I hate to say it, but this experience was subpar for me and my girlfriend, unfortunately. We made a reservation and most of us were there within the timing, but we were sat at a communal table, which was a huge disappointment. One of the reasons we picked this spot was because the reviews noted that is was a quiet spot and a good place to catch up. That was not the case. It was loud and we were a group of four people that were seated on the end of a long wooden table with about two other parties on the other end. The place itself was pretty and had a great aesthetic. I wish I could say the food made up for it, but unfortunately, I was not wow by what we had. One of their signature dishes, the duck dry pot, they did not have. I made a pivot and saw that they had crab fried rice, one of my all-time favorite dishes, and was super excited when I saw it came in a coconut shell. And although the dish was beautiful, it lacked a little something. It wasn't bad, it was just not as flavorful as others I've had. Not sure if this was an off night, if they were expecting this crowd given the nice weather, but I'm glad I had the company there. Otherwise I would've been really upset on the experience.

While looking for Thai food on the Upper East Side, I had THEP Thai saved on my list and decided to stop by based on the strong reviews. I arrived right around opening, so service was excellent throughout the meal and the staff was attentive and welcoming. The space itself is very pleasant, with hanging plants and warm, relaxing lighting that gives the restaurant a nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite hit the mark for me, especially having been in Thailand fairly recently. Krapow Puff - 3/5: I'm usually a big fan of Thai curry puffs. This version was good, but I personally prefer a more traditional preparation. Pad Kee Mao - 4/5: Solid flavor overall, though the dish was a bit heavy on the onions for my taste. Green Curry - 3.5/5: The curry leaned more orange in color, which left me unsure if it was meant to be a classic green curry or the restaurant's own interpretation. Overall, THEP Thai is a decent option for Thai food in the area, but considering the price point and what you get, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Came here on a weekday dinner without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. They have smaller tables for 2 and larger tables for 4+. The vibe is dark, moody, elegant. The service was very good We got a starter (that I'm now forgetting the name of) that was excellent. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce was great. I also got a cocktail which I thought was good. For mains we got the pad kee mao and massaman curry. Both were great! I personally wish the massaman curry would've been spicier but I like my food spicy. The portion size was decent too - we had some leftovers to take home. Overall I recommend and I'd definitely go back!

Delicious comfort meal! I had the spicy udon noodles with beef and the noodles were perfectly soft and chewy. The beef was super tender as well! Service was excellent- very attentive and detail oriented! Please try it if you're on the UES :)

I came in to pick up my order and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. The staff member I interacted with was rude and not welcoming at all, which made the whole interaction uncomfortable. On top of that, when I got home, I noticed the container was only about half full, which definitely didn't feel like what I paid for. Hoping they improve both customer service and consistency moving forward.

Came here with a friend on a Tuesday night. There was a slight wait. Started off with the Kra-pow puff ($15) which came in three with a sweet sauce and that combo together was tasty. I got the pad see eiw ($20) with chicken and it was solid. Service was good. Great Thai spot. I would recommend if you're in the mood for Thai.

I went to THEP with my partner for Valentine's Day and let me just say it was amazing! We made a reservation maybe a week before and there were still a few options for times. The restaurant itself is very nice and we both really enjoyed our dishes. I ordered the Khao Soi ($24), and he ordered the Cashew King ($22). I had never tried my dish before and it was so flavorful and delicious. It had a lovely depth of curry flavor and the crunchy noodles and red onion were great complements. The food also came out less than 5 minutes after we ordered it, which was insanely quick! Let me also shout out that they have Shirley temples on their drink menu! I love that so much because they're my favorite, and they wouldn't have to be ordered off menu! We will definitely be coming back, the food was really great.

I heard so many good things before coming to Thep, and it lived up to the hype. Firstly, it's noticeably clean, which always makes me feel better about dining out when I can tell a restaurant is serious about cleanliness. The service was excellent--each staff member was attentive and polite. I had a rose Thai tea that was extremely refreshing on a hot day, perfectly sweet, and rosey. Our appetizers were the spring rolls and papaya salad, both vegetarian but still very flavorful and hearty. I had the red curry with chicken, which was phenomenal. It was a very tolerable spicy red curry that paired well with the chicken and vegetables in the dish. I really loved my experience at Thep Thai, and I am looking forward to coming here again!

