We had a great time here - the boys loved the cascading water and the hikes to the "castles." It's a beautiful place! The only thing that really disappointed me was how filthy it was. For what they charged they should have people on hand to clean up the litter. The trash everywhere was excessive and deplorable - very disappointed in the irresponsible patrons who can't manage to throw their refuse in the many trash receptacles and the lack of staff for cleaning up. ***Bring lots of water - when we were there all the canteens near the falls were closed! read more

I'm from L.A visiting family and decided to spend the day here. Place is cool if you are an active happy person who likes to swim and hike. You can also slide off the water slide which is cool. The hiking is also fun. They have a tram and a bus to drive you to the water fall or near your car. It gets really crowded during the summer. Over all this is a nice place just to hang out. People need to pick up there trash though. I've been here in the winter and the summer. In the winter I did the zip line which was cool but really cold up there. For the summer, it was crowded but worth it. I thought there was nothing to do in Oklahoma but there is. Lol read more

Trash, trash and more trash. This is by far the filthiest state park we have ever visited. Granted the big Labor Day Holiday was 4 days ago and I can see why some water bottles and cans would be tossed around. But we ran across thousands, yes thousands of cans, water & soda bottles, paper plates, diapers, raw food and lots of broken glass. We hiked along the area just above the bridal falls and cave area then moved upstream to parking area 3. Yep just as bad. Also, the "Castle" was a horrid place. Graffiti and trash everywhere. This could be a great, even fabulous attraction if it where to be taken care of. I will say that on a positive note, these are beautiful waterfalls and scenery. The management here really needs to control the crowds. Ban disposable anything. This is one of the most beautiful natural attractions that should not be destroyed. Lastly, shame on you if you read this and you had taken part of trashing this beautiful landscape. Sorry for ranting but this is so sad how people treat out parks. read more

There's a lot of potential here. The land, the recreation areas, the trails and camping areas are nice. However, they need to improve their bathrooms and showers--for campers and overnight guests, and they need to pick up the trash. ALL OF IT. Do a clean sweep through the camping areas. Too many cigarette butts and bottle caps, and just plain ole trash. It's ridiculously bad. They have signs posted "do not litter", but maybe they need to get a little more proactive and just pick up the trash. We stayed one night in our RV. We would have stayed another but the bathroom and shower amenities were just too nasty. I've been to plenty of big recreation areas, comparable to Turner Falls, and I've experienced a lot more good than this. At the end of the day, they could at least invest in some simple, clean bath and shower amenities for guests- tile falling off the wall, shower heads about to fall off, floors so nasty When big tourist attractions like this don't invest into the property, it makes me think they're greedy. Also, they've got a rule of anyone 12 and under needs to wear a life jacket. Well, they need to have people out on watch enforcing that. We saw plenty of kids, obviously under 12, with distracted parents on phones and minimal supervision. As a parent, I couldn't turn away from an unsupervised child without a life jacket in the water. I expected a LOT more of a quality experience with this place. I will not be staying here in our next Oklahoma visit. I don't feel it's worth the cost of entry fee plus camping fee. The Chickasaw National Park (just 35-40 minutes north) was immaculate. And, the Lake Murray State Park (just 40-45 minutes south) was also immaculate. There are too many other options in the area to waste my time or money on Turner Falls again. Either renovate or demolish and build new bathrooms and showers. Enforce your lifejacket rule, and clean the place up. read more

I tried sooo many times last yr to make it to this place and i finally made it happen this Saturday!!! Left my house pretty late in the midday but I made it around 1ish. Upon arrival they did accept card for the entrance fee which I was soo happy about I don't carry cash. They were surrounded by hornets due to the rain which was not cool for them ppl allergic to bees I'd say cover up during this time. I parked down by the second parking lot station. I was given a map at the front which was nice. The second parking lot had stairs to go up to the castle ruins which was nice and a good stair master workout if you ask me. After that I walked down the path towards the falls. It was filled with loads of ppl. I liked the climbs and the hiking a lot. I wish I had worn more equipped clothing to go into water but u left OKC n it was cold n gloomy to arriving in Davis where it was sunshine n near 80 degrees. But other than that I really liked this place probably may come again in fall when it's not as hot though to go walk around more of the trails over there. read more

This park could be so much more enjoyable if only someone was paid to clean it up. It has beautiful clear water if you can get past seeing all the litter and trash. The bathrooms are horrific. The castle is trashed with graffiti and litter everywhere. Does any employee every actually go up the the steps with a trash bag??!! Here's a thought...put some trash cans up there on multiple levels. It amazes me that we have to even make these suggestions b/c the visitors are so ignorant as to throw their own trash away. The land and water are beautiful but it was difficulty to relax and enjoy it due to the lack of cleanliness surrounding it. read more

