    Pad Thai

We walked in without a reservation for dinner and were able to grab seats at the bar. The bartender lady and overall service from the team was friendly and I appreciated the attention to detail with my food allergies. We ordered a few different plates among which I found the steak was my favorite being cooked well and the rice being a good compliment. The Pad thai was good and as you'd expect from similar restaurants. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and would be good for both dates and groups. They have outdoor tables as well.

I like a great Thai meal every now and then, and this place really delivers, especially when it comes to the pad thai. It is super delicious and flavorful, and the portion is generous enough to easily split into multiple servings. The drinks are fun and whimsical - not the strongest or most alcohol-forward, but very pretty and tasty. There is a large indoor dining area and an outdoor seating area as well, and overall the service is usually pretty good. I keep going back, which says something.

Disappointing food, I tried the spicy udon, green curry, Thai tea, pad see ew, Tom Yum Soup and Chive Pancakes and everything was so so, tom yum and Chive Pancakes were ok and others are skippable. Wouldn't recommend it. They also wouldn't seat you until your full party is there.

I hate to say it, but this experience was subpar for me and my girlfriend, unfortunately. We made a reservation and most of us were there within the timing, but we were sat at a communal table, which was a huge disappointment. One of the reasons we picked this spot was because the reviews noted that is was a quiet spot and a good place to catch up. That was not the case. It was loud and we were a group of four people that were seated on the end of a long wooden table with about two other parties on the other end. The place itself was pretty and had a great aesthetic. I wish I could say the food made up for it, but unfortunately, I was not wow by what we had. One of their signature dishes, the duck dry pot, they did not have. I made a pivot and saw that they had crab fried rice, one of my all-time favorite dishes, and was super excited when I saw it came in a coconut shell. And although the dish was beautiful, it lacked a little something. It wasn't bad, it was just not as flavorful as others I've had. Not sure if this was an off night, if they were expecting this crowd given the nice weather, but I'm glad I had the company there. Otherwise I would've been really upset on the experience.

Cutest little restaurant, super attentive & quick staff, and delicious Thai food. The cocktails were innovative, the food was scrumptious, and we were able to be sat quickly despite it being a busy week day. I only wish I would have gotten a picture of the pad Thai we also ordered because it was delicious and a good portion size!

While looking for Thai food on the Upper East Side, I had THEP Thai saved on my list and decided to stop by based on the strong reviews. I arrived right around opening, so service was excellent throughout the meal and the staff was attentive and welcoming. The space itself is very pleasant, with hanging plants and warm, relaxing lighting that gives the restaurant a nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite hit the mark for me, especially having been in Thailand fairly recently. Krapow Puff - 3/5: I'm usually a big fan of Thai curry puffs. This version was good, but I personally prefer a more traditional preparation. Pad Kee Mao - 4/5: Solid flavor overall, though the dish was a bit heavy on the onions for my taste. Green Curry - 3.5/5: The curry leaned more orange in color, which left me unsure if it was meant to be a classic green curry or the restaurant's own interpretation. Overall, THEP Thai is a decent option for Thai food in the area, but considering the price point and what you get, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Tasty casual Thai eats. Went for a weekend lunch - ended up ordering some cashew chicken. Was good! Would def come back.

Came here on a weekday dinner without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. They have smaller tables for 2 and larger tables for 4+. The vibe is dark, moody, elegant. The service was very good We got a starter (that I'm now forgetting the name of) that was excellent. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce was great. I also got a cocktail which I thought was good. For mains we got the pad kee mao and massaman curry. Both were great! I personally wish the massaman curry would've been spicier but I like my food spicy. The portion size was decent too - we had some leftovers to take home. Overall I recommend and I'd definitely go back!

Delicious comfort meal! I had the spicy udon noodles with beef and the noodles were perfectly soft and chewy. The beef was super tender as well! Service was excellent- very attentive and detail oriented! Please try it if you're on the UES :)

Came here with a friend on a Tuesday night. There was a slight wait. Started off with the Kra-pow puff ($15) which came in three with a sweet sauce and that combo together was tasty. I got the pad see eiw ($20) with chicken and it was solid. Service was good. Great Thai spot. I would recommend if you're in the mood for Thai.