Thep has an amazing menu, I will be going back to try more! The interior felt very trendy and modern, and the service was friendly. I enjoyed that they have many creative cocktail options. I had the mango sticky rice and appreciated the fresh mango flavor in the drink. For an appetizer, I got the chive dumpling massaman, and for the main dish, I had the khao soi. The dumplings were good, however I wish the curry was more flavorful and had a kick to it. In contrast, the curry in the khao soi was incredible! The dish has a mix of freshness from the vegetables and warm and hearty flavors from the chicken and noodles. It was one of the best dishes I've had in New York.

Ordered takeout from here and the flavors were great The curry was perfectly spicy and had lots of of flavor In the future I wouldn't order takeout from here though because as you can see pictured it arrived nearly half empty The crab Rangoon was really great and the filling tasted great too The noodles were also great and I would order again

This was a yummy vibey Thai spot, but for better pricing, more intimate ambiance and lower pricing I think you could get more authenticity / better service. We felt rushed by our server who had us order eveyrhting at once, and asked us mid bite if we wanted to take anything to go. The corn cakes are definitely the star!

Maybe the best Thai food I've had in NYC! Absolutely everything was perfect! Highly recommend

SERVICE - located on the upper east side walking distance from the met - quaint interior with lots of plants and dim lighting - seating for groups of 2-4 - mild wait during busier periods - servers attend to the table quickly to get orders - food served relatively quickly - restrooms available for customers MENU - thai selection of classics and some modern fusion dishes - vegan/vegetarian options available - average price FOOD - chive dumpling massaman (8/10): four pandan infused rice crepes filled with chinese chives, shiitake mushrooms, and tofu in a creamy massman curry sauce. Visually, this is a work of art. The color contrast between the curry sauce and the rice wrappers is incredibly appealing. It was also a unique appetizer that I have not seen commonly; i wish there was more filling in each dumpling and that the dumplings were easier to pick up as the wide circular shape made them fall apart easily. But overall this was a great start to the meal and I would recommend ordering to share between 2-4 people. - massaman curry (8/10): choice of protein, sweet potato, avocado, onions, and peanuts in a spicy and sweet massaman curry base served with rice. The curry sauce is the same one from the appetizer which I was glad to get more of. I liked the sweet potato for creaminess and peanut for saltiness. I could have done without the avocado as I felt it did nit go well simmering in the warm broth. This is the only vegan curry option. - pad kee mao (9/10): stir fried wide rice noodles with choice of protein, bell pepper, and onion in a spicy chili sauce. This was exactly what I would expect out of a pad kee mao. When eaten hot, the noodles were coated in just enough sauce fir flavor but not so much that they felt oily. I would have liked it even more if it defaulted to coming with more vegetables but it pairs well with a curry for a complete meal. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The flavore were great and the ambiance was enjoyable

I would like to get a table for 6 tomorrow night at 8:30pm. How do I do that?

I don't think they take any reservations, so you have to join the waitlist. You can find "join waitlist online" through yelp.

What is on their happy hour?

As for drinks, margaritas and I had a delicious martini. Well recommended.

Is there room for a party of 6 in the outdoor section?

Yes, it's the cute pods outside and outside the pods they can put tables together to accommodate 6 guest!

Is there room for a party of 10?

Yes the restaurant is large enough to accommodate a party of 10 but you should call directly to check if they are currently accommodating parties that large.

Hi can I make a reservation?

They do not take reservations for the private booths

Approximately how long is the wait time to be seated in the individual outdoor dining cabins on Saturday at 12PM?

    At least an hour's wait

Why has THEP been closed for the past few days, or at least not available for delivery? Are they closing for good? Obviously I'm not referring to today's snowstorm. I've been trying to order since Friday.

Is there room for a party of 6?

    Yes!

Are they currently doing outdoor seating?

    Yes!

I will be coming here later for dinner with family. What vegan options are available here?

I had the Pineapple Fried rice with Tofu. Call ahead to make sure they don't use any seafood base (which I don't believe they do). But check the menu for other noodle options as well. http://thepnewyork.com/menu-tab/

Do you do gluten-free food (Wheat free)?

Yes, we are a gluten-free friendly restaurant. Most of our dishes can be made gluten-free. Hope to see you soon!

Is the lunch special only available Monday-Friday?

Yes, our lunch special is only on weekdays, excluding holidays, from 11.30am to 3.45pm.