Great place for the whole family...during the week maybe. Camped, hiked, and swam with my two young kids Monday-Thursday and enjoyed a nice and peaceful four day trip. The place is beautiful and the water is fantastic. My wife traveled there Saturday with the intention of camping through the weekend and waiting for me to arrive on Monday. She called me crying because it was completely packed with littering, obstreperous, drunk Mexicans. Mariachi music blares the entire night, toilet paper smothered with feces is piled a foot high in the portable toilets, and they throw their trash everywhere! INS would have a field day on the weekend. Unless you're looking for Cinco de Mayo every weekend, don't bring your family to Turner Falls. read more

For as much as this park charges you to stay and camp over night they should take better care of the surroundings. This place can be very beautiful if it was well maintained, this is our first time here and we stayed two nights but got charged for 3 days. Considering that we're leaving early morning we had to pay for the extra day, I didn't think that was fair. However, it's their rules but my only concern is the trash and graffiti. There's a beautiful castle but it's torn down and it's unbelievable that turner park would allow this historical piece of landscape go to waste. Full of graffiti and spiders and run down. In Colorado this historical piece of land would've been well preserved and maintained. The pool area by the waterfall was really dirty, not sure if it's filtered but it's very dirty. However the creek at times looks clean, this was an awkward experience for us. I'm not sure if we'll be returning... read more

Overall horrible, just horrible. To begin with, we were overcharged and had to deal with a rude employee. This place has no rules, guidelines, structure or organization. It's trashy, overcrowded and very unsafe! Did I mention how horrible this place is?!? I do NOT recommend this place at all! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! I know it's tempting when you see beautiful pictures of the waterfall...it must have been beautiful at one point in the past but now it is just a dump! Trash is EVERYWHERE. We saw tons of plastic and glass bottles, dirty diapers and even a feminine pad! The trash did not look like it was just littered and the employees didn't have a chance to clean/pick up. The trash looked like it's been there for months, maybe even years?!? There was a huge trash bin by the campgrounds that was completely overfilled. My son needed to use the restroom and decided to wait until we drove out to the nearest gas station. Yes...even the gas station restrooms are cleaner! This is a commercialized park, almost like a waterpark but in a 3rd world country! For $12 PER person you would expect it to be much cleaner. Very disappointing. In fact, just plain disgusting. We all quickly took a good shower when we got home even though my husband and I didn't even go in the water. Like I said it is tempting...but don't do it unless you don't mind staying at one star hotels! It's not even worth it to say...well at least I've been there once. No... 2 star because no one got hurt and we survived. Probably ok for a day trip and leave at dark. As for us we camped for 2 nights a Friday and sat departing on Sunday. To start with all camp sites are first come first serve. Not a huge issue but the camp sights are not marked so you don't know where they are and they are not listed on the map provided. Trash every where! All over the sides of the mountains around the camp sites. Not just litter but charcoal cookers tossed in the woods and garbage like that. The park has rules posted basically quite hours are 10pm-8am. We wish! Plenty of patrols and police during the day but at night traffic in the park didn't slow down untill 2 am. Loud music was playing untill 1 am. And not a single police officer to do anything about enforcing the rules at that time. We camp a lot all over the US and we will not be going back here again for sure. Edited. Nope 1 star. Family was woken up again by people walking the roads and yelling and cussing. read more

We went to camping here and it was exorbitantly expensive. Unfortunately it is run by the city of Davis rather than being a state park, so they get out as much a they can. To camp overnight you will pay park admission for everyone coming for each day, and for a camp parking pass for each vehicle, and all that adds up pretty quick. Also you can't leave the park and return without being charged again. That being said, it's beautiful. The water, the falls, the caves, and the terrain are all worth seeing. My advice, camp near Lake Murray and go for one day while you're down there. read more