I heard so many good things before coming to Thep, and it lived up to the hype. Firstly, it's noticeably clean, which always makes me feel better about dining out when I can tell a restaurant is serious about cleanliness. The service was excellent--each staff member was attentive and polite. I had a rose Thai tea that was extremely refreshing on a hot day, perfectly sweet, and rosey. Our appetizers were the spring rolls and papaya salad, both vegetarian but still very flavorful and hearty. I had the red curry with chicken, which was phenomenal. It was a very tolerable spicy red curry that paired well with the chicken and vegetables in the dish. I really loved my experience at Thep Thai, and I am looking forward to coming here again!

I came in to pick up my order and unfortunately had a pretty disappointing experience. The staff member I interacted with was rude and not welcoming at all, which made the whole interaction uncomfortable. On top of that, when I got home, I noticed the container was only about half full, which definitely didn't feel like what I paid for. Hoping they improve both customer service and consistency moving forward.

Thep has an amazing menu, I will be going back to try more! The interior felt very trendy and modern, and the service was friendly. I enjoyed that they have many creative cocktail options. I had the mango sticky rice and appreciated the fresh mango flavor in the drink. For an appetizer, I got the chive dumpling massaman, and for the main dish, I had the khao soi. The dumplings were good, however I wish the curry was more flavorful and had a kick to it. In contrast, the curry in the khao soi was incredible! The dish has a mix of freshness from the vegetables and warm and hearty flavors from the chicken and noodles. It was one of the best dishes I've had in New York.

Ask the Community - THEP Thai Restaurant

I would like to get a table for 6 tomorrow night at 8:30pm. How do I do that?

I don't think they take any reservations, so you have to join the waitlist. You can find "join waitlist online" through yelp.

What is on their happy hour?

As for drinks, margaritas and I had a delicious martini. Well recommended.

Is there room for a party of 6 in the outdoor section?

Yes, it's the cute pods outside and outside the pods they can put tables together to accommodate 6 guest!

Is there room for a party of 10?

Yes the restaurant is large enough to accommodate a party of 10 but you should call directly to check if they are currently accommodating parties that large.

Hi can I make a reservation?

They do not take reservations for the private booths

Approximately how long is the wait time to be seated in the individual outdoor dining cabins on Saturday at 12PM?

    At least an hour's wait

Why has THEP been closed for the past few days, or at least not available for delivery? Are they closing for good? Obviously I'm not referring to today's snowstorm. I've been trying to order since Friday.

Is there room for a party of 6?

    Yes!

Are they currently doing outdoor seating?

    Yes!

I will be coming here later for dinner with family. What vegan options are available here?

I had the Pineapple Fried rice with Tofu. Call ahead to make sure they don't use any seafood base (which I don't believe they do). But check the menu for other noodle options as well. http://thepnewyork.com/menu-tab/

Do you do gluten-free food (Wheat free)?

Yes, we are a gluten-free friendly restaurant. Most of our dishes can be made gluten-free. Hope to see you soon!

Is the lunch special only available Monday-Friday?

Yes, our lunch special is only on weekdays, excluding holidays, from 11.30am to 3.45pm.

    Are dogs allowed outside?

    Yes, dogs are allowed outside.

The drinks definitely added to the experience! The Melon Satho and Berry Satho were served inside a watermelon, while the Piña Colada was served in a pineapple. Not only were they refreshing, but the presentation was everything. We ended the night with the classic Mango Sticky Rice, which was sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to finish the meal! The service was pleasant, friendly, efficient and helpful from the minute we walked in without a reservation. The ambiance and decor was gorgeous and took me out of NYC for a moment. The phenomenal taste of the first sip of the Thai Iced Tea that paired so well with the rest of my meal is the reason behind the first picture I took. For the apps we ordered my favorite- Chicken Curry Puffs and Chicken Satay. The Chicken Curry Puffs were soft and perfectly mashy on the inside and had a perfect crisp to the layered outside. The Chicken Satay was so different here and yet so savory served with this soft garlic bread. The sauces were so fresh, vibrant and distinct and added to both the appetizers. The peanut sauce had crushed peanuts and was such an accompaniment to texture. For the mains, we had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Braised Beef Short Rib in Penang Curry. The Pad Thai was a great standard and tasty with the crisp sprouts and zesty lime. This Braised Beef Short Rib is where it is at! One of their house specialties- the decadent flavors and textures of this dish is something that will be memorable and just the right touch of spice. Lovely bright orange sweet potatoes and beautiful green beans went so well together with the beef and curry. Looking forward to trying more of their menu and not defaulting to my usual. Warmed up Chicken Pad Thai on the pan over the stove today in a little bit of butter, this was as delicious as it was going to get today.