    Are dogs allowed outside?

    Yes, dogs are allowed outside.

We were greeted by very friendly staff members who, despite our early arrival, worked hard to get us seated as quickly as possible. The space's vibe is exactly what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Times Square area -- dimly lit, but everything was still visible, not too much noise while extremely busy, and very cozy atmosphere made super pleasant from such attentive, kind staff members. I was especially impressed by our server, Leena, who checked in with us regularly, gave excellent recommendations, and was clearly concerned about giving us an amazing experience. My wife and I ordered one of the seasonal offerings--a sweet and savory fruit salad--that was the perfect start to our meal. I ordered the massaman, and it was easily the best massaman curry I've ever had in the United States. Perfect spice level, the chicken fell right off the bone (even my wife, a vegetarian, commented on how clean the bones looked after I removed the meat), and the mixture of textures and flavors with the lotus seeds and onions really created the perfect dish. I am craving it just sitting here and writing this review! Prices? Honestly, I couldn't imagine a fairer deal given the quality of the food and service we received. I was utterly blown away. I cannot recommend Mitr Thai enough! I can't wait to return next time I'm in the city!

I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

For appetizers, we ordered the Sate, curry puff, chicken dumpling and shrimps. Everything was on point. The main course was the shrimp dish, chicken and tofu panang was our favorite. The fried rice and pad tai were just about okay. We ended the night with free celebration dessert my loved ones birthday celebration

However, when I got to the restaurant, I was told that they were not participating. When I brought this up to the staff, they did comment that several people made the same mistake earlier in the week. If that was the case, then why not correct the restaurant week website, or make it very obvious on your website that you aren't participating? Both of us were starving, and I had put in a birthday request at the restaurant, so we decided to stay. The ambiance is classy, and this would be a great spot for a business dinner or date night. I ordered a massaman curry with roti and chicken ($29), and my friend ordered the chuchi shrimp ($30) and curry puff ($16). Prices are a bit above average for the portion size, but justified by the area. We both enjoyed our dishes; the flavors were on point! Then, for my friend's birthday, they gave us mochi ice cream and a card signed by the staff! That was a nice touch that overrode the restaurant week debacle. Service was fantastic. There were multiple check backs and water refills. I would recommend Sabai Thai for a fancy night out, and I would return to try other dishes.

Came here just as happy hour was about to end for a fairly early dinner on Friday. There weren't…read moremany people there which made the experience quite easy for us. Interior is quite beautiful. Bathrooms on the lower level were also very clean and spacious. We enjoyed a couple cocktails under the happy hour prices - the Bellini & the Martini. Both were quite good. To start, we grabbed some okra. It had some teriyaki sauce marinated in it, which brought out a good kick. The star for me was the pad tofu & eggplant. Nice and tasty with a generous portion of vegetables and spice level was perfect. It doesn't come with rice, so you'll have to order some but it was great. To end the meal, we got mango sticky rice as a dessert. That was very good, the warm sticky rice complemented the mangoes which were impeccable.

I had the Soft Shell Curry which was delicious. Definitely get with white rice. I wanted to take some of it to go, but it was soo good I ate it all! The spot looks great solo, on a date or with friends. I loved it. When I came it was slow. But towards the end, it was so crowded and had like 3 birthdays. Highly recommend!

So yum!!!! Top 3 thai spots for me…read more Food- Classic order of Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles. The pad thai noodles are a big thinner than i've had before but that didn't bother me, it has such great flavor too. I recommend ordering it spicy, it's the perfect heat if you're looking for that kick but don't add it if you can't handle spice. The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. Loved the flavor and the noodles had the right texture, could've done without the huge chunks of tomato but great otherwise. The summer rolls were good, hard to mess those up. We also got a free mango salad with the order and that was so fresh and delicious. We just popped in for pick up but the hostess was really nice and attentive as soon as we walked in. It looked to be a nice casual spot, could be good for dinner with friends or date night.

It does well with doing the whole "fusion" schtick without losing the essence and flavor of the dishes. Pad Krapoa Moo Krob, the meat on the pork belly was so juicy - the pork skin was crunchy and chewy at the same time, flavors of Thai spice, basil, and bell peppers harmoniously working together to bring a balanced meal. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. Inside Oboa is dimly lit, a moody vibe that is fun and invites playful conversations.