Turner Falls Park - Turner Falls souvenir shop - Parks Near Me - Davis, Oklahoma

About a month and a half ago, I came across this place in my FB newsfeed. I texted the link to my husband and said we need to take the kids. I never checked the reviews, or looked into any further. Then, my husband got relocated to Bowie, TX. The kids and I drove out to meet him, and then headed up to Turner Falls. Now, my mistake was not looking into anything. The must know about this place is that it is not some secret gem. It seems everyone within a 300 mile radius will be there (If it's summer). Stay with me. Keep reading! You won't get a cabin with last minutes notice, and it's slim pickings for motels. Luckily for us, we stopped in for a cabin, and although the lady didn't have one to rent us, she gave us some useful info that I will pass along to you. This was at noon on a Friday. She said, go NOW. Don't wait until Saturday. On Saturdays, they stop letting people into the park at noon. We listened to her, we went and waited about an hour in line to get in. Once we were in, we debated on the whole camping thing. We got the kids down, swam and played, and decided we would camp the two nights. We drove one town over to Walmart and bought everything we needed. We found a camp sight close to the water. Now here is some info you need to know, for the most part, although yes, it is packed, blah blah, blah, THESE PEOPLE ARE SOME OF THE NICEST YOU WILL MEET IN YOUR LIFE!!! Once gentleman offered to let us use a table, one gave us firewood. I mean, these are some great, nice, kind people. And, every single person I talked to was that way. It's great to know there are still these people out there. We camped, it was miserably hot. But, we spent a great amount of time in the water, and the kids loved it. We, however only made it 1 night, the 100 degree weather broke us. Now a few things for the park : 1. It could use some clean up. The water, and the campgrounds could definitely use a sweep through. But, I understand that with the number of people moving in and out daily, it has to be hard. 2. Build some more cabins!! People will rent them. It you build them, they will come. 3. Better stock the store. I would definitely have bought a few floaties. But, you guys were out. 4. Pedestrian control on roads! People are out walking, and with children, very very dangerous!! 5. Noise ordinance! You guys need one. Now, for all of that, if you're in the area, just go. You've got nothing to lose, and it really is great to not only get your own family out, but also see all the others. When is the next time you'll have the opportunity to visit a place like this? Bring lots of sunscreen, and water! Here is another fab tidbit... IF you want to spend the weekend there, pay the primitive camping fee. It's only an extra $12 a day. For instance, we went on Friday, paid for Friday night, and Saturday night. That gets us a site until 5 pm Sunday. So, we can show up, and even if they are turning others away, we can still get in because we're "camping" on the grounds! Now, that was long, but hopefully helpful. read more

This was going to be my first trip to Turner Falls and my family assured me it was AMAZING. We checked the weather and the website daily to make sure the park would be open on the days we were available. GREEN LIGHT! Yay! Park is open and until 10 pm! Awesome! So we pack up the car and make the 4 hour trip to the Falls. Not only is the park NOT OPEN, but no one answers the phone when you call, AND the automated message says that the park closes at 4pm. 4PM?!?! What happened to the 10PM that the website currently has posted? And what happened to the Green Light that is still posted?!?! We were one of many cars that stopped at the entrance only to find it closed off. As close as it got to being a water park was the fountain in the front that a few children could fit into to splash around. SO DISAPPOINTING!! And I will NOT be giving it another try. Now that I know that the website is a total lie and that the employees don't exist to simply answer phones to check the accuracy of the website I will not be wasting any more of my or my families time. Extremely unprofessional. We drove over 3 hours today to visit Turner Falls to then be told the park was closed. The officers did not acknowledge us to even explain why the park was closed or if it will reopen later in the day. They only yelled "Park is closed" on the loud speaker from their patrol vehicle over and over. We called Turner Falls office several times, no one answered and the voicemail was full. I do not plan to return as it is a waste of time and effort, with apparently no guarantee of entrance. read more

We planned this trip four days in advance. We re-read the ENTIRE list of policies once booking, and not ONCE did it say NO PETS. We travelled over 2 HOURS to camp at this location and once we approached the front entrance, we were greeted by an extremely rude woman who failed to explain the "no pet" policy and told us to just simply "exit out of the park". I understand the no refund policy, but we didn't make ANY changes to our standing reservations nor did we make any other booking changes. Not only do I deserve my money back for the lack of communication, but I feel as if I deserve at least an explanation as to why the policies are so vague. The lack of customer service was absolutely ASTOUNDING. If we would've known that we weren't allowed to bring pets we wouldn't have driven over two hours to the campground. If you decide to NOT give us our money back, at the bare minimum you should at least change your polices on your website rather than just tape it to the windows at the entrance. I came here a few years ago and it was fun, but now, it's a completely different story. The charge is now $12 a person and totally not worth the drive up from Dallas, or anywhere for that matter. Even though the workers give out trash bags, people still feel the need to litter. If you go to the very top of the falls, it is much nicer, the water is not as murky as it is down below. Absolutely breathtaking and so much to do! There are caves, an incredible castle, walking trails, and of course, the gorgeous waterfall. There are many different areas to swim and play. There's a slide and a diving board you can go on into the river. It's extremely clear water and very clean. read more

