and so delectable. Twin Tails is known for their duck, I am personally not a duck fan but again--WOW WOW WOW. This was SO good. The duck tower with the wraps/toppings/sauces, it was all amazing. The tiger prawn pad thai was also SO good. For dessert, we had red curry suffle. To be honest, it didn't taste very red curry to me however it was VERY delicious. Literally every meal, the ambiance, the SERVICE--all excellent. 10/10 visit would absolutely go back. We definitely dropped a pretty penny per person, but it was all worth it and everything was shareable, allowing everyone to try everything! Hidden Gem in Columbus Circle , it's inside The Shops at Columbus Circle. It's a IYKYK type of spot. Has a great view to the Central Park , if you sit by the window. Walked in and got checked in the by the host , told us to wait by the bar , it was beautifully set up. I love the dim orange and black lights. It gave the Great Gatsby vibe. Food was delicious , my favorites were the Shaking Beef and Crab Fried Rice ! Good Portion Sizes and definitely worth the money. Service - 10/10 Great for Large Parties read more

Heard a lot about this vibey new Vietnamese place from the Bad Roman team in the same mall that Bad Roman is in, and as someone who grew up eating no frills Vietnamese food and in general, prefers mom and pop local shops in Queens for his asian food than eating in the city where the price is 3x as much for not better quality, I was skeptical. But -- I had an excellent meal here. The drink, food and dessert menu truly honors authentic Vietnamese flavors like lemongrass, fish sauce, and combines the influence of other southeast asian cuisines utilizing pandan in their souffle, and thai iced coffee in their affogato - both EXCELLENT and some outstanding bites from this year. The food was excellent all around as well - those spring rolls were delectable and highly memorable. The shaking beef was extremely tender and flavorful, savory and a little smoky. The spicy chicken stir fry did not pull punches on spice and heat. The sticky rice was sooo sticky and gently sweet. Delicious. One thing to know is that it IS quite an expensive meal. But it takes authentic asian flavors, honors them, and creates a new expression of them in many of their items, especially in their desserts. One thing that was moderate to highly unpleasant - the wait staff kept trying to upsell us on items, urging us to order more, or order another round of drinks. I came here with some friends for dinner and we had an amazing meal. Unfortunately we didn't get a table with a nice view but the food made up for that. The menu had a lot of options and many fusion selections. It is a fun place to go with a group and try many different items. read more