Bought tickets ahead of time and arrived early but still were unable to park near the falls. So we went up to another parking lot and followed some trails. It's a nice place as far as how the water has cut into the rock and the lush greenery and all the trees. Unfortunately in the short time there (under an hour) I lost count of all the beer cans laying around along with other trash and a dirty diaper. I understand that staff cannot follow every guest around to clean up behind them but the level of filth was worse than I have ever seen outside of a landfill. Dont go if is you 1st time, a weekend or a holliday the park is big but there is not enough bathrooms, i rented a enclose shelter 40$ that was nothing but a chiken coop with buk beds from 50 years ago and felty, you can rent the few cabins cause they are book months ahead if could be nice place if they make bathrooms change all the acomodations and put trash cans; it was 98% mexican people to the max capacity kidss dirty diapers in several areas including the river iam surprise they have a Max capacity i saw like 1000 people there! read more

We came today and the park is closed. Their website is not updated and will be closed all day today. We drove from Indiana and were greeted with rude park attendants. We asked the worker and a policeman when they would be open and they responded with "don't know" with their backs turned to us. Glad to see Oklahoma treats their guests so well. This place is great for fun and active family outing. Food is what you would expect from camp ground type place. Bring your own life jackets for the kids or expect to pay steep markup. Would recommend swim shoes for young kids, elderly, or anyone that has sub par balance haha. Great value for what you get!!!!! read more

I went here no longer than a month ago, there were fish in the water, but today the water was really muddy (might be because of the rain, my family didnt even swim, we hiked a little then just left. If anyone is planning on going from now til (maybe) the end of summer, don't! You'd be disappointed. read more

The scene was beautiful, loved the falls & caves! My problem is the park maintenance: restrooms toilets were over flowing, toilet paper & used women toiletries littered the floors. My boys attested to the same disarray in the boys restroom. Then, there's the "lifeguards" who were flirting, taking breaks at the same time & flipping each other off while they were "doing their job" (maybe it's volunteer based, I don't know). I would go back maybe early summer to avoid the crowds but for this summer, it won't happen again. read more

My family just spent the memorial day weekend at Turner Falls Park, our first time there. We had a great time, enjoyed camping and swimming. I booked our RV spot and tickets several months in advance and the online ticket process was not bad, but their rules for WHAT you have to pay for are confusing. It would be much easier if pricing was bundled for RV /park use instead of separate pricing and tickets for all. Also, for RVs at the 50 amp area where we stayed, you aren't assigned a spot at reservation so you just head to the area and pick whatever is available when you check in. The spots are EXTREMELY close together so you better like your neighbors! Upkeep of grounds could be better - mowing of trafficked areas, trash pick up, etc. The fact that primitive camping seems to be a free for all for tents/parking is insane as well as day use people setting up wherever. Parking is horrible, so if you do plan on driving from your camp spot down to the swimming areas be prepared you might not have a spot to park in. The shuttle frequency depends on occupancy level, there doesn't seem to be a normal set time (ie; every 15 or 30 minutes). Overall we enjoyed what we came there for, which was the falls/water and scenery. read more

Had no idea there were waterfalls in OK. This one was impressive and worth the trip. That being said...we went on a weekend just before school started and it was wall to wall families. The most poorly run park we have ever experienced. Too many people allowed in the park. There was unbelievable amounts of trash all over this park and in the creek. Bathrooms were disgusting. It was obvious park was understaffed. One hour wait to just get in the park. Paths not properly designated. Trash and more trash. No pets allowed but we saw a dog. Blue pool was an unsupervised (no lifeguard) disaster. There will be a major injury or death if they don't get act together. Not sure who is charge of this park but perhaps park should be closed for a year to clean it up and improve the infrastructure. We will never go again. read more

On the way to Austin, Turner Falls was the Spring trips's fun stop. We were the first visitors in the park in early April and basically no one showed up until we started out. Our purpose was to do a quick hike to break up the trip and Turner Falls park fit the bill. The falls are beautiful and the caves next to them were a surprise to me. There are not many limestone caves in Oklahoma. The river was pretty and the swimming holes looked fun if not too crowded. We also enjoyed the castle (a doctor's old summer home). Worth another stop in my book. AND, we were told not to miss the fried pies on the way into the park. We missed them but will not next time. read more

Absolutely beautiful! One of a kind location, wonderful family adventure. There are rivers to float down, a large waterfall with swimming area, and another beautiful swimming area with sandy beaches. Plus lots of trails to explore, and small rock castles to check out, hidden caves, and other secret surprises around every corner! The scenery is unmatchable. And you can bring your own food, so no extra expense to serve your own lunch, unlike most attractions, where you must buy their food (they do have stores where you can buy food and drinks if you prefer). And they have campgrounds to camp out if you want (for a fee) and log cabins to rent out. It's Absolutely gorgeous. Will be back every year! read more
